They also use white onions which adds extra flavor and crunch. Half of this banh mi usually fills me up. Friendly aunties and quick service, it's also great that they accept credit cards now and don't charge hidden fees or minimum amounts required. Overall it's not bad for $8. Make note that marinated pork is really just sliced ham which was kind of disappointing but we were curious what it was. They do have a variety of sandwiches which is nice. Our go-to is the combo with the pate. Anything with pate is great but of course that's only if you like pate. You can now pay easily with credit card by touchless payment. I've never really been a fan of the pickled carrots and daikon ‍ Combination with extra mayo, extra pâté, peppers, no pickled daikon or carrots. that's my order! and it always hits the spot! My family has been coming here for years. It's close to my grandma's house and we normally go here for the baguettes for our Vietnamese beef stew or chicken curry. My mom stopped by to order some baguettes but ended up buying some Bánh Cuon for me as well. They have a variety of food party trays for sale. $15 per bánh cuon tray. Most of the owners have since passed away and nobody wants to work long hours without benefits anymore in the land of stock options. This is the last one which still has the variety and low prices similar to 45y ago. Much more diverse menu options than a bahn mi only place. Used to be multiple locations now only 1 for this brand. Changing demographics. Very high volume of customers buying 1-2 16oz containers of steam table selections to go. Hot steam table: large variety. 1 item $10.00, 2 items $13.00 with choices not seen in other locations because of cost. Things which arent common: bamboo, big chunks of different types of fish, catfish, saba, small sardines,. Bitter melon both stuffed and stir fried versions. Bamboo shoots, the larger roots cut and sauteed. Multiple braised pork belly entrees, min 2 different types. One is roasted crisp the other is braised. Open early for elderly crowd on food stamps. Large choices of veggie dishes including bamboo + steamed spicy pork. No reviews on porridge. They use broken rice which is different than the the version with all the rice grains broken down. In the old days they paired it with a roast pork or roast duck protein. Those days are gone. You can pick with any protein they have in stock. Ground pork which they use in banh cuon, seafood options(shrimp, sardines, saba, any fish they have in stock) which they use for the steam table dishes. $14.75. Bakery: fresh baked bread, waffles, anything to keep costs down. Freshly made banh cuon, $15/tray, cheaper than the specialized banh cuon bakeries. They make profit from the high volume and don't have to raise prices on everything to break even. Banh Gio: $3.50, like lotus wrapped sticky rice but this replaces rice flour for the rice and uses a seasoned ground pork and mung bean for texture contrast. Delicious. I see elderly come in when they open and this is an affordable bfast option without high fat or sugar. Banh Mi: $8.50, they don't skimp on the meat. Better filling quality than the specialized banh mi only places in ESJ. They have lost tehir #1 rating to Duc Huong on Story Rd. Bun Rieu: Couldn't finish the crab balls. Very authentic, slightly sweet -sour from the tomato broth and added lemon slices. Contrast in texture w noodles, hand formed crab pork balls and home made pork broth w the BR seasoning. I visit Thanh Huong a lot and the banh mi's are very good! We usually get the chicken banh mi or the Chinese sausage/fried egg banh mi. They are great portions and the bread is amazing. It is a great go to spot. This trip I got the shrimp spring rolls. It comes with 3. These spring rolls were good, but the shrimp was small. The spring rolls also were full of bean sprouts and mint but I wish there was more noodles inside. The parking lot is small, but they have a private lot. this review is just for the food, mainly the bread. The bread here is absolutely so soft and buttery and delicious. It goes perfectly with all of the delicious meals that my Vietnamese friends families cook. I was also looking for a local place that makes banh da lon and here they have five pieces for $4.50. For how much I love this dessert I find that absolutely worth it! I live nearby here, so I definitely wanna try all of the readily made foods that they have. I've been coming to this banh mi place since I was a kid, and I have always loved them! Every banh mi I get has great proportions, yummy taste, and is just so good. They really do pack it in, and it's a pretty large baguette too. Even after moving out of the bay, I'll always come back here whenever I'm in the area. Parking is never an issue, and the service is good. I never really stay inside to eat, but every time I go, it's pretty clean and everything is organized well. Parking was a bit empty when I arrived to this place and it's close to Great Mall. I was looking around Vietnamese restaurants that serve Bahn Mi sandwiches around where I live. I wasn't really surprised when the interior of this place has products all over the lobby, but that is considered fine since some of these restaurants are like that. I gotta say, some of the best and most authentic foods do come from hole-in-the-wall establishments. Thanh Huong delivers with you want some authentic Vietnamese food. From plates to sandwiches, to even sriracha, Thanh Huong will most likely satisfy some of your cravings--at the minimum. Located right next to Pho Kim, it's not in the same lot though--no car access if you park in either lot trying to access the other location. That said, there is plenty of parking in the private lot. Walking into Thanh Huong, it looks like two separate vendors in a food court--I don't know if it is separate or not. With some seating available and a food court atmosphere, you can dine in the store or you can take your food with you. I think most take their food to-go. They have servers for their respective locations and they're just fairly stoic. They're not friendly, but they're not mean. They're just there to take your order, make your food, or serve you. My wife and I came for the Vietnamese Sandwiches (all are $8 each) and a spring roll (also $8). They were well made and really hit that spot. I also saw a bunch of sriracha bottles! I also like that the bread isn't crunchy like other banh mi places to the point where the roof of my mouth is destroyed afterwards.
