Met a few of my 80's HS football buddies here for lunch one afternoon and was wondering why I had not heard of the place before. To put it in perspective, this is the same group of boys that got thrown out of an all you can eat Pizza Hut back in the day, so food is an important part of our identity. The lack of street appeal from the building front may make others shy away from this place, but when I saw the long line of cars coming through the drive thru, I knew a good lunch was about to take place. The boys took down their lunch plates with such speed, I barely had time to reminisce from the past. I was pretty sure if this was a buffet, then we were changing the crews name to something related to Tex-Mex. The sound of those delicious crunchy taco shells smacking in the background and the tearing and ripping of the flour tortillas could be embarrassing for others to witness, but for us, it was what we do. Highly recommend. Really the standard of breakfast tacos others judged against. Consistently great tortillas. Stuffed tacos. Great enchilada assortment (try the guisada!). Nice and clean, friendly folks, reasonably priced. Been to multiple Tommy's around town, like this one the best. Parking a bit tight, but lots of tables so never a wait (seat yourself). Came here the other day with my fiance and her friend. I did not have any trouble finding parking when I showed up. A couple notes about parking. There are multiple signs on the door and in Tommy's telling customers not to park at Cash America or they will be towed. I do not recall any in the parking lot itself. The first sign I remember seeing is on the front door after I already parked. Another note is that they use the front of building for pick up. I did not have any issues getting into the space because there were no cars lined up for pick up when I got there. When it was time to leave, I did see a couple cars having an issue getting out of their spot because other car lined up in the front of Tommy's. When we got into the restaurant, there was plenty of seating and we quickly found a table. The waitress was nice and was quick to respond to us. I order two tacos. One was sausage and egg. The other was bacon and egg. The food came out fast and was very tasty. I recommend this place for their food and service. Hopefully this review helps you with parking. read more

We had reserved the separate dining room for a luncheon following a funeral service. We met with the Mgr. Adrianaa few days before and she was very accommodating and helpful. The size of the room was perfect for the amount of guests we had, and our dedicated waitress, I believe was Marie, was outstanding. She was vey attentive to our needs and went above and beyond, ensuring that we were taken care of. We chose 2 separate menu items for our guests to choose from, and they were delicious. They also provided Tea and coffee that paired well with the cake that we brought in. There was no deposit required, or a separate fee, just the customary gratuity for large parties. Just moved to San Antonio and scoping out the breakfast offerings. Have had some winners (Ida Claire) and some losers (Callum's Attaboy). Tommy's pretty much hit a new low. Horrible migas, itsy bitsy tortilla chips with burnt eggs. Corn tortillas were good as was the coffee. Wait staff are excellent and attentive. Visited the restaurant on a Sunday morning and ordered two tacos on flour while my best friend ordered one taco and a pancake with a soda. The service was very quick, our server was incredibly sweet and very attentive! The restaurant smelled like maple syrup (which prompted the pancake craving) and was oddly a comforting and nostalgic smell. The flour tortillas? Freakin' phenomenal! Finally got to try their breakfast tacos. The first one I tried was the Huevos A la Mexicana and it was very flavorful. but the filling was very skimpy. The breakfast tacos are almost 3 dollars a taco and you would think they wouldn't skimp on the filling. I had the same issue with the chorizo and egg. Very little filling. I had lunch today at Tommy's in San Pedro. The building is a bit older and slightly run-down, but don't let that fool you--the staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's self-seating, so you can sit wherever you like. Parking can be tight, and do not park in the pawn shop's lot next door--your vehicle will be towed. As for the food, I ordered the carne guisada enchiladas plate, which came with two enchiladas (filled with American cheese), rice and beans, and two homemade flour tortillas. The food was absolutely delicious, and the price? Only $10! In today's economy, that's a real bargain. You'll easily pay more than that at a burger joint for a greasy burger and fries. The food is as good as it always has been. If you want decent/acceptable service, Taco House is across the street. Teka Molino is up the street towards the mall on the left. Santos is up Jackson Keller and your coffee will never be empty. I am tired of simple mistakes becoming "my fault" because of ignorant pride. Visited Tommy's #40 on San Pedro and the waitresses were very friendly but the manager was unprofessional. She reprimanded the waitresses in the common area (which is humiliating) for accommodating my request, which I believe is great customer service and I agreed to pay the upcharge but then came to my table and let me and my family know it would not be done next time we come in. I let her know we drove in 2 hours eat at Tommy's so we don't frequent the restaurant often. All I asked for was a side of fideo, not a bowl, let's be honest that's maybe $2.00 at most and she proceeded to talk over me. Horrible customer service. Adrianna is the worst management I have ever had. We ordered a potato and chorizo taco and it was all potato. My husband asked for more chorizo. The manager Adrianna said they would have to charge for it. Then he asked Adrianna to take the taco off the bill. Adrianna refused and they wrapped it up so we could take it home and add our own chorizo. What???? Crazy times. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

I come to eat at Tommy's Restaurant at least once or twice a month with my mother. The food comes out to us within 10-15 minutes soon as we order our meals. Hot and delicious and cold Big Red soda drink. Their price looks fair to me and my mother loves to order off their "today special", its her way of trying something new. They have TVs you can watch while you wait and eat. Sport and News channel. The last Tommy's waitress we had (Named Stacy) was super nice and very patient as I sometimes hesitate on beef or chicken on my tacos. I am always fill/full and satisfied with the portions on the plate. My mother and I enjoy coming to Tommy's Restaurant and will continue to do so. read more

I have been a consistent customer for the past year. When I first started coming, I loved it. The food and the service were outstanding. The last several times the food was great but the service was very slow. I sat at a table and waited up to 10 minutes to get someone to wait on me. When you try to make eye contact with one of the servers, they look away. Forget getting your drink refilled as you have to ask for it or chase someone down. Then, when you go to check out, the cashier is never there. You stand and wait and wait until the cashier finally shows up. I wonder how many customers get tired of waiting and just leave. So, if you have a lot of time and patience, I would say try it out. If not, there are other restaurants on San Pedro. I am sure they would appreciate your business as well. read more

The location off San Pedro has plenty of parking on all sides of the building. They also offer a drive up in the front of the restaurant. The Chilaquiles plate here is delicious and my favorite to order. The corn pieces are very crispy which is my preference. We always receive our food shortly after ordering and the wait staff are very attentive and friendly. The coffee is great too. This is a good place to go with a large group because of the space and because you pay up front before you leave making it easier to split checks and pay for yourself or your smaller party within your group. read more

Tommy's at Silicon Dr. San Antonio Tx. I called in an order and it came out to $11. I was told that their policy is if it's more than $10 dollars they need to charge it on a credit card. I had no problem but I was driving using Bluetooth. I got to the drive thru and called in and spoke to Liberty (same person who took my order) and told her I was 3 cars behind and if she can start on my order and she said no until I pay with my credit card. I said ok. When I got to the window. I gave her my credit card. She then told me it would be 10-15 minutes for my order or if I wanted to cancel. I informed her that I was already here and I'll wait. She then said to me I would have to drive around and get back in line in the drive thru to pick up my order. Why? Could I just wait outside and someone bring me the order just like other restaurants do it. Food is good but Horrible experience. read more

We went to this location as the one we wanted to try was packed. So getting in here we weren't greeted by anyone or told to sit or anything so we just picked a table. The table smelled DISGUSTING. My son almost threw up because it smelled so bad. We moved and same thing. We flagged a waitress down and asked her about it, she said oh it's the cleaner we use. I told her I'm a mom and I clean all the time with bleach, that was not it. I asked her when was the last time they threw their rags away and bought new, or had a service clean their table rags, she just smiled and said oh I don't know. GROSS. Germ filled table rags for the win. So I told my kids and husband not to touch the table. The food was good. I got cheese enchiladas and they were delicious. My husband got the caldo and it was great. So the only thing wrong with this place is their cleaning technique. Other than that it is a fantastic place for food. Our waitress returned a couple of times to check on us but was not overbearing. Overall it was a great place, just please change out your cleaning rags or use a different cleaner. read more

I normally like Tommy's Restaurant's food. Today I ordered a Carne Guisada plate. The flour tortillas were wrapped in foil, then placed on top of the rice. I guess they don't understand "cross contamination. My server brought the plate and said " I'll check on you in a while", then never came back. I asked the cashier about a refill, and her response was to point to the back of the restaurant. I asked if I needed to go back the and ask for a refill on my own, and she just nodded. Waitress seemed in a rush, she finally brought out our food. The plate I ordered chilaquiles plate was ice cold. So tells me they pre cook and store in a refrigerator. Tommy's is a good spot for your classic low maintenance breakfast taco place. If you need something quick and reliable, this would be a solid pick. The omelette was filled with ham and veggies and covered in cheese which is great depending on your mood and diet. I can't personally eat it everyday but it was definitely good and filled me up for a morning on the golf course just down the street. I wouldn't expect anything crazy or extravagant but I'd say that this place is very reliable and you will know what you're going to get every single time. My friend that came here with me also had a bunch of free refills for his 32oz sweet tea so that is also a plus. Tables and menus do feel like they need a wipe down but during these times you also need to take your own precautions. read more

They take a long time to actually acknowledge you as a customer and if you have a to-go order and you see your name and you decide to grab your food they get all pissy even though the leave the food in the front for pickups. They easily need to come up with a better system for to-go orders if they are having so much problems. I think it's annoying to give me attitude because i see my order and I use common sense. read more

Had not been to Tommy's in a couple of years and went back this morning for breakfast. Started out with chips and queso and was disappointed with the lack of flavor it had. It didn't even look good. We ordered a macho taco, chorizo and egg taco, bean and cheese taco, and one pancake. Macho taco is a Mexican barbacoa and I added guacamole. It was very good and know why this is what Tommy's is known for. Be sure and get one and add a Big Red, it's from the fountain which is the best. Chorizo had good flavor and the pancake was good. Service was not so good, it looked like our waitress had half of the restaurant. Probably a staffing issue. Will go back for the barbacoa. read more

Not my favorite Tommy's restaurant, but there are others. I am a driver and I always stop in, but it always smells like sewage which grosses me out. I've literally walked in and seen people holding their shirts over their nose while they're sitting at the table. Also your front desk, girl is always flirting with staff or guest and doesn't bother to even look up at you when you're waiting there to check out. Just by the service of the cashier and the smell of a store I would never eat here. Check out the other Tommy's. They're amazing. read more
