Had a manicure done. The lady did a very messy job. Did not even cover my full nail with polish, it was lumpy, had air bubbles, uneven. I went back the next day to have them redone and the new lady did a very rushed job. She was very aggressive and ended up badly cutting three of my cuticles. My thumb was cut so badly it would not stop bleeding the entire time. She then kept spraying it with alcohol that burned badly and putting cuticle lotion all over it. Today, March 9, 2021, the woman who I've used several times cut my big toe and laughed as it bled above the nail. Maybe she was embarrassed? She was SO rough with a metal tool pushing my cuticles back she cut my cuticles with the tool and it bled a lot! The attached photo my toe had stopped bleeding but it is still painful later in the evening. She also DID NOT SOAK my hands before the manicure and when I asked the "manager" who was in charge she answered, "we never did that!" I've been a customer there for many years and they always soak my hands and I have no idea why she is making up something? I've never had my nails done anywhere they didn't soaks my hands first!! It was also 57 degrees outside at 10 a.m. today and the "manager" insisted on keeping the door wide open and I was cold even w wool base layer and jacket! Finally, another lady was freezing so she shut the door. They did have customers outside and being 57 degrees I wanted to be warm! These are trying times, however, I now have a cut on my toe which I am monitoring to keep from infecting coupled with a very sloppy manicure hardly worth paying for as they only put a warm towel to prepare the manicure. We have many nail salons here in Santa Monica and I will begin my search and I suggest anyone who wants to be comfortable, not cut and have a professional manicure where your hands are soaked NOT go to ISPA on Montana. This place is terrible! The lady who did my manicure cut my cuticle too deep and I was bleeding. Things like this happened and I got it but she never said sorry to me! She put some sorts of hydrogen peroxide on my finger and it was painful. Should she at least ask for my permission? She lift my hand at one point and one of my nails touched her cloth or something and it ruined the polish. Again, she didn't apologize and I asked her to redo that nail. She tried to correct it with the nail polish twice and I had to ask her again to redo it all over because it now looked worst. She didn't smile the entire time. Terrible service!!! The price was $39 and you know what?? I will be more than happy to pay more and get a better service up the street. Will not recommend this place at all! read more

I'm giving his place one star because I have to assign it at least one star to write a review. The WORST manicure I've ever had. The person doing my manicure could barely get the polish out of the bottle because it was nearly empty. After asking several times for her to find a different, preferably newer, bottle she finally got one that was pretty much as empty and dry as the first one. It was black nail polish. Not tough to "match". The polish is bubbling and uneven. After repeatedly asking a for a new bottle finally someone else came and did my last pinky nail (they had to start over three times) and it's still bubbly and uneven. Oh yeah and the first tech said it was because of my nail. Seriously? This has never happened before and I've been getting manicures for over thirty years. Apparently I'm to believe that suddenly one nail bed is shorter that it was when I walked in to their shop. Never going back. If you expect to get any kind of decent manicure at this place, you're better off skipping it all together. read more

I like this nail salon. The first time I went for a polish change, and the girl did a really great job. It lasted for an entire week without chipping. The second time I went, I got a pedicure and a polish change on my hands, and it was good. The lady who did my polish change didn't file my nails very well and that polish didn't last for two days, but the pedicure was good and it's still going strong (but that's typical). They were really busy the second time I went. I really like the women who work there. They only ask you once or twice if you want anything extra, and they're not pushy or weird if you say "no thanks." The best part, for me, is how CLEAN it was. All of their tools came from packages of sterile equipment, and they used rubbing alcohol quite a bit just to make sure. That's a big plus for me. All-in-all, it's one of the better nail salons in Santa Monica, and the prices are good. The polish change was around $5 (super cheap!) and I paid $28 for both the pedicure and the polish change the second time. Also - free street parking is always easy to find. read more

I went yesterday to get a manicure. I was not even looked at for 45 MINUTES. They didnt actually start working on me until a full hour after I got there. Two other individuals walked in and were taken care of before me. I know they didn't have appointments because I called to make one and they said they don't take appointments. The lady who did my nails was RUDE. She hurt me two times using a certain tool, I clearly went "Ouch" and jolted my hand away from her and she said NOTHING in return. Not an "Are you okay?" or "I'm sorry." Super unprofessional and just terrible to deal with as a customer. Nails were fine nothing special. I have to admit, I always search out Kim, but it seems that all the ladies there are attentive, hard working professionals who will provide a great manicure and/or pedicure with a smile. Clearly I have no idea about "gels", or the quality of the nail polish, etc. but for this guy they are just right. Just plain rude. I'm writing this review while drying my nails because I am just so appalled at their attitude. I asked for my nail technician to cut my nails shorter because I like them short, and she argued with me for a good 3 minutes about it before she actually did it. Have they not heard that the customer is always right? Onto the manicure itself - it's okay at best. My nail technician didn't thoroughly clean my nails as there are still remnants of my old nail polish on my fingers and underneath my nails. She doused my nails in alcohol, though, so I would have thought that all of the nail polish would come off. I have to say, though, I think it's about who you get. Everyone in front of me got asked if they wanted a massage, which I would have loved had I been offered it. For $15, I expected a nicer staff and a nail dryer. I might come back to try a different technician, but I am so turned off right now that chances are, I'd just spend the $5 more and go back to Bellacures. read more

If attention to detail is your thing, this is not your place. The lady who did my nails left my hand in the warm towel on one side but not the other. Not really sure how that makes any sense? Most everything is at a minimum when it comes to the small things here except the price! Some manicurists are definitely better than others though. I've had two mani/pedis here and I've been very happy with the results. The salon is very clean, quiet, and well ventilated. They have a good selection of polishes to choose from as well. They also have sterilized equipment which they bring out for each client. They opened the package in front of me so I know they were fresh and clean. The woman at the check in desk could be a bit friendlier but no biggie. As for the mani/pedi- I like that they file first, they they massage and wrap your hands in a warm towel to get your cuticles ready. This is my favorite part. The warm towels feel great and since they add cuticle softener and lotion before they wrap, your hands come out feeling super soft. Afterward, they continue like a usual mani/pedi. The two ladies helping me were very nice. They asked if I'd like extra massage or callous remover and when I declined they didn't push. The young girl doing my mani even helped flip my pages on my phone as I read :) The cost is $35 for mani/pedi which is pretty typical for a salon on Montana or in the Palisades. They accept Visa and Mastercard but prefer tips in cash. I didn't have an appointment both times and it was empty (mid week) so I had no problem as a walk in appointment. Give them a try! read more

Unsanitary, unfriendly, not my kind of place! My friend and I made appointments here for manis and pedis the day before my 30th. We got there and they didn't have two chairs together, which was a bummer since we made the appointment so we could hang out. Oh well, I guess that happens. Anyway, just before they sat me I watched a woman get up and they drained her water and just started filling it for me! I asked if they clean it between people and she said yes and sprayed water on it for a few seconds and then just continued to fill it!!! I would have walked out right then, but I'd met a friend there and was trying not to make a big deal. Not only is that gross, but it's completely unsafe. Once she saw how uncomfortable it made me she then took the tools she was about to use and stuck them in the blue fluid for a few minutes first, but I'm sure she wouldn't have, and the other girl didn't do that for my friend. You can seriously get diseases that way! Fast forward a few minutes and a chair opened up next to my friend, I know it might have been a little inconvenient, but I asked to switch chairs so I could sit next to her as we met for a pedi date so we could talk and hangout, and as I mentioned, she made an appointment days in advance. They rushed through her pedi and instead of giving her mani in the chair like they were doing all around, they rushed her out of the chair and moved her across the room so they could help the next customer!!! A customer who indeed got a mani in that exact chair!!! So again we are across the room from each other, and to top it off the polish job on her nails didn't even look professional. It was like a ten minute mani, MAX, and her polish was super uneven. To conclude... The experience wasn't great, I hope I didn't contract a disease from their lack of sanitation, and the polish job was EH... Go somewhere else!!! read more

I wish I had read these reviews before going. The waxing tip would've saved my poor upper lip and arms so much pain. I have sensitive skin and when I asked if they had sensitive wax, I should've known better than to believe the one kind they had was what I actually for sensitive skin (and what I can find in most other salons in the area) But most importantly, this was THE WORST gel manicure I have ever had in my life. And I've had quite a few. And I've had quite a few bad ones. But this seriously topped them all. Not only did the manicurist stab me while cutting my cuticles (which took about 30 minutes), but she made me bleed three times. I had to remind her and practically beg her a number of times to get the gel polish that had been on my nails beforehand off, as she kept telling me it was gone until I'd point to the specific (and very obvious spots of bright pink) that still remained. Also, I don't know what they use or what caused this exactly, but about 4 of my nails hurt like HELL. Like...very very painful. My finger tips were in legit pain. It was probably the alcohol but something about the way she prepped the nails resulted in lots of pain that I've never experienced before in a gel manicure. All of this would be tolerable, in my opinion, if the end result was worth it. Well, it's one day later, and my gel polish has the weirdest dark streaks (my nails are neon pink so the streaks are noticeable). I have no idea what's caused this as I haven't used my hands for anything other than typing today, but she did paint the same spots over and over and over, so that could have something to do with these bizarre dark indents. It looks dirty and gross. I'd love to go and get my money back, but honestly the idea of stepping back into that place just makes my hands hurt. read more
