    Cut cuticles

Had a manicure done. The lady did a very messy job. Did not even cover my full nail with polish, it was lumpy, had air bubbles, uneven. I went back the next day to have them redone and the new lady did a very rushed job. She was very aggressive and ended up badly cutting three of my cuticles. My thumb was cut so badly it would not stop bleeding the entire time. She then kept spraying it with alcohol that burned badly and putting cuticle lotion all over it. Very bad service and they do not care about their customers.

Manicurist cut my big toe w metal tool she was rough and careless. It bled a lot. After many years I won’t go back!

Today, March 9, 2021, the woman who I've used several times cut my big toe and laughed as it bled above the nail. Maybe she was embarrassed? She was SO rough with a metal tool pushing my cuticles back she cut my cuticles with the tool and it bled a lot! The attached photo my toe had stopped bleeding but it is still painful later in the evening. She also DID NOT SOAK my hands before the manicure and when I asked the "manager" who was in charge she answered, "we never did that!" I've been a customer there for many years and they always soak my hands and I have no idea why she is making up something? I've never had my nails done anywhere they didn't soaks my hands first!! It was also 57 degrees outside at 10 a.m. today and the "manager" insisted on keeping the door wide open and I was cold even w wool base layer and jacket! Finally, another lady was freezing so she shut the door. They did have customers outside and being 57 degrees I wanted to be warm! These are trying times, however, I now have a cut on my toe which I am monitoring to keep from infecting coupled with a very sloppy manicure hardly worth paying for as they only put a warm towel to prepare the manicure. We have many nail salons here in Santa Monica and I will begin my search and I suggest anyone who wants to be comfortable, not cut and have a professional manicure where your hands are soaked NOT go to ISPA on Montana. Sincerely, Lisa

This place is terrible! The lady who did my manicure cut my cuticle too deep and I was bleeding. Things like this happened and I got it but she never said sorry to me! She put some sorts of hydrogen peroxide on my finger and it was painful. Should she at least ask for my permission? She lift my hand at one point and one of my nails touched her cloth or something and it ruined the polish. Again, she didn't apologize and I asked her to redo that nail. She tried to correct it with the nail polish twice and I had to ask her again to redo it all over because it now looked worst. She didn't smile the entire time. Terrible service!!! The price was $39 and you know what?? I will be more than happy to pay more and get a better service up the street. Will not recommend this place at all!

$60 for a gel mani and regular pedi (no extras). Realize this is Montana Ave but felt like highway robbery. Won't be returning.

They have since remodeled and both the interior and exterior looked beautiful: clean, tastefully decorated and spacious. There is a new lounge area outdoors for women only. It looked European. I got the 50-minute relaxation massage and my therapist really listened to what I wanted her to work on, and she did a really good job. They have a promotion now where if you join, you basically get $50 off per treatment. If I didn't already have a membership with another spa closer to me, I most likely would have joined.

The Santa Monica location has a soft spot in my life as this location was my first Burke Williams experience and I have returned many times, always pleased with the service and kindness of the staff. The initial greeting is warm and professional and I appreciated the tour as I had forgotten where the ladies area is located. The ULTRAfusion facial is heaven and my complexion has never looked better! Every esthetician has been very consistent and I can expect the same protocol at each location and I can't pick a favorite...either spot or person providing the service. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager who took the time to talk for a moment. He must be really busy but I didn't feel rushed. The spa area has charming amenities and I like showering before a treatment and taking advantage of all the goodies in ample supply: mouthwash, cleansers, lotions, etc. Don't forget about the delish tea in the waiting area. Every area was very clean and supplies such as towels were freshened up and always in ample supply. The staff could not be more kind and helpful. The Santa Monica location is easy to find and as an added bonus parking is ample and it's fun to walk to lunch afterwards!

The spa is private; the only people in the entire space are you + the amazing esthetician, Heather. The lobby space is beautiful, green, and inviting. They only use Organic to Green brand products which have very clean ingredients (a huge plus for sensitive skin)! Upon arrival, Heather explained the treatments and we started with body dry brushing + coco oil body treatment. Then, she gave me a scalp scrub + hair mask. This process was probably around 20-25 minutes. Then, I was given one hour total to enjoy the private lounge, infrared sauna (set to 133 degrees F) and steam shower. I spent 25 minutes in the sauna before taking a cold shower using their products, including a lovely body scrub. I also ate a few complementary snacks (mini KIND bars and fruit bars). After that, we concluded with their Signature Facial (~60 minutes) that included steam, aromatherapy, extractions, microdermabrasion, face mask, and much more. All throughout, Heather was very kind and answered all my skincare questions. Would absolutely recommend. I look forward to coming back! Not to mention, the price is really good if you buy the Groupon for the Bungalow Experience. For a total of $160 (Groupon was about $85 with the summer promotion, plus a $75 tip based on the full treatment price), I had 2.5 hours of pure relaxation. I started my day stressed out, and now I feel so much better. TLDR: amazing private spa experience using organic products at a reasonable price! Highly recommend!

Our deep tissue massage experience was impeccable: Lisa technique is the true perfection ( polished through 20 years of service !) and Liv(?) is absolutely amazing therapist as well. I have visited countless spas all over the country, so I write this review with plenty of other good experiences to compare it to. The good: Scheduling was a breeze. I thought it seemed a little unorthodox to not provide a phone number (it seems that appointments are only scheduled via an online form), but I was able to secure the services I wanted on the date/time requested. My husband and I scheduled 90-minute deep tissue massages and facials (60-minute gentleman's for him and 90-minute oxygen for me). Just before we began our massages, a staff member let us know that the esthetician who was supposed to perform my husband's facial called in sick. We were disappointed, but they offered us some products to make up for the last minute cancellation. This was unnecessary and unexpected, but we were touched by the gesture. Additionally, my massage therapist was very sweet. It was an effective and relaxing service. The bad: The spa as a whole simply does not meet the standards of the rest of the hotel (the spa is located inside of the Casa Del Mar). In fact, it feels like the spa was a complete afterthought. The space is super tiny. The relaxation lounge is so small that it feels like you're walking into a closet. The locker room situation - absolutely embarrassing. There is only one restroom, one shower, and no designated area for changing, unless you want to change right in front of the door that could swing open at any moment. Because of this poor locker room design, another guest was changing in the restroom, which just so happened to be the only women's restroom on site. I needed to use the restroom, so I asked a staff member if there were any other ladies' rooms nearby. The only option presented to me was to enter the men's locker room and use the men's restroom. Gross. It probably goes without saying that all of the other basic spa amenities you'd expect to find at a hotel of this caliber, (such as a steam room and sauna, hot tea and so on) are also missing from this establishment. I could've overlooked these issues if the rest of my experience on site was top-notch, and as previously mentioned, my massage was very nice. However, my facial can only be described as hellacious. The esthetician was so aggressive during extractions that I actually burst into tears when I couldn't take the pain anymore. Keep in mind that I receive facials regularly, and have done so for many years. I am familiar with the process. I have NEVER experienced extractions so forceful, and an esthetician so unsympathetic. My skin was unbelievably irritated and inflamed afterwards. Two days post-treatment, and I am still experiencing not only redness and inflammation, but also scabs from the extractions. Unacceptable. I'm shocked and disappointed. I don't want a refund. I don't want or expect anything from the spa or Casa Del Mar in an attempt to make up for this terrible experience. I just wish I hadn't scheduled anything with Sea Wellness Spa in the first place, and believe that other guests should know what they're getting themselves into before visiting.
