This is an amazing restaurant; more of what you would find in a big city like Seattle, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas. Really great ambiance, excellent food, and the pastries are out of this world. Not a greasy spoon at all like some of the places around here. There is a really nice outdoor eating area also. I just wish they had more restaurants like this in Spokane. If you hope to enjoy coffee here, be prepared for a disappointing experience. An inattentive server will direct you to sit, disregarding any request to avoid the bar area. If you decline, you'll be told to leave the line and wait again for a table. I eventually decided to take my pastries home instead. Unfortunately, even ordering to-go was a hassle. Rather than placing my items in the box immediately, the cashier kept asking, "What else?" as I continued to order. Then, while she was distracted, another employee took a few of my pastries to serve another customer. When I pointed out that I'd ordered it first, I was told that those customers had been ahead of me in line. The service felt rude and indifferent; unfortunately, it's been this way every time I've visited. Finally came here for a Sunday brunch and I can't believe I waited so long. There was a line of about 15-20 people when we arrived, but it moved at a decent pace. Sunday Morning, 10 am, lined up to the parking lot. 1 hour later. We get seated upstairs at table 30 . There was two other families up there also. They had babies and young kids. Finally, after years of listening to my friend's enthusiastic praise for the Maple Scone, I had the opportunity to taste it for myself. The Slightly Curly Fries are also incredibly impressive. Based on our one dining experience - the service people were polite and efficient, the outdoor seating is charming (it was too cold to sit out there, though), and the food was excellent (you need to order at the counter and get your table number there, as well). The first time I went I was overwhelmed with options and knew I'd have to come back. Today was the lucky day with family in town. My kids had the Belgian waffle and loved the toppings. I had the scramble which was something I should have shared as it was a lot of food. The biscuits for the gravy are hands down the best biscuit I've ever had. They reminded me of the focaccia bread from Maple Street Bistro panini's. Buttery, so flavorful, absolutely fantastic. Husband and son got the Monte cristo which is heavenly as well. Portion sizes are very generous, prices fair, great staff busting their butts on service. Looking forward to going back to try their sweet treats. After hearing about Chaps for months, we finally made our way over to Cheney to try it out. We heard about the oatmeal being a must try and you could say we were skeptical at the least. Oatmeal.. really? After giving it a shot this summed it up for us: If you like oatmeal, you'll love it. If you don't like oatmeal, you'll love it. If you've never had oatmeal before, it will change your life. It had us wondering if it was the best oatmeal we'd ever had. It was. Then we wondered if it was the best breakfast dish we'd ever tried. I stumbled upon Chaps Coffee the last time that I was in Spokane two years ago. This year Becky was with me visiting my parents. They live about five minutes away from Chaps. Chaps was the perfect spot and the perfect distance to sneak away to grab a quick beer. Also Yokes market is right next door which doubles Chap's convenience. We made it to Chaps a couple of times to relax and enjoy a couple of pints of Manny's Pale Ale. We really liked Chaps. Becky was disappointed that we didn't have an opportunity to have a meal, the menu looked great. She remembers my ravings about the meatloaf sandwich that I had in 2018. Chaps is a very unique restaurant. It has an old-school farmhouse look and feel to it. A casual rural, woodsy vibe to it. The staff were all extremely friendly as were our fellow diners. Friendly people seems to be a theme in Spokane. I had to dock a star as we were told that due to COVID there was no sitting at the bar. We waited in line to order, then were assigned a seat. Unfortunately it was quite warm, and we were seated on the patio in direct sunlight. I live in California but I used to go to school in Spokane. Went back to visit and I had never heard or been to this place until recently. I'm telling you this is the best breakfast/brunch place I've ever been to. Cozy atmosphere especially during the fall months. They got outdoor seating area as well but that's closed during the fall winter I believe. I recommend you get there earlier in the morning because it gets busy (for a good reason). You put your order in at the cashiers before you go to your table. They have a rack of delicious pastries behind the register that look straight from France. I got a plain croissant and my gf got a maple scone. Super flaky and buttery and the layers were amazing on the croissant. Her scone was to die for. Best one I've ever had and I wish I had gotten a croissant and a scone. I got the chaps scramble which is biscuits and gravy with a egg scramble with some protein and hash browns. I'm always a little skeptical when I eat at restaurants in Spokane, but this place really changed my mind. It's a corner place in a strip all, and it's like a hidden gem. I was a little worried when I arrived, because the line was really long. When I say long, I'm talking easily 40-50 people. I took this as a sign that this place must be good enough for people to wait almost 45 minutes in line to place an order. You order at the counter, you are assigned a number, and then food gets brought out to you. Menus are passed out while you wait, so that way you know what you want by the time you get to the register. It's the same line whether you want food, a pastry, or coffee. My recommendation is to have two separate lines, because I thought to order a chai for the road but didn't want to wait in the line again. I was able to order my meal with gluten free bread. The omelette was cooked perfectly, and I thought the vegetables were cooked perfectly as well. It was a nice size! I enjoyed the potatoes, and there was a lot more hidden under the toast and omelette. I was a little skeptical due to the price, but you definitely get a lot of food for your money. What a great place to take a family member who lives out of town right before a flight this is on your way. It's got that corky sweet charm throughout. As you can tell in my photos I went crazy trying to capture all the details in this place. I needed a new breakfast place to come to so I decided to try it the things on the menu that looks good to me for mother was the oatmeal and breakfast quesadilla unfortunately both of those items were not available when I came here I was super bummed because I was ecstatic to try the oatmeal much too it's raving reviews. What I learned is oatmeal is only on Friday Saturday and Sundays now because the process takes a long time. And since they didn't have the breakfast quesadilla I got the breakfast skillet minus the chorizo. And I got the avocado toast and unfortunately I couldn't pass up all the yummy carbs so I did get the maple scone which was amazing. What a wonderful place to have breakfast! We drive around 10 minutes to get there and found a beautiful place that has the ambience if an old farmhouse with beautiful decorations and gardens. People line up to order and they get your table ready for inside or outside dining. The smell as you enter is unbelievably delicious. They were very helpful to get me pastries to go.
