I've tried a couple restaurants serving Indian cuisine here in Indy. My go-to for most flavorful spot would be Mumbai Grill. The owner is friendly, respectful and often recommends items that might appeal to you with a big smile. The inside of the restaurant, you will find a corner where meat is available for purchase from the butcher. Most people may find the open and plain interior not very welcoming but I think this is room for improvement. All in all, my favorite place to snag Indian food to go! I think I've found my new favorite Indian restaurant in Greenwood! We were looking for something new to try and landed on Mumbai Grill. It's in a strip mall not far from the interstate. Nothing fancy inside, just tables and chairs and a cashier, but you can sit down to eat as well as order to go. There are lots to choose from, but I always love chana masala so I decided to stick with that and also get a side of garlic naan. The flavors were popping! That bread was buttery and garlicky and warm. So delicious. The rice portions were very generous and we had more than enough for leftovers the next two days. Best food on the south side! We have driven through snow to get their Gobi manchurian and rice, as it never disappoints! The staff is friendly and if we do take out or dine in we usually get a little extra treat from the restaurant for free as a thank you. The food can range from spicy to really spicy but even our non Indian living friends now crave food from Mumbai Grill. We go at least once a week if possible as it is amazing. Highly recommend it for a satisfying and not too pricey option for a meal. Tonight we have several dishes ranging from biryani rice with goat to vegan gobi Manchuria. I loved the gobi as it was extra crispy and with just the right amount of sauce. Our friends had a mango lassi which came after the meal and was the perfect ending to a spicy meal. If you dine in it takes some time to get your food as they make it from scratch, but it is worth it for the home flavors and taste. I've been here twice now. The first time was bomb, have not yet eaten the 2nd meal. I'm sure it will be as good as the first. Smells amazing in here, it's just a shame that they jacked the prices up from the last time I visited. Very authentic and well visited primarily by Indian and Pakistani families. We felt very welcomed but were clearly not regular clientele. Halal food as well as a Halal meat market inside. We are often the only women in the restaurant but people are always coming and going. I get the same thing each time- Paneer Tika Masala with Naan and it never disappoints.
