This was my first time trying this restaurant and my first time trying Jiro ramen. I got the regular bowl and my brother got the regular bowl with extra bean sprouts. As your can see from the photo, the extra bean sprouts is a HUGE portion! We liked that the bean sprouts were seasoned, making the bowl really flavorful. This was a huge portion of food, leaving us really full. The only thing we didn't like was the chashu in this ramen, which was a cube and not slices. I got one really soft cube and one really tough and dry cube. Overall good food with good service and a very nice and clean interior with plenty of space.

Food came out quick. Ramen was delicious. I had the spicy chicken paitan with seasoned egg and chicken chashu. Chicken was so soft and tender. Not even dry. I ate every last bit of it including the soup. Which is rare. I rarely drink all the soup. Restaurant was spacious and clean. Plenty of space. We did not wait and got seated right away. This was on the weekend. If you like chicken ramen, then this place is the place to go

Was very shocked to see this has replaced Le Shrimp Noodle Bar, but nonetheless, I'm excited for a good bowl of ramen~ Chicken Paitan is the specialty here so of course got the Spicy Chicken Paitan ramen. The broth was very well-balanced and light (compared to a pork/tonkotsu broth). The chicken slices were a bit too thick for my personal preference. The noodles were thick and unfortunately, were too cook. I prefer my noodles to be on the firmer side for ramen. The ramen bowl also included toppings such as wood ear mushrooms, green onions, one flavored egg, 3 pieces of nori and a small scoop of spicy oil. The broth was on the warm side than it is hot, so not sure what happened there. Personally, this bowl could have been a lot more enjoyable if the broth was hot and noodles being a little more firm. Also ordered Fried Wantan and Gyoza. The waitress didn't seem to know what was in the filling of the wantan and gyoza which was a bit disappointing lol. To be honest, I don't remember what was in them because they were quite mid. I'd personally would skip these two lol. Huge store with plenty of seating, but it was quite empty when I stopped by. Everyone was quite nice though.

We decided to come five this place a try since it just opened up! I know the old place was the La Shrimp so we were interested in seeing what this place had to offer. Parking is super easy here since the Amazon Fresh is gone sadly Wait was around 30 minutes but that was only because they had the soft opening half off ramen special Service is pretty fast and they're all friendly. We were pretty full from sushi earlier so we just got a ramen to share. Black Garlic Chicken Paitan took a little bit longer than expected but I think the other chef was on his break so it was only one guy doing everything. Flavor wise I like it though since it's not as heavy as tonkatsu. Chicken was very tender. However, the entire bowl doesn't WOW me too much. I definitely want to come back to try the Chukosoba and Fried Chicken they had. As it came out to other tables it looked GOOD! Overall, I like the chill ambiance and fast casual. I'm sure they're working out the kinks as any new place does!

Nice to attend the grand opening day of this new location since the Yorba Linda location is closed. Located off the 405 freeway and just south, the new location is larger, has a beautiful hand sketched mural and has an open floorplan. There's plenty of complimentary parking since it's in a large strip center. We arrived before they opened which is 11:30 am.The chef and now manager Naoki Akimoto, trained under the legendary Kazuo Yamagishi at Japan's iconic Taishoken, bringing true Japanese craftsmanship to everything they serve. The chicken paitan broth is simmered for 24 hours and has a rich natural flavor and aromatic. The noodles are cooked perfectly, which I ordered an extra serving that came out piping hot. Ordered karaage chicken as our appetizer and it tasted exactly like their original location that I frequented in Yorba Linda, CA. I ordered the black paitan Chasau ramen and it was piping hot and flavorful. Service was friendly and attentive by the entire staff, and they were on point even though the line wrapped around the building and some customers waited over 90 minutes to get a table. Congrats to Ramen Akimoto's new location and come by to try their Japanese cuisine.

Opening weekend and already such a standout. It's always a joy to support a new business that clearly cares about what they're doing--and it shows in every bowl. Their specialty is Chicken Paitan ramen, a rich, creamy, milky-white chicken broth that's an alternative to the traditional pork-based tonkotsu. It was my first time trying it, and I was impressed. The broth is deeply savory, comforting, and full of flavor--honestly, it reminded me of an elevated Japanese chicken noodle soup. Perfect healing remedy for when you're under the weather. It's also the kind of bowl you crave on a cold day or whenever you just want something warm, soothing, and satisfying. I also love that this is a great option for anyone who can't have or prefers to avoid pork-based broths. Thoughtful and delicious. And collagen-rich to boot! Their basic ramen comes with your choice of tender, succulent chicken or pork chashu, plus wood ear mushrooms and green onions--all prepared with care and balance. Plentiful parking in this shopping center. Business Hours Monday - Friday 11:30am - 3:00pm 5:30pm - 11:00pm  Saturday 11:30am - 11:00pm  Sunday 11:30am - 9:00pm Closed on Tuesdays in April

Ramen Akimoto is located in in a fairly large shopping center. So parking isn't an issue. The ambiance was very laid back with some nice decor. The food was lacking seasoning and definitely fell short and over priced for what I got. The service had to be the most disappointing part of my visit. My server wasn't really attentive to my family I which was understandable he was the only server there. However, the server definitely lacked professionalism. When I got the bill the server started pressuring me to pay him more than 10%. Now I don't mind paying but for mediocre service and for 2 ramen bowls and an order gyoza for 70 bucks HELL NAW !

I had the "All-Toppings" Chinese-style ramen. Even though I ordered the regular size, the portion of noodles was very generous, and it came with plenty of toppings, so I think the price is reasonable. The broth had a strong seafood flavor--it reminded me of the ramen I used to eat in Japan and was delicious. However, toward the end, I found it a little too salty. Next time, I think I'll try the chicken white soup ramen or a Jiro-style ramen.

Best authentic Jiro style ramen you can get in OC/LA county. Jiro is a cult favorite and Akimoto does a great job executing this style of ramen here in the states. Service is more than what I'd expect at a busy ramen shop. Be warned, regular is 200g of noodle before cooked and large is double that.

Service was great and the food was yummy! The broth had such a good flavor and the chicken was juicy and tender. It was really good. I'll definitely be back. And, you could really feel how much the staff cared and was appreciative of the business which went a long way. Definitely recommend this place.

    Soft Opening today 4/24

Ramen Akimoto is on Brookhurst (and Talbert) next door to Urban Plates. Today 4/24 they are having a soft opening and offering the first 300 guests 50% OFF Signature Chicken Paitan. I stopped by when they first opened at 11:30 AM but the line was way too long to wait. It wrapped around Urban Plates. I'll come back to visit another time to review the ramen.

I've been a fan ever since I first visited their Yorba Linda location, so when I heard this new spot opened, I had to check it out. The restaurant is very clean, a bit more spacious, and the service was fast. I originally came hoping for their Jiro-style ramen, but it wasn't on the menu yet, so this time I ordered the chuka soba instead. It had a slightly tsukemen-style flavor with a rich, well-balanced broth, and it was absolutely delicious. The side dishes aren't pictured, but the karaage and other items were surprisingly good too. It looks like they've finally started serving the Jiro-style ramen now, so I'm definitely planning to come back again!

You get a regular-sized bowl of ramen, plus your choice of either a beef rice bowl or chashu rice bowl, and a side salad. For just an additional $6 on top of the ramen you were already going to order, you get the rice bowl and salad -- which honestly makes the whole meal feel complete. We always order the Butaton ramen, and it never steers us wrong. It's consistently satisfying and comforting. Between the two rice bowl options, I definitely prefer the chashu over the beef. The chashu just has more flavor and pairs better with the ramen in my opinion. If you're deciding between the two, I'd go chashu every time. I also love how the meal flows: - The side salad adds that fresh start to the meal. -The rice bowl gives you something hearty and savory. * And then you finish strong with the ramen. We came around 1 PM on a Wednesday and were actually the only customers there. Honestly? It felt like VIP service. Our server was super friendly, accommodating, and very attentive. One thing I personally use to gauge service: if my water glass hits about 30% full, I expect it to be refilled before it's empty. And even though we were the only ones there, he was consistently on top of it. That kind of attention to detail really stands out to me. We also ordered green tea to round out the meal, and everything just felt easy and enjoyable. Overall, I keep coming back for a reason. Great value, comforting food, and attentive service. If you're going for the lunch combo, definitely choose the chashu rice bowl over the beef.

The atmosphere within was calm and comforting, familiar in a way that soothed the soul. In a world filled with noisy feasting halls and chaotic marketplaces, this establishment stood as a peaceful sanctuary where one might rest and enjoy a most noble meal. The serving folk were nothing short of extraordinary. Attentive without hovering, quick of wit, and brimming with personality, they carried themselves with the sort of genuine hospitality that cannot be taught by any guild or academy. Every interaction felt sincere and full of heart. Now, let us speak of the pan-fried gyoza, for I fear words alone may fail to capture its greatness. [Missing noodles, expensive ramen, bad customer service, and no reason to come back.]…read more I visited this restaurant to place a to-go order and picked up my food during a late lunch around 1:40 p.m. I ordered two items, including a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. When I got back to work in Santa Ana and opened my bag around 2:30 p.m., my ramen had NO NOODLES. It was literally just broth and toppings. I called the restaurant expecting a simple apology and a reasonable solution. Instead, the manager would not even speak to me directly and chose to communicate through a waiter the entire time, which made the situation even more frustrating. We went back and forth multiple times with the waiter acting as the middleman. First, they told me I could come back and pick up the missing noodles. That was not realistic. I was already back at work, and it takes me about 25 minutes to get from Fountain Valley to Santa Ana. Driving all the way back for a side of noodles made no sense. So I asked for what seemed like the easiest and most reasonable solution: a complimentary bowl of ramen on my next visit. Instead, I was told no, but they could give me "extra noodles" next time. Extra noodles next time? What exactly was that supposed to do for me when I was sitting there hungry with no actual ramen to eat that day? Then the manager, again through the waiter, said she would personally drive noodles to my job. I even told them that did not make sense because by the time she got there, it would be around 4:30 p.m. At that point, my lunch break would be long over, the ramen would be cold, and all of it would be a waste of my time, her time, restaurant resources, and gas. But I agreed, because at that point it was obvious they really did not want to simply offer me a free bowl of ramen on my next visit. And to be clear, I was not asking for some huge free meal. I was asking to be compensated for the ramen I already paid good money for and did not even receive correctly. For how expensive ramen is, that should not have been a difficult ask. About 10 minutes later, the waiter called back and said the manager would give me a free bowl of ramen next time I came in, which was the exact solution I had suggested from the start. I can only assume she realized how far the drive was and how unnecessary and impractical that solution would have been. Mistakes happen. Forgetting the noodles was one thing. But the way this was handled was unnecessarily difficult, inconvenient, and honestly kind of absurd. I did not ask for a refund. I was looking for an apology and some common-sense customer service. Instead, I got a lot of back-and-forth and a manager who would not even speak to me directly. Kudos to the waiter for doing their best to mediate the situation. Even they thought the situation could of been handled differently by the manager. Very disappointing experience. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to others based on how this situation was handled.

This wasn't just a "ramen joint"--it was a masterclass in authentic Fukuoka-style soul food. The Broth: Liquid Gold The standout was always their Signature Tonkotsu broth. You could literally taste the 30+ hours of labor that went into it. It had that distinct "frothy" texture (the bubble of the bone marrow) that you only find in high-end Hakata shops. It was rich, creamy, and carried a deep umami funk without ever being overly greasy. The Hits * Black Tonkotsu: The roasted garlic oil (mayu) added a smoky, dark complexity that ruined all other garlic ramens for me. * God Fire: For those who like to sweat, this offered the perfect balance of heat without sacrificing the integrity of the pork flavor. * The Karaage: Genuinely some of the best fried chicken in the area. Massive, juicy thigh meat with a shattering, thin crust and that addictive spicy mayo on the side. * Customization: I loved that they let you pick your noodle firmness. "Hard" was the only way to go to ensure that perfect snap with every bite. The Atmosphere The Costa Mesa location always had a great energy--functional, clean, and unpretentious. The staff were always efficient, greeting everyone with a loud "Irasshaimase!" that made the experience feel truly authentic. It's heartbreaking to see such a high-caliber spot leave the neighborhood. If you were lucky enough to eat here, you know we lost a heavy hitter. To the team at Ikkousha: thank you for the memories and the best bowls in the city. You'll be sorely missed! Note: For those still craving that specific broth, their Torrance locations are still holding it down--definitely worth the drive to keep the dream alive. Come back to OC! !

Restaurant quality just hasn't been the same, but that is not the case here. Over the years their team has continued to offer delicious food and a nice casual dining experience. The store is small and cozy, so not great for parties larger than 4, though I'd really just suggest 2. Great for lunch or a low key dinner, it is one of my go-to for ramen spots. I really love their white miso tsukemen, the thick noodles are slightly chilled and served with a wedge of lime which is a nice way to lighten the very rich broth. I've had their red miso before but its deeper flavor is a bit too powerful for my taste, so for those who like something with more umph, that's a great choice as well.

I came on a Friday before 5pm and it was great, no wait and decent amount of parking. Like a few have mentioned, parking is definitely limited and very tight. I got the chashu white miso and it was full to the brim. Generous portion of ramen and there were about 4 chashu slices for the regular size. According to our waiter, the large is basically more noodles and an extra piece of meat. Unfortunately, you cannot sub noodles and have to order as is. The broth is a bit too heavy and fatty for my liking. Would I come back? Ehh maybe, there's just so many ramen places so I rather find a place with lighter broth that isn't too fatty or
