Based on the reviews, we decided to give this place a try. Let me start with the service, its so bad! They have that 'look busy do nothing' sort of vibe. Their servers would be running around and shouting, they wouldn't listen to your order properly, they would just put food or drinks on your table while running back and forth without even looking at you. I give them 5 star for the idea - instead of marketing as Indo/Pak, they just successfully marketed Pakistani culture. I have already been here 3/4 times and the guests loved it too. You would have excellent time with your family if you don't mind the long lines and a bit of unorganization from the management. Food is bit expensive - will deduct a 0.25 point for that. Parking ain't free around - deducting another 0.25. Unorganization: 0.25 I think 4.25/5 is a fair score for them. I take my reviews very seriously. A 5 star review means you're not only recommending an establishment, you're actually vouching for it. Chai Chenak is a 5 star restaurant. The rice was rich with fragrance and flavor. The Karhai Ghosht was so good - you wish the restaurant was empty so you could scrape off the serving dish. The Naan was piping hot and exploded with incredible layers of flavor. The samosas were just right. The Mango Lassi was delightful. This is a place to visit and revisit and revisit again. If you like Halal authentic Pakistani food - visit Chai Chenak after 5pm for their absolutely fantastic entrees. I stopped here for lunch. The street food hit the spot - but dinner is where the staff, cooks, ownership and their talented Chef Khizer shine bright. You will not find "butter chicken" here. Just ignore some of these "elite" yelpers that leave low reviews. I don't know what they want but they need to be shipped off to Mars especially the guy Taj writing a whole novel about the food and leaving a 3 star because he thinks the chikcen is old. So I read all the reviews and I still wanted to try this place out !! I must say the customer service sucks !!!! Waiters are rude and will literally ignore you !! I waited for the waiters to come take my order and kept on telling them I'm waiting and they would literally walk pass my table !! I love this place and I come here all the time. The decor is adorable and definitely worth taking your out of town family members and friends, especially those missing Pakistan! I was so happy to see a Pakistani place with such nice presentation, something we don't have enough of, and cute seating to brings friends and family. The chai is ok but I am not much of a chai drinker. The snacks are very tasty. I reccomend the chicken garlic mayo roll, papdi Chaat, and bun kebab. You can't really go wrong with the food! Only con of this place is that the service is not very good, especially when it's busy so try to avoid coming at nights (weekends especially). read more

Ordered to go. The pratha rolls seems old and reheated it was so hard to chew seemed like you're eating old white flat bread . Nothing was fresh. My kids couldn't chew that either. When I called the lady got defensive that they made it fresh. No way it seemed like it was fresh. Was wrapped so poorly and it was too oily. The tea was cold. Pathetic food and customer service. Cute little place in the heart of New Brunswick. Interesting flavors, they have their own twist on the typical tikka masala and kadai's. Came here on a Friday evening and boy was it packed! Rightfully so because this restaurant was super cute. Decor was on point and the food was tasty. I got papri chaat, chicken tikka karahi, chicken tikka and cheese paratha, falooda, mango mojito, and their Kashmiri chai. Everything was good! I have been seeing this place on my friends stories for the past few days and went with a few friends to try it out. Upon arriving, it was confusing wether or not we seat ourselves or have to wait to be seated, so after a few moments of confusion we were seated. We got the menus, looked through them, there were only a few chai options but very typical desi ones. Along with the drinks there were a fair amount of food options from light snacks to heavier items. We all ordered two kheema parathas and dhaka chicken. The food was delicious but took a while to come out. It took even longer for the chai's to come out which surprised us. My one friend and I got masala chai and doodh patti and it was hard for us to differentiate on who's chai was who's. Chai Chenak We used to like Chai Chenak food when they started the restuarant on George St., New Brunswick. We frequented the place because we liked their karahi and that was the main reason, we wanted them to cater for our upcoming event. One thing we learnt through this process was they are very un professional and unreliable. The kept sending us pictures of how they are going to organize the event and when they can provide a quote etc. mainly dilly dallying us for weeks and in the end they stopped responding without simply saying that we are too busy or we don't have resources or plainly we are not interested. This place RSVP process is a f***ing joke. We (two adults) arrived (on Friday afternoon) all the way from city and with a 1 year old baby based off friend recommendation. There were plenty of seating available but for some reason, we were advised that there is an hour wait and no high chairs and you can only sit and eat for 1 hour. GTFOH.
