By no means is Chacho's a neighborhood hidden gem, but it's latin American-inspired foods, along with their low prices, is what sets it apart from other places in the Mission Hill/Longwood neighborhood. It was here that I discovered my love for empanadas. At Chacho's you can choose between beef or chicken empanadas. They are savory and rich in flavor packed in flakey pastries. My go-to place when I used to live in Mission Hill area. This place was literally a block away from my apartment and I did takeout every week or more. Came in here on a whim. It doesn't look like much from outside but the food was great and good prices too. We grabbed two cheese slices and beef and buffalo chicken empanadas. The pizza was very good with a slight crisp on the bottom. The empanadas were fantastic with great flavor, especially the beef. The buf chicken wasn't spicy but tasted good. Hopefully this review will boost Chacho's up to 4 stars, where it truly belongs. This is the only place in Boston where you can get a slice and a taco (my two fave foods) and feel great about both. When I lived on Mission Hill as a Boston newcomer in '04, it took me way too long to discover this gem. It's def the place that all the local kids go after school and that can get annoying. But in the middle of the day this place is chill as can be. The empenadas are also delicious. And you'd be surprised at how filling the tacos are. They're crunchy shells and heated in the oven with cheese (I thought i was the only one who made them this way!) and then topped with the good stuff, to order. Chacho's is the best pizza on the Hill, where options can be pretty scant. I've never ordered delivery and I'd be surprised if they even had it. Best pizza on the planet. The only problem i have is that i ordered a pizza cooked medium rare only a wee bit of pink in the middle. But when i sunk my spoon into the soft crust it only bended to Match the shape of the side of the spoon that i was using to eat the crust. My tears have never been so huge as on that day. I never knew if i was gonna be able to eat pizza again but i but on a pair of blue jeans that fit perfectly to the shape of me legs and i ran, i don't why i just ran. Amazing place. Chachos is surprisingly affordable, has a good selection of food, ranging from pizza, subs, calzones, sandwiches, burritos, fried stuff, and more. The pizza isn't too bad, a bit doughy, but for the price and portion, its something I can overlook! The medium sized pizza barely fits in the box and it looks like a large (comparable to larges at other pizza places). The cheese is delicious and tomato sauce is quite good, its not the best, but again its affordable and fills you up. This place is amazing for the college student who needs to feed his/her hunger without breaking the bank. . .just don't eat too much or you'll be breaking your scale too, this food is terrible for you healthwise! Oh and try the empanadas, they are incredibly delicious :D They are closed on Sundays and close at 9pm everyday. . .make sure to tip the ladies who work there, they deserve it for the work they do. The store looks like it violates every single health code violation in the city. There is a BASEMENT that one can only imagine what goes on down there. The store is tiny and there is grafitti on the walls outside. Often sketchy people are here and their hours are not great (they close early and are closed on Sundays). When I had my amazing 3 Ripped Muscular Guy friends (all single by the way) helped me move out of my apartment this past August I bought one of their super large pizza's. For $25 I got a GIANT pepperoni pizza.. the slices were 4 inches longer than the plate! One pizza did all of us in, that and a 30 rack of PBR. Really great Argentinian food. The empanadas are to die for. How good can it get with a mixture of minced meat, spices, peppers, egg in a soft but firm pastry coating? Pretty damn good! I have picked up empanadas for parties and they have disappeared within 10 mins of arriving. The place is kind if a hole in the wall- but of the best kind it can get. The people including the owner is super friendly and are always happy to chat about food or the World Cup or anything else while you wait. The prices are great and real good value for money any day. The only thing that baffles me about this place is that it looks like a generic pizza and subs place from outside. While they have great pizzas and subs, it is the Argentinian style dinners and sides that really stand out. These dishes are the superstars - why not advertise them boldly out front? That's what sets apart this place from any pizza sub place...it is muy epico! read more

Good pizza, especially the chicken slice. The slices are big, with thick, fluffy crusts, and never burnt. The location is great for me, which helps. The only problems are that they close kind of early, and they're not open on Sundays. They take credit cards, but I think there's a five dollar limit (I usually let them just round up to $5 when my food is like, $3 or 4, and they always seem to genuinely appreciate it). The staff is nice and the food is really cheap. Empanadas are delicious and so was their rice and beans. Pizza is dirt cheap but huge size. Not much in the flavor department but by the time I load it up with all the seasonings it's great. Fries are standard, no complaints, and huge portion for the price. Regret not trying more of their other menu items since now I no longer live close by. I know they deliver so maybe i'll order from them sometime soon. Ordered an Extra Large Cheese Pizza Pie w/ extra sauce. The pie was HUGE for $16.00! Unfortunately the taste wasn't stellar. It wasn't horrible but it didn't blow my mind like I was hoping. It would be easy to pass this little hole in the wall by... But going in you only find a small clean establishment with deliciously made fresh uncomplicated food. I had the pork sub which is made with fresh pork, cut to order, and just placed inside fresh bread with a little mayo and mustard - nothing more. The result is delicious (this coming from someone born and raised in Puerto Rico, who has also lived in NYC). Def. great pizza we travel 2 cities over just to eat Chachos pizza. The best part of the pizza is its size for the cost. The slice is huge and thick so what if its greasy?? Pizza is known to be greasy any where you go so just dab it with a napkin. The subs are also really great as well. I usually get the cheeseburger sub or ham and cheese. They toast it and load it up without an extra charge for onions, pickles,etc. What other place does that without cost? On top of that the size of the subs are huge. My husband, me and my child can eat and drink and be full for less than 10 dollars you can't beat that!! I'd like to extol the virtues of ordering an extra large pizza from Chacho's. For the price of a large pizza at most places you get something that barely fits through the door to bring it home. It's huge. I have to tilt it to get it in my apartment. I've yet to meet a girl that can finish a whole slice. One time I managed to eat two whole XL slices. It was so delicious that I couldn't stop.
