Hear me out: what you really want to eat here is the Mercado Ensalada. I know, it's a taco place and I am telling you to eat a salad. If you want to stop reading this review, I won't blame you. But! it's a really good warm salad. It has roasted brussels sprouts, butternut squash, potatoes, carrots, red onion, broccoli, farro, arugula, goat cheese, and pecans. There is a whole lot of flavor in the salad and the chipotle balsamic vinaigrette ties it all together really well. The tacos are only okay. They are consistently missing something flavor-wise. I wish I could put my finger on what exactly they are missing, but they consistently look better than they taste. I've tried the al pastor, carnitas, crispy fish, shrimp and chorizo, and spicy chrispy chicken. My favorite is the shrimp and chorizo, but none were really anything that I would rush back for. I've tried the salsa trio, because often a good salsa can save a mediocre taco, but I wasn't a big fan of the salsas either. Again, a pretty flat flavor. There is a deep tequila list. Make good use of it. A good place to try something that you haven't had before. What a cinco de mayo experience I had here. I decided to indulge in cinco de mayo festivities and try somewhere new for tacos and margs. This is the ONLY go-to place in the area. I was excited for this place to open because it's something different on Haddon Ave. However I am cautious with my excitement because it's operated by the PJ Wheilahans restaurant group. Nothing is ever fresh at their restaurants. Most food comes in frozen on a Sysco tractor trailer. I quickly found out that this is not authentic Mexican food. However, the design and decor of the place is very cool. Patio out back should be fun in the summer. My first time there was fun. It was packed with other first time diners. I was disappointed in the food. The portions are very small and over priced. I got the steak tacos and there are technically two tacos but the portion is really for one. $3 for a taco? Over priced. I tried their signature margarita and couldn't taste any tequila. It tasted like sugar. The beer list is mostly mainstream beer. Need more local craft beer and Mexican beer. I guess Bud or Miller have a contract with this corporation that forces them to have the mainstream beers. They also serve a spicy guacamole. I asked if I could get just regular guacamole and they said no. Warning. Not fresh. Must come in on the Sysco truck. I was also there last weekend on a Saturday for drinks around 10:30pm or 11pm. Decided to give this place a try despite the reviews not being great. Took one bite into my fish taco and the fish was completely brown. Just hoping I don't get food poisoning. Guacamole was bad and the fajitas were okay. Server brought us our food with no silverware and then disappeared so we couldn't even eat when the food came out. I loved the idea of a new local place serving traditional style street tacos, but Central Taco didn't quite meet the mark. The concept could be good, but the service style is awkward. Instead of serving the tacos you order on a plate just for you, they serve the same style on a plate to the entire table. So if three people in your party Order the same item, they come plated together. Think family style, but not shareable. The prices were a bit high for the size and contents of each taco, but the options and flavors were decent. As the name would suggest, they have a wide variety of tequila options. The drink menu looked great and a tried a few different margarita and cocktail styles, but again the prices were a bit high for what you actually get. If you are interested in beer, this may not be your stop. Unless your prefer the likes of bud light, Miller lite on tap. Don't get me wrong, there are more options. Though, with a bar this size, the beer list should be dominated by LOCAL craft beers. Reserving bottles for the everyday stuff that can be purchased at Wegmans. I did the solo west coast ipa on the list (by Victory) and was plenty happy with it. Like much of the other reviewers, I was disappointed by the price and quantity of food. $3 for a very small, mildly accompanied taco is a shame. My compatriots found some of the meats to be dry, mildly flavored or tough. The tortilla soup was passable, even though staff said it might be the best thing on the menu. Scary! That's a shame when the main reason to come to a taco joint is to get a taco that's rampant with flavor-packed meat. I chose the ceviche. It was fresh. Citrusy. Although too citrusy. All I could taste was the lime. It blunted the fatty goodness of the avocado and Mahi mahi. My tastebuds weren't tainted by illness so I can't blame that for the mishap. It was just passable. Nothing that was really memorable for me. Our tab for 4 was about $80. Be it a wonderful atmosphere, I still can't justify the cost when leaving hungry. If you're coming for tequila, you've made a good choice. If you're coming for solid Mexican, I think you may be leaving mildly satisfied by Tex mex and good service. Will I go back for food? Probably not. I'm more compelled to give the bar another shot. Hopefully, CTT expands their beer selection for those of us that enjoy craft beer on draft. He stated that it would be sour since they use fresh juice, I suggested adding club soda. He then says yeah we don't make them because it backs us up!!!??? So he refused to make a virgin margarita. Well, I have to say that I was dubious about yet another PJ's establishment. I am impressed by the flip of the space. It has a nice feel. My wife and arrived before two other groups of people but were seated after them, no reservations, just a screw up by the manager and his staff. Though shit happens, manager is very nice, but that can leave a bad taste in your mouth. This place has great vibes. The DJ the evening I went was really good so that helped, along with the food. When you walk in you dont expect to get close to authentic food. The way they handle their tacos with attention to the sauce, meat and overall combination of things is wonderful. Be sure to kick off with the queso, super tasty. Place was decent enough. We had a 9 year old with us who's very picky and I understand not every place has chicken fingers and French fries and I'm not going to say "they should do that!!" But it was disappointing that there wasn't a food option for picky eaters haha. I got the chicken burrito and it was just OK. It was very bland. I think they use fake packaged chicken in the burrito which is a shame because I had the chicken tortilla soup and the chicken seemed shredded and fresh. Our waitress was sweet, but their food is literally uneditable. When even teenagers don't want to eat any of the food because it's so disgusting that's a problem. Shrimp tacos had 1 shrimp each, chicken quesadilla was large gristly gross chicken, taco shells tasted like they sat out for a week, you could not even chew the overcooked beef! If Yelp gave 1/2 stars this would be a 3.5 star review. Came in a small group and sampled lots of things. We started with the queso and guacamole but they came with two servings of stale chips. For a Mexican restaurant to charge money for chips...they at least need to be fresh. The queso was lukewarm and super watery. Should have trusted the rest of the Yelp reviews! We had the Mexican corn, rice, shrimp and chorizo taco, al pastor taco, carne asada taco, carnitas taco, mercado ensalada and churros. The food comes out as it is ready and sometimes one taco at a time but there were appetizer plates to split the food up when needed. The drinks were good, we had the special which was a strawberry pineapple margarita, the coconut margarita and the smokey Arroyo. $3 a taco is a little steep but we enjoyed everything except for the appetizers. We used to go here all the time. The food and drinks were mostly very good and service friendly and efficient. However, the service has really deteriorated in the last few months. We went for dinner in early April. Our server was just really not good at her job, and there was a "backup at the bar" that resulted in a 20 minute wait to get drinks. We chalked it up to just an off night and returned today for lunch. We were seated immediately, but 10 minutes later, we still had not so much as even been greeted by a server, so instead of suffering through another aggravating experience, we left. It's unfortunate. The drinks were horrible and when I went in to speak to the host about returning my drink the bartender seemed offended, however the drinks tasted just like limeade and the excuse given was its fresh lime. Even when she made the drink over it was disgusting and even when I ordered something else it was horrible! Now the food....bland! If seasoned food is not your thing then this is the place for you. I will be back! Always anxious to try new taco spots in the area so I was quick to get to Central T&T. Went on a Saturday night and waited over an hour for a table for four. Drinks were all good, decent draft beer selection, and quite noisy due to large crowd. Finally sat and ate and all the food was excellent! The street corn was especially good, and served in a bowl rather than on the cob, which has pros and cons, but the taste was excellent. All the tacos were very good as well. The guacamole was good, but a small portion size meant for two and not four. I will be back for sure. Some of the best real street tacos in the area. If you've found better please advise! read more

Worst experience of my life. My waitress was great but she was so overwhelmed with a large party. There are plenty of workers chit chatting and no one helping her. This is the new spot in town and we wanted to give it a try. We came hungry and that was a mistake. While the tacos were absolutely delicious they were small. We ordered 2 each. We also ordered chips and guacamole. The flavor was on point but the chips were all small and broken. I ordered a burrito bowl. The dish was shallow but the flavor profile on the carne asada was amazing. My husband ordered the korean bbq enchiladas. They were "petite" to say the least but damn those babies were kicking with flavor. I was slightly disappointed with the size of the food but the flavors are definitely on point. We also had an amazing server named Adam. Any question I had or wanted to add something on the side, he was right on it. The drinks are good and the food is decent (especially the guac and quest) but they must have changed the menu where you can't mix and match tacos. Why would you eliminate that option when you do many varieties. I think I'll come back once they bring that menu feature back.
