I'm still on the hunt for great tacos here in Indianapolis. This place helped a little but I've got a lot of other places to try. They don't have a trompo so that's a point off already. They also don't have guacamole ready to slather on your tacos-you have to buy it by the pint. Another point off. They also don't let you bring your own water inside. Weird. Now for the positive-the man that took our order was friendly-probably the owner. They have a good selection of tacos, burritos and tortas. I ended up getting carnitas and quesabirria tacos and my husband got 2 carne and 1 pastor. They also don't have adobada which is what he prefers over pastor. 1/2 point off, lol. The tacos were decent and the birria was flavorful. They had a good spicy salsa and another one I can't really remember. I might go back to try a torta or burrito but the search for great tacos continues. read more

Yum. Great, friendly, welcoming service and fabulous authentic food make Cessar's a 5 star in my book. The place is not fancy, even a little dated so don't expect an upscale taqueria. We ordered a mix of corn tacos and Quesabirria tacos up at the counter then took a seat. Our server, brought out water and samples of their frijoles rancheros. The beans were fresh, spicy and delicious. The food is prepared fresh and takes 12 or so minutes to come out. The chicken tacos were delicious and refreshing. The chicken was tender and moist. I added lime and bit of their spicy green sauce. The Quesabirria taco was fabulous - packed with spicy tender beef and cheese and a crunchy fried shell. The taco was served with Birria juice. When the server saw that the tacos were too spicy for my granddaughter, he brought her a big plate of rice, which she loved. I was touched by his kindness. They serve a mix of Mexican sodas and $1 coffee (no alcohol). They also serve breakfast options. They are located a block off interstate 70 with east on and off. read more

Small taco shop in front of Home Depot parking lot. Not gonna lie, the establishment is not very inviting and it lacks esthetics BUT these places have the best tacos and I know it. Cessar Tacos was no exception. I wasn't super hungry so I just got two tacos- barbacoa and asada. There are more than 10 to choose from- so it was a hard decision. My order was ready in about ten minutes. tacos had lots of cilantro and onion just how I like them. I loved how tender the barbacoa was and asada had great seasoning. Highly recommended. This establishment needs to shutdown immediately. Mainly every worker is racist, especially the owner. They will attend Mexican race first then any other race, no matter who comes in first. They will give the Mexican race free food, literally witnessed it happen. They talk about their customers in Spanish cause they assume nobody else knows the language. And also the food is never fully cooked. The only good thing is the horchata drink, but thats even over priced. While other Mexican restaurants are priced at $3.50 for large horchata, theirs is $6. Ambience is quick cafe style, you can eat in, but the carry out business is booming! We ate in and the service was excellent. Food was fresh and hot, presentation was superb check the pics. I had the fish tacos, and they were heaped with ingredients and piping hot. Be warned the red sauce is hot, but the green sauce will light you up! Wife had the chicken fajitas she said it was a 5 of 5. Daughter has the steak fajitas and she rated a 5 of 5! Overall excellent. Went here and the meat in the taco was Burnt. See picture for evidence. Also my brother ordered a veggie fajitas taco and they gave him beans with lettuce and tomato's that's it. On top of that it took 30-45 mins to get this crap. Horrible dinner couldn't even finish. read more

Happened to be hungry and in the east side. I'm always on the lookout for hole in the wall authentic taco places. This place did not disappoint! It's located in a old waffle house and they maintained that vibe with no real updates inside. The sign out front still maintains the waffle house aesthetic. My wife and I both had tacos. I had the Barbacoa Birria tacos, which were absolutely phenomenal. Seasoned well and the portions were very large. My wife had chicken and she said that they were very good too. We both shared chips and guac. The chips were thin variety. The were super fresh and fried to order. The guacamole was extremely fresh and very tasty. I enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros with two over-easy eggs on top of fried tortillas (and a few tortillas were served on the side), with refried beans, rice, and a small helping of lettuce/tomato. The eggs were covered with Salsa Verde that was obviously homemade and absolutely delicious. Very friendly servers and chef. He couldn't hear us and kept yelling what are you trying to order. I placed the order but I had my husband pick it up. My husband informed me he needed to place the order next time if he was picking the food up. It was a very bizarre experience. The chicken tacos were great as well as the birria. When I saw the sign, coming off 70, I knew I was not going to Out Back anymore, and turned left. A taco shop, in what had probably been a Waffle House, next to a liquor store, in a Home Depot parking lot, means one thing: BOMB FIRE TACOS. If you know, you know, and I do. The place was tiny and clean, the staff was friendly and quick. I ordered two chorizo and two al pastor, with onion and cilantro, and a can of soda ($16) They were ready in 10 minutes, but the man behind the counter slid me a small cup of frijoles, with a honking red chili sticking in it. Challenge accepted, they did not disappoint. The beans had a nice amount of meat and the spices were excellently well balance, great depth of flavor that I could enjoy, while the heat pounded my face. I broke a sweat on my forehead, while noticing the amount of chili seeds in their home-made hot sauce, OMG. The man behind the counter smiled and said "Pretty hot?" "My Dude, these are fantastic. Your spice blend is killer." And the tacos arrived. Four healthy portions of piping hot seasoned pork meat, wrapped in enough corn tortillas to keep your hands clean. They looked like they could stand up to any food truck. The taste was impressive, well seasoned and tender, moist, but with a restrained amount of fat. These are the kind of tacos you relish eating, truly tasty on their own merits, but of course I applied the sauces and both squeeze bottles were dealing out pure condiment joy. That hot sauce is no joke, be prudent in your application, but again, the flavor is great and the creamy sauce offers a cooling respite. Perfect experience, 5 stars for real. They fill you up and hold off any hunger for the rest of the day or night, and I had a 12 hour drive ahead of me. I know what you are thinking, "You had independently produced tacos, before a long drive?" Yes, my stomach was fine. Always eat at a "family place", they will take care of you. Perfect for lunch or dinner. These people look like they work hard for a living, if you are near Indy, head for exit 91 on I 70 and make them some money. You will not be disappointed. read more

Very unassuming for a reimagined Waffle House, but the food here was really good. I got the lengua and beef cheek tacos, caldo de res, and the cowboy beans. The caldo was fairly average, but the tacos and beans were great. Though the meat was cooked perfectly, it could use a little more seasoning, but the two sauces they offer and lime help. The staff was friendly and patient, regardless of a slight language barrier. The menu is pretty extensive, and you might find some "secret" items on the paper poster on the window, that may not be on the counter menu. I recommend Cessar Tacos for quality, low cost tacos and traditional larger plates. I would have given them 5 stars, but the menu on Yelp shows they have Corona, and they don't sell alcohol at all. Customer Service: I go here regularly as I live near by. I love the food here, the birria tacos are my favorite One thing I don't like about here is how the girls treat me, and it's literally every time I go here, as if I'm asking them for a huge favor. The first time was when it recently opened, the girl didn't know what a torta was and looked at me like I was clueless .. and just recently I tried getting a side of rice and beans and they had no clue what I was trying to order, they were getting really annoyed of me from their looks and yes I ordered it in Spanish .. I also asked for extra hot sauce and another one of the girls rolled her eyes at me and said the hot sauces are in the bag, in other words she didn't want to give me extra hot sauce even though I was hadn't payed yet and have no problem paying for extra hot sauce even.. Overall flavor is great! We had steak, pastor and chorizo tacos traditional with corn tortillas and cilantro/onions. Price was a bit higher for the east side, but at a prime corner location not too bad. The one reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 was we ordered 16 tacos but only had 1 tiny dipping cup of green salsa, and hot salsa. Luckily we eat tacos enough at home that we always have sauce...but if we didn't they could have been some dry tacos.
