Mikhail responded to the project pretty quickly via Yelp and offered to see the situation before giving us a quote on the following day. On the next day, he came over and looked at where we needed to replace the light and gave us a very reasonable quote on the spot. And I agreed to proceed with it and he removed the existing ceiling light with the new pendant light. The whole process, from discussing the quote to he setup to he completed the job (including adjusting the pendant multiple times for me to figure out the most ideal drop of the lamp in our living room) and to pack his stuff, only took 40 minutes! I appreciated his quick turnaround on this! There are always some small projects I want to try doing it myself; but now I know who to reach out if I have a complex one or when I do not know what to do even after watching multiple Youtube videos :)

Unfortunately I discovered I couldn't remove it, so I put out a request for an electrician on Yelp. I received four responses, but Mikhail was the only one who was willing to talk to me over the phone. We set up an appointment the following morning, and he was punctual. Mikhail assessed I have a ballast which required dismantling the fixture and inserting a ballast bypass tube. He did the entire job in about 25 minutes because he bought the necessary 48-inch tube beforehand. He even helped clean my dusty ceiling ventilator. Total cost was $200. Turned out to be my lucky day! Paula at Ingraham listened patiently to my circuit breaker issue and troubleshooted with me. She walked me through trying to reset different outlets and ultimately directed me back to the circuit breaker box and proposed a technique for handling the malfunctioning switch. It worked! She accomplished all this while I performed some bone-headed phone stunts! Paula has the patience of a saint and is obviously very tech-savvy! I would have happily paid for Paula's wonderful service but she insisted no payment was needed. It was late on a Saturday night and I called APEX Electric based on their Yelp reviews. They said they were finishing up a job but could be at the house within an hour. They called 45 minutes later and had already figured out the problem. They said the conduit providing power to the house had corroded (salty air in Pacifica). They had already put in a call to PG&E for us and PG&E repaired the electrical problem two hour later. They were prompt, efficient and professional. Thank you Apex Electric!

Hugo and Enrique upgraded…read morethe old wire to Romex, replaced all the dated receptacles, and switches, added recessed and art lighting, and rerouted the all the 220 V (baseboard heaters, dryer, car charger, oven) to our 200 amp main panel. He also fixed the kitchen wiring so the breakers no longer trip when we run the microwave. It took about two weeks to do the entire job. First of all, he is the neatest contractor I have ever had in my house. His tools and supples are always neatly tucked away when he leaves the job site. He covers the furniture, and vacuums up with a shop vac after every room was complete. He is very knowledgeable of how houses were made 70 years ago. I expected to have to do major patching and painting, but there were only three small holes during the entire job. Our job was also a mixed space of crawlspace and concrete slab, and he was able to rewire both spaces. His bid was very competitive and he came to the site twice prior to beginning work so that he had a good idea what we wanted. We did change some of the project midstream - we added some fans, and more outlets, so there was a reasonable adjustment to the initial bid, but that was expected. I would use his crew again in a second. I finally have my go to electrician.

Jose Ruiz began work in August 2019 and as of today, February 15, 2020 has not completed the work. Every week I inquired as to when he would be completing the job. Each week I was told that he was very busy and maybe would come next week. Next week would arrive and I was given the same story week after week. I also requested an itemized bill of his work as he progressed on the job so I could make weekly or monthly payments to him. To date I have received no billing or itemized statement of any kind now seven months later. Out, I of absolute frustration I have hired a new electrician. They arrived the following day and have completed the work in two days. Jose Ruiz knows electric & does everything to code but is TOTALLY UNRELIABLE. Save yourself the grief. DO NOT HIRE!!!

So we got in touch with ELM Roofing and had them come out to do an inspection. Lucas was great. He identified the issue quickly, stepped us through what our options were, and kept us in the loop the entire time. He checked the roof out with a drone, since it was too high to run a single ladder up, and we got to watch the neighbor's resident hummingbirds go nuts trying to threaten it away. Evidently hummingbirds hate drones! We had our entire roof and the garage roof replaced, because the builder had cheaped out on underlayment materials and is a pain to get to fix anything under warranty. So, y'know, forget him, but this isn't a review about him. We've got a much tougher underlayment now, all the chipped tiles we had have been replaced, and it is quite honestly better than new now. They did clean work, too. Didn't mess up the yard at all, they were fastidious about noise levels and allowed work times, everything you'd hope a certified contractor would do (but do they? Well...many don't, believe me). Quick and thorough, and when the project got interrupted by rain, they kept us informed about that, too. They came out on a Saturday to get ahead of the weather and even let us know exactly what the local weekend construction ordinances were ahead of time so we'd know what to expect. I think that's what I'd say about them the most: No surprises. They don't do anything unexpected with the final invoice, they don't jerk you around, they don't treat you like you won't understand what they're doing. You're fully in the loop at all times and you're treated as a partner in the project. You get exactly the work and quality promised. And it's good work, with a 20 year guarantee. I'd highly recommend them.

I can't say enough good things about Dan and the team at Charles Electric. From the very beginning, Dan went completely above and beyond to help me with my generator problems. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but he genuinely cared about making sure I wasn't left without power while my generator was being repaired. What really impressed me was that Dan provided me with a loaner generator at no charge while mine was being fixed -- something he absolutely didn't have to do. Even more amazing, he ended up not charging me for anything at all. In today's world, that kind of honesty, generosity, and customer service is almost unheard of. It showed me that he truly cares about helping people and standing behind his work rather than just making money. Throughout the entire process, communication was excellent, the turnaround was fast, and I truly felt taken care of the entire time. You can tell Dan takes a tremendous amount of pride in his work and values long-term customer relationships built on trust and integrity. About a month ago the power was off in Emerald Hills (again!) and my generator was turning on but no power was coming out. I called every electrician that came up in a 'near me' search - only one replied that same afternoon: Dan from Charles Electric. He was already on a job but said he would stop by my place on his way home. It was over 90-degrees but he stopped by that same afternoon and quickly arrived at a preliminary diagnosis: the generator's rotor/stator was blown. He took the generator back to his shop and tried for days to see if Duromax could replace that. After it was clear that fixing was going to be close enough to replacing the generator I resigned myself to a big hit for a new one. Dan said he would drop off one of his own generators for me to borrow until I made the decision about what I wanted to replace the old dead one with. Long story short, Dan exercised his personal discount with Duromax to secure a much better generator at $700 less than the best price I could find. I was, and still am, a little stunned at his personal and professional generosity. I cannot recommend Dan at Charles Electric highly enough - the story speaks for itself. read more

This is classic customer service...Call him 650-766-1000! I needed help putting up a bunch of Christmas lights this year to raise our family's spirits. I have a disability. Dan Charles (Charles Electric) responded right away...he actually called me which made the experience better than the usual digital/email 'hurry up and wait'. And even though he was busy, we talked person-to-person and set up a day and time. He and his crew were 15 minutes early, in a good way, with terrific service and a 'real price'...no gouging just because the holidays are busy. A straight shooter. I'll use his services again for all things electrical and recommend them for home improvement projects, solar ideas and maintenance. The Charles Electric team installed a generator for us about a year ago - the install was very smooth and painless, and Dan has been a great resource for maintenance questions since then, and proactively checks in periodically to make sure all works fine. Also: When our neighborhood lost power for 48 hrs around Christmas 2025 due to very bad storms, Dan again proactively reached out to me to check on how our generator was working - good news is that it was working fine and we had full power; bad news was it had been running 48 hrs straight due to prolonged outage - AND, since I was out of town, he stopped by ON CHRISTMAS to check the unit and add some fresh oil. Can't imagine better service. Dan and his team really care about product performance and the customer experience, and that service is hard to find. Cannot recommend Charles Electric more. read more

Danny and his crew have been doing work for my family for over 20 years. They are excellent! He is honest, reliable, personable and stands by his work. Here are some of the things he has installed for us over the years: paddle fans, recessed lighting on cathedral ceilings and dimmers. He has troubleshot things over the phone with me. NEGATIVE FIVE STARS. Mr. Charles was hired to install recessed lighting. Simple installations. I found five flagrant electrical code violations and extremely sloppy workmanship, for which he overcharged. I found his work to be wasteful, sloppy, and potentially dangerous. When confronted about the poor quality of his work at an extremely high cost he became agitated and started yelling threats and acting violent. Mr. Charles promised to install several things, then he chose not to follow the work as planned. Demanded money for work not performed. Mr. Charles' preferred tool seems to be a sledgehammer. in regards to the performance of Charles electric I was very disappointed. I asked for some help for my generator at my lake house . He was no help at all. He kept me waiting. It was a very bad experience. I would not recommend this guy for anything. Also had to give 1 star to post review. Actually zero stars is what i wanted to give. Very Unprofessional. read more

Dan got back to us the same day we called and was great to communicate with, he responded very quickly to emails and texts. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful and reasonably priced. He made quick work of fixing our GFCI receptacle problem! We plan to hire him again for some lighting fixes around the house, and would recommend him to others. read more

Dan help us identify the optimum solution for back up power to prepare for inevitable power outages. He identified procured the generator, did the required modifications to the electrical system. Dan responded quickly to calls and provided useful advice along the way. I wouldn't hesitate to call Dan any electrical problems that arise. read more

From the very start it was obvious to me that he comes with a wealth of experience and is simply an honest, hard-working man. I didn't have a very big project (sub-panel replacement), but he was still the only electrician from Yelp who paid me the courtesy of visiting my house in person before bidding. He was always on time, always responsive to calls and texts, and was just a pleasure to work with overall. As we talked about many things while he was working on the project, I felt like we became good friends. It quickly became apparent to me that I was talking to a real professional, with tons of experience handling projects of scale incomparable to mine. I learned that over his 45 years in the industry, he was involved in very large projects in key roles, managed rewiring of hospitals, stadiums, thousands of amperes of power, he knows it all. That he simply got tired of the intensity of big business and decided to work for himself and for the regular folk like you and me. And his pricing is very reasonable, too. I'd say you're getting an amazing deal hiring Kelly, with his experience and expertise he could very easily make much, much more as an industrial electrician or manager, he is overqualified for the jobs he is taking on now. But it makes him happy. I would, without a doubt, hire Kelly again and I hope to maintain a long-term relationship with him.
