The inside of this restaurant was under construction so we ordered from drive through in the evening. Order was fast and if you order beans there is pork in them. Thank goodness we asked first because we don't eat pork. The portions are large even if you order small. We ordered large quesadillas and a medium pile of beef nachos. Quesadillas were very tasty. The nachos were not. Only cheese on top. There was no veggies or flavor. It was oily. I wouldn't order it again but would order quesadillas. read more

This review is a little biased because the first time I went I got the brisket tacos and now I can't convince myself to try anything else. Brisket is flavorful, juicy, and some of the best I've ever had. I never enjoy the rice and beans at Mexican restaurants but Wow, they do it right. The best nachos is town. Carries its weight in cheese and extra cheese. This place is a paradise. So much so that they have varieties of nachos. When you get the menu carefully observe the size as some of the nacho orders for example King Kong are of rather large size. They navigate their way to your table with a placard with funny characters names like "Winnie the Pooh". Definitely would visit in the wee hours after a fun party as it's open 24 hours. Even go during a spurs or NFL game. They have amazing taco varieties if you're not feeling nachos. There's tons of seating, but if you go in with someone have them sit while you order it'll save you time finding a spot. When I hit the salsa bar I get a to go container and put the little bowls of salsa in there so I don't carry all the little containers one by one to my seat. To go containers under salsa bar. My little brother then made us go to Cane's for HIS midnight snack on medical and Fred.. upon getting home at NOW 1:00am I ate my Puffy taco , my mom her Gordita and, we Put dad's food in this huge brown bag in the microwave so when he woke up he would have a surprise!!(! I had high hopes on this place based on what my daughter said. This rating is based on the total experience, not the food. Don't you just love it when you go to a new place, and the folks working do everything they can to make sure you have a good experience? Well, this was not one of those instances. When we walked up to the register, the guy working, paid little attention to us. When he finally did look up, he took our order without saying anything. When he messed up the order and overcharged us, he made it seem like a "big deal" to correct it. He never said anything about the salsa bar or the chip station with warm salsa. We had to figure that out on our own. There were 3 of us, and we decided to split a monster order of nachos. These come loaded with beans, chicken, beef, and cheese. Of course, it also comes with a bowl of queso. The order was very slow in coming out, but they do deliver it to your table. The order was huge! I think it could have fed the Dallas Cowboys offensive line. The platter was about the size of a very large pizza, and the food was stacked nearly 4 inches high. We dug in but probably ate only half of it (It would have been nice if the help suggested the half order). The food did taste very good, and I really thought the steak fajita was the best. Well where to begin it is a mixed review. On one hand if you want to go at 2am and drunk it is an experience. A really good one. A go BIG or go home night. The food is always great. It is a mixed crowd many drunk and loud. Mind your business and you king Kong nachos and there will be no problems. We usually get the King Kong nacho and almost 9/10 never finish it. They are amazing and piled with cheese. That is an understatement. It consist of a huge plate of the cheesiest nachos you will have in your life. It also comes with three bowls consisting of guacamole, sour cream, and delicious queso. Best nachos ever. However the only reason for only three stars is their cleanliness. I understand where i am walking into at 2 am, but I've been there in the day time and it is not pretty. Everything has mass amounts of sticky substance all over. I couldn't even pick up the menu. I'm updating my review from before. The place is still dirty as before. Needs a remodel badly for the increase in prices. Cashiers aren't the friendliest and it makes it a little weird that there is a tipping line when there really isn't a waiter. Last time I was here I had to go up to the cook line and get my own food because someone behind me in line somehow got their food before me. This visit after ordering my 1/2 brisket burrito, the cashier asked if they had brisket . Two people said yes. As soon as I pay, fill my cup with tea, they flag me down and tell me they don't have brisket. Very disappointing and the steal they replaced it with just ok. I wish I could give 0 stars. First, the wait was over 20 minutes in the drive thru. Then, when I got my burrito it looked like they had just thrown a bunch of toppings in a tortilla then folded it over. It wasn't even closed. Then I sent it back and they gave me a "new" one that looked exactly the same. So that tells me they don't know how to roll a burrito and close it. Having issues with Chachos. Sad face. First pic is of the expeditor who picked up a tortilla chip with a bare hand from the customer chip bar (which is marked "use tongs only") and the proceeds to dip it into the green sauce at the salsa station and eat it! Licks his fingers and walks back inside the open kitchen area, picking up "fresh" customer dishes and delivers to the cook line. Then walks over and picks up raw product to be cooked and throws it in the grill- all without washing his hands after eating and licking off of them. Very disturbing. Next is where it's ramped up - and we should all be outraged by this. A very tweaked out, can't stand up, can't stand still, unzipped pants, 30 something women gets in line to get a drink. I'm waiting because she is very obviously under the influence and everyone next to her in line observed it. This is at 4 pm in the afternoon. Fully expecting for her to be denied alcohol, I was floored when she was served. Second picture is of the guy that actually serves her alcohol. She stumbles back and forth with her drink in her hand and fumbles toward the salsa bar, grabbing limes with her bare hands and squeezing then in her drink and then stuffing the rinds in her pockets)when she could find them). You might ask - why is this the restaurants fault? BECAUSE, the cook line is directly in front of where this women was stumbling around and every other person in the place noticed how messed up this person was yet they still served her! The "licking my fingers and still serving customers" guy finally came out from the open kitchen and did call her out and took her outside appearing to remove her from the place. Way too late. What happened Chacho's?!? You used to be one of my favorites in San Antonio but my last to go visit with ya'll left me questioning my feelings for you. Customer service? Non-existent. The girl that took our order and gave us our teas seriously seemed pissed off at the world. No smile, no thank you, nothing. And yet she passed me the credit card receipt and I still tipped her because I felt like it was just the right thing to do. I did not feel good about it. The food was terribly packed. The sauce from our beef fajitas soaked the entire brown paper bag, it didn't have ANY sauteed onions and they didn't give us any salsa at all. How do you get a family sized fajita dinner and get absolutely no salsa? The container that held the fixings for our fajitas almost smashed to the ground when I removed it from the bag because the container was the cheapest Styrofoam I have ever seen. Next came the fajita dinner sides. The potatoes were super salty, the rice was dry and flavorless and the beans were blah. Bad service, bad food, slow drive thru. I don't have anything good to say about my visit. Chacho's I think it's time we part ways because I think I can find a better quality fast food Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. The food is pretty good at this location, when we can get it. They claim to be 24/7 but when I usually go it's hit or miss. I would say I can get breakfast 2-3 times out of my work week. if I stop by for breakfast tacos around 530 there's a big chance they are not serving because of whatever issue they may be having. I'm lucky if they even tell me they are not serving, theres been times I'll sit there and nothing. As I pull up to the window they'll just stare and gesture that they are closed. You'd think they'd have whatever issue they have a few times a week they'd have it addressed by now! The restaurant grounds are usually unkept as well. I've actually had coworkers tell me they didn't think they were still open because the grounds look over grown and dirty. My suggestion would be to focus on this location and make sure everything is running as it should especially if they claim to be open 24/7, and if not then change that advertisement! read more

I say 3.5 stars, but will round down to 3 stars rather than 4 stars bc I wouldn't drive across town for the food. A surprising star on their menu is a grilled chicken breast Caesars salad. This place is kind of a hidden gem. It is kind of old and beat-down inside and dirty...but the food is LA-GIT. I had the chicken combo platter for lunch and it was like $6.50 and it was a LOT of food. The chicken soft taco had grease running out onto my fingers and was delicious. Their beans were really good, which is one of my criteria for a Mexican food place. They have serve-yourself all-you-can-eat chips and they are good, thick tortilla chips. They also have a salsa bar and the dark roasted salsa and pico de gallo were good and also fresh. (Sometimes those serve yourself bars scare me wondering how long something was out there). My boss had their beef enchiladas which I may or may not have helped him finish and they were delicious! The guacamole was also very good. I saw a teenage kid 2 tables over come sit down with the biggest burrito I've ever seen. Ever. Like the size of half my arm but bigger, and covered in queso. He destroyed it. They have The drive-thru system here down pretty well, and seemed to get a large portion of their business this way. There's tortillas are extra, but honestly are pretty damn good and worth it. Although the drive-thru is very tempting, I would recommend that you go inside for this place. The selection of salsas and fixin's is awesome at this place. They've got such a great variety of salsas, each one is more delicious than the last. The tacos are on special before 10a, and they will make anything that's not on the menu, and throw it in a taco for you. So don't be timid with your taco ordering skills! It does get a bit loud in this place, but that's probably because of the margaritas. They're fairly strong, but incredibly sweet. They won't be winning any margarita awards anytime soon. This is the last time I have been disrespected by the employees at this location. Every time I call on the phone they are rude, hang up on me, or put me on hold 15 minutes on end. Today reached a whole new level. I called and simply asked "can I place an order to go?" I was answered with "no I'm sorry we are too busy". My response was "I'm sorry what?" because the person mumbled it so quickly I wasnt sure I heard correctly. And immediately after asking the question she hung up on me. If you're too busy to take calls and to be polite to your customers then you shouldnt be in business. I understand how busy this location is but the disrespect is unnecessary. I was a regular at this location but I should have left sooner. I will never come to this location again nor will I bring my family and friends here as I have been. I love this place. To the naysayers, I say... stop. What Chacho's is not: it's not fine dining, it's not fancy and it's NOT expensive. Chacho's is: fun place; great (read strong) drinks; huge, repeat HUGE portions made fresh to order; AND inexpensive. I've never had a problem. I go in and treat the staff the same as I would ANY restaurant whether it's "fine dining" or a "food truck". Perhaps common courtesy pays off... My chicken quesadilla was DELICIOUS! Ordered fajitas and all the fixings, rice, beans, tortillas and fried papas. Well the steakhouse beef fajitas are NOT WORTH the extra charge. We got thinly cut beef that was OVER SEASONED AND SALTY. The drive thru order was badly packaged as the containers were placed badly and leaked all over making the different bags tear when unpackaged. So here we go.... Steakhouse fajitas are a JOKE, over seasoned and barely cooked, rice and beans are passable if you have never had good Mexican food. Guacamole is overpowered by onion and gross, I did not even eat the soggy looking enchiladas that we ordered. Yucky and nasty I should have stuck to my guns and told my old man to go to Las Palapas. Chachos food is great when you're drunk off your ass otherwise it's shit. It had been a while since we got food from Chachos and we went cuz the hubby recently gotten over covid, I still have all my taste buds though and it was not worth it.
