If you're craving punugulu and mirapakay bhaji, Abhiruchi in Sunnyvale is an absolute must-visit. I've been five times so far, and it has never been a miss--always a hit! Honestly, it's the best I've had in the U.S. The punugulu are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, while the mirapakay bhaji packs just the right amount of spice. It's a to-go place with no seating, but there's plenty of parking, so you can enjoy your meal in your car. I do wish they had seating options, but the food more than makes up for it. We ordered catered food from here for our daughter's birthday party for 30 guests and the food was phenomenal. We got mirchi bajji, gutti vankaya curry, Mango pappu, tindora fry, sambar, vegetable dum biryani, gulab jamun, double ka meetha and rotis. The gutti vankaya, tindora fry, sambar, biryani were so tasty, absolutely delicious. The mirchi bajji was spicy and accompanied with onions and lime juice! We felt the Mango dal was a little more oily than we would like, but tasty nonetheless. We ordered mild spice for everything as it was a kids birthday party and everything was mildly spicy and delicious. All the guests raved about the food and took leftovers home too. The food was freshly prepared and the quantity was generous too. We coordinated with Anitha garu for this order and she was so helpful in suggesting different items for the party and personally ensured that the food arrived on time! Can't have the 3ft mostly hollow cylindrical dosas stay crispy in a container. Nobody buys the hollow dosas in a togo container. The steam renders it soggy and there is little logic in paying 13$ for a soggy mess. Eat the dosa ASAP after ordering. I ate it in the car. The ToGo dosa changed to a cheese/potato masala/red onion/peas/carrot filling where very little of the dosa is an empty shell. Unlike the sit down experience most of the dosa is filled. Raises the cost. Very filling. No appetite for dinner. Other restaurants serve a soggy dosa but not here. This is the equivalent of many dosas in one because of the amount of inside stuffing. Can split between 2 people. Was full after eating 25%. Spring Dosa = Spicy Sauce, potato masala, red onions, cheese, cilarntro, peas, carrot, cabbage, podi. Melted Cheese kept the dosa hot. Ate in car. Best experienced fresh to capture the aroma and texture of hot melted cheese. Like a giant quesadilla for 12.50. They use hIgher quality cheese, not the standard salty low grade cheese pizza parlors use. Mind blowing experience with a dosa crust crispier than a grilled cheese sandwich, the different flavors and textures with the 3 different chutneys and melt in mouth cheese and potato mixture. LIke a cheese stuffed baked potato but 10x better. The red onions bring out the flavor of the masala. They could cost reduce with a cheaper yellow onion. This is closer to a shallot. The peas and carrots didn't have the overcooked frozen veg texture. Don't know how they did this. Bright green and crisp. Tasted like fresh peas. Coconut chutney: superior to madras cafe and ulavarcharu. Nut watered down. Thick. Tempered with small curry leaves, dal, mustard seeds. Can see the fresh small curry leaves. Not iold dried out leaves. Looks like fresh coconut in the chutney. Peanut Chutney: can see the tempered cut bright dried red chili peppers. Not old dark red ones. The flavor changed from a first bite cool sensation to a deepening peanut taste and slight spice you savor the bite. Tremendous. Definitely higher quality than the ulavarcharu peanut chutney. Spinach chutney: never seen this before. Delicious. Slightly spicy. Spring dosa must be 1k+ calories. 2 people meal. Overate but delicious. Reduced appetite for 2 days. Incredible binge experience. I've been a regular customer for the past 2 years and absolutely love your food especially the thalis. Lately, I've noticed the menu has become a bit repetitive (palakura pappu, bendakaya pulusu kura, chamadumpa fry, etc.) super flavourful but repetitive. Earlier, you used to include amazing dishes like majjiga pulusu, gutthi vankaya, beerakaya pachadi and coconut mango pachadi, mango pappu , gongura pappu which I really miss. I'm currently pregnant and often order when I crave home-style food it would be lovely to see more variety or rotating menus again. I stopped by Abhiruchi for a takeout Veg Thali (about $20), and it really hit the spot. The order was ready fast, and the food felt like something straight out of a home kitchen, light, flavorful, and not oily. We recently did catering from abhiruchi for our kid's birthday party, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious--very flavorful and fresh. They had a great variety of dosas that both adults and kids thoroughly enjoyed. They were able to make 6 dosas at a time and were so fast and smooth that guests never had to wait. Everything was well prepared and loved by our guests. This review is for take out only. Usually I only order thali from this place but today I decided to try one of the tiffin combo - idli vada and upma. Upma was simple yet delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how well made this dish was. The medu vada was fried well and was light and airy as it should be. Idli was alright in my opinion. It was a bit hard and thick in the middle - it might very well be a style of idli but I didn't like it as much. The accompanying chutneys and Sambar enhanced the flavors. Wow! I hadn't had thali in a while and whoa this place delivered. They gave such a variety of dishes with rice, roti and fried lentil. There was potato, lentils, vegetables like eggplant and a sweet dessert. Yogurt was provided too! Some stuff was spicy. Both the Mini Idlis and the regular Idlis were very soft. They were clearly made fresh. The Paneer Utthapam and the Onion Utthapam were nicely made and soft and fluffy. The chutneys were fine, and the sambar was fine too. Service was quick at 5 pm on a Thursday. They are a super small restaurant with only a few tables. I'd recommend takeout. read more

Did a ton of research to find this place (since I'm a noob with indian food... literally not sure what I ate/proper way to consume). Abhiruchi continues to be consistently AMAZING. I have a cautious palate that enjoys some heat, this place brought immense value, flavor, and fed me for 3 meals! Here is my go-to: ABHIRUCHI THALI (huge proportion 2-3 persons can eat off it) CHANA MASALA (8oz, because leftovers are somehow even tastier) This next statement is more for the newbies to indian food like me: The ABHIRUCHI THALI is an easy way to explore the cuisine. I feel that it provides an opportunity to try a variety of food for a super reasonable price - so far there hasnt been anything crazy hot. Best Andhra food i've had in the US!! My friend and I visited Abhiruchi for lunch on a weekday. We ordered the south indian thali and were blown away by how tasty, simple and heartwarming the food tasted. We loved each and every dish in the thali. The fry was extremely delish. The dal is probably the best I have had in the recent past. The special rice was Pulihora that day and it was really good. Sambar, rasam, curry etc were pretty good too. This is the absolute best it can get for pure, tasty, and authentic vegetarian Andhra style food. There is no other place I can vouch for more in terms of taste in this area. All of the curries are usually on point in terms of taste and quality, and the times they aren't they are still 4-star quality dishes. However, this place might be hard to navigate in terms of how to eat the food as it is completely traditional, so people who come here generally know what they get and how to eat it. Let me attempt to give some tips if this is your first time trying South Indian thali. When you come here, there is a menu on a whiteboard above the counter. If you want to order separately, you would order from there. Below it, they usually list what they have for the thali. Those are the items given in the Vegetarian Thali. This thali is unlimited, so whatever you receive you can pick and choose and get as much as you want! The initial plate comes with white rice and some kind of roti as the main base. The roti is like a thin whole wheat bread that is usually eaten with the curries offered. In the main plate picture, the curries are the ones on the right of the plate (sorry for my "extra" diagonal photo xD). There is usually a gravy based one and a vegetable fry that is drier. Those taste the best with the roti, but can be eaten with the rice as well. However, the rice is best suited with the green and yellow daal on the top of the plate. It is a spinach based one, but trust me it is one of their best dishes. On the side (as shown in the other picture), you are given a special type of rice, sambar, rasam, and yogurt. The rice is usually cycled out daily with a special type from different parts of South India. The sambar is lentils based, and the rasam is tomato based, and both are eaten with the rice separately. The yogurt is also eaten with the rice with almost any of the other savory sides that are given. Apart from that, the initial plate comes with deep fried wafers and a spicy pickle that can be paired with any of the dishes. It also comes with a sweet on the left side of the plate that is usually eaten as dessert and a spiced buttermilk drink that is given in a cup to consume at any time. I just got take out from this place for lunch today and I'm a huge fan. Ordering on their website was fast and easy through clover. Don't order through GrubHub because there are extra fees! I went with the recommendation that a few yelpers had, which was the abhiruchi thali. For $15.99 you can easily feed two people or have several portions of leftovers. I really enjoyed every curry and on the day I ordered my meal came with two different soups in addition to a huge portion of rice, roti, and a mango pudding dessert among other dishes and side dishes like yogurt and chutneys. I don't eat spicy foods but the curries here were perfectly seasoned. The items that did have a kick weren't too bad, at least nothing the yogurt couldn't temper. I know nothing about Indian cuisine but I like to explore and the food here is delicious. I'll definitely be back for the thali and want to try their dosas next. read more

I've been going here 7-8 years, and the quality over the last couple years has taken a nose dive in my opinion. They used to be a solid 5 stars. The sauces used to be bursting with flavor, but now they just taste like cream and sugar. The naan is typically thick and chewy now, where it used to be thin, light, the perfect bit of crispiness-actual garlic. The garlic naan is now just a mysterious yellow color with no real seasoning on it. The portions seem smaller too. Our last order had 3 a-la -carte entrees, yet only one small container of rice. This one hurts guys, I loved this place and recommended to everyone when the topic of Indian food came up. I was really in the mood for a Thali Indian food and don't matter if it was vegetarian or not. Picked this restaurant based on the reviews. This is a very small place, extremely casuals and cozy, family run business with no frills. Service was quick and the staff is very friendly and extremely polite. The food was served right away. The fried veggies were really overdone, and the rice wasn't hot. It was just warm and a bit sticky and not fluffy as I am used to in other Indian restaurants. Must admit the dinner set is large and I couldn't finish more than half the dinner. Too bad as I am in search of great Indian restaurants. read more
