Blue Bottle in NYC ! A modern and chic cafe in the Rockefeller Center. I have seen Blue Bottle cafes in Korea and Japan and always wanted to go to the cafe. Service was professional and kind and they explained that it would take a little while because the Tea is freshly brewed when you order an iced tea. It is not tea that has been sitting in a plastic container all day. You can definitely taste the difference. I also found some fantastic gifts to take home. Blue bottle coffee stays as one of my favorite coffee spots in NYC despite being such a big chain. Have had a few of their drinks, including their NOLA coffee which is nice and reminiscent of Viet Coffee. Most recently I enjoyed their Shakerato. SHAKERATO - a midpoint between the classic Italian shakerato (just espresso, and ice shaken to a foamy texture, no milk or sweetener) and the shaken espresso at Starbucks that has gotten so popular. This is sweetened and includes milk and is such a nice refreshing coffee treat that isn't too sweet especially for the warmer weather. This has been my favorite version of this that I've tried thus far. They get the balance right between the ice, the foam, the creaminess and sweetness with the bitterness of the coffee. read more

Leaving this review for now because there is no easy way of doing this via Google but this is a request to update your closing times on google. We were there 5 minutes before 8PM when the store is listed as closing at 8:30PM and the store attendant had locked the door. I visited Blue Bottle on the recommendation of a friend who recently visited NYC. I am not much of a coffee drinker but it was cold out and I wanted something warming. After conversing with the staff member behind the register, I opted for a green tea. It may have had something else in it. The staffer called my name and I watched as my drink was decorated with a heart (see photo). It was not as hot as I would have liked it to be. Conveniently Located on the lower level at the Rockefeller Center near the restrooms (were very clean by the way). They are designed to order, pay, and take your purchase to-go. The menu is straight to the point offering espressos, lattes, cold brew, pour over, tea, and hot chocolate... Customer service was excellent, I enjoyed light conversation and felt welcomed. The employees take pride in their work and share their knowledge about coffee. I learned a few things today about how to slurp coffee to experience the notes of flavors such as raspberry, chocolate, and molasses which was listed for the pour over... I ordered "regular coffee with cream" and was worried about the extra notes changing the flavor I was hoping for. I was impressed; and after paying 10.50 for 2 small coffees, I was relieved it tasted so much better than expected. I would happily purchase from there again if in the area. Definitely would stop in during the winter time since they are so close to the ice skating area. I would like to try a hot chocolate during watching the snow fall. read more

I was surprised that they didn't have any normal coffee flavors (no vanilla or caramel). I got the Winter NOLA which really just tasted like hot milky water. When asked what kind of milk I wanted, I responded with whole milk and they said "are you sure? It's no additional cost." I stuck with the whole milk , but good to know that milk alternatives are no additional cost! This was the most expensive coffee I came across while in New York, so I was disappointed when it didn't live up to the price. I've been to Blue Bottle in SF a bunch of times but never had it in NY. Came here with coworkers, and was really underwhelmed by the espresso. There was almost no crema, and it was way too sour. The barista must have messed it up... basically could have got very similar quality at Starbucks. The coffee here is not cheap ($4 for an espresso, and the milk drinks can be $7+, so I have higher standards). Its kind of tough to find this place because its underground. read more

I am still thinking about this coffee days later. I got the Iced Cafe Mocha. It tasted so fresh you would think they just picked the espresso beans that morning. It had a hint of a fruity aftertaste that kept getting better as I drank it. The prices ranged from $4-6. If the line is long, don't let that deter you! I usually just get the latte here. Sometimes ya don't realize how good the coffee is here until I try other coffee that is so meh. I came to realize the whole milk they use is so creamy. I like it. Quick recap of drinks. Hot chocolate is amazingly rich. You can see that they have this pot of thick melted chocolate that they pour from. Quite satisfying to see. When you reach the bottom of the cup you can see melted chocolate sunk there. Sometimes I add milk and bam more hot chocolate. Mocha. Somehow it's not as good as the latte nor hot chocolate. New Orleans. I like getting it in the summer. The sweetness is refreshing and comes out as an undertone rather than in your face. In terms of pastries I don't get it often. They're solid but not particularly special/memorable. I came to write a review this time because I just had a blondie yesterday and thought it was very worth mentioning. I felt like getting a pastry so I had my eyes on the tea cake and blondie. I asked the staff which one I should get and she recommended the blondie. I would view blondies in the same perspective as brownies on a spectrum of cakey to fudgey. I used to think I like it closer to the fudge end but this blondie changed my mind. It's not fudgey at all nor is it cakey, can't even place it on the spectrum. Anyway it's approx 3.5" long and 1.5" wide and .75" thick - making up numbers from memory okay The outside is stiff, not crunchy not crusty not hard. The texture is solid yet not dense. It's very satisfying. All over the outside there's big obvious flakes of salt. It ought to be sea salt because it's not an insulting saltiness. Tbh I've never had a sweets with that much salt that obvious on it. It took me by surprise but it was a pleasant surprise every bite. They amount of salt is different every bite. I also must comment how I'm often afraid of white chocolate things being too sweet. This was not at all. I don't think it's completely related to the salt. There's the sweet milkiness without being overly sweet. I don't expect myself to crave this blondie but I'm impressed read more

They moved and remodeled to the space adjacent to the original. Still at the Rockefeller Center concourse level. The new store is lovely! They expanded it to have seating and the atmosphere is consistent with the other locations. They make every cup with great technique and diligence. I love Blue Bottle's coffee beans because they are extremely fresh and the aroma is genuinely delightful. It definitely gets busy during the 2-3 pm afternoon break that the employees in the building take, but their service is usually relatively quick and hospitable. Definitely recommend trying! It is top tier compared to other coffee shop chains (ahem... starbucks for example). read more

The shop was pretty crowded but there was no line and we were able to find seating right outside the shop. Didn't try any of the food items but they looked really good. Fantastic coffee, probably the most consistent around for this third wave coffee that is readily available. They have a few locations which means you should not be settling for the run of the mill coffee anymore. It's around the $4 to $5 mark but that's just become the norm for this tier of quality. It is worth it though, if you are ok spending a little more for a good cup. The cold brew is so good. Flat white is top quality too. They have some interesting other options (coffee tonic) which are for the more adventurous that you won't find elsewhere. They don't really advertise their milk choices but try oat milk in future. It honestly adds a layer of complexity and you don't need to add sugar after that. read more
