At long last we made it hear for dinner, and Hearth did not disappoint!!! It was a fantastic dinner. The reviews are all true and it is worth the hype! First, the staff are all so kind and welcoming. You feel like you are having dinner in someone's living room. It is so beautiful and cozy and warm. Perfect for a date night! We came on a Wednesday night and had a reservation and got in right away. We shared everything family-style. Note, the portions are small but the food is delicious and for the price it is right on. Next time, may order two of one dish. We got the cucumber herb salad, the potatoes gravas, the elote corn, the flank steak, and the summer margarita pizza. All were fantastic. Next time, we'll get more than one pizza and may skip the flank steak. For dessert we had the cookie with gelato (gelato is SO GOOD) and the pop tart. You must get the pop tart!!!!! Hearth continues to be one of our favorite restaurants, and this visit reminded us why we've been coming back since they first opened. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The scallop aguachiles were incredibly fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The chicken wings were perfectly crispy with amazing flavor, and the branzino was cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The chorizo pizza was another standout with the perfect combination of smoky, savory toppings and a fantastic crust. Our server was professional, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. Right off the bat, this place had amazing food, atmosphere, and service. Coming in today was a blessing as my partner and I were able to grab a table immediately. During lunch their atmosphere is very calm and light. With natural tones, skylights, and nice background noise. It was still easy to talk without raising our voices but there was always a nice humm of noise around us. The service was perfect with the waiter coming quickly to take our drink, appetizer and pizza order as well as getting us water right off the bat. Everyone was so nice it felt like we were all friends. The food was awesome. We got the chicken wings, bread and butter, and mushroom pizza. The bread was fresh out of the oven with a little black char. The butter was fresh with herbs and garlic it seemed. The chicken wings were breaded fried and tossed with dry rub. They were also amazing with their ranch that had just the right amount of dill in it so it was still a proper ranch. (Some places just taste like dill sauce at this point.) The mushroom pizza stood alone as a great pizza and was even better for us dipped into that ranch. Came here to try their breakfast. As usual, the restaurant is cozy and comfortable, but this time the smell of coffee was apparent. I ordered the Cafe De Olla and my wife got the Burnt Orange Mocha. I liked hers slightly more, but both were good. She ordered the Breakfast Torta and I got the Breakfast bowl. We each enjoyed our selection. I was really excited to finally get to try this place. Came on a Saturday night with reservations otherwise you will have quite the wait. The place is really small about half the restaurant is kitchen. Still had a really chill vibe which I enjoyed. Service wasn't bad for us, but the table next to us left because no one talked to them for 10-15 minutes after they were seated. Time for the food. We ordered Arepa, papas bravas, flank steak and the Hawaiian heat pizza. Arepa was dry and didn't have much flavor. Flank steak had good flavor, but was cold by the time they served it to us. Hawaiian heat pizza had great dough, but the toppings were flavorless and forgettable. I took it to go so I could go home and make it better. The best dish of the night and also the cheapest was the papas bravas. Cooked perfectly, a tad salty, but okay. The dipping sauce it came with really balanced it out. If it weren't for a couple things, like ambiance, our server, and the papas bravas, this place would have hit much lower in the ranking. -Edit, I'm upgrading my rating due to the owner reaching out and being a class act. It's fun to know that creative places like Hearth are opening up in the Alley, which is a cool place to! We made a reservation for Friday at 5:30 and the place was busy! All tables were full. We were greeted warmly by the hostesses. We were celebrating a birthday and it was a fun surprise to see my name printed on the menu. A personal detail that goes along way. We got our drinks from the brewery so we went right into appetizers. We ordered shishito peppers that comes with a labneh dip and sourdough pizza dough. This was my all time favorite dish we had! Next we had Oaxaca quesadillas. We were sold on them by the waitress. They were good but too heavy from what we just had. Wouldn't order these next time. Next Caesar salad. Dainty lettuce. Dressed properly. Good flavor. Didn't stand out incredibly but was a good side for pizza. Finally the papas con chorizo pizza. We originally wanted the hot honey pizza but again we were going off of the waitress. This pizza was good, beautifully crafted and interesting. However wish we got the hot honey instead! The potatoes were crispy, the avocado fresh, the omelette soft and fluffy, the beans and bell peppers delicious. Prior to ordering, we debated if it was worth spending 27 dollars for this pizza when the margarita pizza was six dollars cheaper. Our first visit to this establishment and we will ABSOLUTELY BE BACK. We visited primarily for a drink at enegrens but were hungry--thankfully the Hearth had just opened business for the evening and we ordered the Margherita pizza, short rib pizza, and the elote starter. The Margherita pizza is garnished with an opal basil--absolutely compliments the flavors most delectably. We will come back for that alone! The elote was also so delicious and each plate had such a perfect smokey crisp to each bite. The wood-fired flavor is a must try--we found a Moorpark gem. What a place! From coffee, to dinner and honestly just the overall vibe. 10 out of 10 recommend. But just so you all understand the why, let me explain.... Last night me and my girls were hungry and I had already had coffee here a few mornings in a row! Let me tell you the latte's and the espresso tonic!!! Oooo and the cheddar chive biscuit warmed up! Anyways I digress, when we got there the hostess was super nice and she insisted we go next door to check out the wine. Which was such a nice experience. Then we went back next door to be seated for dinner. We lucked up and got a cute cozy cubby in the back. The aesthetic reminds me of the arts district in LA. Great lighting, beautiful rustic vibe, sweet floral arrangements and then there is the smell! Olive oil infused bread. So now the food.... - Shishito Peppers with labneh delicious! The labneh specifically became a dipping sauce for our pizza crust later on. So hang on to that bowl - Hearth bread. A warm, rustic flatbread that was crusty and soft all at once. We used it to dip in the labneh from the shishito pepper dish - Papas Bravas, yummy crispy potatoes with a really good dipping sauce on the side. We also saved this for the pizza crust later. - Short rib quesadilla, the short rib was coming off the bone. It had another delicious semi acidic sauce in it with squash blossoms. Delicious appetizer! Especially the green sauce!!! Pizzas - Summer margherita pizza, big mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and an aromatic sauce. It was a subtle upgrade to the margherita. - Short rib pizza, the toppings were light and allowed the short rib to shine. It was delicious! - Goat Cheese and cherry pizza, if you love goat cheese this is for you! The cherries were a slight hint of sweet and tart. I loved this one! We ended the meal with gelato it was perfection! I had vanilla with olive oil and sea salt. I have to say Kelly waited on our table and she was wonderful. Finally made it to Hearth and I was not disappointed! Tucked away in the Alley in Moorpark, this is currently a well kept secret but I know the word is spreading. I appreciate that there are six parking spots in front of the start of the alley but most people seemed to park on the streets. Hearth wrapped me in the warmest metaphroical hug this morning and I really needed that. Cambria is a girls girl - the hostess with the mostest and she whipped me up a badass matcha. Cambria can we be best friends? Because she is a total vibe! I'm sure all of the staff are super awesome here, but her hospitality totally made my experience. The interior here is delightful! Super aesthetically pleasing and just a gorgeous job done on the interior. I loved the little touches like the out of sight disco ball, golden amber espresso cups, and moody lighting with pinks and magentas. Fabulous. The food and drinks are definitely standouts! Here is what I ordered: Maracuya Iced Matcha : aka THE PASSIONFRUIT MATCHA. Holy hell was this good and unique. I might need to start a "best drink series of 2025" because this drink would definitely be in my top choices. Fresh passionfruit is a game changer and the matcha was incredible. If you come here you can't leave without getting this. Pork Belly Breakfast Burrito with Avocado: Need I say more? This burrito is killer and if you like carbs, fluffy eggs, and crispy pork belly then this burrito is for you. Their macha salsa was insanely good too. Really this is a home run breakfast dish. Chocolate Chip Cookie with Sea Salt: I don't have much of a sweet tooth but how do you turn down a gooey, hot, fresh baked cookie. Their baked goods are elite here and so many more items I'll need to try next time. My only upgrade and constructive criticism is I wish when you are dining in you get some plates and cutlery to match the vibes. The drinks are so beautiful with their dine in cups, the cardboard/paper to go boxes don't really fit the vibe. But I also get why they would go this route. Reduces water and the time to wash dishes, it's an easy vessel to take leftovers straight from your table etc etc. However when paying dine in prices, just wish there was a little more of that dining in vibe. Have only came here in the mornings to plug in and do some work and the experience has been STELLAR every time. Staff: 10/10 Nate, Cambria and all the team members I have met are 1) super knowledgeable & passionate about coffee & 2) are genuinely dope humans who make you feel at home right away with great customer service. Coffee: 10/10 probably 15/10 for the area if I'm being honest. The drinks are unique, made right in front of you with the highest quality ingredients. My go tos have been the Burnt Orange Mocha (hot & cold), iced Matcha & Cortado and they're all exceptional! They have a rotating seasonal menu for their specialty drinks, so it may be different when you go. Breakfast Food: My favorite things they have is not pictured but it's the Strawberry Scone, so buttery and flakey. I get it almost every time. The Avocado Toast is exceptional, I know you've probably had 50 different variations of this dish but this one and so savory and delicious! It was more savory than other pepperoni pizzas I've had. The crust has the slight burnt taste which was the right amount. I did try the mushroom pizza too. Stopped by today for lunch. The help was super friendly. We ordered margarita and pepperoni pizzas, Caesar salad, carnitas arepa and wings. No sodas or iced tea so I ordered hibiscus tea.. so so. Pizzas came out a little on the cool side for me. Great crust and toppings. Basil was burnt on the margarita. Caesar salad came out as a head of romaine, not enough dressing and no plastic knife to cut. We took it home. Wings were underwhelminganf but arepa was satisfying. $118 with tip. Our first time visiting Hearth and it was a success! After reading all of the Yelp reviews, I needed to try Hearth. One of the recommendations I read was to make reservations for indoor seating, so I did. The indoor seating options are chefs counter or their dining area. It's a small restaurant and the biggest table I saw was for 4 people so it doesn't seem like the best choice for a larger group. A larger group would be better for the outdoor seating. There are different menus for indoor versus outdoor. The outdoor menu is more limited, but the majority of the pizza options. We were greeted and welcomed immediately upon arrival at Hearth. We were seated immediately for our reservation. The employees were all very friendly and personable. Our server, Royal, was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant's food and menu. We decided to try the short rib pizza, mushroom pizza, and the hot honey pizza. All of the pizzas were excellent. I loved the sourdough pizza dough and fluffiness of the crust. The short rib pizza had great flavor, but was lacking in the amount of short rib on the pizza. The mushroom pizza might have been my favorite because it had unique flavors compared to other mushroom pizzas that I've had. I loved the salty creamy cheese flavor. The hot honey was loaded with pepperonis. I loved the ricotta and the sweet spicy combo on this pizza. We also had to try their dessert. We had their warm chocolate chip cookie with a scoop of vanilla gelato. The small scoop of gelato on top of the cookie was $6, which feels overpriced for the amount you get. The dessert was delicious. The cookie was warm, crispy on the edges, and gooey in the middle...perfection! Hearth has great food and excellent service. I'm writing this at 5am because I woke up thinking about my dinner experience the night before, not because I am an early riser but my soul is happy. There is something special happening at this place. All 5 items we ordered were incredibly flavorful in ways that I haven't had since I was dining at a Michelin stared restaurant. Everything was firing - from the wine all through the dessert. The staff was was somehow effortlessly friendly and capable. Special shout out to the chefs working the wood-fired pizza station. Everything here is just locked-in and has a level of excellence that seems almost unachievable and you hope to God that they can maintain. The prices are perhaps too reasonable. I can't wait to come back to see if lightning can strike twice and taste the rest of their menu. After reading the reviews on Yelp, it seems there's an indoor menu with reservations and a simpler outdoor menu. All a bit much, if you ask me. Nonetheless, we were quite happy with our little caesar salad and mushroom pizza. I do prefer a true earthy mushroom flavor, but was fine with the more unique, creamy, tangy creation. The breakfast burrito was fantastic. Every ingredient tasted fresh and clean. I've had too many breakfast burrito that leave me feeling gross after. This one did the opposite. The mint in the salsa was a creative take on a Mexican classic. As a fan of espresso tonics, I was I pressed with their version which added house made peach syrup and yuzu bitters. The espresso itself was pulled perfectly and blended great with their flavors. The staff was incredibly friendly and you can tell they have a created a family environment within the restaurant. Royal has been our server a few times and he's never steered us wrong with recommendations and always makes it feel like a party. It's exactly what our sleepy little town needed - a fun date spot or a place to bring anyone visiting Moorpark to show them what it's all about. One of the best things is the ever changing menu that literally never disappoints. We don't often go out on a Thursday. But adventure, as it tends to do, called softly and insistently. The kids were home, happily sedated by fast food and the laughter of friends. My wife and I, meanwhile, slipped into the night and found ourselves in The Alley, a quiet corner of Moorpark that feels like it was imported--crate by crate--from somewhere much more metropolitan. Hearth Restaurant & Coffee was glowing quietly in the evening calm. Clean lines. Modern decor. Lounge music with just a whisper of a dance beat pulsed gently through the air--not enough to distract, but enough to remind you this was, in fact, a night out. It felt slightly out of place for Moorpark... and at the same time, exactly right. The host welcomed us like old friends. The kitchen was open, alive. And there--behind the counter--I noticed something that stopped me in my tracks: cookbooks. But not just any cookbooks. The greats. Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat. Mozza. The French Laundry. Eleven Madison Park. This was either bold ambition... or culinary misdirection. It was not misdirection. We began with Mr. B's Tomato Toast--a slice of toasted sourdough piled with pistachio pesto, heirloom tomatoes, lemon ricotta, and olive oil. Each bite was a reminder that simple food, when done with soul, is never truly simple. It was sunshine on a plate. Next: Charred Squash with ricotta, gremolata, hazelnuts, and breadcrumbs on toast. Earthy. Bright. Savory. Like autumn and spring had conspired to make a snack. Then came the Tiger Prawns. A dish that could hold court anywhere on the Pacific Rim: heirloom tomatoes, garlic, miso, Thai basil, coconut cream. Served with sourdough toast to scoop every last drop of joy. I would've licked the plate, had I been alone. The Asparagus followed, dressed in lemon aioli, chili flakes, parm, breadcrumbs, and a touch of chili oil--balanced, vibrant, and exactly what asparagus always hopes to be. And then, the crescendo: Pollo al Pastor. Half a chicken, beautifully marinated, kissed by flame, resting beside crema Oaxaqueña, pineapple, charred onions, radish, and warm tortillas. This was no mere dinner. This was a thesis on flavor. I nearly applauded. The restaurant is helmed by Chef Sebastian, his wife, and a team of passionate culinary explorers. You can taste their intent in every dish. There is no wine list, but you're welcome to bring your own--a welcome touch of humility in a place that could easily lean toward the pretentious, but never does. This isn't just dinner.
