Our family has quickly fallen in love with this place and their great food. My only caution would be watch your spice level. Our 2's and 3's are not their's! Phew! Sometimes, a bit spicy, just be careful what you choose. But--Delicious! Make sure to get a Thai tea, that always lowers the heat! Our favorite go-to's are their spring rolls for appetizers, and the fresh spring rolls. The crab rangoons were good, too. For main things--one of the best Pad See Ew ever, and great curries. So far, I have had the Green, Pumpkin, and Mussaman. We absolutely LOVED their fried rice! Service wise, we've had mixed service, but always "competent". This is definitely the best Thai experience I've had in the Pittsburgh area. The dining room looks very clean, and the server was very friendly. They made a point that there will be a wait in spite of there only being two customers in the dining room because of all of the online take-out orders. In actuality it was a good thing because it gave us time to actually enjoy our tea and appetizer before the main course. The food was very good and tasted fresh and light. This is not good. I ordered noodles with chicken. The noodles all stuck together and the chicken was overdone and almost burnt. The Tom yum soup with shrimp had one shrimp Tons of onions and nothing else. Sadly I would not recommend and I called for take out as soon as they opened and was told 25 minute wait. read more

So you still need lunch even when visiting a cemetery, right? This Thai place is right across the street from the memorial gardens where we were 'visiting' family, and it was a terrific find. It's a small, family run place and the dishes we had were excellent. I had pad Thai with chicken and it was so well spiced and had a rich flavor. I am not much of a spice person, so, I asked for spice at number 2 on a scale of 1 - 10. It was perfect. DH had a different dish at heat 5 and he loved it. I would tell you the name of it if I remembered. One of our kids got the soup with noodles and tofu and vegetables and it was pronounced delicious. We all enjoyed sharing in her large bowl filled with goodies. The other kid had another pad Thai and although spicier than I'd like, she loved it. If you haven't tried this place you should. Everything is good: Service: owner works hard for the money. Care and love is poured into each dish. I have visited countless times, more than I can count with both hands. Cannot go wrong any dish: Pad Thai w tofu - only tofu I have had that actually tastes like it should! Seafood Curry - great with a bowl of rice. What an awesome, hidden gem! Small, family ran restaurant in a plaza. Two people cooking, one person waiting on tables, this was definitely not a place to come in a hurry but we didn't mind. I will say there were a ton of takeout orders while we were there, seems like a great spot for pick-up. The food itself was amazing, it came out hot with just the right amount of spice. Some of the best Thai I have had recently. Everything from the service to the food here was top notch. I went with the tofu pad Thai, spice level 4. 5 is their top spice level. I thought the 4 was perfect. Definitely spicy, but not so much that you couldn't em taste the great flavors. The tofu was cooked perfectly, which can really make or break a dish. Everything was so good, that I had to force myself to stop eating with how big the portions are. My wife ordered the drunken noodles and really liked hers as well. Would highly recommend! read more

After hearing several of my fellow Pittsburgh foodies rave about this spot, I decided to treat myself for lunch today! This relatively new restaurant in Pleasant Hills, located in the Curry Hollow Shopping Center anchored by Michael's, Duffy's and Levin, is outstanding. They have online ordering that for some reason wasn't allowing me to check out today when I tried, but I was able to see the menu there, and called in my order of Massaman curry with tofu, onions, carrots, potatoes and peanuts. For an $8.95 lunch special you also get soup, salad or two Thai baby spring rolls with pineapple sauce, the latter of which I chose and you can peep in the background of my meal. The owner was just lovely, providing recommendations and, when they were out of a couple of kinds of bubble tea, suggested they could make a Thai iced tea with boba which was heavenly. That led to us discussing Covid-related supply shortages and she mentioned that they are looking to hire cooks and servers, if you know anyone in the area looking for a job! I'm not sure if they are currently doing takeout only; no one was seated inside the restaurant while I was there. But the tables did look to be set up for indoor dining. The interior is surprisingly nice for a strip mall restaurant location; they have really transformed the place and it has a calm, clean relaxing vibe where I would really enjoy having a meal. When I posted about this spot on Instagram, someone told me that the owners are a lovely couple who used to work at Papaya in Robinson and that Chao Phraya is their dream of owning a Thai restaurant. They have worked extremely hard to accomplish this, and she's been driving all the way from Moon to support them. I notice that of my fellow Yelpers reviewed this spot with a note that the taste reminds them of their hometown in Thailand. I just know what I like and I thought this was all absolutely delicious, but I can't think of a better endorsement than that. It's also super vegetarian friendly. I will be back often! read more

So, I just found out about this restaurant while browsing yelp for a thai place in the south hills near me which has been limited. I was so pleasantly surprised to find this one 10 mins from me! Apparently it's pretty new. It is in a shopping center right where DD is on Lebanon Church Rd near West Mifflin shops, convenient after a gym session! Normally I wouldn't judge a place based on take out which is rule number one in reviewing (I feel other than honesty). However, this was delicious and I am picky with Thai food so I can only imagine how much better it tastes dining in. I ordered pickup right from yelp and was ready in 15 mins. The atmosphere was really welcoming and relaxed that I would rather have eaten in. I got spiciness of 3/5 which was just right! The only thing I was confused of is the website has more curry varieties than order menu lets you choose from such as the pineapple curry or mango which were not there however yellow curry has pineapple anyway. I'll be back plenty times! Also great prices! Only $12 for huge portion. read more

EDIT ON MY REVIEW - 8/10/22 While the food here is very good, and I realized I probably won't be coming back here. I Never had a problem before, but the last time was just too much that warranted my never wanting to step foot in there again. I ordered online. I ordered for pick up in 30 minutes. At 30 mins I arrived there and the woman, at first didn't know what I meant, and when I told her about the online order, she went and checked. THEN she proceeded to yell at me that food is made to order and it takes time, that I was early. I explained my pick up was for 215 and I didn't mind waiting, but she was out of control, yelling that it took time and it was going to be a while. A half hour later, I got my food. Honestly, all she had to do was say she didn't see the order. Instead transferred blame to me when Drunken noodles don't take an hour. read more

Friends in the area were raving about this restaurant, so we had to give it a try! I will say the crab Rangoons were the best I've ever had!! They were paired with a pineapple sauce (which I've never had before!). It was fabulous!!! Also had the dumplings which were also good. My husband went out on a limb and tried the pho soup and unfortunately wasn't a fan. He has never had this anywhere before so maybe he just is not into this type of soup? I had the crab fried rice. It was delicious! Occasionally i would get a small piece of shell in with the dish, so please watch out for that if you order this dish. The restaurant was very clean, the staff was friendly. WOW this place has good food. I ordered the green curry noodle soup and added shrimp: rice noodle, shrimp, bamboo, bell pepper, carrots, baby corn, eggplant, and basil leaves in coconut milk and green curry paste. I got spice level 3 out of 5. Amazing. All of the flavors were incredible. The green curry paste and coconut milk was so rich and aromatic. The eggplant was smooth and velvety. Thank you!! I love Thai food and when I seen that this was near me I knew that I had to try it out. First of all, they have a large menu with many options to try. My favorite Thai food is in downtown Pittsburgh, too far to travel to pickup food and bring home. This place wow.. the food was ready on time, the food was amazing. It's definitely the BEST Thai food that I've ever had. My wife agreed her pad Thai was delicious. They provide a 1-5 on how spicy your food will be. I chose a 3 and it wasn't bad or as spicy as I anticipated. I will go up to a 4 next time. They provide you a large quantity of food, be prepared to have leftovers for the next day. So happy we finally go to try this new Thai place near us. We usually have to drive downtown for our favorite Thai spot, but I think we found a new fave! First, everyone working was so nice and our food was ready quick and don't correctly. The menu has a lot of great options and the prices were fair for the portion size. I got two meals out of my entree. We had the spring rolls, pad Thai with tofu, and drunken noodles with chicken. The spring rolls were nice and crispy with a good veggie filling. My drunken noodles were AMAZING!! The texture of the noodles and sauce were perfect. I got a spice level 2 and I will say it was very spicy. Next time I will be sure to get a level 1, so just a heads up! Cannot wait to come back and try more menu items soon! read more

Love this place! Ate in person once but it's definitely more of a take out spot. The food is very fresh and vegetable heavy which is amazing! We usually get the yellow curry with chicken which has huge potato chunks and the pumpkin curry with tofu which is just packed with pumpkin, bamboo, peppers, etc. I always get spice level 1 for the pumpkin curry. Spicy Bangkok noodles were overall very good. I feel like they could have added a little more seasoning and there wasn't much chicken at all. I ordered a 2/5 spice level and I'd say it was more a 1. I don't know that I've ever been to a Thai restaurant before, just Chinese. We've heard and seen wonderful things about this new restaurant that opened in our community and finally gave it a try. We ordered mid week and I will warn you that the wait for takeout was long, so plan accordingly. About an hour. We ordered online so we didn't tie up someone on the phone and the online system said 15-30 minutes so we hopped in the car pretty quickly to get it. It wasn't until we arrived that we got another email with an updated time that our food would be ready which was the 60 minutes. Just a heads up to wait for that other email or I'm sure calling on the phone could prevent that misunderstanding too. When we went inside to pickup our food, there seemed to just be 1 woman in the kitchen and 1 in the front of the house which explained the wait times. They were both so friendly and kind. The food itself was good. We tried the spring rolls which is probably the best I've had in the area. We also got the crab Angel which my fiancé loved. The best thing out of everything we ordered was the pineapple sauce, it's absolutely delicious. We got pad Thai and then spicy bamboo. You're able to select the best ratings and we got 2 and 3 respectively. I will say that there wasn't any noticeable difference between the 2 items spice wise and they were both extremely spicy... like burn your lips, nose running, mouth uncomfortably hot kind of spicy... and I personally like a decent amount of spice. The spice was a bit overpowering and took away from the food itself, so just maybe order a bit milder than you think initially. We will totally go back, but will stick with a spice level of 1 moving forward lol. read more

A cute little Thai spot. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. I ordered the meatball and rare beef pho. It was pretty good but the broth was a little on the sweet side. The waitress asked us how spicy we want it which I thought was a little odd because Pho normally is served with no spice and then sriracha is added for spice. They need to update the menu with their prices because it said $11.95 but my pho came out to be $14.95. We also got the larb chicken as a appetizer and again a little on the sweet side from what I'm use to. Overall it was good and I would dine here again. read more

Not sure if we came in on an off day (even though we were the only ones there) but this place is just eh. We had the wonton soup and pork dumplings which were all perfectly seasoned, so we were extremely excited about the entrees. I ordered the Green Curry Noodle Soup and my husband ordered the traditional red curry over rice. Entrees came and my curry was served with rice. I told the server and he just stood there and stared at me. After an uncomfortable silence, I just pushed the plate towards him and he goes, "You said curry." I responded with "Yes, I said the Green Curry Noodle Soup." He reluctantly took the plate back to the kitchen, dumped it over a bowl of noodles, and came back. Disappointing either way. My husband's dish was just overwhelming with basil and mine was not seasoned, and it was cold curry served over cold noodles. read more

This place is amazing. I first had the drunken noodles with chicken at heat level 4. It was amazing. I wasnt sure about the bamboo since i never had it before. But apparently its great for you. It was great didnt even notice. Then came Back with my parents had it again. Also the spring rolls and crabragon both incredibly crispy not even heavy in oil. A lot of restaurants could learn from this restaurant crisp game. Parents had ginger beef and drunken noodles also they both loved. Also had the sticky rice for dessert highly recommended. I came back a 3rd time had the spicy basil chicken. Yet againg another perfect dish. Im now here for the 4th time got the spicy bangkok noodle spice level 4. I would have preferred a refund instead of "come get the rice noodles sometime" ( what good is it without soup and also not enough shrimp (4) for 15.99 . The food was good but small portions. Newer place with Thai cuisine that holds its own with the Thai restaurants in the city. Many choices and the owner will work with food allergies. Spice levels are consistent (the number your order will always taste about the same, which can be an issue at some Thai places). Just be aware that when you order takeout the orders can take a few minutes longer than the quoted time. For years I had been hoping for good Thai in Pleasant Hills and I am quite pleased with Chao Phraya. read more
