Had an intense craving for Peruvian food. It's one of my favorite cuisines. Pescado a lo Macho was on my mind. After going on Yelp to find options for Peruvian food near Plantation, I came across Ceviche 595. I ate here a couple of years ago and wasn't that impressed. But decided to give it another try today because one of the photos on Yelp showed they had a reasonably priced lunch menu. Unfortunately for me, they seemed to have gotten rid of the lunch menu. So all of my food options were full price. I ordered the Pescado a lo Chorrillana for $16.95. A crispy fish fillet topped with onions and tomatoes in yellow chili pepper sauce served with potatoes and rice. It is exactly like the Pescado a lo Macho just without the extra seafood (calamari and shrimp). The food came quickly. However I was surprised to see the sauce was not yellow but red with more of a tomato base. Still it was delicious. read more

Amazing Peruvian restaurant with DELICIOUS ceviche! I came here on a Friday night around 7 and it was not too crowded. We got seated right away and ordered separate ceviche dishes. I ordered the mixed seafood ceviche and it was perfect. Perfect amount of spice, acidity and sweetness!! It was love at first bite. My S/O's dish, the shrimp ceviche was delicious as well. Perfect combination of heat, lime and sweetness. That alone could have been our dinner but we definitely wanted to try one more thing on the menu. We settled to share for the Peruvian fried rice. Let me just say... yum!! It was an interesting fusion of traditional fried rice with Peruvian spices and it was topped with crunchies that gave the rice a great texture! Ceviche yummmm. Got the fish and mixto with 3 Chile's - both were great and so refreshing. No fishy taste at all. Also got the grilled octopus which is ok , little not chewy and alfajor cookie was also good. But just recently tasted from a Peruvian bakery in Naples which is so good. I'm being generous by giving them three stars. First the restaurant was empty and the service was lame. It's seemed like or waiter was more interested in his two other table that spoke Spanish. We started out with grilled octopus. It was served with a couple of sliced potatoes, chimichuri, and grilled squid served in some kind of red sauce. The octopus was tough! The squid was better but wasn't listed as part of the dish. The red sauce had very little flavor. The roasted potatoes were also good, but the chimichuri was the best part of the dish. My wife had paella. The rice had a strange flavor and the seafood was over cooked. The best part of this dish was the pickled red onions served on the side. I had Saltido, peppered steak. It was good. Served with rice and French fries. The only I didn't care for was the fries. The saltido was served on top of the fries. They would have been better served on the side. We also had fried corn. It was good but it would have been better if it was served hot. I've eaten in several other Peruvian restaurant that were much better. read more

We started out the night wanting to go to another restaurant in the tower shops, but the place was packed, so we decided to go to Ceviche 595 instead. Our first clue to not a great experience was the place was empty when we walked. We were seated and we thought maybe okay...maybe. Looking over the menu, I was a little apprehensive. I have recently drastically changed my diet and couldn't find anything to alter, so in a pinch I will eat some seafood. The server was not forthcoming with recommendations. He didn't ask if we had ever been there before or if we had had Peruvian food before. (We love Ceviche Arigato in Weston for this reason...they are excited to recommend). We started with the pulpo anticuchero (octopus, served with potato). The potato was good. The octopus was not tender at all and after one bite I let my husband eat it. I ate the potato. The sauce that came with it was good and I ate it with the potato. The octopus also looked like the baby octopus (which also skeeved me a bit because of the tentacles and head). My husband had the lomo saltado...he didn't say it was bad...but he didn't say it was good either. I had the arroz con mariscos served paella style. Again the octopus was the baby octopus with wormy looking tentacles. The calamari was tough. I didn't try the 3 shrimp. The rice was okay...once I got past the cilantro (way too much and not my favorite) and the pile of raw red onions...which my husband said was his favorite part of the dish. Service was okay. This was my first time eating Peruvian food. My daughter-in-law and I (from Texas) were looking for a nice meal out by ourselves after helping her daughter (my granddaughter) move into her freshman college dorm. We had the most tasty, flavorful, delicious food either one of has ever had. We shared samples of each other's meal and could not stop saying how wonderful it was. We even had a Peruvian beer which was perfect with the meal. Service was great... in fact made us feel like we were guests in their home. We are not foodies, so it was very unusual that we would have such a great experience eating. It certainly capped off our trip to Florida after leaving our sweet girl behind!!! read more

I feel funny reviewing a Peruvian restaurant when I have never had the ceviche. Whenever we go to Ceviche 595 we have tried the hot food and have even very pleased. Dishes that we have tried include: Tacu taco a lo pobre: grilled steak Pescado a lo Chorillana: fried fish with onions and tomatoes Pescado a lo macho: fish filet with mixed seafood in a yellow chili sauce Sudado de Pescado: poached fish filet with onions and tomatoes Papa a la Huancaina Every dish was tasty and delicious. I would have to say the standout dish for me was the Sudado de Pescado. The poached fish was so tender and the sauce was so light with just the right amount of seasoning. The only dish I did not care for was the potatoes. We always seem to come here when we are in a huge hurry and the staff and kitchen never let us down. They always get us in and out quickly when we ask. The servers are always very polite and accommodating. Maybe one day I will get to try the ceviche! read more

I pay like almost 60 when I got home I notice the rice was smelling so nasty and the fish was not the same fish was so black that the fried covering didn't even cover the black fish it was still with the skin. It was the most nasty fish I ever tasted I feel like they just cook whatever they had gave to us. Every now and then I get these crazy food cravings. Back when I was a kid it was Filet-O-Fish sandwiches from McDonalds (don't judge...), in my early 20s it was steak, and now in my 30s it's ceviche. Like, a lot chewier than I've ever had. The sweet potato was a large serving, but had a tough outer shell? Never experienced that before... Staff was alright. They were eating when I arrived. It was empty when I got here so everything came out super fast. However, they were chit chatting when I was ready for the bill and had to wait a good amount of time, before I finally waved them over. After running errand around Plantation all morning, it makes perfect sense looking for restaurants I've previously bookmarked in the area. The weather has already started getting warm, and my wife and I both wanted something light and fresh for lunch. And this is what brought us to this place. I assume this place has just open recently because the place looked very new. However, I feel this place could really use some decoration. Basically it's four empty walls with tables and chairs and not much else. We found a table near the table and start looking at the menu. It's a nice and simple Peruvian menu with appetizers, fresh ceviche and some fish dishes. We decided that we are going to get one appetizer and one entrée each. The Choros a la Chaiaca, or the chopped mussels, was our choice. It was light and refreshing, topped with tomatoes, red onions and corns. We liked the dish except the lime juice was way overpowering. My wife wanted to try their Seco de res, or the short rib stew. Unfortunately, we were told it was not ready. Therefore, we decided we both going to share my Ceviche de pescado, or sliced fish marinated in lime juice. It's a good thing we did that because the portion of my dish was very generous. The fish tasted fresh but sliced in big chunks, which might be a little tough to chew. Also, the lime juice was very strong and that's pretty much all I can taste from the fish. I have to say, I am afraid we don't think we'll come back again soon. The food, even though looked and tasted fresh, didn't come to our expectation. Maybe they use a lot of lime juice in Peruvian dishes, but it's just a bit much for our taste. The specials of the day written on the board were in Spanish only, so we have absolutely no idea what they were. Also, only one wait staff speaks little English, which makes difficult to ask questions about the dishes in their menu. Since all the guests in the restaurants all speaks Spanish when we were there, I guess it's okay with them. read more

Good service and serves large portions of food. You will feel stuffed afterwards. We enjoyed the lomo saltado, yuca fries and arroz con mariscos. We had a small dessert that was tasty as well. Only down side is the Tower Shops. It is a busy place with limited parking. The service was good but it also wasn't very busy the day I came in. I shared a calamari appetizer with a friend, my initial thoughts were that the calamari is not as crispy as I'd normally like my fried squid however when I ate it I was in love! It has great flavor and the red onion salad that is paired with it is perfect! The lime and red onion really pairs well. For my entree I order the spicy seafood ceviche. The portion is amazing and the flavor is very good although not spicy. I really enjoyed the mussels, shrimp, and white fish tossed in the orange sauce. Extremely slow and and unattentive service. The Cevice was fine although the food items on the menu are quite limited. However, we sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes before anyone came up to us and even gave us a menu. The food took a long time and then it took even longer to get the bill even though the place wasn't even that busy. When we asked for the bill the woman said she doesn't understand what we're saying. She said she doesn't speak English but I feel like in a business establishment the word "bill" should pretty much be understood by a waitress. She called over another man who said he will go get the bill and it still took another 10 minutes to get in. Very disappointing experience.
