This is a small locally owned business that is worth trying if you appreciate quality tea. It's a small shop and there are some parking spots out front or you can easily find street parking. I got the Phoenix oolong milk tea with the mochi boba and tried sips of the barley black tea. What I loved most is that each drink is made to order using their teaspresso machine. You can tell the guy working really cared about making each drink the best it can be and he was super nice too. Our drinks were quickly made and tasted incredible. The oolong had lovely floral notes and the mochi boba was delicious with the perfect bouncy chew. I also enjoyed the flavor of the barley tea! I would definitely recommend coming here for a little pick-me-up or post-dinner treat.

First time visiting, found them through the SGV boba passport. Clean, small shop; quick, friendly service with a few indoor seats and several patio tables outside. They use high grade tea leaves and you can smell the leaves before choosing and they use specialized equipment to extract flavors from the leaves. I really enjoyed their jasmine milk green tea and the mango fruit tea. You can really taste the tea in both drinks, it did not taste watered down. The boba was equally delicious, I've never had mochi boba. It was sweet, soft and chewy and it went well with the drinks. I will definitely return to try more items on the menu.

Wasn't impressed at all. Ordered two gyokuro milk teas with honey boba (less ice and 50% sweet) and a mango slush with honey boba but heard the employees talking to one another about how there was only enough honey boba for two more drinks. I inquired about it and they said I'd have to pick a different topping so I went with the agar boba. Apparently they did not give us honey boba. I was staring at it up close since it looked so different so they asked if something was wrong. I thought maybe it was because it was the last of the previous batch that it looked so soft and mishapen. Since July 4th they've been switching to mochi honey boba instead because of popularity/increased demand. They said it was a real hit on July 4th weekend. The mochi boba had a lovely texture and flavor but definitely could have used more haha. They had to boil a whole new batch. Agar boba was fine but I was super disappointed that I didn't get boba because that's what I actually wanted. The shop was quiet with nobody else inside besides my cousin and kid and I. The gyokuro was pretty bitter (as if it was steeped too long. Maybe it was just matcha and bitter? But I thought gyokuro was just tea leaves?) and not sweet at all. I couldn't finish it because of how bitter it was. I kept it in the fridge and drank it next day and it mellowed out significantly. The mango slush was honey boba was pretty good. They recommended it with lychee jelly but my 5 year old was not interested haha. I think I'm spoiled after having torotea because it is such an amazing experience from start to finish and every flavor is absolutely delicious and perfect. Chapresso is overrated and fine when you don't wanna wait for torotea. You probably just need to order the right thing and for them to have boba when you want it. If I ever go back I'd try one of the iron goddess oolong or one of their matcha drinks.

Each order is made to brew! Really enjoyed their tea selection and I always get the phoenix MT and/or iron goddess MT. For a regular they charge roughly $6/7, which is standard pricing nowadays. Opt for the phoenix if you enjoy more of a honey note at the end. Parking is on the street but easy to get in and out even with ongoing traffic.

Gyokuro milk tea was really weird and didn't taste like gyokuro

I don't know if I went on a really off day, but I can't remember the last time I had a milk tea so off-putting it went straight in the trash. I was so excited for the gyokuro milk tea because gyokuro is probably my favorite tea, and I can't quite describe what the gyokuro here tasted like. I can say, however, it didn't taste anything like gyokuro. It was weirdly floral, not quite jasmine-like floral, and had a weird and honestly kind of gross flavor I guess is a way to put it. It completely lacked the fresh buttery greens quality of real gyokuro. The jasmine was okay. I gave up on the hojicha without even trying it after everyone else wound up not liking their teas either (they didn't dislike it as much as I did with the gyokuro, it just wasn't great). Reviews seem positive for this place so I dunno what was up with our drinks. While the tea flavor, at least for the jasmine, was strong, it was so strong it tasted almost artificial (compared to similar tea-forward places).

5/19/26 Okay, I'm not much of a tea drinker but I like matcha for all its health benefits & its earthiness, this place has my seal of approval:-) Just driving around San Marino looking for a coffee shop near 5 pm--not much luck. This place popped up & doesn't close til 8 pm- cool!! There just 2 seats indoors with a "bar" table and a bench to park your behind while waiting for your drink. There's no restroom. The outdoor patio is spacious but it shares it with 2 other businesses (Dumpling Bar & Mari Vees). Staff is trite, professional, competent but not overly friendly. He made my drink as requested-iced matcha latte with oat milk, less ice, 75% sweet level, one of the best so far, nothing fancy, just good, quality matcha. I'm likely to return if ever in the area, and that's me not big on tea lol \(*0*)/

wow this might be one of my new favorite boba spots! Came to try Chapresso and the tea quality really shines in all their drinks! I tried their matcha latte with 2% milk (they offer oat milk too) at 70% sweet and a gyokuro milk tea at 70% sweet with lychee jelly and both were very very good! The teas were fragrant and yummy and perfectly not too sweet! They have a few seats inside but it's very limited - they've been around for about 2 years and I hope they get a lot more love soon! Service is very fast and friendly

I had an adequate experience at Chapresso (San Marino). I ordered the Mango Matcha Latte ($8.50 - 16oz - 75% Sugar). It's earthy, gritty, and tastes like mango cereal milk. It reminds me of liquid mango candy. I arrived at Chapresso (San Marino) on Sunday (around 12:15PM). Parking is a little challenging. There's no lot, so I used street parking. It's a brief couple minute walk. Customers can order at a self-service kiosk or counter. Staff is polite. Staff kindly answered all my questions. My drink took one minute and 52 seconds. Fast! As mentioned, I ordered the Mango Matcha Latte ($8.50 - 16oz - 75% Sugar). It's not bad, and it's thirst quenching. The drink made me think of candy mango and something a little gritty. On ambiance, Chapresso (San Marino) is very tiny and cramped. There's one small counter and a bench. There's also three assigned tables at front. The floors looked like they needed a quick sweep, but the air felt clean. I also enjoyed the slow-paced music. The location is very dimly lit though, so it all felt a little melancholy. Fortunately there's a little bit of utility at Chapresso (San Marino). There's one available electrical outlet. And there's customer internet with password; customers must ask staff for the details. However; this small location doesn't have a restroom. Overall, Chapresso (San Marino) is not bad. I didn't hate my beverage, and staff is friendly. If already nearby, I can lightly recommend. 3.9 out of 5

I came to try this spot since a fellow acquaintance said it was yummy. Parking is ample for street parking. There's outdoor seating which is nice. You can order via kiosk or at the counter. Staff were friendly & open to questions. I went with the matcha Einspanner which was a 10/10. I was able to customize my drinks as well for sweetness/ice. I decided to try their ice matcha latte and matcha Einspanner. I tried getting the coffee version but it ended up being matcha which was fine since it was good either way. The offer 2% milk or oat milk. Definitely going to come back to try their teas. Now that i know where its located at. First time trying this place and parked a little far because it looked like there was alot of cars in the front. As we werw looking for it someone asked if we were going to chapresso. Howd he know. But we came on a lucky day. Turbo tax had a little event going on and they were giving free chapresso vouchers, fidget spinner, tote bags and ice packs.

The Matcha is made fresh, and the Matcha latte was pretty good for what it is. The service was fairly fast, just expect one person to be working in the front. So that person is either tending to the orders come or taking the orders. The vibe of the overall shop is chill, but you're really here to grab and go, so you're not really hanging out within the shop. It is located a cute spot in San Marino, you can opt to park in the front, or around sides.

street parking available depending when you go! the place is a bit smaller but they have outdoor seating. very cute and clean inside. they have a pretty solid menu with different options. the staff was very helpful in explaining the differences. i got the genmaicha einspanner and you can really taste the puffed rice in the drink. i liked it but my bf didn't. the strawberry matcha was good but the strawberry just tastes like jam. the oolong milk tea was really good! very fragrant and floral. i also got a mango green tea but it was a bit cloudy and bitter in my opinion. maybe it got cloudy from the mango they use but would highly recommend the oolongs they have and the matcha! can't wait to come back and try the hojicha

Ok so my daughter and I decided to stop by to try out chapresso today and I must say I'm very impressed. We ordered from the kiosk it's a bit tricky with the sweetness level since they don't really put % it's just 1,2,3,4(100%) and 5 so my daughter and I picked 5 thinking it's 50% after ordering and realizing we got it wrong from looking at the menu board we decided to ask the worker and after explaining it to us we realized it was our mistake lol should've known when it say 4(100%) then 5 should be more then 100% which makes it 125% after expressing our mistake the worker was so nice he said if we don't like it they can adjust it to our likening but surprising it wasn't overly sweet! Still able to taste the tea and milk. So definitely happy with our choice. But now we know we coming back and getting 3 for sweetness level lolz but the taste of our drink is so smooth and light nothing like any other boba shop we tried. So this has gotta be our number 1 pick. Inside is clean and small have a few bar stool seatings by window but most seatings is outside. read more

I seldom write reviews but when I do, it is not done out of impulse or are immediate but are written after deliberate consideration and after I've had some time to reflect in order to truly give a fair review. I have visited Chapresso numerous times now and I have tried only their "hot teas" which is my drink of choice. I have tasted each and every one of their teas from the most popular Phoenix oolong, the Iron Goddess to the barley black tea (just to name a few). My go to drink now at Chapresso is the hot iron goddess milk tea. It has a very distinct and earthy taste and I guess because each cup is specially brewed to order, the flavor comes alive. It may take a bit longer to get your drink, but it is very well worth the wait since each drink is brewed to order by an "espresso" machine! I have to compliment Shawn (the owner) and his team for making my drink special each time. They even insist they will redo my drink if I am not satisfied. Now, that is true customer service! I am also enticed by their small array of pastries they offer. I have only tried their almond croissant and coffee cake which I often enjoy with my hot tea. After having read many of the other reviews about lack of seating area, it is true they do not have any indoor seating but just a seating area inside while you wait for your order. They have several patio tables out in the courtyard and because I am fortunate to be living in beautiful Southern California, I am enjoying my tea, my pastry in this lovely weather we are having outside. If you've been contemplating coming to Chapresso, don't think twice. There's ample parking on Huntington, great service but most of all, come for their drinks! read more

Came in the next day after speaking to the owner Shawn. :) He was a super nice and kind when it came to making sure we were 100% satisfied. I really appreciate that he took the time to also speak to us in person. The drink i ordered was a phoenix oolong but it turns out that the iron goddess will give you a stronger tea taste. I really liked how there was no bitter taste in the tea also. Perfectly steeped. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to my friends. Finally, a quality tea place around the area :). They have samples of tea you can smell for reference, ordered Iron Goddess Oolong Milk Tea with light ice, I think you get your money's worth here instead of 40% ice with other shops. Tried the phoenix oolong MT, barley MT, strawberry fruit tea and blueberry fruit tea. Fruit teas were great for kids as there was no caffeine. Loved the flavor of the oolong and barley MT. I generally do not like barley tea, but the owner said that was one of their signature teas so I tried it. Changed my mind on barley tea. The owner was also very nice as he was taking everyone's order despite the number of people and how busy they were. read more

Some of the best teas in 626, the teapresso machine they got really works. The tea definitely is good quality and fragrant. The boba itself is not quite as impressive, the consistency can definitely improve, sometimes it tastes like it was overcooked and when drink prices are as high as this, it's hard to let go. The matcha size is TINY if you are thinking about getting that, not sure if it's worth. Overall I would say it is nice and more premium than most other boba spots, but not quite as luxurious as chi cha san chen. More on par with another popular boba spot in irvine that sounds like it has bay in the name, but so far seems like management here is opposite of that place(which is a fantastic thing, can't get into too much detail otherwise yelp will censor my review) read more

This place was great! If you are familiar with Orobae in the OC, I would recommend this place as a 626 substitute. The familiar menu names drew my attention to this place. Due to the temporary closure of Orobae, I needed to find my fix. Mobile order was ready upon estimated time pickup, and the owner (i think) was very kind and told us to let him know if we needed any adjustments. We didn't try our drinks til we walked out, and the owner came outside just to make sure everything was great. I got the Jasmine Pekoe MT and the Gyroko MT both with boba. Their boba was alright (I think the batch I got was near expiring). I prefer my drinks sweeter and more creamy, but I think this place is excellent if you're looking for a "not too sweet" type of drink + heavy on the tea flavor. Even at 100% sweetness, I could've opted for 125% which I never do, wish there was an option to do extra creamy as well. Overall great service, atmosphere, and drinks ! read more

Drinks here have good tea aroma smell and taste in it. I tried a few different ones and love all their milk series especially the barley one. staff are super nice with excellent services. parking is easy, at least those times that I've been there. I like that they are also on toast app to order ahead of time. Happy to have such a yummy new tea spot. read more

The first time I tried this bobascrumptious, bobatastic, and bobaliscious iron goddess oolong milk tea from chapresso it changed my life. The drink was a perfect amount of sweet and refreshing. The flavors of the magical drink combined together along with the chewy boba truly made me feel like a goddess. The drink was made by the one and only Jason and he prepared this specialty drink with love and care. Finally tried this place and glad I did! Yes, there are tons of boba places within a 5 mile radius, but this one stands out. Tea is brewed to order, they don't go overboard on sweetness (50% was spot on here - most places I find that level still too sweet). Also thier sizes are not overboard, which I find refreshing - sorry folks, but a 40+ oz serving of a boba tea is simply insane (and packs a crazy amount of kcal!). The regular size here is just right. Definitely will be back! read more

We are so glad Chapresso opened in San Marino! In an area with so many boba shops, Chapresso really stands out -- its boba has the best consistency of any boba we've tried in LA and the tea is delicious. The inside is super nice/clean, there's plenty of outdoor seating, and parking is easy on Huntington. We can't wait to go back and try more drinks and their pastries. read more

Went here for the soft opening and once more after their grand opening. I ordered both the Phoenix and the Jasmine Milk Tea at 75% sweetness with boba. I would say that the drinks are okay. They're missing a prominent tea flavor in my opinion, and are on a more watery and milky side. I'm not too sure how to describe the taste but it's almost like a watery milk with just a bit of the tea flavor. The boba is great, but the actual milk tea was nothing great. I really wanted to like the drinks because you can tell the owners/staff are super sweet and caring and seem to really care about the quality of the drinks, but they weren't the best. I hope this is a really easy fix for the owners because I would love to continue to support! read more

Love love love their gyokuro hot milk tea with boba. Floral tea scent with non dairy cream and soft chewy boba. I could taste the tea instead of just sugary water like most boba place. Good customer service as well. I had accidentally ordered a hot tea instead of a milk tea through the kiosk. The lady corrected my order, made me what I wanted, and tossed the hot tea. read more

Paying almost 8 dollars for a specialty tea wasn't a great feeling, but they had an atmosphere and quality that offset it for the most part. Now, they expect you to pay 10 dollars for some of those exact same drinks. The most recent menu price update for august brought some items up to 9.85 pre-tax. That doesn't even include the dollar extra for their specialty tapiochi. You can't even modify the sweetness or dairy on some! Seriously? How in the world can little more than a single year of being open warrant that kind of price increase? You can't even pull the quality card at that point because you can get high quality ceremonial matcha with specialty housemade syrups, toppings, or foam/cream caps at plenty of other places these days and that's typically in the 7 dollar range, which is, again, not a fun number to pay for a drink. For these prices, I ought to see the receipts on some kind of hyper-local sourced fruits and dairy, specialty fair+ free trade small batch organic tea where we know the farmer's name and when it was harvested. (These aren't even unreasonable asks, you can purchase imported matcha and tea in the US with this level of transparency). It feels more like a hype traffic price increase rooted in greed than anything else. That kind of anti-consumer move doesn't win loyalty, it wins you one trip and an instagram photo and an "it was good, but not worth what I paid." Which is how I felt the last time I ordered the matcha einspanner, which was more bitter than I'd expect and not even smoothly whisked to eliminate graininess. Congrats on your profit margins though, I guess. Your workers make minimum wage and the website says the owner is (was?) a medical doctor. That says something, doesn't it.

I couldn't believe how high they fill the cups up when you get a smoothie. I was laughing carrying it back to the car. The boba was cooked well, but it did lack that brown sugar flavor- just tasted plain, but it wasn't bad. I'd come again if I'm ever in the area.

I didn't like it because it's overly floral and it has the rice. Maybe I misread about the rice? But even so, the drink doesn't taste like a cloud latte. I got 50% sweetness and it tastes more like 75%. I think it's because the fermented rice is already sweetened. Service was good, I ordered ahead and picked up with no issues. The inside has some seating if you want to enjoy your drink inside. Outside, there are also some tables and benches if you prefer. Overall, the drink prices are pretty standard in today's market I'd say. The other drinks I've tried before include the osmanthus rice drink, black sesame slushy, mango pomelo, and the taro milk. Of the ones I have tried, maybe only the mango pomelo one is good. The rest are just okay. Unsure if I'd come back because there are other mango pomelo drinks out there that are better.

I also especially love their popping barley topping. It's a unique spin to the traditional boba. It's refreshing a fun to eat. We also got their walnut custard cake, which was a nice treat. They are slightly crispy on the outside, yet pleasantly moist on the inside. The custard inside added just the right about of sweetness. To finish each mini cake off, each contain bits of actual walnuts on the inside, which really made this dessert well worth it. The only reason I am knocking off a star is because of their staff. They were not very friendly or communicative. The majority of the time, they really tried to avoid making eye contact with the customers. This makes the experience feel awkward and unwelcoming.

The soup wasn't really my taste, but it did taste warm and nourishing. I got the Daily Combo Special which comes with an Omelet Curry Rice, Tonkatsu or Chicken Katsu and an iced lemon tea or soda. It also comes with a side salad. The katsu itself was decent, but the omelet egg is not seasoned at all. It really needs to curry sauce to go with it. Overall, not bad. Probably closer to 3.5 stars?

Seriously, you all need to try Chapresso. I grew up in the 626, and am slightly embarrassed to say I used to drink boba almost every day. That is to say, I've tried my fair share of boba shops and I can pretty confidently say what is good or bad. I would say that Chapresso is of superior quality. They brew your tea right in front of you, so you know what you are getting is fresh and made just for you. The tea flavor is much stronger than other places, where I literally just taste a hint of tea and way too much sugar. Everything is customizable, and they always brew a certain amount so I know I'm not being cheated out of any drink when I get regular ice! (They also don't fill the whole cup with ice like other places, thank goodness.) I first tried the Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea, which was kind of on the light-medium side, with a floral hint to it. I got it with boba, but for the first time I kind of wish I didn't, because the tea by itself was just so high quality and delicious that the boba was distracting me from it!! Additionally, I got a Barley Black Tea, no milk. I've honestly never in my life ordered straight tea from a boba shop by itself, like w/ no fruit or milk, so I was nervous to try but the sample smelled so good. Glad to report, it might be my new favorite drink! The tea was very concentrated, not watered down, and good to drink even the next day. The Barley is so unique, it is rich and has a warm kind of feeling to it (?). You must try, the owner said it is one of their recommended teas. But, the cherry on top was the service. All the employees genuinely seem like they care, answered my questions about the teas, brought my drinks out to me even though I was outside, and even took my trash! I don't even get that kind of service at a 5 star hotel anymore!! My family needed to visit this area frequently and we have been having our bobas more than a few times. We absolutely like their freshly brewed milk boba tea. My absolute favorite is the Phoenix oolong milk tea with lychee jelly (zero sweet, Extra ice) because I enjoy the lighter side of tea flavor such as green tea or oolong tea. With Phoenix oolong milk tea, I can definitely still taste a very strong, solid tea taste. However, my husband and daughter thought my Phoenix oolong milk tea didn't have a tea flavor. They really like Barley Black Tea & the Iron Goddess Oolong milk tea for enjoying a bold, earthy tea scent (Much stronger tea flavor) with honey boba. Yes, we figured out own favorite boba tea from the owners' recommendation and became experts about their menu. Since the taste of boba tea comes down to individual tastes, so even though we are from one family, we each have own Chapresso tea we like. We would like to thank Chapresso for the service provided by their friendly staff who satisfy the tastes of each member of our family. We can't wait to stop by next week! read more

We ordered the Phoenix Oolong Milk tea, Barley Black Milk Tea, Gyokuro Green Milk tea, and Ceylon Black milk tea~ I only tried the first two and enjoyed the phoenix oolong milk tea the most! I can't say enough good things about this boba shop! The staff always greet me when I enter. While the interior is small, the drinks definitely make up for it. As someone who prefers less sweetness, I found that choosing a sweetness level of 2 was just right for me. I stopped at least once a week and I now enjoyed Barley Black Milk Tea with honey boba (with 25% sweetness, regular ice level. Boba had the right texture and was able to taste Barley Black tea flavor strongly. Josh was so kind and friendly. I like their clean bright indoor decor. Defiantly going back soon. read more
