About time Sacramento got a mid-sized concert venue. Despite the well-documented parking issues and lack of options to eat and drink before or after the show in the area, Channel 24 lived to the expectations and is very welcome addition to Midtown area. Everyone who's been to Fox in Oakland will not have a problem recognizing the similarites. That is because both Fox and Channel 24 are ran by the same promoter and share a lot of the same design features. The acoustics and sound quality is very good and the view from the floor, even the back of the room, is intimate. I'd say about 80% of the approx 2,000 capacity is on the floor, with reserved (ticketed) seating on the center balcony upstairs, and some limited GA balcony on the sides. We saw Jack White on his second night, and the concert itself was all I could hope for. Unfortunately, the balcony GA spots were all already taken before the opening act even started, so the floor was it for the night. I couldn't help but notice that it would be nice if the stage was a little higher, but it will probably not bother taller people. However, that's not me. The event staff I interacted with were all curteous and the lines were moving fast with no issues getting in. The drinks are pricy and the beer selection is fair at best, same as at Fox. If there is an area that needs improvement, that would be it. If paying $15 for a beer, I'd expect something beter and/or more local than Lagunitas or Sierra Nevada. We had a great time with Jack White and can't wait to see another show at Channel 24. Looking at the acts that are already booked, there won't be any issues getting to the 2,000 capacity on nightly basis. It's safe to say that Channel 24 and Sacramento are a perfect match. read more

Worst experience I've had at a venue. They clearly oversold tickets and left many guests with nowhere to stand or enjoy the show. To make it worse, Ticketmaster has you choose a specific standing section and charges different prices, but once you're there, you're told to stand wherever you can fit because the areas are already full. When we asked for help, the manager said, "I don't have a beautiful answer for you. Just try to fit in somewhere." Then staff suggested security could remove us instead of addressing the issue. Poor customer service and poor crowd management. Never again. read more

I was here recently to see Josh Johnson. It was my first time at the venue. I didn't quite know what to expect. It's definitely a no frills warehouse-ish venue. They have a bar. There's no food you could get chips which was a bummer because we didn't have time to get dinner before our show. The floor seating was comfortable. I did feel a little squished next to the stranger to my left, but it wasn't a big deal. The price was right for the ticket so I don't think I would have wanted to pay more in such a confined space. It's always good to have more event spaces in the 916 and I know they bring in a variety of talent. Caught the Morgan Jay show here. Never had attended this venue before, but did research and was dreading parking. It actually wasn't a headache at all, as long as you show up a little early. The check-in process was painless. The ushers did a good hub getting attendees to their seats. The bartenders were efficient and friendly. The chairs are folding and not all that comfortable. read more

Came here for a comedy show on Friday night. The venue is huge and spacious! I arrived right on time so I didn't have time to walk around much other than to use the restroom and grab a drink at the bar. Restroom was clean and well maintained. There were 2 bars but the one downstairs near the entrance was packed, so I went upstairs and was helped right away. They allow 2 drinks per person which was nice so I didn't have to leave my area once I was seated. I got really good seats and didn't realize if you get a table seat, the servers come down to take your order, so something to think about if you come here for a visit. Service was great, servers are really nice! I'm so glad a got a table seat cause I didn't have to keep getting up to let people get up to go to the restrooms/bar. Great show and would definitely come back again. Only thing I will mention is parking was kind of hard to find. There is a parking lot that was charging $30 nearby but I drove around a few times and got lucky with a spot a block away on the same street so just keep that in mind if you come on a Friday/Saturday. read more

*CH 24 is a cashless venue* I was hoping for more from a venue that was built from the ground up. There are VERY limited seats. There is a small section upstairs, but that's it. The rest of the upstairs area is standing room only. There are two levels where you can stand against a rail. On the right side anyone can stand at the rails on both levels. On the left side, you can only stand on the rail on the upper level, the lower is reserved for VIPs I believe. The first floor holds the most people and is standing room only. The first level is one level, so if you're short, you're out of luck. I wish there were two different standing levels on the first floor so more people could see. Security is great, they have the metal detectors you walk through with your bag. The security only looks in your bag if the detector goes off, which makes the line move quickly. Merch is downstairs near the staircase, and there might be a second merch table upstairs, depending on the artist. There is one bar upstairs. On the first floor, there are two bars inside, which is nice because you don't have to leave to get a drink. There is an outdoor smoking area on the second floor, but you can't take your drink out there with you, you have to leave it on a table inside (probably so people don't throw their drinks). The stairs aren't carpeted, so there's a lot of liquid from people spilling their drinks. The staff work hard on cleaning up any spills. There is also an elevator you can take to the second floor. There is a coat check upstairs, I'm not sure how much it costs. There are no gender neutral restrooms, and there are not many stalls. There's only 6 stalls in the women's bathroom upstairs. You should go to the restroom when someone is playing, the lines are long during breaks. Street parking is a no-go. The city changed all the signs around the venue to 1-hour parking only, so you will get a ticket if you park on the street. They try to push taking the light rail to the venue, which is great since there is a stop right in front. However, you have to find a different way home because the light rail stops running before the show ends. You can pre-pay for parking through the CH 24 website or at parkwhiz.com. There are quite a few lots around the venue, and they all vary in price. The venue is nice because it's new. I would have given 2 stars, but the staff are excellent, so I gave it 3 stars. I wish the layout were better and there were more public transportation options. APE owns the Fox in Oakland and the Greek in Berkeley, I much prefer those venues. read more

Probally one of the best concert experiences I've had. I saw Djo there on the 18th and the energy was great! Loved the setup on stage, the lighting was impressive and was wide so you could see the whole band very well. I got lucky and was at barricade and it seemed like despite it being a sold out show there was plenty of room for everyone. It didn't feel like we were all squished together in a tiny box. The bursts of ac were great too, compared to other venues where I'm just hot and gross all the time during the breaks I felt a great temp. Tbh even if I ended up in the back on balcony I feel like the view would have been great! It's designed very well so that there is actually no bad spot in the house. The acoustics were amazing too, not overpowering and so clean. I didn't feel like my head was gunna explode from being that close to the stage!! My only negatives were 1- the line management was a lil messy and confusing but they fixed it. 2- my friends said the bartenders were rude to them and very judgy. 3- parking (not the venues fault at all) is insane lol. I packed at the lot next to the venue ($30) and they had cars double parked ._. Like blocking other cars in which is very messed up in my opinion. There really isn't much else nearby cause it's neighborhood and I've heard people get tickets there if u go early. Next time will def look into the train since there is a stop right next to it. Which now that I think about it you can't hear it at all during the concert which is cool! read more

Came here first time for Madness on 5/14- allow me to share my experience so you can know what to expect. Parking- got to the venue 20 mins before doors opened, and were happy to see a parking lot right by the venue for $20 (first photo). A Wednesday mind you so maybe weekends you may want to get there earlier. This was after we first paid for a spot on 1624 22nd St thru the website but, when we got there, didn't realize it was an abandoned lot. Didn't feel comfortable going there and street parking had the app to download but, wasn't sure with paying and it expiring during the show, so will stick to the $20 one with security. Doors opened not at 7, but made it inside at 7:20 being 30th in line. Took a spot in the balcony which was super easy to walk to and claim a spot. Best spot in my opinion. Also the patio outside the top was nice with plenty of bathrooms and drinking fountains! Bars were busy almost the whole night and the only food I saw were potato chips so be aware. Also really cool lights/ sound and as they've mentioned... the staff have all been super nice and helpful. I'll gladly go back to another show! read more

Wanted to see Jack White in a venue we hadn't been to before--when the presale notification arrived, we were in. We arrived early, parked and walked a few blocks to grab some dinner. Security was speedy. Staff were super helpful and nice. We had reserved seating which was comfortable. Love the set up for general admission. Restrooms and bars on both levels along with an outdoor balcony. There was a seating area upstairs as well. Leaving the venue was one of the best operations I have ever seen. Attended the Jesse McCartney concert. I was general admission on the floor. There was a girl in front of me absolutely wasted. Throwing around her jacket, hitting me in the face, stumbling and falling back on me. My friend and I let security know twice about the disturbance she was causing to us as well as others. They completely ignored us and just stared at the situation of us uncomfortable during the show. The venue is nice but the concert was not an amazing experience due to their lack of customer satisfaction service. read more

The paid parking next door across the streets from the venue is convenient on arrival but a true nightmare to leave, you will not get out of there I. Under an hour, zero organization, structure, leadership, common sense, planning on the parking, their only care is overloading the entire lot to get every single dollar possible. Came to see a Prof concert here. Drove and hour and 1/2, got a hotel to avoid driving home and took the next day off work. Right before the main performer I walked out front (to smoke, sorry). When I tried to come back in I was promptly told there was no in and outs. I was clearly in site of the front doors, didnt walk to a car or talk to anyone and the security guard refused reentry. There was no obvious signage from what I saw and no one warned me before exiting. I mentioned they didnt have a smoking section inside and the security guard basically said "oh well". So I wasted the cost of the ticket, hotel, travel time and a vacation day. I checked the website to make sure I hadnt overlooked something major and when you go on the FAQ page there is one mention on the 7th FAQ down. SUPER disappointing! Really nice staff, great sound, easy entry. However, anyone over 30 may have issues unless you pay extra for a seat. There is really nowhere to sit. I was (temporarily) disabled and there was not even any ADA seating available the night of the show, you had to be on a really long waitlist even though there were a dozen or more empty seats in the balcony. I asked for a folding chair or something like that but was refused. So, only small numbers of old, disabled or tired people are allowed, I guess. :/ I had called their office at the Fox Theater in Oakland beforehand (because the Sacramento office was not yet open and they were directing people to call APE down there), and was told that at all of their venues there would always be enough and they could just bring me a chair if one wasn't available, but that turned out to be untrue. read more

I don't like leaving poor reviews - I prefer to contact businesses to give input so they have a chance to respond but in this case no one has responded. My daughter and I attended the Whitney Cummings show recently. Sadly we were subjected to an extremely drunk and loud couple in the audience behind us. They were belligerently yelling most of the evening making the show completely unenjoyable. My daughter finally told these men that they were being very loud and they became confrontational berating her loudly. The entire night (we were in the 2nd row) a security guard was sitting very close and he was able to see and hear these men. He was looking at us and at them all night but he did absolutely nothing. When my daughter finally told the security guard "these guys need to be spoken to, they are drunk and loud" he left to find another more senior security guard. This second security guard was helpful but by this time the show was concluding. The night was already ruined after having these two loud drunk men yelling in our ears all night. In this day and age it's scary for women to say anything to someone acting poorly especially when people have been drinking. The security guard sitting by the stage should have intervened much earlier. I am hoping more training can be offered to staff since this venue is serving alcohol. read more

I had a horrible experience at Channel 24 in Sacramento. I purchased VIP tickets through Ticketmaster to see Rainbow Kitten Surprise and showed up at the time Ticketmaster provided. Despite this, the staff treated me terribly. When I asked if I could at least receive the VIP merchandise bag -- even if I didn't get to meet the band -- I was told I was "basically screwed." All I wanted was the merchandise I paid for, but instead of helping, staff escalated things. With only two drinks in me, they resorted to grabbing and pushing me instead of handling the situation professionally. I've been to a lot of concerts before, and this has never fucking happened anywhere else. This was my first concert in Sacramento, and unfortunately, it left a really bad impression. I cannot recommend Channel 24 to anyone. I plan to file a formal report about the way I was treated. read more

Went to a show at Channel 24, and all I can say is total disorganization and lack of direction. Also, it's located in a residential neighborhood, which feels totally wrong. The show got out late on a week night and it was clear the neighbors were upset with the droves of people walking by. If you are short, I highly recommend arriving early and getting a good spot in the balcony if you want an unobstructed view. We luckily did and it was great! It just gets a little hot since you are so high up. The section for those with disabilities could use a little work. Although I'm not disabled, this is something I noticed... They have very limited seats/space for those who are disabled and it was unfortunate to see them squeeze in those with wheelchairs plus their partners. It looks like they made a middle section right in the center of the ada section for regular seating also. They should have made the whole front row ada seating in my opinion to better accommodate those with disabilities but thats just me. read more

It's a nice venue for concerts - large, clean. Parking is a nightmare... your best bet is to pay ahead on their website to be in the lot next to the venue (don't wait until day of - last time they had me pay on site, then told me it sold out and they diverted us to 2 other lots before having a spot for us). Inside they could use some more seating, or railing or tall tables to lean against... the main floor is just a huge open space. Balcony standing looks like a good option, but fills up quickly. If they keep the country concerts coming, we will keep going! read more

Pretty good for a newly opened venue. Would give it a 3 for the venue itself but having an easily accessible coat check in was a big plus in my books after buying merch. Plus being able to meet the band afterward was a big plus too though I'd imagine many bands do not do the same. read more

I just went to a concert there yesterday to see the Wallows and it was a great atmosphere! Drinks were normal price and love the balcony seats. The only thing is that for people who buy the balcony seats I would make it a rule that you can't stand for the entire concert if you have a seat. I could not see the band with peoples heads in my view from standing the entire time. read more

Really excited about a new medium sized venue in Sac. I saw Sierra Ferrell there, the lineup and entry process was good (though the summer heat might get kind of nasty lining up on the side of the building). Staff were pleasant and professional. I would agree with another post that the GA Floor area is quite big, but it's flat not tiered so height challenged people are kind of screwed, and inevitably people pack in to where there isn't any wiggle room (also, why do people wear cowboy hats to indoor concerts...AT NIGHT!? FFS!). The upstairs section is seating (I assume that was extra $), a very limited ADA section, and then a front and center "friends and family" section (ugh), on the sides upstairs is limited standing bar which I assume you have to get there very early for. They really need to accommodate ADA better. They claim there is a place on the Ticketmaster site to check ADA when getting tix, but it was nowhere to be found. In fact the people in charge were saying there was a problem in selecting ADA they knew about, but "would try to accommodate as best they could" by taking my number and texting me if they had something. Throughout the show, I looked up and saw open seats, but they never texted. Not cool. Hopefully they will work that kink out soon and before my next show there! Ticketmaster is no bueno, I really wish Another Planet would not use them. Aside from these things, good sound, steep drink prices, very limited parking near the venue, but, that's also just midtown. read more

If you have a disability, do not give this venue your time or your money. For a brand new venue the accessibility is atrocious. It holds 2,100 people and the overwhelming majority is standing room only. There are seats in the upper balcony, but only 21 (yes, you read that right 21) are accessible for people with disabilities. This is 1 row of removable chairs, not a single other seat in the venue is accessible without climbing up stairs. Their website writes a very long and flowery diatribe about how important accessibility is to them, and has done the absolute bare minimum required by the ADA to accomodate people with disabilities. Rachel, the ADA coordinator on site was as helpful as she could be, but the facility was designed for only the most able of bodies, and she had no ability to accomodate anyone not lucky enough to purchase 1 of the 21 accessible seats. no workarounds, no nothing, just a waitlist and a lot of "I'm sorry, the ADA only requires 1 seat per 100, this is legal." The bathrooms are also woefully inadequate, there is literally 1 disabled stall in the upstairs bathroom, but when you design the facility to discourage people with disabilities to attend, i guess you don't need adequate bathroom accomodations? The acoustics are garbage at best, and the stage sits barely 4 feet above the floor, so viewing anything from the main floor if you are not the tallest person in the room must be frustrating at best. I have used a wheelchair for 22 years and been to hundreds of venues across the country, this is by far the worst. 1 star is too many, we will not be returning. read more

Show was great sound was decent, but please do something about the smoking not all of us smoke cannabis not all of those smoke nicotine. There's nobody controlling all the vaping going on. Please do something about the smoking. Not even the ace of spades allows this kind of smoking in their venues. read more

Requested an ADA seat from Rachel the ADA assistant and was told she would contact me if a seat was available once show started, then once the show started random people that got there late and were looking for a spot, just sat there. WTF!! Had to leave early because I couldn't stand for the entire show, especially since I got there early trying to make accommodations. Wouldn't recommend this venue, go else where to enjoy show even if you pay a bit more, I would've preferred that versus not catching the whole show plus I was out what I paid for parking. I'd have to say my only complaint about this place is before empire of the sun came on stage I went and got me and my girlfriend two vodka Red Bulls it was $35 which I expected right before empire of the sun came on stage she went and got the exact two drinks, but was charged $55 so I'm a little confused as to why the drinks were $20 more for the same vodka same Red Bull same size drink if it weren't for me losing my place in front of the stage I would have went up to the bartender and asked him to explain so just be cautious when you are ordering drinks that they don't try to cheat you.
