I've now visited Papa's pizza twice, both times to grab some slices from the Too Good to Go app. The restaurant is a cozy hole in the wall near Brigham Circle, but it does have a small amount of seating available. The cashier/server was pleasant and quick, and he grabbed three still warm slices of pizza to give me on my way out. I had a cheese slice and a veggie slice. Both slices had good flavor, but they were slightly more greasy than I expected. They could have used a bit more time in the oven to crisp up. Overall, though, I found this place a pleasant place to eat and a good deal for a night time snack. I'd definitely visit here again and recommend it if you happen to be in the area. They've got a whole menu of specialty pizzas, calzones, wings, fries, etc. I was in a rush so grabbed a slice of pepperoni and Hawaiian. The individual slices are HUGE. Bigger than my head, and only costs $3.50 for single toppings and $4.00 for specialty slices. If you go for plain cheese it's $3.00 a slice. The only reason I knocked off 1 star is because they wasn't as much pepperoni or ham + pineapple as I would've liked, but it definitely hit the spot! This has never happened to me before, I am not happy at all. Long story short, this place took my money, never delivered my food, and is now refusing to answer the phone when I call. I called Papa's at 8:00 pm and placed an order for delivery. They told me that it was busy so my order would be delivered in 1 hour. I said fine and gave them my credit card over the phone and they charged me $20.00. Fast forward two hours later, my food still has not arrived and I call them once--no answer, twice--no answer, three times-- still no answer. I ended up calling them 8 times over the course of 15 minutes and nobody is picking up the phone at all. I'm not getting a busy signal, it just rings without an answer until it eventually disconnects. I got some random girl's voice mail on one try and left a message, but still no response. So now I guess I am going to have to call my credit card company in the morning and contest this transaction. I came here thinking it was the old Il Mondo's, not realizing that they had relocated down the street. We came here late on a Friday night, right before closing and got a buffalo chicken pizza. Pretty good pizza but can't say it's as good as Il Mondo's. It was a nice thinner crust pizza that had just enough buffalo sauce. This place just opened in mission hills and is cranking out some pretty tasty dishes with excellent customer service. First time I went there late on a Thursday night and they were basically closed but made me an ex large Italian stallion with capicola, ham, prosciutto and salami that hit the spot. I've since enjoyed twice the Fenway calzone with sausage and peppers in which care is taken to saute' the peppers and onions before added to the calzone giving it an extra layer of flavor. I've had the pasta Alfredo with chicken and broccoli twice. Their boneless buffalo chicken tenders are very tasty and come with your choice of sauce on the side. The tenders are pretty legit without sauce though. I've pictured everything I've tried so far except the Italian stallion because I ate that too fast. The chicken Alfredo and penne is great but the garlic bread is small, but the pasta is well worth the price because you get a large portion. The reason I gave the place four stars is because the cashier is extremely rude, every time I go in, I fight myself from yelling at her. She has purple hair and is mildly disrespectful, she brings the business down in a huge manner, her sly comments are entirely unacceptable and she rushes you and berates you. It's not appropriate! The food is OK. Regular, run of the mill greasy pizza shop--nothing to write home about. The service though is absolutely atrocious. The first time I ordered from them they completely forgot my order and nobody in the store would answer the phone for the following 3 hours. Today when I ordered, the delivery guy showed up 30 minutes late, and then had the balls to be rude to me and make aggressive comments when it took me 90 seconds to go meet him at the entrance of my building. New place that just opened up this summer. The previous spot that was here before - IL mundo which apparently just moved down the street - was a filthy disaster that served pizza like what you'd find in a 7-11 - good riddance to them! The new owners here renovated the inside completely and it's like a brand new restaurant. I've been here 3 times and my favorite is the standard cheese slice. I'm from New York and I've had a lot of good pizza but this slice measures up. I agree with the other reviewer - the buffalo is good, and I had a solid steak and cheese on one of my visits. I don't get the previous reviewer's writeup - if it was so bad why did he go back? I make return trips to places I LIKE. LOL. Anyway I had a very different experience - the pizza wasn't greasy and the steak and cheese, which I also had on a different occasion was solid. The staff is friendly and service-oriented - complete 180 from the previous place that had been here before where the staff was RUDE and couldn't care less about getting your order right. This restaurant just opened to today so I thought I would give it a try. This pizza shop took place of IL Mondo pizzeria that is now down the street. I work next to this restaurant so it would be a big plus to have a good restaurant nearby. Sadly, this is the worst pizza shop I have ever been to. I walked in and expected them to be stocked up on PEAK LUNCH HOUR and on their first day but, they only had 2 slices of cheese. Only 2 slices on the whole rack!!! Ha ha ha!!! I took the 2 slices but my co workers didn't have anything to eat. The pizza was soaked in grease and was terrible! I threw out the rest and walked to up to IL Mondo's where I had a really good buffalo chicken slice. They had all 8 different pizzas out!! Now that's a pizza shop!! I would not be surprised if this pizza shop closes within a month. UPDATE: I went to Papa's pizza again to give them another chance and try one of their subs another reviewer liked. Wow, that was a mistake, again. I got a steak and cheese and it was very dry and looked like dog food. And it had very little cheese. I also got a soda which was a week out of date. My general impression is that the ownership is definitely interested in quality service, which is far superior to the prior owner in IL Mondo pizzeria. Pretty standard pizza joint, but they do it well. They usually have the standard slices (cheese, pepperoni, buffalo chicken, etc), but also have some slightly less ordinary ones like chicken bacon ranch and chicken with banana peppers and tangy sauce (that one is nice). The subs are also done pretty well, I like the spicy turkey sub, buffalo burrito and papas steak and cheese. I like this place. The pizza is really good and the sandwiches are great. The pizza is usually a little on the crispy side which I like, and they're generous with the toppings. So far I've had the chicken bacon ranch and buffalo chicken pizzas which were really good. They make a really good cheesesteak and I enjoy their chicken finger subs a lot too.
