Date of Visit: Thursday, January 23, 2025. The restaurant opened at 11am, and I arrived about 11:10am. I ordered a hamburger, chili dog, onion rings and a root beer float. I give the onion rings 1 star because they were awful. I believe the onion rings were left over from the night before. They were hard...and tasted like grease/oil. The root beer float was not good either...the "soda" didn't even taste like root beer and the vanilla ice cream was bland. It definitely wasn't Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. The hamburger was delicious, and the chili dog was good. I may return and order the onion rings later in the day...hopefully they'll be fresh. read more

I'm a local, grew up here in Grand Prairie. Took my family for some nostalgia to Theo's Drive-In. The soda mix was off, so my daughter returned it. The burgers and fries were acceptable but not exceptional. I asked the waitress if I was charged for the soda my daughter sent back. She said "yes", I asked "why if we sent it back", she said "because you ordered it". Again, poor service, the lady at the booth told her to remove it from the check. I give this burger a slight edge over Kellers since the meat was better, but its a dollar more here and its a single patty. All their sides are standard fare drive through stuff, if you had to choose frys or onion rings, id go with frys. Dr Pepper Float was majority soda, but i was not gonna complain since i was thirsty. Really an unassuming place that you could easily miss if you're not looking for it. Apparently they've been closed because of the pandemic and really just opened back up. The food was pretty good, better than fast food but not amazing. 3/5 The service was friendly for the most part. Absolutely awful from the second we walked in. No one greeted us. In fact, they acted bothered when they had to get up from the booth while talking to their friends, in order to seat us. The burger was a frozen patty, which could be fine if they'd spruced it up a bit. But it had no flavor. Raw onion, when I know there's a grill back there to sauté them. Bun wasn't even toasted, but looked like it just came straight out of the bag. Fries were the best part and they weren't much better. This was a place that we passed up. As we passed it...i yelped it. There were only a handful of reviews...but they made me curious. The place is not flashy, new, or upscale. It's just a place. The outside made me think it might be closed. We pulled up and walked inside the restaurant where the waitress was waiting with two menus. She was pleasant and happy to seat us. The inside is old, but I equate it to bring at your grandma's house. The place is aged but clean. As we we ordered the prices were low and very reasonable. My cheeeseburger was 3.50 and onion rings were like 2.50. The food came and we were checked on enough. The restaurant reminded me of mel' s diner. The food was good and simple. Was treated here after helping my cousin move a 1 bedroom apartment across town! We were hungry and tried the cheeseburgers, onion rings, chili cheese hot dogs, and shakes. Old fashioned burgers were great. My favorite was the dog and rings. All of us liked the shakes (mine was cherry), but they were very small served in thin plastic cups. I asked if they used cheese sauce on the dogs, like sadly Sonic does nowadays, and was told no...they do what they do with anything you order with cheese...they plop a slice of American cheese on it. Ya know what, talk crap all ya want, I love American cheese, so bring it on. Food comes out, simple burger, fresh vegs, the obligatory pre-made thin'ish type patty, some freshly grilled bacon...and oh yes, American cheese. Dog had chili, THE cheese, and mustard and onions are requested. Like the way it was grilled, not boiled. The burger was good, the dog was good, the fries were frozen, so the only bummer of the meal, but they weren't bad, just the usual frozen fare. I think everything, with a drink was about $11 plus tip, but the dog was about $3 of that and I NORMALLY wouldn't get this much food. The boy had a double meat/cheese which took him more than his normal 3 bites to finish. Normally he is still hungry but this burger along with his FF and shake filled him up. The girl and i opted for bacon cheese burgers she had FF I opted for Onion Rings. Both were tasty and satisfying. Rings had a nice crunch and thick batter. The kids both had shakes that were great. This is an old school drive-in & it was well worth the drive to Grand Prairie! Our car hop was super nice & helpful. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger, fries, a steak sandwich & onion rings plus a coke for just under $20. I was expecting a sliced steak sandwich but it was actually a fried steak sandwich on a bun- it was tasty, nothing fancy. My favorite thing was the onion rings- they were extra crispy the way I like them, seems like maybe they are double fried.
