It's clean and the servers were friendly and helpful. The food came out pretty fast and not all at once, which was fine with us. We ordered the following items: pork XLB - these were food, lots of soup, but the skin was just a little thick. But still great flavor. We had the pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings. These were also very good. Good texture, lots of flavor and we just dipped it in the vinegar and soy dipping sauce instead of the sauce they provided. We also ordered the green beans, which were pretty solid. Lots of garlic and that added so much flavor to the beans. There was also beef roll, which my brothers noticed that there's more veggies in it now compared to when they went some months ago. No complaints because it was delicious. Just as good as the first time I went. The service is really good with the wait staff passing by often to see if anything is needed. Ordered the staples but tried a Bok choy dish this time. The restaurant was extremely busy so I definitely recommend joining the waitlist ahead of time, especially if you have a larger party. The cucumber salad is similar to dtf's but slightly with slightly more vinegar and spice. It was extremely refreshing and we preferred this one because it was more flavorful. It was a bit too oily for us which is normal for dan dan noodles, but it was nicely cooked to al dente. The juicy pork dumplings and spicy wontons were both juicy and absolutely stuffed. They were both much larger than dtf's, but I'm not sure if they were similar in taste. The servers were attentive despite the restaurant being busy and the restaurant was clean. Honestly, pretty mid but gets the job done (if the job was to eat DTF on a budget). You definitely get what you pay for. Coming from the 626, I've had my fair share of xlb, beef rolls, and sesame noodles. Xlb was ok. Nice flavors but cold inside and mushy. Sesame cold noodles were packed with cucumbers, and that's all you can taste, the sauce was heavy with sesame and nothing else. Spicy pork dumpling was not spicy at all and similar to the xlb, it was mushy. We also got the potato shrimp which is served with a side of sweet chili. Not much flavor there either unless you dip it in the sweet chili (we found a dead bug in ours but that's besides the point). The best items were the garlic pork short rib and the beef rolls. I will admit that the beef rolls do need more sauce on the inside and the scallion pancake wrap on the outside also lacked flavor. Fried rice was okay. Edible, no complaints. Wouldn't expect fried rice to be too difficult to make. Ended the meal with the pineapple jelly bun (ran out of custard). There was no filling, only bread. Again, you get what you pay for. It's definitely on the cheaper side, but at the expense of quality. I wouldn't actively make my way out here to have a meal, but if I was absolutely starving and this restaurant happened to be the closest one, I may reluctantly walk in. Everything else was 10/10 in terms of flavor. My favorite was the beef roll - by far the best one I've had in a long time. It held up SO well compared to other places that offer XLB for pickup. I ordered a second time at Cypress to hope it wasn't a fluke (and also bc it was genuinely good), and it wasn't! What this small chain does - that SO many don't do especially for takeout - is that here, they thoughtfully ensure the broth isn't super piping hot. Because of this, the wrapper remains chewy + when you bite into it, the soup is there instead of being completely wet and soaked up by the wrapper. Dumplings were bursting with flavor, fried rice was cooked well, except it could have used a pinch more of either soy sauce or salt, and the chicken noodle soup always hits the spot for me here. Can I say they have great customer service? Initially, they brought over kung pao chicken so I thought oh...maybe I ordered wrong and we ate it. Which I might say...the dish is very delicious! Then about 15 minutes later the orange chicken came over so we were puzzled and expressed that we already started the other dish thinking I ordered wrong and we couldn't accept this one. It was only about a 10 minute wait. The place is small and obviously very popular. We ordered based on Yelp reviews favorites.
