Ok, so I have said this before about other establishments and now I have to say it about Chapps Burgers. Ever since covid hit 3 years ago, it has killed many one of a kind small businesses and Chapps is one of them. It could be that some owners were too scared to fully open up during covid or they listened to those ridiculous covid mandates from the Mayor of Dallas, or they lost good workers because those workers rather stay at home and make free money off of the government, either way, Chapps has lost that one thing that made their burgers unique, they lost their identity. Every since Chapps re-opened up after covid, the quality of their products have gone downhill. The quality of their buns, beef and veggies seem cheap now. That Chapps Burgers taste is not there anymore. This place used to make some of the best burgers around Grand Prairie, but now, not so much. I order from this location frequently and have never had any issues, until last night. I called in an order and my daughter picked it up. When I got my food, the fries were visibly old and cold, the finely shredded cheese was not even melted. When I called, the young lady answering the phone was rude and argued that my fries were cold because my order wasn't picked up timely... When I returned to the restaurant the young girl at the register continued to argue that the fries were hot when the order was ready, but couldn't explain then why the cheese wasn't melted... She offered to remake my order and refund me, she went into the kitchen and stayed then came back with fries. I never received a refund. We've been slowly eating our way around the DFW burger options, and Chapp's burger was just okay. They are basically selling size here, with a half pound Nolan Ryan Beef patty. There was beefy flavor, but in need of seasoning, and there was no juiciness, no greasy goodness. Patty was like a hockey puck, overcooked until well done (they didn't ask). Very chewy with a chewy bun which made it worse. Plus bun flavor was a bit too strong. Grilled onions and American cheese added some to it, but not enough of each. Cook time also ran a little long, but at least it was fresh. It's a fast casual spot so drinks are self-serve. Dining room has zero character. But I am grateful for the offer. Furthermore, if the owner of a business reaches out and wants another chance to get it right, I usually accommodate the request. In this case, I was glad I did. My mushroom w/Swiss burger was hot, it was delivered quickly and was prepared exactly as ordered. Chapp's wait reminds me of the time I got stuck in the elevator for 3 hours. The TV set inside is probably older than my great grandfather, and I was inside this restaurant so long my weird friend was able to tell me his entire life story. No smiles, no greetings, just mediocre. Menu items are individual, there is no combos, so you pay for each item individually. The total I pay is about $15 per person, getting two burgers, two drinks , two fries which is a little above average for burgers plus the tax. Is it worth it though? I'd say yeah if you come once in a while to enjoy a good burger :) Went there a couple weeks ago and the AC was either off or not working. It was 93+ degrees outside and there was no sign advising customers that it was gonna be hot in there, the only thing they had ON was the ceiling fans. I go here often for lunch. This place just got a makeover, with new flooring and tables and chairs. It is very nice and open and clean inside. I didn't see if the bathrooms were updated. The food is always so yummy. A great (turkey) burger and grilled chicken salad. They have great french-fries also, with your choice of seasoned or plain jane. The Nolan Ryan beef was good! tbh I didn't know what was so special about it at first, but you can definitely tell the difference between their meat patty to other big chain restaurants beef after you eat it. Along with my burger I had a huge amount of cajun fries, which were amazing as well. Perfect amount of spice. I was so full but I couldn't let my burger go to waste!! I had to finish it, ITS THAT GOOD. As for my significant other, he got the chili hotdog (which reminds me of sonic) nothing too special. Having worked in the area for two different companies over a period of almost six years, I've probably been to Chapps a hundred different times with a hundred different people. I've never known one to complain, unless it was to say something like "OMG, their burger is entirely too large." Which isn't really the kind of complaint one should take seriously. Chapps, originally, was a family run hamburger joint started in an abandoned Arlington diner in the 80s. Now it's several hamburger joints in and around Arlington, and most of them are still family run, although I think the name is just licensed out to other owners at a few locations. The big draw here is hamburgers. I think they are 1/3 lb burgers with a Baby Burger in the 1/4 lb range. They come with a variety of toppings like bacon, cheese, etc, etc, And there's also chicken. Cajun chicken. Hickory smoked chicken. And then you just get into the outlandish stuff, like chicken fried steak sandwich or a Big Dog which I'm pretty sure is about the diameter of a young child's forearm. And there are fresh cut fries and onion rings and pies which may or may not be fresh. But, really, you're coming here for a big beefy burger or a savory chicken breast slapped onto some bread with an assortment of vegetables and condiments. And you can't find a reason to complain about either of those things. You get a filling meal with a drink for around $8 and get to go home feeling like you've done your best to contribute to a coronary later in life. No fast food burger can come close to competing with this. read more

I have to say I really didn't like the cheese fries. I believe the fries are really good on their on but seem like the cheese was just slapped on. The Burger I can say is one of the best burgers I've had. You can tell that it's a good quality of meat and to add sautéed onion on top of that- are you crazy try it. It's not a big joint but durable. Once you order they bring your food to you at your table. The drinks you get yourself at the fountain machine. I believe it's sweet and unsweetened tea there also- don't hold me to it though. The service is cool. The decor is nice and clean. It's two restrooms- man/ woman or boy/girl. Go ahead and skip this one. The burger patties are relatively dry and flavorless. The fries are soft and overcooked at the same time. I bit into a toothpick because, apparently, when you order a double patty they put a toothpick in the middle of your burger. And the toothpick has plastic on it that will come off into your food. Very different than they used to be. Burgers have little seasoning or taste. Everything in the burger was drowning in grease. The bun was nice. Burgers were pretty overdone and you could feel the dark spots as you bit into the burger. Did not get the fries so I cannot comment but the burger was not worth the approximately $10 paid. This type of food may be for some but It isn't for me sadly. I like to save my burger splurges for a really good, tasty burger with quality meat - this one met all the reqs. Very tasty and my hubby agreed as well - I got the cheeseburger and he got the mushroom burger. I will agree that the prices are a bit steep but this quality of meat isn't going to be priced the same as a fast food joint so perhaps that has something to do with it. With that said, two burgers, both with fries and drinks came to $17 and some change. All burgers are 1/2-pounders too. Service was nice, decor was dated but clean and comfortable.
