Simple car buying experience, but as a former salesman, the follow through and ownership experience is what really earns my return business. Have had the car for two weeks and felt unstableness on the highway, sure enough needed a new set of tires cause 1 of the 4 tires had been ran on flat and was poorly and very noticeably plugged with LOTS of interior tire damage. If tread is low enough and 1 needs replacing gotta do all 4. In addition, the vehicle had been on the lot over a month and the vehicle was not detailed with care. After making comments during test drive, there were some corrections made. However, when I came out of finance the vehicle still needed attention! I understand 'used cars' are 'as is' but at least take the time and effort to properly prepare a vehicle for resale. Be proud of the products you're selling/re-selling!! My advice to myself and any others is pay a little money before taking your Chalmers vehicle home. Get a 3rd party inspection. read more

I had two issues with my 2007 Ford Mustang (driver's seat and gas tank). Service Adviser Dan Price evaluated both problems. Parts were ordered and I was contacted when the parts had arrived. Both issues were taken care of timely and efficiently. One of the problems was with my gas tank which made it so I could get gas at only a few select service stations. I had taken my car to an independent auto shop and spent $1,000 and the problem was not fixed. I ordered a Ford Maverick back in June, 2021. Ford underestimated demand, and that with supply chain issues made for a very long wait. Charmers Ford was very responsive to my follow up queries, and when the car came in, they honored the purchase price. I have heard nightmare stories from others who ordered a Maverick about dealerships trying to mark up their orders or sell it out from underneath them at a higher price. My experience is limited to the service department. I had been getting recall notice after recall notice in the mail for some time. It turns out my truck was affected by the Takata airbag recall. I tried, unsuccessfully, to get these replaced by my trucks original dealer Rich Ford. To make a long story short, they completely messed up and I ended out leaving. I was initially a bit disappointed with Don Chalmers as well. I had scheduled my air bag replacement with them after having the bad experience with Rich Ford. The day before I was to go in, I got a call telling me that my appointment was cancelled because they did not receive the airbags. I was then told to call back to check availability and reschedule, which I thought sounded like it should be their job to do. I ended out just forgetting about the whole thing, but was reminded again once recall notices started coming again in the mail. Don Chalmers had the highest reviews about of all the local Ford dealers, so I decided to give them another shot. This time around, they were excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. I got a call within 4 hours after dropping my vehicle off saying the repair was done. I was very happy with them this time around, and I would probably choose them for any future need that I cannot fix myself. Keep up the good work! read more

I was in dire need of an oil change on my way out of town. I stopped in to the Quicklane on Coors and I-40 just before they opened. I waited on the bench outside because I was trying not to be that person breaking the door down. it was about 5 minutes before they opened and an employe, Brendon, came to the door and invited me inside. He asked if I had an appointment. (I'm completely unprepared, so of course not). He explained that it may be a wait, which I expected, but the entire time he was extremely accommodating. Horrible customer service! Looking for a new car to buy in cash; but had an issue immediately with buying a replacement plastic car wheel liner for an explorer. I called at 5:45 pm. I spoke with parts who refused to help me transfering me to service who was closed. I spoke with sales who said "wow" when I questioned why she couldn't help me. I arrived at 8:05, was met by an attendant that told me where to find JC. I met him and he told me where to wait, I did what he instructed me to do and was told it was completed before 9:00. The experience I had at the quicklane recently is rated 4/5 stars. I feel like my vehicle was serviced very well and given the attention that it needs. My visit became more costly than expected but I did arrive anticipating that it would be. $2400 is a real stinger to the wallet/ouch. It took approximately 4.5 hrs to complete. I've been without a car for the past 4 or 5 years. The last car I bought I bought from Don Chalmers. I was pleased with my purchase and the service the staff gave me. So, it's finally time to buy a car again. I knew I couldn't afford a new car so naturally, the first place I looked was on the Don Chalmers website. The first car I looked at was a 2016 Ford Focus SE -- in my favorite color. The whole process took about 3 hours from Test drive, recommendations from an expert (my son) and getting handed the keys to my new (used) car. The sales professional was amazing, and most amazing of all was that the finance guy was the same one that helped me 8 or 9 years ago. Start to finish it was a very positive experience. I took my truck in for a routine oil change. Everything was done well and completed as advertised. Customer service was great. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star this time was because my appt was at 730 am. It was promptly processed and I went to sit in the waiting room. My past experience has been the routine oil service is completed in an hour to an hour and a half. This time for whatever reason it took 2.5 hours to complete. No issues were found with my vehicle prompting a longer stay. So 2.5 hours for a regular service is a bit too long in my opinion. Service was great but the time it took was not great. read more

I've never had one bad experience, every time I take my vehicle in it's cared for like a family member, the staff are super nice even when they're having a bad day, I've had more sales associates just have a general conversation about car than any other dealership I've ever been to in my whole life. Beware don't do business with Don Chalmers Ford in Rio Rancho. I made that one mistake and now I have lost all hope with our vehicle, I'm so frustrated and don't know what else I can do anymore. I had bought a brand new 2016 ford explorer not the base model either, we are the first owners of the SUV so of course we didn't think we would have as many problems as we have experienced with only the 3 years of owning the suv. Since day one we have had one issue after another, we would take it in to the service department when ever thier was an issue and being advised that the problem had been "fixed or they could not figure out what the issue was. To only name a few issues that we have had since we owned that SUV are : The throttle body had gone out on the SUV even though it had less than 10,000 miles on it. not even having it for 5 months left me, and my newborn stranded on the side of the road. I have had to replace the tires 3 or more times in the time of having the SUV due to the rubber shredding and the tires were not wearing evenly. I had taken the explorer to many different tire shops to see if it was normal wear and tear and each and every one of shops said it was not normal. I had to pay for the tires out of my own pocket because that wasnt covered Don Chalmers said it was a wear and tear issue so they wouldn't cover it. The battery that came with the SUV was no good it would not hold a charge. Anytime me or my husband would try to start the vehicle with the push to start button it would get stuck. Anytime we would turn the steering wheel to the right all you can hear is a popping and grinding sound. Anyone that has heard the issue advises it's the axel or ball joint. We even have it on video with the sound showed it the the service department and they blew it off thing it wasnt a big deal and said they have another car like that .so that issue still hasn't been resolved. The trunk would open and close all by its self, on one occasion it fall on my husband. Another issue with the trunk is that it would be closing then all of a sudden would stop half way. Then thier was an occasion when I was driving to Santa Fe the right side of the molding from the windshield just fly right off while driving the highway. I had taken it to another ford dealership, and they had asked me if the windshield was ever replaced, I had told them no. Then at that point we where told the window was not the original manufacturing that came with the suv. I was shocked that don chalmers never told to us at any event, so I had gone to Chalmers and asked why we where not advised at time of Purchasing that it was replaced they told me they didn't have to disclose that since it was not body damage.  We have been in and out of that dealership more then we would like to. All I ever wanted was my vehicle to be running like it should. Yea I get vehicles do have there problems here and there but for them to not be fixed or just left undone is not ok., we were in the service department at one point every 3 weeks because their would be an issue that would come up once again. We never asked for much just to have our vehicle in working order for my family. We had taken it to other ford dealers just to get any answers and we where at a loss just giving up at this point we just did our route maintenance to keep it going . And just the other day in February my husband called the oil changing department that was Separate from the actually service department and sales floor they advised to my husband they were not allowed to work on our SUV we had no idea what they where talking about. So I went down there and they advised to me that there is a note on file stating they are not able to do any work or touch the SUV. So I go to the main building to find out what was happening I spoke with a lady in the back office she was supposed to call me back the next day never heard anything. On 02/28/2019 which made it 2 weeks since I had went by and never heard so I decided to go down to don chambers to find out whatever happened I waited an hour to speak with the same lady that was supposed to call me back and never did. Finally pulled me back and said Andy Strebe the general manager would speak with me and this is where it gets good . I told him how unhappy I have been with the service I have gotten over the 3 years we have had the SUV and his reply was the feeling is Mutual and that I was no longer welcome at the Don's chamlers ford because I was to difficult. Because I wanted my car to work ..... I have never been treated like that in my life the general manager (Andy Strebe)and service manager (Chad McHargue)are so unprofessional and very rude I will never send anyone ever to that dealership . read more

I went with a friend to Chalmer Ford in Rio Rancho looking for a specific truck for him being the 2012 Ford F-250 which he was told was available. However, nobody made a call him to him that there was a pending payment already made on the truck. We drove all the way from Socorro which is 75 miles away just to be told at the dealership that the vehicle was no longer available. That was a lot of time that they had us waste just to be told in-person when they should have made a call. read more

Always a great experience here. You also don't get hounded when you walk in the door. While they do ask you to sign in, that's a simple task. When you do need assistance or you have someone who has been recommended (JWF) you get to meet with them, tell them what you need and what you can afford. Our process was a simple one and my spouse did the pre work and all I had to do is pick out a color. They prep the vehicle fairly quickly, manage the paperwork and we were out of there in less than 3 hours. I think that's great! The place is clean and the staff is friendly. read more
