I've been here 4 times in the past year; I was such a fan and recommended this salon to everyone I knew until my last visit here. First visit, I had a pedicure. The service was well done, I felt really relaxed, and I enjoyed my time. Next two visits, I got tips overlay with gel and a refill. My nails were incredibly weak and I wanted to let them grow out without breaking. Both sets came out really nice and thin. Each one lasted at least 3 weeks. The second set was a bit rushed, and as a result, some dirt was caught between the tip and my natural nail but it didn't bother me too much. My most recent visit, I got a gel removal and classic manicure. I had started the gel removal process on my own (filing down the top coat and soaking in acetone) but it was taking quite a bit, so I decided to just get it done professionally. At the salon, the gel removal was taking quite a bit, and they kept cycling through filing and soaking. The technician working on my nails was being watched by another technician, who passingly said to me "whatever you got done is really hard to take off" with a bit of an attitude. As soon as I explained that it was a gel set I got at THEIR salon, their tone changed and the comment turned into "oh wow, good quality!" After finally getting the gel off, my nails were INCREDIBLY weak. I broke all of my nails on my right hand and majority of my nails on my left hand within 4 days. Finally, for all 4 visits, I had an appointment every time and I always had to wait at least 10 minutes to be seen. On that last visit, it took almost 30-35 minutes to be seen. They also seemed to never know what I was coming in for even though I always specified the service(s) I wanted in the bookings. I'm sad to write this review because I did really like this place, but their attitude, making me wait 10+ minutes even with an appointment, and the fact that my nails are now weaker than when I first came in really turned me off. This is my favorite place to go for a manicure pedicure in the area. I always try to book ahead so I can get my manicure with Bach, as she is really good, thorough and fast. My number one pet peeve with mani pedis is how long they can take but Charisma always manages to do a high quality job efficiently. The hubby and I were in the area waiting for traffic to die down before heading back to Sac so we stopped here for pedicures. They did such an amazing job. Huge shout out to Lisa; I originally wanted the deluxe pedicure (#2) but because of my overly dry and callused feet, she highly recommended the VIP (#3) which included a special callus removal treatment and was sooooo glad I listened. She scrubbed the heck out of my feet and they are baby soft! She really took her time and was so detailed. Would def recommend and come back! read more

I've been going here for almost a year now. I had a few initial subpar experiences but it was close to work so convenience kept me coming back. Then I found Ann, who clearly cared about her work and I'd been going back ever since. Unfortunately, Ann is either traveling or not coming back, and so I went with the manager/owner and another girl for a mani pedi. Wow. Just the least amount of attention or care I could imagine. The tech on my hands barely filed my nails, and when i asked her to file the sides to elongate the nail, she did the opposite and made them wide and stumpy LOL. I tried to sneakily file them a bit when she went to grab the color but she saw me and kept trying to take the nail file from me I've been in this game a long time and I'm not about to walk out with nails I hate. Then when she painted them with gel... Goopy. Thick. Too far from the cuticle. I knew it was game over at that point. Sigh. Pedicure was going alright so I just dissociated till the end, thanked them and left. Not sure if Ann will ever return but I certainly won't. read more

This salon never misses. They do the best job, always even edges and pay attention to detail. I get builder gel (hard gel) and they take a lot of time to make sure it's shaped perfectly and not lumpy. Also an hour for a hard gel manicure is pretty quick for how great of a job they do! read more

I've been to salons where they just get you in and out and then on to the next client, but these ladies at this salon clearly care and did their best to make sure their work looked super good. It looked like they triple checked to make sure everything looked perfect which I sincerely appreciate. Mani/pedi is pricey, presumably given the location, but your money will be well spent given the attention to quality by the staff. Covid related: * Try calling ahead instead of walking in. They prefer calls/appts to give them a heads up * Appts are being done outside in the parking lot that's to the right of their building, due to Covid (i went in Aug 2020 on a Tues afternoon) - just keep in mind that your appts will be outside, and you might need to take into account the weather. I went around 4:45 pm to try to beat the heatwave and when they were getting me started off, there were less customers at this time as well. * All staff were wearing masks and face shields. read more

I could have sworn I've reviewed Charisma in the past but I guess not. This place is by farrrr the best acrylic set I've ever gotten in the Bay Area. Skillset aside, they always do an incredible job accommodating last minute requests. All the staff are incredibly friendly and insanely talented at their job. Simply put, I love this spot! I discovered it via ClassPass in the fall, and I came back today for a relaxing and well-deserved mani and pedi. This salon is distinguished from others in the following ways: 1) the space is welcoming and airy; 2) the music is soothing; 3) the people who work there are kind and sweet. While the pricing is standard compared with other salons in the area, I highly recommend this place for the reasons mentioned above. It should be noted that, in contrast, when I walked into another salon in the vicinity, it was obvious that they were passing judgment by telling me repeatedly and clarifying how much their services cost.
