    A strong southwestern theme
    Peter M.

I wasn't terribly impressed with my meal, but the service was good and it would be tough for any Mexican place, since two of our favorite restaurants in our last town were Mexican. I ordered the Fajita Burrito. Some of it was very good. My problem was that I found the steak way too chewy. I would have preferred ground beef, but as it didn't seem to be an option I hoped that the steak would be like the shredded beef your get in Philly sandwiches. But there were steaks tills and too tough for me (though others may like the that way). I should have gotten vegetarian I suppose. My wife got the chicken fajita skillet and liked it fine. Our friend selected chicken wings, but they were boneless and unacceptable to her. I might have tried them to judge for myself, but the server was so good about it she took it back and let her order a new item. She went with the vegetable fajita skillet wand was happy with it. Someday we may go back and give them another chance; like I say, it wasn't bad. But there are so many places to try and a f ew favorites already in our new area here that it may be a while.

I don't know why this place has one bad review, almost didn't go because of them; especially being well versed working in the service industry reviews are very important. First time we stopped in was just for margs because they had great reviews and now we definitely know why. Came back the next night to try food and got a double round of margaritas because Christy the bartender makes the BEST {we are from the south seacoast NH and have every Mexican place under the sun to choose from} and our server Jayme is the sweetest and remembered our orders, request her, she's great. LOVE the staff. Service is excellent, food is great and definitely not bland per other reviews (literally no idea what these poor reviews are taking about) plus the decor is so fun and is on point with their Tex-mex southwestern theme. We are definitely looking forward to coming back here again.

All meals were good, not great, but just seemed to be lacking that old original flavor for some reason. Just did not have the same flavor as remembered as we prefer very authentic type Mexican and this seemed not the same. When back again, most likely will not go again as we found a much more authentic place in the Elm Plaza area, which we really enjoyed and was much more authentic. Not a "bad" experience, just not a "great" one either.

My wife and I had great service from server Justice on a Thursday night. I ordered the Flank Steak fajitas and was greeted by an absolutely delicious and more-than-generous portion of steak, fajita veggies, and various salad accoutrement (lettuce, fresh tomato, guac, sour cream, etc). For the price and in this particular tourist hot spot, I feel like it was not only an incredible value, but a noteworthy experience for both locals and tourists alike! Thanks Miguel's, we'll stop by again on our next trip to Bar Harbor!

We were met at the front door with what seemed to be a manager who seated us The sever named Justice was quite nice and attentive The salsa, queso and chips were great. The bad: every hot sauce bottle at the table was empty, I worked in this industry before and at the end of a shift we used to refill all consumables when closing a shift. To see dry bottles with dry crusty residue was very disappointing. The food was over salted and not from a food snob standpoint it literally had granular salt clumps in the burrito and in the sides we ordered. There was no handwash in the bathroom which I completely understand that as bussiness owners we cant always keep up with when it gets busy. But what I cant understand is why the bartender is allowed to curse like a sailor dropping F-bombs every other word that carries across the reasturaunt. As someome who runs a bussiness this was horrifying. Myself and my wife were not offended as I spent 20+ years in the military and recently retired and I have heard it all but if I had been there with my kids it would have been another story. Overall the place has good potential but needs a good clean up. Owner can feel free to message me for some advice as I run a very successful business in the state and woukd be more than happy to help.

I'm from New Orleans, where food doesn't whisper--it speaks up. After spending a full month traveling the Maine coast from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, I found plenty of fresh seafood and scenic charm, but very few dishes that truly woke up my palate. Then I walked into Hey Sailor. This place doesn't hold back. The flavors are layered, intentional, and memorable--each bite feels thoughtfully built rather than simply assembled. There's a balance here between creativity and comfort, with dishes that feel both elevated and satisfying. It's the kind of food that makes you pause mid-conversation because your attention suddenly shifts to what's happening on the plate. In a region where subtlety often takes the lead, Hey Sailor confidently turns up the volume without losing finesse. It's not just good for Maine--it's good, period. If you're someone who craves food with depth, personality, and a little punch, this is a stop worth making. For me, it stood out as one of only two places on this entire coastal stretch that truly delivered that kind of experience.

As connoisseurs of Mexican food, it's oftentimes a little dicey to try new places, but other reviews convinced us. The counter and grill are in a colorful space, letting you know that the food will be colorful, too. Not just in taste, but because of the vibrant local fresh ingredients. There are picnic tables scattered around, plus a screened area, and a big sand pit and swingset for the kiddos.
