    Chana Masala
    Kelly S.

I'm not sure what I got, but it certainly wasn't Chana Masala that I'm used to. Typically, this dish is cooked in a tomato based sauce but the only sign of a tomato I saw was the slice on top. The rice, while good, also had different spices. My brother-in-law tried it and said he tasted lemongrass, which does not normally go in Indian food. We were very confused by this dish. The garlic naan was pretty good, but at $20+ for this meal, it was way overpriced and not what I expected so I don't think I will eat here again.

Chapati is already a local favorite in Indy, so I was pumped when I saw that they were opening this second location in The Garage Food Hall. Their food stand is at the far south end of the food hall and they did an amazing job with the signage. The menu is printed on a massive standing sign, which makes it really easy to read and choose your dream dish. Their team is friendly and every dish they make is amazing. This time around, I ordered a half order of butter chicken, which came with rice. The chicken was super high quality, the sauce was delicious, and they let you choose your spice level. I didn't get bread this time, but they have chapati, naan, and garlic naan to choose from. If haven't tried chapati before, it's an unleavened flatbread that's delicious and a great way to scoop up your food or dip in the sauce. So, so good. I already can't wait to come back for more. The yellow daal sounds delicious and their mango lassis are amazing as well!

The food wasn't what I was expecting, I always think that butter chicken should be very saucy with lots of extra for dipping in naan but this place did not have extra sauce. There were large random pistachios in the food and the flavors weren't as fragrant as my past Indian experiences. The garlic naan was great. The rice has a hint of cinnamon which is nice. It was a little disappointing that the man at the counter did not call out my name when the food was ready.

Yum!! It's always hard to decide what to order at The Garage, but I'm glad I chose this becuase it might have taken the spot of my top Indian restaraunt! I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, which came out hot and delicious. It was medium spice and the flavors were so good, including the spices in the rice. I also ordered some naan which was perfectly soft and warm. The portion was large, I could have easily had leftovers the next day, but my brother polished it off instead. :)

This is by far my favorite Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Indy. It's located in The Garage Food Hall. The food is fresh and made to order. They have so many amazing options to choose from. The servers are always smiling and happy to serve. I love the food hall experience and ambiance. Parking is paid.

This was my first time to The Garage, and after making the rounds and seeing everything the space has to offer, I settled on Chapati Beta. I ordered a vegetable samosa and the ginger butter chicken, spicy. The lady who took my order was extremely polite and friendly. After a short wait my food was ready, and it stayed hot while I waited for my friend to order from the Harbor and wait for her food. The samosa was the biggest samosa I've ever had! I'm glad I only ordered one (an order includes on samosa, green chutney and tamarind chutney). I love cilantro so I only used the green chutney, which was delicious. I thought my ginger butter chicken would have a stronger ginger flavour, but it was still delicious. The ratio of chicken to rice was slightly off - there was far more curry than rice, but this is just personal preference. The food came in styrofoam, with plastic utensils, I would love to see more sustainable packaging in the future. Everything was delicious, I will be back!

Overall a fantastic Indian/Pakistani restaurant. The food is made to order and takes a little time to be prepared. But the wait is well worth it. The butter chicken is incredible, best around Indy. It's very fresh, clean, and delicious. I highly recommend the naan bread, it is incredible! The service is great as well, they are always friendly. If you're looking for butter chicken, paneer, or any other Indian style food, this is the spot!

    My lackluster $18 meal awaits.

Big thumbs down for this place. I ordered the veggie biryani. It turns I got the "almost entirely rice with a tiny bit of vegetables in a small bowl" meal. I also got a bottled water. For over $18, this was an utter joke of a meal. There was also what appeared to be an olive pit (whatever it was it looked like a big seed and was hard as hell) in the meal, and fortunately I didn't choke on it or break any teeth. There are lots of other options. Skip this one.

"What's your favorite restaurant in the city?" Me: "Chapati!" Short and simple review: It's extremely inclusive of different dietary needs (they have a full side of the menu for vegan/vegetarian dishes). It's Minority-owned. It's now located even closer to my apt and office which makes it extremely dangerous. The flavors are intense - so many spices used! Tip: order then walk around the Garage. It takes about 10-15 min for your freshly made food to be prepared.

Conveniently located in the Garage Food Hall, Chapati Beta is the second location for this local business. We've had their food before at a catered event and it was excellent so we wanted to give the newest location a try. Ordered the ginger chicken and it had a lot of ginger in the dish, but not quite enough spice for my liking. Granted, you can choose the level of spiciness and I may have just underestimated what I was looking for that day. The flavors are still good and absolutely we would go back to try more dishes, but probably wouldn't get the ginger chicken again. The rice was fantastic, as was the naan.

We started with the Angry Mac & Cheese, which we had never tried before, and wow -- it was phenomenal. The homemade cheese sauce was rich, creamy, and perfectly smooth without separating. The andouille sausage and shrimp were cooked beautifully, and the cream sauce had incredible flavor with just the right subtle hint of spice. Absolutely perfect comfort food with an elevated twist. We sat outside on the patio enjoying the beautiful weather during Indy 500 race week, and the atmosphere could not have been better. Every table around us was full of people laughing, enjoying lunch, and soaking in the energy of the city. It was one of those perfect Indianapolis afternoons. For our mains, we both ordered the Cobb salad -- one with grilled chicken and one with fried chicken -- and both were outstanding. I still can't believe how large the "small" salads are! Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the homemade ranch dressing was absolutely delicious. The service, as always, was top-notch. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From start to finish, it was such a fantastic lunch and overall experience. We loved every minute of it and cannot wait to come back!

The hamburger patty was thick and juicy and cooked the way I'd prepare it myself. Portions were more than ample. After finishing my "feast" it was time for dessert, a Root Beer float, served in a tall larger glass with an ample portion of ice cream. I would suggest ordering it for two...it's that big. All enjoyed their burgers and we're looking forward to returning next year. * I purposely didn't review the other meals served, as they will be doing their own Yelp reviews.

Requesting something other than pizza and burgers is a big deal! I ordered the beef shawarma and the chicken shawarma, just so we could try both. Both looked like a burrito, which is familiar to my kids, so they went with it. We liked the beef, but the chicken shawarma was mind-blowing, and we will definitely be ordering this again. You can get the shawarma by itself or as a meal, which means it comes with fries. I also got the gyro, which comes with sliced beef and lamb, yellow rice, hummus, salad, tzatziki and pita. Because we got our food to go, the pita came separate from everything else, and I had to assemble my gyro myself like a little taco. It was delicious, but so much food! Honestly, the gyro plate can feed two people easily. Because I can't pass up a baba ganoush, I ordered a small one. They have some excellent baba ganoush at Sahara! I think this might even be my baba ganoush go-to now. Ordering online is very easy, and my food was ready to be picked up even before it was supposed to be. The only thing is that Sahara is located on the Broad Ripple strip, so parking can be iffy. I didn't find any parking in front of the restaurant, so I had to circle the block a bit before I found a spot.

The entire place is covered with the evil eye charms, so you should definitely be safe here. I highly recommend reservations because they sure get busy. And while the ambiance is great, you really cannot linger for long, as there are usually folks waiting to get a seat. The menu is quite extensive and offers plenty for carnivores and vegetarians alike. I opted for the Iskender, which is crisp pita bread pieces topped with meat slices, all of it doused in a savory tomato based sauce and topped with dollops of yoghurt. The bread has little crisp edges and together with the meat and toppings gives you like a mini sandwich in your mouth. Simply delicious. The Turkish spices bring a wonderful flavor to the dish. I highly recommend it. Hat to admit it, but I have not been too impressed with the tzaziki on previous visits. It was somewhat runny and bland, but I haven't had in a while. Street parking is limited, but in the summer there is a gravel lot on the side of the neighboring building. However when it snows, parking can be a bit of a problem, so be aware.
