    Southern Style Fried Green Tomatoes
    Asha E.

Nice portion of fried green tomatoes, came with 8 pieces and they are HUGE! They were cooked well. I would have loved if they had a little more seasoning and a bit more kick to them... or any kick at all. Otherwise they are still a pretty solid choice. Service was ok. The ambiance is... Nashville. I don't have too many complaints, not bad, not amazing, I got what I came for so that'll do.

Champy's was actually my favorite meal the entire trip. We went Sunday around noon and had a wonderfully brunch. We ordered the French toast and crawfish étouffée. The French toast was nice and crispy but so soft in the middle. The crawfish étouffée was a show stopper. So flavorful and packed full of crawfish. Service was quick and friendly. Prices weren't bad. There was so much room inside and I loved the decor and vibe. Overall, I would come back in a heartbeat next time we are in town.

After a bunch of visits I can tell you that this excellent fried chicken is not a coincidence, it is a safe bet - every time! My favorite is the meat plate (breast and wing) or the Chicken Finger Basket, and that comes with the fries too and the fries.... Yay! They are delicious, crispy and dipping them in the Champys sauce is just one more way to make your day! If you have room for another side or a starter I will recommend the Fried Jalapeno Basket, it comes with its own sauce that is perfect to contradict the mild-spicy jalapeños. The staff is always attentive and nice ( Kayla in the bar is fantastic). If you have a larger group they also have two separate rooms you can rent.

We debated between the seafood gumbo & shrimp étouffée so we shared both together. The Shrimp Etouffee is hands down the better choice!!! It is SO flavorful! We sat at the bar & our bartender was very nice too, providing great service.

Food was good. Good portion. Fries had an extra crispy batter that was good. Chicken sandwich was thick and moist. Champy sauce (honey mustard and BBQ type sauce) was a great compliment. Coleslaw was a sweet style and also good with sandwich. I would visit again.

Fried chicken sandwich with fries (takeout)

Stopped here for takeout on a Sunday evening. We liked the chicken sandwich so much we returned the next day for lunch. The fried chicken here is good. I recommend getting the fried chicken sandwich. A large chunk of chicken, seasoned well and cooked perfectly lies in a toasted bun. It's accompanied by crisp, salty battered fries, sauce, pickles, and coleslaw. Service was also great each visit. When we dined in, Mimi, was our server. She was sweet, helpful, and checked in on us often. Definitely check out Champy's Chicken if you are in Nashville!

Service: 4.0. Good service. No complaints. Food: 3.0. I got the 2 piece fried chicken with fries and baked beans. The fried chicken was cooked well and the batter was delicious. The fries had that extra coating which is something I don't care for. The baked beans were ok. The beer lines were frozen so I opted for water. Ambiance: 4.0. The place was empty but the decor was nice. Music was sad bluesy songs and a few old gospel songs. Made me relaxed but kinda sleepy.

Nashville original chicken sandwich was so good we went two days in a row! The sandwich had a great slow heat a good amount of French fries. Staff was super friendly and patient while we read the menu. Plenty of drink choices. Lots of TV's so many tables.

This is a basic place. Basically good. The food is typical food you will find at many places, but it has a that southern aspect of it. To be more specific, the Mississippi and Louisiana area of the south. Customer service was great, and it came with honesty when asking about certain items. I do like that they did not say the typical, "Oh everything is great" especially when I see gumbo, etouffee, and jambalaya on the menu. For many of us when we see that on the menu you are like me and think, "What do they know about gumbo?" The gumbo was not bad, and it is different but still enjoyable. I am more of a seafood gumbo, but I can get down with the sausage (stop giggling), chicken, and shrimp. I did enjoy it and you might want to order an extra side of rice with it to go along with the two scoops that already come with it. The only thing missing was a piece of French bread. I also tried the tamales which were also pretty good. It has been a minute since I had tamales also. The star of the apps were fried green tomatoes. At many places you order FGT and if you are lucky, you get four at a ridiculous price. The FGT appetizer here was a whole tomato and you could tell it was fresh. Someone in the back doing some dipping and frying when you place this order. Pretty good-sized order and the remoulade sauce that came with it was not as tangy as I would like but still good. A solid four stars. This is a great place in case you got that person who has no idea what they want or did not make a suggestion of where they want to eat. The menu is limited so there is no constant searching around due to a large number of items but still offers variety. My only issue is that when you see a place serving up some cajon options you start getting a taste for some boudin but unfortunately they do not offer it.

Looking for a late night light near. i had the fried chicken w fries. I had it lightly battered and dipped in hone bbq sauce. It was very good. My wife had the Gumbo. It was good with okra but not Louisiana as claimed. Lot of big tv's w sports. Service was very good. Sabrina waited on us and gave my wife a taste of the gumbo before she ordered. Very nice. Got a can of white claw for 9 dollars. High for drinks. Desserts looked good

Tried this place for dinner during a recent trip. T the wings were very good, though I liked the buffalo better than the Nashville hot. The gumbo and chicken strips were also good, but the gumbo was served at close to room temperature, which took a good amount away from it. My daughter also liked the chicken strips and fries.

Stumbled upon this place while in town for TSU homecoming and it was amazing. The service was attentive, the food was perfectly seasoned, and everything came out hot. The atmosphere puts you in mind of a dive sports bar with a hometown field. It was very clean and will definitely be a regular here when I visit Nashville.

Stoke Haus Brewing & BBQ is hands down the best BBQ experience of my life!…read more A few helpful tips before you go: parking is a little limited right in front and the entrance is easy to miss. There is additional parking around the side in an open lot that felt safe, was free (at least currently), and was super convenient. Once you arrive, walk around the left side of the building and order inside at the bar. They'll give you a pager, and when your food is ready, you'll head outside to the food truck for pickup. When we first walked in, I have to admit I thought, "What is that smell?" Then I realized it was the giant brewing vats and the smell of the beer-making process. Once I connected the dots, I actually started appreciating it and felt it added to the experience and the authenticity of the brewery. We tried their signature beer, a quality dark ale that paired perfectly with our meal. It had a great depth of flavor and was the perfect complement to the BBQ. For food, we ordered and split: Half order of ribs: incredibly tender with a crispy, flavorful top. They were packed with flavor and came with two dipping sauces. I preferred the BBQ sauce over the Carolina-style sauce, but both were enjoyable. Brussels sprouts: OH MY GOODNESS. I genuinely did not know vegetables could taste this good. Even my veggie-hating partner loved them, which honestly says everything. These were a standout. Mac & cheese: visually, this was beautiful and looked like it was going to be a favorite. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the way I expected and wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. THE BRISKET BURGER = THE STAR OF THE SHOW! I have never had a brisket burger before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was phenomenal. The Gouda cheese was incredible, and the combination of the mayo, pickles, and sauce created the perfect balance of flavors. It was everything you want in a burger and more. This is the dish I will be telling everyone about. Beyond the food, the atmosphere was fantastic. They have board games in the back, and it looks like they host karaoke nights, which gives the space a really fun, community-oriented feel. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, welcoming, and helpful. Honestly, there was nothing to complain about. Great food, great beer, great people, and a unique experience. Stoke Haus is a must-visit and if you go, do yourself a favor and order the brisket burger. You won't regret it.

You know the places I'm talking about. No, I wanted somewhere authentic. In a neighborhood, not near the mall. A place most people would drive past. Stoke Haus is all this and more. Much more. 2pm on Sunday and the parking lot was full. (I'm sure a good handful was for the liquor store next door). The first issue - how do you get in?? There is no front door. There is a tall wooden fence on the side of the building. I peek through the gap between the fence and the wall. A long smoker, a pile of wood, a small food truck (what???). I see a couple leaving the building by a side door. This must be it. There is a sign taped to the door: order at the bar and pick up at the truck. Following instructions, we approach the bar. The couple next to me just got their food. OMG. That looks so good. I ask what they have...brisket, a pulled pork sandwich, German potato salad, cole slaw, fried okra and a little pile of pickles and marinated onions. I don't even look at the menu. "I want that" I tell the bartender. We each order a beer (I forgot to mention that this is a brewery too). We received our beer and a buzzer, found a table and proceeded to play on our phones until the buzzer went off. My husband went outside to the food truck and came in with a metal tray nearly overflowing with food. We didn't waste a second digging in. The brisket was incredibly tender with a most amazing bark. A little too fatty, even for brisket, but still a "must order". The sandwich was absolutely stuffed with tender, juicy pulled pork. Perfection. The sides, especially the potato salad were excellent (though the okra wasn't made from scratch, it was still worthy). The pickles? That final little "oomph". Our meal wasn't just a home run, it was a grand slam! I've written a lot of reviews. I've written a lot of 5 star reviews. I'd love to be able to give Stoke Haus 10 stars. This is definitely a don't miss!!

Think of it like two legendary bands collaborating on a "Greatest Hits Mixtape." I can't wait to see what comes next from this powerhouse combo! Today I went with a couple of flights and here's how it shook out: Engywook - Wild stuff. The cinnamon and nutmeg absolutely jump out at you. A small taster was perfect for me it's definitely a conversation starter. PG&J Mixtape: Grape - This is my jam (literally). So good. Sweet, nostalgic, perfectly balanced. In my opinion, one of the best in the country. Freezes & Hoverboards - Solid beer, well made, just not my personal favorite of the lineup. Peach Black Currant Strawberry Hill - Very good. Big, layered fruit flavor with great depth. Strawberry Delight Hill - Sooooo good! This is a must-have. Bright, flavorful, and dangerously easy to drink. Peanut Butter Copra - A stout with peanuts and a hint of toasted coconut. Let this one warm up a bit and the flavors really open up. Rich and smooth. Batch One Theory: 10th Anniversary Stout - Very good anniversary brew. I caught a subtle barleywine note blending into the stout character -- complex and interesting. Overall, this is a great place to sample some seriously creative beers. Plenty of space to sit inside or out, relax, and work your way through a flight.
