Ambiance is beautiful seating area and their private rooms are very nice for you to bring guests you want to impress . The service staff is especially attentive and friendly like the led badges that they wear , bold and in your face . Food served in such a setting will taste better for sure . Strip away the fancy decor and black uniformed staff, and the theatrics of table side duck carvings , the food would be like anything you could get in a Chinatown in Monterey Park . If eating is a total experience for you then this place is satisfied the hype . You but you may gripe if awesome tasting food is your type .

Absolutely loved this place. We came for the Peking duck and it did not disappoint. The tableside flaming presentation was such a fun touch. The duck skin was thin, delicate, and perfectly crispy, while the meat was tender and juicy. Rolling it in the crepes with the condiments was perfection. They recommended pairing the crispy skin with brown sugar and it was honestly so good. The smoked duck was insanely good on its own. Everything else we tried was great too. The okra dish was really tasty and beautifully plated. The wonton soup was light and delicate, and the golden fish soup was straight fire. The Szechuan beef tasted very authentic with the right amount of heat, and the crispy shrimp was a standout. We ended with dessert and it was worth the wait of 30 mins. The peppercorn ice cream was unique and delicious, and the red bean cake (which takes about 30 minutes) was excellent. We loved all the desserts and every entrée we ordered. Definitely a place we'd come back to.

Had a great experience at Taste of Chang'an in Tustin! Nice ambiance! The service was excellent and the food was delicious. My favorite dish was definitely the Peking duck -- so flavorful and perfectly done. Highly recommend! Tustin 的品味长安体验很好!低调的奢华设计~服务很不错,食物也很好吃。最喜欢他们家的烤鸭,味道特别棒!很推荐!

One of the best Peking Duck destinations on SoCal for sure. Service here is always great and all the dishes they recommended tasted 10/10. Of courses we were there for the main attraction. Peking Duck!!

This was a very fancy and different experience. The service was fast and the waiter gave good recommendations and answered any questions I had. I came here for a birthday dinner and was very satisfied with my experience. The table-side duck you have to call ahead to have and it was delectable. The crispy skin was crunchy and dipped in the sugar was perfect. The duck was tender and went well with all the toppings. The noodles were chewy and were not too spicy. The tea was in this beautiful pot and had unlimited refills. The only downside is that this place was very pricy, but good for special occasions/date nights.

Had came here to celebrate my birthday and what an experience! The ambiance was very modern and had an upscale feel. The service was great and everyone was very welcoming. The table side duck was impressive and our party enjoyed it a lot. The presentation of the food was beautiful and everything tasted great and flavorful. Best part was definitely the crispy duck skin with the brown sugar. The table side duck is reservation only so be sure to call ahead. On top of that the leftover duck can be made in a soup for extra charge or another dish I forget. We did add the soup and it was good as well. The staff was so nice, instead of dessert for birthdays, they gave me a complimentary bowl of noodle that signifies longevity in their culture. I was definitely surprised and very thankful. It was a very nice dining experience!

The service here was incredible. People here are so nice. The decor is fancy and I love the ambiance. It's classy and they have custom made chopstick rests that I love. Roast duck: 9/10. But 10/10 for the experience of them setting the duck on fire. They set it on fire before taking it back to carve it into separate ways to experience it - one with the duck skin, one with the duck meat, and another optional added cost for soup. Lotus root: 8/10. Fun experience since they use carbon to give off a foggy effect. Short rib: 8/10. Very flavorful and tender. I love the presentation of having it with the giant bone. Braised short rib with quail eggs: 7/10. Succulent but maybe a bit too fatty. Spring pea shoots: 7/10. Good and necessary but a bit too oily and portion was small. Soup with shrimp dumplings: 6/10. Nothing standout. Some people in our group didn't like it. Noodles: 7/10. Good but small portion. Flavor is okay. Dessert soup tang yuan: 7/10. Small and pricey but still good. Overall, everything was good but with the prices, I admit it's hard to come back here. Still, the experience was excellent.

Chang'an opened up around the end of the COVID era, and I've been coming here on and off for a few years. One thing I really enjoy about this place is the unique architecture, which is beautiful and elegant while still fitting the contemporary feel of the restaurant. The food quality is always top-notch and the service has consistently been excellent. This restaurant is my go-to spot for authentic high-end Shaanxi cuisine. I came this time with my family for lunch, and the space was fairly empty at this hour so we were seated quickly. Menus were brought over along with a complimentary plate of guokui pita, which is always a nice touch. Every dish we ordered was cooked perfectly and tasted just as great as I remembered. I especially recommend the crispy pork ribs, the pork belly sliders, and the lamb stew with pita, which are all regional specialties you don't see often. Their duck specialty is also amazing, but you need to reserve it in advance. It is carved and served table-side, which adds to the experience. If I had to point out one drawback, it would be the size of the tables. The plates here are quite large, and the small round tables can only comfortably fit about three dishes at once. As a result, you either have to eat fairly quickly or constantly move plates around to make space. But this isn't an issue at their larger rectangular tables. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for truly authentic and upscale Chinese cuisine. You will not find your typical orange chicken here. Overall, it's an excellent restaurant, though it is on the pricier side. Everything is served family-style, and you should be prepared to spend around 100-150 dollars per person.

It was our first time at Chang'An, and we're officially in love. We ordered the Duck with the Fire Show, and it was incredible. The meat was tender, full of flavor, and the presentation was so fun to watch. My little boys couldn't get enough of the Peking Duck and were so sad we could only order one per table. The crispy duck skin with a little sugar was such a treat. We also ordered the crispy beef tongue, and it was surprisingly delicious. It was nice watching my boys enjoy such a delicacy, lol. The vibe is beautiful and classy, and the service was amazing. We didn't even tell them it was my husband's birthday because he likes to keep things low-key, but they surprised us with longevity noodles anyway. It was such a sweet and thoughtful touch that really made our night. Honestly, this place feels like an elevated Chinese dining experience right in the heart of Orange County. We can't wait to come back.

Charcoal tofu. Very flavorful and striking dish.

I really enjoy Chang'an. I've been here at least 3-4 times and haven't been disappointed yet. Caveat: Vegan / Vegetarian eater here. Yes. It's a pricey Chinese restaurant. But, you know this fact before you come here if you've looked at the $$$$ on Yelp. I thinks it's unfair, therefore, to dock stars based on price. I'd rather pay more once in awhile while, especially for special occasions, to enjoy a quiet, full-service, and inventive meal than to save a few bucks and go to your dime-a-dozen Chinese restaurant that is loud, dirty, and crowded. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent. Friendly, professional, and attentive staff with digital name tags move efficiently and courteously to make your meal a dining experience - rearranging serving utensils, taking away empty plates, refreshing your tea, and checking in on your comfort. They serve a complimentary Chinese flat bread paired with peanuts, a spicy sauce, and pickled celtuce stems. Seasonal, rotating menu keeps the food interesting. I'm always impressed by their great vegan options. Complements to the chef and kitchen for creating unique dishes each with distinct flavors and beautiful presentation. Good choice of desserts too, though less vegan options here. Wonderful selection of quality teas. Love this restaurant! Will keep coming here and can't understand why it has such low ratings. Totally disagree.

    Duck wonton soup

This place is definitely a break the bank restaurant or a special occasion place unless you're balling. All the entrees are around $40+. We came here for the flaming duck (must make a reservation for it) which is roughly $140. This itself was pretty worth it imo. They light the entire duck on fire for you then they cut it into bite size pieces. They cut half and then they smoke the other half which i thought was really good! Other entrees we ordered crispy squab - 1/5, pretty lackluster compared to the duck. $50 for 1 squab, bits of it were dry. never again. charcoal tofu - 3/5 pretty good but it's just fried tofu that they made black duck wonton soup- 2/5 - soup itself was bland and could only taste the cilantro, the duck wontons were good though green chili chicken w/ hand pulled noodles 4/5 - worth getting again. Good spice on the entree and the noodles had a great que que to it. spicy chicken cubes 3/5 - probably one of the best i've had, the chicken cubes were a lot longer/bigger, but for the price it was not double the quality of other restaurant versions of this. The service was hit and miss during the night. I flagged down two people to order and then right around when our duck was going to be served someone came to take our order. Towards the end of the night it got better and they took our dishes away to box it up for us.

I enjoyed the golden beef prime noodle soup. The Beef was tender, soup was light and had the right amount of seasoning and spicynness. I wasn't impressed with the scalion pancake--it felt a little dry, a bit bland and very thin compared to those found in other restaurants. We ordered beef wrap, scallion, xiao long bao, and golden prime beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup definitely has a kick to it. It was a little too spicy for my daughter so she ate mostly the other three items. Their xiao long bao was very comparable to Din Tai Fung. Everything was very good. Normally, my daughter and I prefer the beef wrap with no cucumber, but we didn't even mind it at all as it gives a nice crunch and not too overpowering. We will definitely come back and try more items.

We've been here several times before and what keeps us coming back is the quality of the food. Today, they had a new chef cook our food and it was terrible. Green beans were extremely sour (way way too much vinegar). Mapo Tofu had a ton of oil but not enough sauce, so it was just flavorless except the oil. The fried pork chop was over fried where some pieces you can't even bite through. The rice had too much water in it and was mushy. I rarely return food but this time it was so bad we had to let them know. We returned all of our dishes back to them. They let us know there was a new chef today, and they would remake all the dishes for us with the original chef. The replacement dishes were just as good as all our previous visits and it was excellent again! So thanks to the staff for fixing the problem. I'm not sure if they are training a new chef to take over, or as a backup, but they need to be careful as serving bad quality food like that would drive most people to never come back. We knew the food was good from prior experience, so we knew we could ask why the food quality changed. For first time customers, or those that may have ordered to go - if you had bad food today, it may have been a fluke due to the new chef. Service however was a amazing as usual. For all our visits including today, the staff has been kind and always looking for ways to help out and make sure we were having a good experience. So besides the food being good, I would say excellent service is also huge plus here. Don't be fooled with the automated ordering and robot delivering the food into thinking there is no service. The people behind the counter are awesome! Hope management takes care of this new chef issue quickly since their food quality is the main reason people come here. There was a night and day difference between the original food we got today, and the replacement!

It had been a couple of months since we were last there and my parents and my daughter had been asking to go back and were really looking forward to eating there. However, we were so disappointed when we went back 2 weeks ago! The menu changed a bit, which was fine, and all our usual dishes were still there. We did notice that the cooks have changed and the original Cantonese chef was not there. I think the kitchen staff really changed how the flavors of the dishes for the worst. My 7yo daughter used to love their shrimp fried rice, but as soon as the fried rice came out, the first thing she said was "how come it looks so different from before." Not only did it look different, it was BURNT. It was like they fried the rice in a burnt wok so every grain of rice was coated in tiny black burnt bits. It was essentially inedible. They also just topped the rice with some tastless blanched shrimp instead of actually stir frying the shrimp into the rice. The green onion pancake used to be flakey with layers and expectedly oily for this dish, but the pancake we got this time was essentially a tasteless tortilla. It literally looked and tasted like a tortilla. No layers, flakes or oil at all and was the worst green onion pancake I've ever had anywhere. The fish with black bean sauce was acceptable, but it was definitely not the same. It tasted more like American Chinese flavors instead of the previous authentic Cantonese flavors. The only dish that I thought was still good was the stir fried eggplants, although my parents said it also tasted more Americanized. We are so sad that the food here has changed so much and it was one of the rare places my Cantonese dad actually said tasted authentically Cantonese in the area. The restaurant was full during our latest vist but we did notice that 90% of the diners and people ordering take-out were non-Asians. When we came previously, there was a good mix of Asian and non-Asian diners, so it seems like the clientele have shifted, which might explain the flavor changes or vice versa. The staff is still very nice and friendly, but it seems like the robot server has been laid off. I don't think we will be coming back again unfortunately as the food is no longer what we loved before. However, they seemed to still be doing well so others must still like it.

I got the spicy shabu shabu and it was so delicious. Their udon noodles really are the star of the show, although they also have a great assortment of other dishes on the menu.

Both of their menus are very similar, and you will see some same dishes across the two. We started off with their crispy kara-age (fried chicken) which is best eaten with a squeeze of lemon and dunked into their yummy garlicky, oniony dipping sauce. Always best eaten right out of the fryer, piping hot. You just can't go wrong with their most popular app. For starters, we also got their blistered shishito peppers, which comes with bonito flakes dancing from the steam of the peppers. If you've never had shishito peppers before, they are very very mild in spiciness, but be warned you'll always have one extra spicy pepper when you least expect it! For our main, we got the spicy beef udon, which comes simmering in its metal bowl atop a fire, keeping it hot as you enjoy it slowly. The red broth has a nice kick of heat, but not so spicy that it will irritate your throat. The slices of beef are oh so tender and flavorful. The rich broth clings on perfectly to the thick udon noodles. If you're sharing, plan on getting extra udon noodles to soak up all that delicious broth! At the end, drop the cheesy rice ball into the broth to make a congee, soaking up more of that delicious broth. The staff is welcoming and friendly, checking in at the right times and even offering bibs to help with the splashes of broth if you're a messy eater!
