We stayed here while doing a College Road Trip with our son (stops at SUU and Dixie St.) Easy to find. Just a 1/4 mile off the freeway. Did have to make a U-turn to get back to it as there is no left turn due to the median. That's not a complaint in any way, just a FYI. The hotel is very close to the university and there are lots of good eats that are really close by. The parking lot seemed a little small. There wasn't very many people there we were there, on a Thursday, in July, so for us, there was no issue. Come peak season, it may be. Check in was super easy and the lady who checked us in was very informative and helpful. She was very friendly and a pleasure to speak with. The room was VERY nice! We were pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, good sized, and seemed the bathroom was recently redone. It was excellent! Bedding was very comfortable and slept well. Air conditioning worked with no issues. There is a little garden area with a small fountain and a couple of seats just off to the right of the office. It's a nice little spot to be able to enjoy a morning cup of coffee. We really enjoyed our stay, had zero issues, and would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

We stay at the Chalet whenever we go to or pass through St. George. The rooms are spacious and we usually have a room with a kitchenette that is very nice and the rooms are very clean and smell nice. We are able to check in late into the night no problem. The parking lot is safe like the whole city is safe. Nice staff, very friendly. read more

Wow. This place takes your ass, my ass, and everyone's ass all over town and just kicks it. Hard. And I mean that in the best way possible. There's more than one good hotel on this row, so I can't dismiss the others, but certainly I can canonize this one. It's clearly a family run affair. We came in on New Year's Eve and the grandkids were all running around behind the counter. Grandma was running the show, professional and nice. Grandpa (presumably?) was also nice and excited to have a chat. An elongated, friendly chat. A very, very long chat!!! Haha. we were tired and wanted to just crash out for a while. But you gotta love the family business, when it's full of good vibe like this. Excellent. The room itself was an unusual L shape, with the bed tucked into the top of the L and the kitchen area in the lower. The room is *very* clean, well appointed and modern with a nice but not overly fancy feel to it. A touch of luxury, and not tacky like so many hotels. The kitchen was a prime selling point for us since we like to cook, and it was fantastic. 2-burner stove, microwave, full size fridge & sink... just awesome. We were a bit disappointed that no utensils, plates, etc. were provided but I don't deduct any points for it... in fact, we made do and I snapped a big beef jerky stick in half to scramble the eggs. I am the MacGyver of breakfast!! It looks like full cable TV but we don't watch TV so much. And WiFi is provided complimentary to all guests. Total cost? ~$45/night. Come on!!!!!!! This is a fantastic deal. When in town, don't hesistate to stay here. We will be back, for sure. read more

This review is long overdue. My wife and I have stayed at Chalet Motel several times when traveling back and forth between Utah and California. We have always had a pleasant stay at this motel. The staff here cannot get enough credit. On one occasion, in a rush to get back on the road again, my wife accidentally LEFT HER WEDDING RING IN THE ROOM! We did not realize this until we got a call from the manager saying that one of the housekeepers had turned in the ring. We were already two hours away but they offered to ship it to us at no cost. I cannot express enough how appreciative I am for the honest and caring staff; the ring was not only valuable but a family heirloom and irreplaceable. We sent a little thank you gift to the housekeeper but I would feel bad not telling this story here. Thank you again Chalet Motel Staff! read more

Great hotel for $49 including tax! Full fridge, comfy bed and nice shower. The towels could use a replacement, but they worked. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the place reminded me of an old school motel. Lots around for supplies--rite aid, liquor store, you know, the necessities. I looooove this place! The room was amazing! Beautiful, roomy & very clean! Customer service was excellent!

I didn't think our stay here was bad. At check-in, the gal was friendly, from our area of So Cal, and made suggestions for dinner. There were, however, some unsavory types hanging out in the parking lot. We had an upstairs room with 3 queen beds. The room was clean and you could tell that some of the fixtures were updated. The towels need to be next.....I don't think any of them were matching styles or the same color. Also, the toilet seat was obviously well used and worn....A little off-putting while being a super cheap fix. The worst thing was that blinds were somewhat broken and didn't quite close all the way so people could see into our room. Luckily while we were there, almost no one else was so there weren't a lot of people walking by. I am not trying to dog this place. It was quiet, they had free, secured Wi-Fi, and we slept well. A few more updates and this place would be a perfect little motel! read more

This is a really nice motel! The guy at the check in desk was very friendly and helpful. He gave us a whole bunch of restaurant and grocery store recommendations, and he brought us to our room and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was clean in general. There were no stains on the carpets and tiles, but there were a few blotches on one of the walls. The bed was comfortable and the sofa also made a great bed. The a/c was worked very well and wasn't too loud. There is a small kitchen in the room with a seating area that is a nice addition. The large fridge in the kitchen was great for us since we were able to chill our water, and have a place to put ice cream. Tip for people that plan on cooking: Bring a pot or pan if you want to use the stove, and a microwaveable mug or plate for the microwave since they don't provide any of those for you. This is a nice motel to stay at in St. George. The staff is friendly and there are many restaurants and 24 hour grocery stores nearby. I would definitely come back and stay here again! read more

Addendum to my 6/5/16 review. We had a great stay there while moving. BUT while I was in the Supai Village in Arizona, I was charged 80 bucks by this motel. A full 3 YEARS after my only stay. My credit card number was manually entered by this hotel according to my bank. I no longer reccomend this motel and warm others to check your bank statements after booking with them! read more

This motel is fairly plain, but the price was right and the room was very clean and included a mini-kitchen. The people running the place -- I'd guess it's family-run -- were charming. All in all, a perfect mid-level motel. read more

What a pleasant surprise. Motel was updated on the outside and within the room. Granite counters, new fixtures and lighting. Towels were new and soft. Bedding was current. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Room was clean. Quality is just as good or better than Marriott's in the area for way less money. I will definitely be back. read more

I booked a night at the Chalet motel until I made a phone call and email. I emailed them asking how they deal with bed bugs and preventing them, but got no response (to be fair I emailed them one day before calling) so I called them yesterday and left a message. I got a call back within a half hour and the person on the other line (never told me who they were or what position they were in) gave it to me for asking. He said he received my email and call and told me they deal with bed bugs just like how I'd deal with them in my house, other hotels do, and how theaters do. He then proceeded to ask me if I knew that theaters have a lot of bed bugs and asked if I had called them (in a condescending tone). I was surprised but remembered hearing about that in the past. He then proceeded to tell me that they do what other hotels do to prevent them (traps and if there are any, pest control), gave me a lecture on how bed bugs live and travel, and kept insinuating that I should've done research before calling. He kept telling me there were plenty of other facilities in the St. George area I could stay at, and then told me that I had not even opened the door into a room and I'm already worried about bed bugs. He then asked if I ask every hotel I stay at if they check for bed bugs and if I had called other hotels in St. George about this. It was a simple question! All he had to do was tell me they set traps and if there are any they call pest control, but instead he acted condescending and arrogant and told me that I should have researched all of this. I would have been fine if he told me about bed bugs and how hotels deal with them, but I didn't appreciate the condescending tone the guy gave me. I told him I wasn't trying to attack his motel to try to bring his defenses down (he acted defensive about the whole thing), and he told me he knew that but went on with his lecture to me asking if I had even done any research. At the end of the call he told me he "wasn't trying to school me," but then proceeded to tell me I should have researched this once again. Not going to lie, I'm furious at how I was treated and I cancelled my reservation. I don't care if you think a customer or potential customer is asking a dumb question, you don't treat anyone like that. I wasn't trying to say his motel was bad or dirty, I just wanted to know how they did bed bug prevention. read more

I spent one night here. It was absolutely clean, comfortable, and just plain great. The owner was helpful and a lot of fun to meet. Enjoyed a pleasant conversation with him. This was a marked contrast to another competing motel just down the street. That one was absolutely horrible -- a cesspool masquerading as a motel. Any time I return to St. George for any reason, you can be certain that I will call the Chalet Motel and hope they have room for me to lay my little head down for a comfortable and clean night's sleep. read more

This place was amazing. Okay, so when you think Motel you think dingy. While this place isn't luxurious looking, the price point is great, the rooms are super spacious, spotless, and very well maintained. The couple that take care of this place are wonderful people and do a great job. The bathrooms are huge and have recently been renovated to include beautiful fixtures, granite counter tops and brand new everything. All rooms come with microwaves, mini fridges, flat screen TV's and one of my personal favorites, a dishwasher safe remote! I really appreciate a place that takes care of cleanliness down to those types of nitty gritty details. They are very impressive and I will most definitely be back. I highly recommend them for a stop over or even for a multiple day stay in St. George. read more

I might rave more about this place like others have if we had paid the prices some of the other reviewers are mentioning. I'm a sucker though, and didn't get the best deal apparently. The guy at the desk was rude and passive aggressive towards me from the moment we checked in because the price he gave me was a few dollars more than what was on my printed itinerary. He seemed upset that I wanted him to explain the $3 difference. I get that it's only $3, but it's my $3 and I doubt in the opposite situation a business would be like, "Whoops, we undercharged you some money, let's just let you not pay the correct price and we will eat the difference." He couldn't even explain why the price was different, and just said he didn't know (and clearly didn't care to even try to look at the numbers) and expected me to just be okay with that. Besides that whole situation which made me a little uneasy when we got there, our smoke detector went off and wouldn't stop. It had to be unplugged, and I was told this is a problem in a few rooms they are "about to fix." The bed was very uncomfortable, too. My husband slept on the leather couch our second night there and said it was at least 5% more comfortable. The place has been recently remodeled which was nice, but the sink was a pain in the butt because of this. I'll attach a pic so you can see. Couldn't rinse your hands or toothbrush without touching the side of the sink. Gross. And the wifi was straight up a mess. The rude guy at the desk told me they don't have enough bandwidth to support everyone on the wifi...then don't charge me a price that I'm sure figures in your offering of "wifi". Again, if I had paid maybe $20 less a night than we did, I might give a few of these things a pass. But for the price, this hotel was not up to parr. And that guy at the desk just made it worse. Room was very clean, so clean that I felt comfortable taking a bath, (normally you have to spend at least $100.00 a night for that alone), a large refrigerator, stove for cooking. Unprofessional and extremely rude staff! Also had to track down the emergency phone number on the side door of the office just to request extra towels and an extra blanket. Someone in our party had been camping in the desert for an extended period of time under harsh physical and emotional conditions. On their first night back in civilization with the family the staff made them feel horrible, just for being covered in desert dirt after camping for so long. We were actually SCOLDED for getting LIGHT-colored streaks of dirt on a bleachable white washcloth and towel! A male staff member (very possibly the owner/manager) expressed irritation at the dirt then told us, "I hope this doesn't happen again. It looks like you used this on your car!" A female staff member (possibly co-owner/manager) gave us the extra towels we had requested but the washcloths were bleach-stained rags, the dye from which bled out when they were used. We did not stay for the second night of our reservation. An evening that should have been a pleasant and relaxing reunion after a long and stressful separation was upsettingly and undeservedly interrupted by staff who seem to have forgotten that hospitality is the heart of the industry! read more
