Worst customer service ever!! I've been on the phone back and forth with CenturyLink since 11:00am and now it's 5:38pm. They transfer you from one representative to another never to get the issue you called about resolved not to mention they'll give you a call back and still transfer you to several representatives and still not the issue will not get resolved. I ordered a set top box and was sent a wireless router. I cannot get one representative one the phone that can help resolve this issue.. Very disappointed and a waste of my time and day. read more

Worst service, marketing, finance, technical, and phone support I have experienced in any company. After 5 years of automatic payments, they turned off my service when my credit card company changed my card number for security purposes. CenturyLink dropped my service and tried to make me start a new account. After three calls, 2 hours on the phone, updated account info, they said all I have to do is modify my automatic payment information. Extreme sarcasm, "no, really?" Horrible service, whether you're a Business or a Consumer. From a Consumer perspective, you don't get what you pay for. We are signed up to receive "Up To" 12 mbps D/L and 768 U/L. I used to get this.... for a couple months, but lately I have been getting 750 Kbps D/L and 214 Kbps U/L. And get this, I live 5 Blocks from the central office. They absolutely refuse to upgrade their wiring / infrastructure. Heck, I even have a photo of one of there green boxes open / mutilated / under water. I informed them about it and two years later it's still in the same condition. No wonder their service doesn't work. From a Business perspective, this company overcharged us, lied to us, then stole roughly $20,000 they promised to us as a credit when we swapped our services from a point to point T1 configuration to an MPLS T1 configuration. Unfortunately, by the time we were aware of their lies the cancellation window expired, and we were under contract with no way to back out. In addition to this, they disconnected the wrong circuit on us, then took two days to get it back online. Businesses nowadays are risk assessing their vendors to ensure coverage and measure appropriate risk levels. I didn't get away from Century Link because they were a risk, I got away from them because they were a threat to our operation. A waste of money and time. Every time I have called regarding my service they have been so rude. One guy laughed at me because I was asking why I paid so much for slow internet and the proceeded to tell me I was being difficult....for asking a simple question? He then transferred me to his "supervisor" , which btw if you're playing the part of a supervisor, don't say, "I'll need to ask my supervisor about that" lol Then today I chatted with someone, asked how their day was and her response was "what's your issue?" Dear CenturyLink, I just got off the phone w a rep named Alex trying to order an upgraded modem. The conversation Ina nutshell was I either pay the $150 or go buy one myself. He then went on trying to sell me other service. I told him I only needed the modem. He gave me no other option, which now I found out I can lease. I asked to speak w his supervisor and he kept asking me why. I finally spoke with someone else. I am now shopping for another provider. CenturyLink is now bullying customers. The absolute worst company in customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. This is no exaggeration and I'm not one to write reviews, good or bad. We were promised our void system completed in four weeks by Rafael Ramirez. Apparently, come to find out, this bill takes closer from 6 to 8 weeks. Our customer service rep Rafael Ramirez mistakenly left out a major piece of the build and now expects us to casually pay $3600 over the next three years because of his inability to "a system properly. We're going on the 5th month, our Service turned off for to complete days including phone and Internet without even so much as a "sorry". Complete lack of respect for our business and complete disregard for New Mexicans as a whole. Apparently you cannot speak to a manager directly without calling in and waiting two days for them to respond to you. If there's another option out there for you, save yourself some money. read more

My husband and I purchased a new build in October 2019. We had Centurylink at our previous residence so we contacted them about moving our service to the new home. They said it wouldn't be a problem, sent us a new modem, and told us when our service would begin. After several weeks of waiting for the start date to come, we received a call from Centurylink telling us that they could not provide service after all due to a lack of connection. They assured us that they would run the proper lines as soon as the ground thawed enough. The homes across the street have service through Centurylink but they removed the hookups for the three lots on our side of the street when old homes were torn down and the lots were empty. I feel that it is important to note that we live in the middle of a city. We don't live in the country or some small town in the middle of nowhere. We also don't live in a new development. We live in a neighborhood that was established in the 1890's and have a Centurylink office IN OUR BACKYARD! I will post a picture of the building that I took from my kitchen. Now we are being told that we will have to cover half of a supposed $10,000 to $15,000 cost because they want to run a fiber optic line. We waited for their service because we had a great experience with them previously and we wanted to avoid going to Sparklight at all costs. We were patient and understanding with them all while they failed to mention the potential $5,000 to $7,500 cost that we would have until today. Their lack of transparency or desire for good business practices has now cost them our business. We called Sparklight and will be getting service through them tomorrow. I'm sure they will either have to eat that cost at some point in order to offer service to the homes here or they will find some sucker to cover whatever they tell them to. Good luck. read more

I have spent 4 hours trying first to move my service and then cancel it after the dismal service received. Four hours of effort later, I still have not gotten confirmation of cancellation. Never had problems with Spectrum like this. Century Link saw I was uploading two large files and admits they illegally throttled me. The first file was 6 gigs and went up fairly quickly. The second was 12 gigs and 1/4 way in, the speed slowed from 5 mb/sec to .002 mb/sec. I spend 2 hours calling their non-English-speaking outsourced liars and after resetting the account numerous times, and them asking all sorts of security questions to me, it was working. Then I tried to upload again, and it was blocked. I called again, got an American, and he was perplexed that I was being blocked. He adamantly said they do NOT throttle. But when he changed the IP address it started to work again. I never had this problem with Time Warner/Spectrum. These guys appear to be criminals. I'd avoid them. read more

This is probably my first or second one star review of anything on yelp. I only picked them because I dislike Comcast. Comcast is amazing by comparison. If I could give them negative stars I would. I setup an appointment to get internet service in my new apartment. They give me this 12-5 pm windows in which they'll show up. And not only do they not show up, I have to waste another 30 min of my life contacting customer service only to find out I am nowhere in their system. They gave a half hearted apology. It would not surprise me if they started charging my credit card some time down the line. I get better customer service at the dmv. If I could have zero stars to give to these folks just like I have zero you-know-what's to give, I would. There is no one else to use in Albuquerque for the speeds that I need. And I have never had as horrible customer service as this place offers in my life. God forbid you should ever have a problem and have to call support. My Internet service has been down for several hours intermittently today; I finally reached A tech chat and spent more than a half hour repeating myself to all the questions that he or she kept asking; the capper was when he or she said that he was troubleshooting and checking linespeeds and I waited patiently for about 10 minutes for him to get back on the line, until finally I typed 'what is happening here?' and he said the testing has to be done on MY end. What! This person had never even indicated to me that I was supposed to do anything on my end, and he never told me what it was that he wanted me to do. So OK, I say, what is it that you want me to do on my end? And he says you have not been cooperating. Three different times I clearly said to this guy what is it that you want me to do? What is it that you are doing? Am I supposed to be waiting for you to finish doing something? I do not think he even had a clue what he was supposed to be doing. Then he dumped me out of the tech-support chat. This is the kind of stuff you will have to deal with century link every time You need to call them up to deal with Problems with their Internet service. If you can avoid them, do so at all costs. I was passed to the most rude sales agent who absolutely ignored me when I said I was not a customer and needed technical/repair support for a down wire in my back yard. He said since I called sales, he had to offer me the deals. when I said I was not interested in being a customer, he just continued to talk completely ignoring me. I was just told that I was being transferred to a technical support supervisor, and the line was buzzing busy!!!! Have had century link for over 12 yrs and was satisfied until 6 months ago when they started slowing down my speed. I ended upgrading my service and that's when the problems started, They couldn't give me the speed that I wanted because they had a problem with the wiring in one of their boxes, It took a month to fix the problem and my speed was better but when I checked the speed it wasn't what I ordered, I was paying for something I didn't get, I called back and was told a tech had too come out. The problem was finally fixed up until a week ago when they lowered my speed again. Was now told they couldn't give me the speed I want because I was too far from their station and that now I needed a bonded connection and a new modern. Such a rip off to sell more product.Yes, customer service is a joke.They kept switching me back and forth to people who had no clue.I had the same problem the day before with their online chat, Even the supervisors I spoke to weren't much help. Customer service (aka abuse) is marked by an idiot AI, hangups, random redirects, non-functioning web site chat, interminable holds, and a purportedly perpetually heavy call volume. They have an astoundingly horrible web site (centurylink.com) with a crappy search service, super hard to find instructions that often turn out to be insufficiently detailed, or just wrong. Their technical support folks, should you manage to actually get a hold of one, seemingly have only one knowledge base resource, which is to tell you to call back to another (usually wrong or non-existent) department. Ask for a team lead and be prepared to wait an hour. And phone support only from 8am to 6pm local time. They ask you for a cell phone in case we get disconnected. ? But do they ever use it after a disconnect? Noooooo....!!! Can it suck any harder? Sure....you could get their Direct TV package. Then look out for their Dumb and Dumber subcontracting installers to come and punch a hole in your roof! Lily Tomlin was right. "We're the phone company. We don't care. We don't have to." I have had to call every month to resolve an issue and month after month I get a confirmation number and agent ID and am told the issue will be resolved, 4 months later and still no resolution! This isn't against the store location, but Century Link as a whole...WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I should have cancelled service when the tech arrived and argued with me about where I wanted my modem for internet to be connected. I wanted the corner out of site and he was headed for the main living room wall... Had to call customer service after he left to get my computer and phones on Wi-Fi. Two hours later..im up and running...SEVEN days later my service stops....SIX HOURS later after being disconnected and not called back..I am told my modem must be bad. They could ship me a new modem five days later...from a Thursday....not acceptable. I drive 45 minutes to get a new modem on Saturday...hook it up...STILL DOESN'T WORK..called cust svc...we go thru all the diagnostics again...still not working, again offered a new modem...I explain I dont need one...ask for a tech to come out and look at my lines...They said no one was available until the following Tuesday...I work from home.....got disconnected three times.. Call back and start the diagnostic questions again each time...finally ask for a supervisor or manager..I needed my service to work...after explaining this four or five times I am told it was escalated, a tech would be out and to expect a call from a manager. An hour later and having already spent almost three hours on the phone previously, I call back for an update, only to find out NONE OF MY previous conversation was documented....the rep starts the diagnostic questions again and I not so nicely told her I was tired of playing along and no one seemed to know what they were doing and I felt I was lied to earlier in the day . 1 star is too good for CenturyLink. I have been a very happy customer with every other ISP (Cable One, Comcast, Road Runner) and have had and never written a negative post about one but here we are. They told/sold me the idea that I could get high speed internet for 45 a month. They quoted me and I have the receipt, 80mps down and 10mps up and they asked me what I'd be using it for. I Told them online gaming. Then when the tech got here they say that was too high an expectation but would easily be enough for gaming! The tech said they could only get me 40 down and 10 up because of the apartments wiring. Then in practice (gaming the first night) I was getting 1.2mps down and 200kbs up. I played DOTA 2 and was kicked from my game twice and experienced 7 seconds gaps in connection constantly which I recorded all the numbers and used many different types of testing (speedtest.net, fast.com and Steam). The next morning I had to hunt down a working phone number that where I could actually get a hold of support. After 9 numbers (all found across google)! I finally found one and guess what? They said to callback when they opened which was 8am local time. I was calling at 8:07am! And 8:12, 8:25 and again at 8:48 where I just chose a different number (new customer) and finally got ahold of someone alive! Obviously they didn't have the time to deal with existing customers! The first operator was fine (Steven) but Camille (supervisor) and Janet (Manager) were the worst and wouldn't budge. They passed all the blame to me! And They said I was told I would get reduced service and it was my fault for trying them. I told them I voiced my concern while the tech was here and they refused to offer a refund on the tech service ($100) and offered no discount for my military service or that I worked as an emergency first responder. The manager and supervisor was rude, the company lied and was misleading and they nickel and dime everyone they can get their hands on. Fuck this predatory ISP provider and I have now made it my life mission to see that I tell as many people as I can about their service and won't stop until I cause them to lose $2000 in initial gross (20 times what they took from me). This review will be on google, yelp, I'm making a report to the BBB and will continue to tell people about the shity-est ISP provider I have ever experienced. Centurylink is the worst provider I have ever used!!! I have had the service working halfway for 5 out of the 7 months that have been paid for, now I have been disconnected! 2 months ago I lost internet connection and then called to report the problem... One month later a tech showed up to try to fix the problem but was extremely rude and unhelpful maybe because it was raining... Anyways he says it's a problem between the two boxes and he will get a contractor to come fix it. A week with no new word on the problem CenturyLink (automated service ), since you can't talk to real people said it would be around December 2019 before anyone can come out.... It was may 2019 when this was said. I then got a service bill for internet that I had not had for two months and then called to complain and ask for a pro-rated credit towards my account since I haven't had the service and was told my request would get sent higher up. Last week (6-14-19) I received a notification saying a tech has fixed the problem but I still have no internet. I then called to check on the situation to find that I have been disconnected due to non payment and in order for them to turn it back on I will need to pay $100+ but the contractor still won't be here until December. I will never recommend this service to anyone!! No respect for customers, extremely high rates for the slow speeds of internet and having to fight with a robot for an hour just to talk to someone reading from a script. In conclusion, CenturyLink was garbage when I was young and still garbage to this day. read more

STAY AWAY! SCAM! This company does not deliver the speed they claim to offer. I couldn't even play Pandora or Netflix while using their services. I didn't even have the service for more then 4 days and they kept telling me my balance was 0$ due to the 30 day free trial. Months later I get a collection agency letter stating that I owed them close to 100$. I called the agency and they notified me that there is a survey that you must fill out after you cancel to receive no charge. Because this was in October and it is now June I do not remember if I filled out the survey, but I DO know that I kept the cancellation email and it says nothing in regards to the survey and when I called numerous times to cancel, the operators never said anything about the survey. I had checked the account to make sure my account was 0$ but because it was cancelled I had no access, I was not getting any mailed bills stating that I owed, no phone calls or voice mails. The internet never worked right & when I complained they did nothing to fix it. When I switched providers Century Link charged me for an early termination fee claiming I had a 2 year contract with them. I never agreed to any contract with them & now they want to charge me hundreds of dollars for some imaginary contract & services they did NOT want to provide but they did want to charge for.
