    Philly cheesesteak and fries
    Mimi L.

No doubt food was expensive here but who've thought they actually cared about doing French fries right, for less than $4, the fries tasted fresh out of frier, hot, cripsy, wholesome and hearty. If they can do small things with a meticulous approach, you can safely say other items would taste equally good, and yes they did philly cheesesteak sandwich justice. Service was fast and friendly. My son's favorite food spot in great mall and it must be a reason why.

Steak Philly Cheesesteak - Small (6")

Expectations aren't sky-high when it comes to meals from a mall food court but unfortunately Charley's failed to clear even the low mental bar that I had set for it. The cheesesteak itself was average but small, and the cheese fries were terrible and should be avoided at all costs. The quality of the cheesesteak itself was serviceable, probably exactly what you would expect in this setting. At first I was pleasantly surprised at the price point as it was around $8 for a six-inch sub which is right around what you would expect from a place like Subway these days. Once it arrived though it became abundantly clear how they keep the price down as this thing was about as wide as a #2 pencil. It was the skinniest hoagie roll I've ever seen, so the total volume of this cheesesteak was probably half what you might get at another chain. The real nail in the coffin for me came with the cheese fries which were legitimately awful. A simple comparison between the picture on the menu and the picture of what I actually received tells part of the story, but it doesn't capture how low-quality the cheese sauce they use is. Imagine the cheap plastic container of cheese-like substance that would be handed to you to drizzle over your stale nacho chips at a little league concession stand and even that would probably be preferable to what they slop on top of these mediocre french fries. Do yourself a favor and never order these.

Cheese steaks, here I come! You can share with your buddy on one of their signature 12inch cheese steaks. They even have a selection of fries, which I loved! (Bacon and cheese) yummy! The staff are well trained and friendly. Its a casual setting, situated in the dining court of Great Mall. Better park in site 5, lots of empty space parking with shade.

Charley's Cheesesteaks is hands down my favorite place to eat whenever I visit the Great Mall. Their sandwiches are always fresh, perfectly made, and consistently delicious. The staff never gets our orders wrong, which is a huge plus, and the quality never disappoints. If you're looking for a reliable and tasty meal, this is definitely the spot! Tip: if there's a long line at the cashier they have a self order tablet to the right of the restaurant.

Not the best cheesesteak but it definitely does the job factoring you being at a mall food court. I decided to come here since it had been a while since my last Philly cheesesteak sandwich and being that this particular business stood out beyond all the neighboring noodles being offered. I placed the order for the Philly cheesesteak combo which came out pretty quickly. At first glance, the sandwich looked like an absolutely unappetizing mess but the ingredients were plentiful and the cheese was all melty. Sandwich was merely okay. Nothing great but not inedible. Soggy-ish bread didn't really help but the meat wasn't dry. Best item from the purchase was definitely the fries- fluffy on the inside with a nice golden tan. 3 stars overall. Service was prompt and unexpectedly pleasant.

Late review but I got the 7$ special, I found it the most economically costing deal across the food court. The food itself is good, good amount of vegetables too.

I have a friend who would always swear that Charley's was the best place a person could eat. About 10 years ago he worked at the mall and almost anytime I visited him he had a Charley sub in his hand. For whatever reason, I never had the urge to try it. However, doing some Christmas shopping in the mall and I was hungry. Decided to give it a shot. So how does it stack up? I think the best word is simply, OK. It's not bad by any means, but it's nothing special either. I'm a big Philly cheesesteak guy, so I kind of have high expectations. The subs here are kinda small, especially for the price. Flavor is decent, but part of me simply wanted more. You can do a lot worse for cheesesteaks, but you can also do a lot better. It's simply OK for what it is. Mall food.

No lines and no crowds on a rainy day morning with plenty of available parking spots in the huge lot. Nothing attractive on the outside in this old popular plaza. The place turned out great with the old fashioned retro red color style interior and the experience was wonderful. Good vibes and positive feelings when walking into it. My lady server provided excellent service and the Hispanic male worker was quick and efficient. Place is clean and menu had good variety of selections. Breakfast is served all day while lunch items start at 11am. My breakfast was very fulfilling and total was $25.30 with everything included. I paid in cash and tipped them $5. Loved my sweet lady server. There was another older woman at the cash register. She's a local as well. I really enjoyed the stop. I had the Fajitas Omelette breakfast and the steak meats in it were very generous. Delicious breakfast exactly as I had expected. My onions green peppers potatoes were perfect with a side of salsa. Sourdough toast was delicious with the garlic butter taste. I really came for my favorite hot chocolate with whipped cream in the morning. I do miss big American breakfasts, especially in these old fashioned and traditional retro spots. Love it. Why didn't I visit this place much earlier? Because they're always busy or full inside and the plaza parking is usually congested with heavy traffic here. Overall, I love the vibes and the service. It's one of those places where you can just have normal casual conversations with the staffs working inside if you are open to it. Beautiful diner. Yes, I will be revisiting in the future. If you love huge food portions, there's great value here. One plate can easily be shared between two people. Nice.

If you read my reviews here on Yelp, you know I either post for either a really good review or a…read morereally bad review. Unfortunately we are here for the latter. We moved to Milpitas about a year ago and my son started going to Mil's and is a current 'Regular'. They have good food. So after a while, my husband and I started going there and we too started going there pretty regularly for breakfast, at least once or twice a week. All in all, between the family we drop a few hundred a week. And we do tip well. Most of the wait staff knows us. Today, my husband had to stop on his way home to use the restroom. He doesn't look homeless or unkempt in anyway. When he asked, they told him he couldn't unless he's a 'paying customer'. This was to a newer employee he hadnt seen before. He proceeded to explain that we eat here regularly and she still said no. He asked to speak to the manager, who does know him. He too said no. I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that for a supposed family atmosphere restaurant, they couldn't extend a small courtesy. What exactly was it going to take away from them? As mentioned, we drop a good chunk of change there, and they didnt want to help out a patron that frequents the restaurant? Well, have no fear, we will NEVER darken your doorstep EVER again.

They were packed during the games, though the line moved fairly quickly. If ordering only beer, orders were placed directly at the bar. The beer selection was displayed on screens above the ordering counter, though there were additional ciders and sours available upon request. Food came out quickly as the grill was constantly being reloaded. After ordering, I was given a pager that buzzed once everything was ready. The pick up station was located near condiment counters lined with half opened bottles of hot sauce, mustard, and mayonnaise. I did appreciate the ketchup variety, which included original, chipotle, and curry options. *Dragonfruit, Passionfruit Sour: pleasantly acidic and fruit forward. This unfortunately came from a can rather than the tap. I was offered a chilled glass, which I accepted, though the can itself was not refrigerated so the final pour ended up disappointingly lukewarm. *Onion Rings: disappointing batter execution. They were already half soggy despite us eating them immediately. The coating lacked airiness and everything had a one dimensional chewiness. I also wished both the batter and onion carried more sweetness and developed flavor. *Sweet Potato Fries: suffered from the same sogginess as the onion rings. The portion was generous for $8, though these largely served as a vehicle for the various ketchup options rather than standing on their own. Oddly enough, the women's bathroom was far cleaner than the dining area itself. Our table appeared unwiped when we sat down, and the sauce station was noticeably greasy. I ended up avoiding most of the condiments because the bottles had a visible and tangible film coating them. Unfortunately, I felt somewhat ill after finishing the meal and definitely noticed the effects afterward. St. John's has a strong beer program and great game day atmosphere, but the cleanliness issues were difficult to overlook. The entire space could benefit from a much more thorough deep clean. On top of that, the underwhelming quality of the appetizers made it hard to justify returning when even the simplest menu items lacked proper execution.

The Japanese influence Curry was good with the rice and a perfect pairing to the crispy tonkatsu cutlet. I wished I had ordered more servings of this over the Garlic shrimp. The Garlic Shrimp was good but a tad too dry. We needed a garlic sauce to compliment the garlic rice. There was a bit too much raw chopped garlic mixed vs sautéed chopped garlic. Hopefully they make the adjustment. Kids loved the roscoes ice cream tacos for $5 each. We wanted more of the Youngsters (cookies and cream) but it only allowed us to order 1 as it was probably the last one in stock.
