Been coming here since the original was in Newbury Park. Hands down the best breakfast burrito I have ever had in my life. The way the do it and the ratios the have one everything make it absolutely worth it. I've yet to have a breakfast burrito as good from anywhere else. All other menu items are great as well but the fact that they have such a great breakfast burrito is the primary reason I keep coming back. I went today, for the first time in four years of my residency here to support our local business owners. I am a person who believes that those who are in the restaurant should have priory over those on the phone, not only out of respect for taking the time to actually drive there, but because owners or employees should know that first impressions matter. When I entered, a lady was placing some work related items away. She did not say hi or welcomed me. As I approached the counter the phone rang and without an excuse, she spent about 10 minutes taking an order on the phone. When she finally hung up, she did not say a word, other than just look at me. I proceeded by giving her my order, given the prices on a tuna sandwich, I though it would come with fries. When I asked and added the extras the tuna with fries would have been close to 12 dollars. I politely let her know that was a bit much, given is close to a college. I am not hurting for money, I would have paid this time just to try their food, but her reaction of shrugging her shoulders and prioritizing phone orders was a turn off. I left. Too bad read more

Went to this place because of the good reviews on Yelp. Food was good to ok. Our group got burgers, fries, gyro, and a Phil Cheese all with fries. Burgers were generic, Phil cheese was big but just ok, and the gyro was again just ok. Place felt old, tired and dirty when you came in. Wish i could give this establishment 0 stars. The customer service was terrible, my total came out to be $18.91 and i only had $17 cash. I then asked if they gave student discounts because i go to the college across the street and they just said no and looked disappointed.. nbd i said i'll just pay the difference in my card of what i didn't have in cash and the lady complains about the hassle for having to take the fucking dollar and 81 cents. i honestly wasn't going to even write this review until when i went around the counter to pour my drink i was disgusted to see that the all of the products were being prepped by an employee not wearing any gloves or using any utensils.. won't be back and i wish i never came i'm the first place. read more

If you're looking for a little mom/pop diner with a touch of college life then this is a good place to start. When you walk in the feeling is that it's small-but it's really not. Though the table by the soda machine is awkward placement. The prices are little high, but if you're used to spending $8-$10 for a burger combo at your usual fast food, then you won't notice. The 1/4lb. burger is HUGE! but they should definitely cutback on the lettuce. Most places like this put a bunch of lettuce on their burgers, and while it helps to fill you up, when the burger is big it also prevents you from finishing it. I'm not spending $8-$10 for a combo that I can't finish. The fries also needed salt, but are a excellent size and amount. Though I've never been a fan of placing fries on the bottom of a paper bag. Grease and paper bag don't make a good match. I gotta admit, watching the cooks was amusing to me. They didn't move very fast but still got a good amount of food out at a ok pace. It's just hard to tell if they liked being there. And not just the cooks, it looked like everyone there (there were 5 people behind the counter) was either tired or just having a bad day and needed a hug. The older lady gave me a quick smile as she gave me my food but even that was gone in 60 seconds. The only major cripe I have is the size of the cup I got for a combo. It's small. Like, really small. I got a huge burger, a great amount of fries and then I get a cup that's maybe 5 swigs of liquid in it. My water bottle from arrowhead is bigger. They need to be bigger. Not just to give more liquid, but to justify making a $4 burger into a $8 burger. Even with that issue, it's a nice place to go. The area is pretty, and the to go time was as long as most places. If you're looking to grab a big burger, and don't mind being thirsty while doing so this place is the spot to hit. read more

Very nice find for my son. My son loves chili fries. So he is always on the hunt for these. A friend of his recommended Burger Express. It's a small family owned business right off Collins. His first order was of course the chili fries plus a chili dog. Since I did not want him to eat alone I ordered the cheese burger special since after all its a burger place. Well my son loved and I mean loved the chili fries. I'm glad we found something finally he approves of. The burger was also tasty, I loved the charbroiled taste. It reminded me of some burgers from growing up in my old neighborhood. The owners are friendly and sweet. So since I've used the word love so much......I am giving Burger Express lots of "love". I'm not sure if it's a SoCal diner thing where they are usually able to make perfect breakfast burritos along with generic American fare, but this is no exception! Eggs, cheese, hash browns, and your choice of bacon or sausage or ham. Salsa on the side. Char-Broiler Express already prepares them this way, so you don't have to ask for anything special. They know what to do!!! And the result is a million times better than fancy brunch spots in LA that try to get dramatic with the fillings- a breakfast burrito has to have just bacon, egg, cheese and hash browns in my opinion. This is really bad food. It's cheap but not cheap enough to warrant what I just tried to eat. I took a a bite of the cheeseburger and thought "mediocre" but then I ate deeper and it became inedible. I'll eat trash burgers any day but this is beyond trash. The onion rings were especially bad. They weren't sweet or salty. They were completely flavorless. Even after I salted them they tasted like stale bread. Both the onion rings and the fries were severely freezer burned. The highlight was the overpriced baklava, which was still bad. read more

This little mom & pop shop with a Greek twist is right down the street from us and it's fantastic! The food is extremely well prepared, tasty, fresh and reasonably fast. I especially like their Greek salads and burgers. The service is likewise excellent, and the "mom" here will always give you a smile. The dad and boys, not so much, but don't be dissuaded. If you tell a couple jokes, they'll crack a smile for you! Great family! This has become a regular go-to spot for us when we want to grab a bite out but can't decide. This is the Burger Express that used to reside in Newbury Park and has now moved to Moorpark. I miss it so dearly. I drive from N.P. to have their great breakfast and burgers. I love the veggie omelet. But as the name suggests, they have my most favorite cheeseburger ever. I get cravings for their two handed burger. The charbroiled taste and the traditional thousand island dressing just makes for a perfect cheeseburger. Paired with the thin sliced fried zucchini and I am in heaven. I do not get to eat them as much as I used to since they have moved, and I am very jealous of Moorpark. If you live close to them, you have to go in and try the breakfast burrito and the burgers. You will not be sorry. They do have all kinds of other offerings such as salads, sandwiches, and some Greek selections, but I never veer from my cheeseburger and zucchini. I'm in the Collins shopping center pretty frequently, and after tiring of McDonald's and not being entirely enticed to join the business crowd or student groups that seem to frequent custom melt, I found Burger Express. It's a couple bucks more expensive than McDonald's, but you get what you pay for. The portion sizes are what you'd want for a full meal, they taste great, and the atmosphere (or lack of) isn't boisterous or intruding. Also, the nice woman who seems to always be running the register will usually bring your food directly to you. It's a friendly touch. read more

This is such an original Greek Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner place, not only in menu choices but in quality, taste, and service. The burgers are phenomenal. Best burger out here hands down. Their ranch dressing for their awesome fries is homemade and to die for. Their tuna (my fav) is the best. I had It twice this week already! My fiancé loves their breakfast burritos, and that is a lot coming from him. Beyond the fantastic food, it's family owned and the woman is the sweetest. You can see the pride and joy on her face when she serves you their food. She is all smiley and bashful and just so cute and happy to see people enjoying their food. This place is not to be missed. Wonderful mom and pop diner near the school. I have come here many times with friends and family. The owners are very nice and their staff wonderful cooks. I have never been displeased with the food and the price is pretty reasonable as well. I am a huge fan of the avocado cheese burger and chili fries! Go enough and even years later will remember your favorite food. The restaurant is clean, simple and even has daily deals for different items on the menu. Reason I give it 4 stars is my particular pallet is a lot more sensitive than it used to be so for those with stomach or eating problems, i suggest a salad or another restaurant. Today, I ordered a greek salad with a side of regular french fries from Burger Express for lunch, and I was more than happy with the portions I received. The salad was huge and it filled me right up. I didn't feel overly full afterwards though which is good. The salad was filled with amazing flavors, and the dressing tasted very natural and light. If you're hesitant to order a salad from a burger place, don't be afraid! Their salads are awesome. My friends talk about their burgers and salads all the time. I would eat this Greek salad every day, and will probably order it for lunch again tomorrow! Very convenient and fast service as well. Its such a convenient place to order and take to go. The restaurant smelled so good and there were multiple people ordering food for lunch as well. The "small" side of french fries I imagined I'd receive turned out to be HUGE. This was my first time at Burger Express, and when I ordered my side of fries for the first time I didn't think they were going to be so big. Imagine french fries in a small white paper bag almost filled to the top! I had to share with a few of my coworkers as I couldn't finish them on my own. Its definitely a place I'd go back to.
