I had a great massage at Cha today, the person who took care of me was very nice, thoughtful and did a super strong massage (which I like the most). I got a full body + foot massage. The chair was very comfortable, he had my foot on hot water to begin with, very relaxing... I really enjoyed the hot towels as well, I think it really helped me. I walked in with my neck seriously stressed and a lot of lower back pain, and I walked out feeling great. I highly recommend getting a massage here. read more

Let me start by saying I have had many massages and enjoy them, but the masseuse I had here was dangerous. He started with a temple massage that was too hard and I had to find a way to communicate STOP! Than he begin squeezing my skull and again I had to ask him to STOP. I am not talking a gentle squeeze of the skull and temples I am talking about BRUTE FORCE PRESSURE. I can't believe anyone let alone a masseuse would subject another person to this much pressure to the head. It is unimaginable, reckless and borderline criminal. I still have a headache. The owner of the spa needs to monitor the masseuses behavior and technique before letting them touch a client ***Do not let the masseuses in this spa touch you. They are untrained and reckless*** Legal action is not out of the question if my situation does not improve. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I called ahead and booked services for three of us, and only two of used received any service. We kept asking "what about her" indicating that no one had started on my daughter. This went on and on and FINALLY after 40 minutes when our two services were complete they started on my daughter. No one ever came to explain the situation, they just expected us to waste our time. Their ridiculous excuse was that a previous client was late. Well if that's the case COMMNICATE IT, don't just act as if nothing is wrong. I was pleased to see Cha Spa as a new addition to Montana Ave -- one of my absolute favorite parts of LA and a place I frequent often since I don't live too far away. I tried the 60-minute combo which featured part foot massage and part body massage. The therapist was very strong and did a great job working out the kinks. Here are my only complaints -- the idiot Angelenos that walk in off the street and ask asinine questions in their loudest voice. This happened three times during my massage and I even "shushed" them to no avail. The owners need to put a sign up saying "Please be quiet, massage in session." Since this is one big room with curtain dividers, you hear every little thing. The music helps and I believe I heard a waterfall noise as well. Fixing the noise issue would really help this place in my opinion. Their credit card machine took about 10 minutes to finally print a receipt... I will give them a pass on that since they were kind and they are a new business. I will not be as kind if that happens every time. read more

Went with a couple of friends as well all of whom get massages somewhat frequently and the consenus was pretty much the same. Wasn't crazy about the massage but the place is clean and very nice on the inside. I got off work late and needed a place open late to get my nails looking good. I called at 8pm and was able to get an appointment for 8:30. Score! I accidentally posted a review not knowing I was signed into my friends account so here is the review, on my correct account: So this is for two of my visits: 1 great one worth 4 stars and 1 not so great worth 2 stars, hence the three stars. The first time I went with a friend and got an hour combination massage. It was great. Super relaxing and the masseuse definitely knew what he was doing. Amazing foot massage and used his hands for most of the back massage. I felt like I was at a high masseuse place. So I went back for a second time, alone and for a 90 minute combination. This was a very different experience sadly. I am disappointed in myself first for not getting either of the masseuses names but I could describe them if needed. This second time the 30 min foot massage was good, no where near the prior ones level but still very good. Then it went downhill. He only gave me a back and hip massage, no other body part... For 60 minutes... Of only elbows. To first half was bearable, with lotion. Then he stopped the lotion, placed a rough towel over my back and began DIGGING in. I had to ask him to be softer and still it wasn't enjoyable. I would expect lotion to be used for my entire massage and I would expect that a masseuse would have the strength to not need to use their elbows the entire time! He also kept digging them into my spine, tailbone and shoulder blades. I am now so sore and have a bruise where my hips/tailbone is from his elbow. I feel like in out of adjustment just from the massage he gave. I am so sad that this second one was so awful because I had high hopes after the first. If someone has a masseuse that they recommend there that uses ONLY hands (a little light forearm running down my back is okay) I would love to hear because otherwise I won't be returning. read more

In short: At first glance I would have given this place 5 stars, but their massage is mediocre/not strong enough for my liking and the manicure I got was not the best. I still keep going back because I love the relaxing vibes in the massage room. I will continue to go back for massages, but will not go back for any nail services. Seems very clean all around though. The place is broken up into two sections, the nail area at the front and the massage area in the back. Massage: I always get a 30 min foot reflexology massage ($20). The massage area is serene and dark. They have calm music/sounds playing and also have a small water fountain bubbling. They start the foot massage with a face, neck and shoulder rub, which confused me he first time and I had to confirm with them that I wanted a foot massage. They are more gentle with the actual foot portion of the massage which I'm not a fan of, but I still enjoy the experience because of the atmosphere and how calm it feels in there. It's always a nice little escape from reality. Manicure: The manicure I got was not the best. The pain I experienced when the lady scraped under my nails was the worst pain I have ever experienced getting my nails done. Additionally, I noticed that they were very sloppy when applying the topcoat and missed going over portions of the polish. I also noticed after I left that on one nail part of the polish was removed while they put the top coat on and proceeded to put more top coat on top. So there is a chunk of polish missing with top coat on top. I'm sure you can find other places on Montana who will do a much better job with nails. read more

This is my new favorite nail place!! My mom and I walked here on Father's Day because we had researched them on Yelp and they seemed promising. We walked in and it is just so cute in there. The ambience is amazing and I just love how the whole place is set up. My mom and I got mani-pedis. Katie did my manicure and Alex did my pedicure, & both did an amazing job. It's almost a week later and they still look perfect except for a couple on my hands that legitimately just started chipping. The girls were SO sweet to me and fun to talk to, too. I really enjoyed their company Unfortunately I don't know the name of the woman who did my mom's nails but she was great, too. My mom had developed a migraine and the manicurist actually gave her a head massage after she finished her nails!! It was amazing. I couldn't believe it. And my mom felt significantly better after that, too. They double as a massage place which is actually how they started out so it kind of makes sense, but I will definitely be back here whenever I'm in Santa Monica. They had to have another technician fix the nail after the first technician expected me to wait until she was finished with her new client. I got mani/pedi and 60 min massage. Mani/pedi with Stephanie was 5 stars! Place was clean, she did an awesome job and my nails lasted a week and a half with normal polish!!! Thank you Stephanie! Also side note, I was skiing all week in Utah and they still made it! Massage was 2 stars, idk who I had but it was a female. The setup really freaked me out. It's just a bunch of curtains and you can see everyone getting their massages which Felt super creepy. I got a full body and my curtains were closed. You can hear everything and people came in loudly speaking. I have been in massage parlors like this before and could have overlooked this if the massage was awesome. So as for the massage itself, the first 15 minutes she did this thing where she put a wool like blanket over my body and just pressed down on my back. It was annoying but you can't really talk because everyone can hear you plus I didn't really know where she was going with it. Then the massage itself felt good but I was in so much pain immediately after. I figured I just drink water and it was my body recovering. But I was in pain several days after to the point of waking up in tears. Massages are not cheap so this was super frustrating. Long story short, get a mani/pedi and I have heard they have great foot massages but skip the full body massage in my opinion. read more
