Pork Chop with their loaded Idaho potato and beans!
    Miranda T.

We had a company lunch here about 3 times in 2 months. Every time I come here, it is an absolute pleasure. The waitress is always pleasant (I do apologize, I forget names and lot). Safe to say though, all the wait staff here is very friendly and fast. 2 of the 3 times I have came here, I ordered the pork chop. Yes, the pork chop is around $30; however, it is something to drool over. When you cut the pork chop, it just melts like an A5 wagyu. You don't need to put any force to cut this pork chop. The chop is well seasoned and pairs very well with the mashed potatoes or even a fresh salad. The beans are something I never thought I would compliment. It is smokey, meaty, and has a slight tang to it all at the same time. We'll worth a try as a side. Idaho potatoes that are loaded? Well, it's a potato. I would go with their mashed potatoes if you would like a potato item. Their baked potato needs just a bit more cooking time to make that creamy loaded potato. Their dessert items are on par with a professional bakery. The key lime cheesecake had a fresh zing. The cream they put on the cheesecake is light and airy. It pairs well to even out the sourness key lime has. Overall, I will always strive to come here again.

The ambience is very chill dimly lit really nice for date night comfortable seating. The service is always on point The drink menu is dynamic and always changing If they have brussels sprouts available, grab them they're phenomenal. They did not this night. The glazed carrots and broccolini are a great side Pork chops are bone in and always cooked really well one of my favorites

Went with my aunt and uncle after church. After skipping breakfast, I was starving. My starter was a cup of beef and vegetable soup. And everything was cooked to the point where the meat and vegetables just dissolved it was flavorful. Our waitress Ally was extremely attentive clearing plates and refilling glasses and informative. My only question before ordering the Rueben was regarding what I almost ordered the hickory burger but wasn't interested in the Canadian bacon (ham) on a hamburger. Definitely will be back solo to try something else on the menu.

I love Charleston's. They never disappoint! This club salad was delicious. A nice ending to my day! The espresso martini was also great. They customized it perfectly for me with tequila instead of vodka!

This is my first time at this location and overall, my experience was really good. The staff was friendly and attentive especially considering we had such a large party. There were 8 of us. The food was good, although I was little bothered because I ordered fish tacos comes with beans and rice but it had pork in it!! Not mentioned anywhere in the description did it mention that the beans had pork in it and I'm a pescatarian! Thankfully I saw it before I ate it and one of our waitresses, graciously substituted it out for some of their coleslaw. I also got a side of burgundy mushrooms. For my adult beverage, I got fall old fashioned. It was good, but I wish I had stirred it before I drank it because I tasted most of the spices at the end of the drink. Our table got appetizers that included the spinach and artichoke dip, which was amazing. And they also got the escargot shrimp, which my family said was grea, but I don't know because i'm allergic to shellfish. My kid got the ribs with mashed potatoes and fries and really enjoyed them. And my husband got the fish and chips I got to nibble on his fish.It was very tasty. We will definitely come through next time.We are in town.

Came here after an event near by. We were dressed a little nicer and wanted to take advantage of the situation. We were seated promptly when we arrived and our waitress was very attentive. They had several things on the menu that appealed to me. I asked for a recommendation, and was suggested to get the shrimp scampi. I was very happy with my decision, it was delicious. This is a very nice restaurant close to a lot of shopping.

I'm a regular at Charlestons. I travel for work & they have some restaurants in Oklahoma. The main reason I go is because of their similarities to the Houston's restaurants we raised our kids on in Kansas City and if you travel through the south they are found in many cities i.e. Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Memphis, & Atlanta. The owner of the Charleston chain of restaurants has direct financial ties to the original Houston's brand so many of the recipes are the same. They offer amazing spinach and artichoke dip. I'm is it as good as Houston's spin dip? Nah. But it's as close as you will ever find. The only difference I can tell is that the chips are thinner & don't support the dip from plate to mouth. The spinach and artichoke dip is what drew me to the restaurant this particular night. I like sitting at the bar and was welcomed by both bartenders. They were very kind and courteous. They made a special effort to learn my name and of course I remember their names They delivered my drink swiftly and brought my spinach and artichoke dip in a reasonable amount of time. Something happened that for some reason , and I know I am picky, but I am about to pay $20 for a Coke and an appetizer so I expect good service to compensate for the additional amount I'm paying. When they brought my food to me, they didn't bring me any silverware or a napkin. There was a spoon in the Sour cream when. A few minutes later, I asked for a napkin and the bartender reached over next to her and picked up paper napkins and handed them to me. Everybody in the entire restaurant gets a cloth napkin with silverware. That's just basics so that's why my rating is three stars. After trying to reach the manager several times, I give up! Leaving my phone number has yielded no response. You can email me: Gregg.mark@rocketmail.com

Visited during 'restaurant week'. Ordered the 'Grilled Chicken & Avocado Club' sandwich along side potato soup and unsweetened tea and fries. Huge sandwich, fresh and very tasty. Had multiple refills of the tea without having to ask. This $20 meal was way well worth it. Will definitely visit again.

    Hawaiian ribeye with fries

This is the second KC restaurant recommended for fans of the gone-but-never-forgotten Houston's. It does have some of the old Houston's faves on the menu (not the Asian chicken salad, though- don't come here looking for that). My dining companion chose chips and queso as the appetizer. Not what I would have chosen outside of a Mexican restaurant, but I have to say it was executed perfectly and I would order it again. For nostalgia's sake we both had the Hawaiian ribeye with fries. They arrived cooked as ordered and was close to the original flavor that we remember. The other place that serves a version of this steak is actually a better representation to me, though. Also the fries were standard and boring and not great. Service was attentive but unfussy, which I really like. Ambiance is upscale casual. We would go back if in the area.

Charleston was nothing less than amazing yesterday for my uncles birthday! I haven't been to one in years as they all closed in AZ, so I was excited to check them out. When my mom and I arrived, a few people were already there, so we checked out the menu. The menu is tiny but mighty with a great mix of sandwiches, burgers, pasta, chicken, and salads. I always try to pick something I can not make at home, so I ordered the fish and chips. Our waiters came by, and I was encouraged to order this. I went with it, and instead of the fries, I got the broccoli. To drink, I got their NA blackberry punch. Everything was amazing! The NA punch had a little hint of sweetness but was fruity and tart as well from the ginger beer and blackberry. My food was delicious, and it did not need any sauce or spices, especially the fish and broccoli. The coleslaw was cool and creamy with a nice crunch. The broccoli was bright green with a crunch and had a small river of butter under it that made my taste buds sing. And the fish, light and flaky and just fried enough for that crunch. I wish that the pieces were a little bigger and that my stomach was bigger too! They give you a good amount of food! It makes awesome leftovers. I liked the attentive service and that we were able to put in a reservation and able to sit at not only our tables but also a few surrounding it. For next time, it would be great to be able to reserve the private room for noise and conversations.

Chicken piccata with side of sprouts
    Dawn C.

What a great spot. Met some friends for lunch who come here regularly and assured me that no matter what I ordered I would love it. I ordered the chicken piccata. It was delightfully full of veggies and the side of Brussel's sprouts were crispy and tossed in a bit of chilli sauce. The chicken was thin and tender. However, the serving size was rather small. I expected more pasta. I are every morsel but the cost is hard to justify when I had "just" enough to eat. The service was top notch, and the restaurant interior is classy without feeling stuffy.

The place is a nice big restaurant in mission farms. It's an upscale casual vibe that is a bit different from the places we usually like to go for morning food. Nice comfortable seats and well appointed. We had never been before so we asked our server several questions and she was awesome. We spend a lot of time in New Orleans and they had beignets on the menu. She said no on the beignets in the friendliest way. She knew we wouldn't like them. Probably nothing against them they are probably fine enough but she understood where we were coming and politely gave us the scoop. Not only that but i was starving and she recommended we have the breakfast nachos that she described like tostadas and she was right! Perfect! All restaurants should have someone who cares about the business and customer enough to steer them the right way. We were both impressed with her. After the "nachos" we shared a breakfast burrito. Everything we got was good. The burrito was pork and eggs and it was tasty. Only thing is I wished they would have grilled the tortilla on the outside to firm it up. The potatoes were fine, but a bit bland. They could have used some seasoning and more onions. The nachos were good but I think could've used a bit more cheese. Overall, we were pretty happy and will be back. I am curious to try an omelette next time. I wonder if we can get the same server.

As a Vietnam veteran, I'm very aware of my surroundings, and something about today's experience felt off. I arrived during happy hour and ordered a drink, assuming it was part of the happy hour menu. I later realized it wasn't, and I left feeling a bit taken advantage of. I understand that a happy hour menu is provided, but I didn't realize I needed to specifically ask which items were included. No one behind the bar explained the pricing differences or mentioned that what I ordered was not part of the happy hour offerings. Clear communication would have prevented the misunderstanding. When I received my bill, it was about twenty dollars more than I expected. I asked about the charges calmly and respectfully -- I never raised my voice, even though it was difficult in the moment. The bartender simply told me, "That's what you ordered." She's a very sweet woman, but she didn't seem to realize I was upset, and shortly after that she stepped away. That's when I spoke with Hannah. Hannah is truly exceptional. She immediately understood my disappointment and asked if I wanted her to remove the extra charges. I declined, because my frustration wasn't about the money -- it was about the lack of attentiveness and the absence of honest, proactive communication I expect from a respectable establishment. Hannah handled the situation with grace, kindness, and professionalism. She has a personality that stands out the moment you meet her, and she made it hard for me to stay upset. My real concern was the overall experience. During the hour and a half I was there, the bar was never busy -- never more than two people -- until a woman who works at Starbucks arrived with her boyfriend. It was clear the bartender knew them, and the level of attentiveness shifted noticeably. While I understand taking care of friends, it made me feel overlooked as a paying customer. I spent nearly a hundred dollars during my visit, yet I received almost no conversation or engagement from the staff. I'm not a young man, and I'm certainly not in the same age group as the bartender's friends, but that shouldn't affect the level of service. I own a business in Brookside and often recommend local restaurants to my clients. Today's experience left me feeling neglected and uncomfortable, and it has made me reconsider those recommendations. In the end, I wasn't upset about the cost -- I was disappointed by the lack of communication and the absence of effort to make guests feel acknowledged and comfortable. Hannah was the bright spot in an otherwise discouraging visit.

You are to order that at the concessions stand in the lobby, and that's not clear-cut to do unless you ask around. On top of that, they didn't even get my order correct (came with jalapenos when I requested to not have such). Need more insult to injury? Only one person working behind the concessions stand in a line of 6+ groups with no help in sight. Final insult: no booze is offered - no VINO, beer, cocktails... nothing. We were greeted by the hostess with, "hello," followed by an awkward silence and a blank stare. Uhh...hi? After a few more seconds of silence, my husband finally asked, "So, do we just sit anywhere?" To which the hostess responded, "Sure. You can sit anywhere in the bar or patio." I was sure I had seen a more formal dining setting in my research before we came, so before we sat down I blurted out, "Can't we get a table for two?" Again she responded, "Sure," grabbed two menus, and started walking. This issue could easily be corrected with a little training, or retraining, on how to greet guests. When we got to the dining room, she said we could sit at any two top. The only problem was two walls of the dining room are entirely made up of windows, one that is facing due west, and at about 5:30PM this means the light and heat of a thousand suns. All of the two tops were along the windows. We chose the one with the least direct eye burning light, but we still had to dine with our sunglasses on. Another couple was seated at a two top behind us and wound up being so uncomfortable with the heat and brightness that they changed their minds and left moments later. Sure the view of Overland Park is beautiful, but something has got to give, because no one wants to go on a nice romantic date and have to wear shades. Alright, the positives. The service was great. Both our server, and the other server in the dining room, worked very well together to make our experience enjoyable. The live piano music created romantic ambience. The food was delicious, albeit a little monochromatic--the plates were severely lacking green (or any contrast from brown and orange tones. see photos if you don't believe me.) We started with the bleu cheese stuffed figs. To my surprise (& perhaps dismay), these were made with dried instead of fresh figs. The flavor was good, however the texture wasn't as pleasant as it would've been with fresh figs. I had the braised pork shank that was fall-off-the-bone tender, served with a potato mash, roasted carrots, a peach compote, topped with roasted tomatoes and a jus of sorts. Well seasoned, great flavors. He had the center cut of beef, served with white asparagus, and a potato mash, and a beef jus. Again, flavors were there, but maybe green asparagus would've made the dish appear less anemic. We were also given a small dish of very bland housemade ricotta with a few small slices of bread. We could've done without. Overall, we would dine hear again, but I think we will wait until a slightly cooler evening so that we can sit on the patio. (It is less strange to dine in sunglasses if you're outside.) It was pleasant and romantic, despite the hiccups.
