Loved this place because of the college student we got to talk during our first visit. We told him it was our first time and he gave great recommendations and conversation. The place was well lit and spacious. The coffee was also really good, will definitely come back!!!

Love, love, love Chai Chenak cafe. I have been coming here for a while now and I was wondering why I never left a review. It is because the moment I get my drink, I start chugging it down since it is just that good. This time was no different, but at least I got some pictures of their cute cafe. I absolutely love their decor--it feels like a cozy, elevated style where I feel comfortable coming in and hanging out with friends or getting some work done. The staff is super friendly and willing to help with any questions you might have. I love the choice to either order at the counter or through the iPads, just in case you don't want to hold up the line or if there is a big line ahead. They offer a ton of different options for drinks as well as food and pastries. This time around I got one of their seasonal drinks and it was so good! It had just the right amount of sweetness. I wish I would have taken a picture before drinking it all, but I will be back soon for more.

Very nice coffee shop near Rutgers, lots of space for doing work or hanging out. The Butterscotch iced latte was delicious, very creamy and flavorful. They have breakfast and lunch options and a lot of coffee and tea combinations to choose from. Service was quick as you can order at a kiosk or at the counter. I would come again.

The dishes are so nicely presented. The server explained the dishes to us and providing recommendations. We enjoyed almost all the dishes - some are just different due to taste preference. Gol Gupta / Pani Puti was delicious - put the sauce in the ball and you are supposed to eat it whole. Samosa Chat was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the Beef Behari Roll, as the meat texture was a bit mushy. The mango Lassi and the Chai Tea were both excellent as well.

Highly recommend Chai Chenak cafe! The Karak Chai was amazing. Staff was friendly and plenty of seating available. Great place to hang out or get some work done!

It is a colorful, vibrant Pakistani restaurant in New Brunswick. We were in this area for Vipul Goyal's show and after the show, we were looking for a good restaurant and found this. Good find, but I could not get a table for 40 minutes finally got one, just before closing time. so it was a hush-hush situation. I was always fascinated by their kadhai dish (Courtesy- YouTube food channels), where they cook chicken or mutton from scratch with lots of tomatoes. We ordered- * Chicken Sindi Biryani: not sure why I ordered it, might have wanted to try Pakistan's biryani - disappointed. it was just a mix of some gravy with chicken pieces, nothing good about it. * Chicken Karahi Shenwari: this was the one with, a tangy taste (they use lots of tomatoes), well cooked. I just loved it, at the end I ate directly from Karahi :) - 5/5 * Naan, and * Chai The food was good, can come again. Service was on the slower side. Though the decor and ambiance are super cool, and beautiful décor... A couple of things hit me hard. serving water in small plastic glasses, and adding 18% gratitude to the party of 3 (like seriously).

Good Pakistani food with lots of flavor. Service was good and the overall experience was solid. The place is also beautifully decorated. Definitely worth checking out.

Some of the fabulous reviews of Chai Chenak brought us in, but the experience we had will not have me coming back again. This review could easily be 2 stars, but the food was fine so 3 stars it is. We had a reservation on a Friday prior to a show at the State Theater. We were seated immediately. Although the food was good, between no water on the rabbles, to the lack of service, and the automatic 18% gratuity, there was lots of room for improvement. I've never heard of automatic gratuity for a party of 4! With the lack of attentiveness we received from the wait staff, the automatic gratuity left a bad taste in our mouth. We didn't receive water to drink until after we were practically done with our meal. They only offer bottled water. We ordered Gajar Halwa for dessert, but it literally took 10 minutes for them to bring out a pre-made dessert, and it was not very authentic. The food does not come with rice either. I've never frequented an Indian/Pakistani restaurant where rice was not included. Our bill for 3 entrees, 3 bottles of water, and 1 desert was about $130. Not worth it for the food or service we received.

However, over our last three visits, we've noticed several concerns: The taste of the food has changed, and some dishes were not properly cooked. The karahi gosht is no longer prepared the way it used to be, and the portion size has also been reduced. The seating arrangement feels too cramped for the space, making it difficult to move around comfortably. When concerns are raised, the standard response is simply, "we will let them know," without any visible follow-up. We genuinely enjoy dining here and would like to continue visiting. However, the inconsistency in food quality, along with pricing and portion concerns, has been disappointing and is making us reconsider. I would greatly appreciate it if the owner could give attention to these issues, particularly ensuring consistency in food quality and taste.

We came for halwa puri, the classic breakfast of Pakistan and one of the few bright spots for vegetarians in a nation that takes pride in distancing itself from anything veg. The achaari aloo sabzi was absolutely excellent, and the puris were not overly oily. The chole didn't leave that much of an impression on me. We also ordered the mash dal, which was superb. This is probably the most coarse south Asian dal dish, with an appearance similar to bulgur if prepared correctly. It was a treat to try this dish common as a roadside nashta in Pakistan, but rarely prepared in the states. The anda parantha was a disappointment - I was expecting a typical desi omelette, but the paratha was served with two very plain eggs over medium. This should probably be more clearly disclosed in the menu.

    | Deeply Disappointed -- What Happened to Baithakh?…read more Baithakh used to be one of our favorite go-to spots in North Brunswick. We've always enjoyed the food, but unfortunately, something has definitely changed since our last visit -- and not for the better. We ordered several dishes, including the Baithakh Seekh Kebab Roll, Crispy Fried Chicken Burger, Beef Paya, Beef Nihari, Peshawari Mutton Karahi, and Chicken Malai Boti. To our surprise, nearly everything was a letdown. The Beef Paya and Peshawari Mutton Karahi were both swimming in oil and severely lacked flavor, which was shocking considering how good they used to be. The Fried Chicken Burger had decent seasoning, but the chicken itself was tough and rubbery -- almost inedible. The Chicken Malai Boti was okay, but even that wasn't as tender or flavorful as we've had here before. Maybe they've changed chefs or recipes, but the quality just isn't the same anymore. Baithakh had never failed us before, but this visit was a major disappointment. Sadly, we're giving it a 2 out of 5 stars. We hope they find their way back to the standard that once made them great.

We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

It's unfortunate that I have to post this as I feel despite us voicing our concern (multiple times) in person with the staff and also on the phone when ordering take out, the staff is not trained and do not take certain dietary restrictions seriously such as food allergies. After having a child who suffers from peanut and egg allergies, whenever we have dined or ordered from here as of lately, we have politely asked for certain food not to be served together and prepared properly. After expressing this, the staffs answer is rude and with an attitude and us being told "ok i'll just put it in a separate plate" after it being cross contaminated and served. Then during a take out order when we called to alert that there is an allergy, to please ensure the food is properly handled and packed separately from egg-containing items, we were told (specifically by Jaspreet) it is already prepared and packed, so the best that can be done is taken out and packed separately instead of adhering to the urgency of the matter and re-preparing the food. Our child broke out in hives due to their negligence in the past and I fear that their inefficiency to understand the seriousness of this matter will one day result in legal action being taken against this establishment if God forbid someone else has a reaction or worse a Fatality. My post isn't intended towards the quality of the food, it is more so to be heard and create awareness on this matter as it seems this establishment can care less towards your health needs. Update: We were contacted by ownership (Ishrath) and accused of being in the wrong and were met with disrespect and advised not to come to this establishment anymore as they cannot meet our "crazy demands." We should have been heard out, which was explained to co-ownership (Sobia) a few minutes after my review was posted, that this wasn't a personal jab towards the establishment however has happened to us on multiple accounts, specifically from staff member Jaspreet the past two times in a matter of two weeks. There was no apology on the matter, just defensiveness in a "sweet tone." This is more so a validation that despite us voicing our concerns multiple times in person, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is unfortunate that we have had to go to such extremes as posting this to be heard. Since my post, we see the attempt to have our post buried, and quite frankly hope it made a difference, albeit they have lost our business however we know the restaurant will still thrive. Still wishing them the best of luck and hopefully prevents any future consequence on this matter.

I've had this exact item here before, and it was fantastic, so I know the kitchen is capable of much better. The Beef Bihari Roll, on the other hand, was delicious. My only suggestion would be to improve the presentation a bit. Adding some fries or a side would make the plate feel more complete and visually appealing.
