Steak Fries and Classic Philly Cheese Steak (Large)
Anthony R.

I'd break this place down into pros and cons but thankfully the pros outweigh the cons in a good way. Pros: This location looks like it was remodeled and that's a plus. It feels modern, clean and always pleasant when dining in. I usually stop by during non-peak hours, so the cook is often also the cashier. Honestly, that worked in their favor. The guy making my sandwich had that classic cheesesteak shop swagger I've seen when visiting family back east in New Jersey and Philly. Calm, cool, friendly and confident. It felt authentic. I also appreciate the attention to detail. Waiting for your food while hearing the sizzling meat, onions and peppers on the grill followed by the clanging of the tools is when you know something good is coming. Taste-wise, the classic Philly cheesesteak is simple and satisfying, packed with meat and cheese. The King of Philly and Motown Philly have even more meat, and you can add onions, peppers and mushrooms. (Motown Philly is with mushrooms) taste wise, While it's not quite the same as an actual Philly cheesesteak in Philly, it definitely hits the spot. They also have solid deals. My wife and I usually go for the dinner for two, which includes a large sandwich, fries and two drinks. It's a good value and saves some money. Cons: It's on the pricey side, though that's honestly everywhere these days. For your money, I'd recommend going with a large sandwich. I tried the small 6-inch once and it didn't feel worth it. A large sandwich with a drink and fries can easily hit around $25, which is decent but not something I can do regularly. Overall, I like this place. Good food, good vibes and solid pros. Just come hungry and be mindful of the prices.

Pepper stems in my sandwich.

I like the sandwiches and the service is great. That's a 4 star rating. My only complaint is that when I bite into my sandwich the peppers still have the stems attached. Nobody wants to bite into the hard stem. It is not removed and I got two in my sandwich. This is the second time this has happened to me so it's not just that they forgot to remove it and I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Please cut off those nasty hard stems off the peppers.

First time ordering here. It's located in the same center with El Toritos, Safeway, Giorgio's, Jamba juice, Peets Coffee, Nothing Bundt Cakes and the former Red Lobster. The Cheesesteak Shop is a bit harder to find but it's on the side of Crumbl Cookies and EriksDeliCafe, facing Milpitas Blvd. The center is on the corner of Calaveras and Milpitas Blvd. Restaurant was clean. Friendly staff with a smile. I ordered a Motown, which is with mushrooms. I requested grilled onions and sweet peppers on the side. Also, they offer lots of other reiterations of a cheesesteak sandwich such as: pizza, shredded pork, barbecue, vegetarian, even chicken if you do not prefer beef. So there's something for everyone. Vegetarians can enjoy the vegetarian version along with the sides of onion rings, steak fries, tater tots, sweet potato fries, and they even have salads. The half size sandwich consisted of thin, tender beef, grilled onions, sweet peppers with American cheese. Upon unwrapping the meat amount poked out of the soft bread. The bread was soggy on the inside in the best way. Personally I love sandwiches (includimg burgers) that are moistened with natural au jus (beef juices :) Tater tots were plentiful but a bit over salted. just like fries, try to eat when it's fresh from the fryer. Since it was over salted, I'll ask for no or light salt next timd. I would recommend this place and next time I'll order a large size bc I can save the rest for later, as well as no or lightly salted.

I didn't really feel like eating a lot after the food from breakfast and lunch. So I decided to come here to try their cheesesteaks. The place is quite small and average. Not really a place for me to dine given its atmosphere. The cheesesteak is below average. I tasted more bread than the meat itself. The bread was even soggy as it was French dipped. The only good thing about the meal is the steak fries, which is sadly better than the cheesesteak. If you're just going out to eat and filtering out what's premium, then this is a place to go. It's alright but I believe that there are improvements to make.

A piece of wood

This used to be my go to spot until today. I ordered a sandwich and ended up finding 2 pieces of wood in the sandwich. DO NOT go here. It's unfortunate because I love their sandwiches too

On a week day, it's not busy. Fast food setup.... Nothing special. Philly cheesesteak with mushrooms & all the fixings... very nice & tasty . The small sandwich is probably bigger than a regular fast food burger but probably not enough. For an extra $2 ... should get the large sandwich, which was satisfying. Anyways, got my philly steak fix...

This spot had great Sammie options the meat used is more on the thick side VS the traditional thin sliced cut. Worth the price & the cheese sauce option is a game changer ! Sooooo good I'll have to deff come back.

Very Rude Staff!! My Daughter (27 y/o) My Mother in Law (66 y/o) and My grandson (10 y/o) went there to place an order on 2/10 and KEVIN an employee used vulgar words to them as he wanted to park right out front of his Job. I also called in and spoke with RANI the store manager to make the complaint because My grandson was so upset over this and hearing this man call his Mom and Great grandmother the B word Stupid B and B's that is something no child should ever witness! Then Rani when I spoke with him, started with defending him and saying he would never and that that employee wax there I don't see how telling me he is there would make me feel any better! I then said so are you telling me, if it did not happen why were the cops called out why did the security guard come over to see what was going on due to the outside occurrence and why was it that well into the evening when I called to speak with my grandson was he upset as he had tried to call me while I was at work and he wanted to talk to me! I also said why is it that 24 hours and several attempts to call and complain what was I a liar! He then at some point with no indication passed the phone to KEVIN and that in itself is rude to put someone on the phone and not tell me! Either way we all know that someone that can act like that in the very front of his job tells me that that is his character and that this isn't the first time! This Rani and Kevin both need better training and Kevin needs anger management as he surely got so bothered over a parking spot and for a parking area that is already busy with the surrounding businesses that are in that area! EITHER WAY this is not how any one should act but especially while at his place of business. Rani obviously cannot be a Manager as he allows staff to just do as they please! This is very disturbing and the disrespect is very evident. It starts from the top and clearly this place needs better management and staff that respect their paying customers and their Job as it's a representation of their selves!! Shame on these 2 and to think that they can get away with this is even more disgusting! I ENCOURAGE ALL TO SPEAK OUT ESPECIALLY IF THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ANYONE ELSE! I will contact the Milpitas Post as well as they need to know of who and how a business is being ran and how an employee is so disrespectful!

Classic spot for cheesesteaks! Came in during lunch and it was decently busy. We didn't have to wait in line, but there was limited seating. There was a lot of space for a line since the tables were lined around the walls of the restaurant. There were two people behind the counter so I thought our food would come out slow, but it came out quick! My dad and I both got half orders which were $8/each. This isn't too bad since it was super filling with bread and meat, but I think if I were super hungry, I'd need something more. I love how many different options they have on their menu!

$11 for a large hoagie (classic cheese steak with lettuce, tomato, and mayo) - loved that the roll was perfect, lettuce and tomato crisp, and steak hot. Wonderfully prepared. Friendly, fast service.

The sandwich shrunk after all the peppers were removed
Kitty M.

Pros - Decent location with close parking, indoor and outdoor seating, fountain and bottled drinks, two types of protein (chicken and beef), variety of salads, sandwich rolls are soft on the inside and chewy on the outside. Cons - Only receive 4-6 onion rings with a regular order, not all fountain drinks are available, peppers are served cold on top of the sandwich and not mixed in, grilled onions are mixed in but are chopped down into tiny pieces (grilled onions and peppers not fixed together), meat is chopped so fine that it's almost ground, small amount of meat on sandwich, meat is overly seasoned with salt, meat is very dry, tiny amount of cheese on sandwich

We thought that was a thoughtful and considerate gesture. As for myself, I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage, eggs, and cheese. It came with a side of salsa which added some freshness and helped balance the heaviness of all the meat and cheese. Overall, it was a good hefty burrito but just a little greasy. Kenny himself is another reason to visit. He's very friendly and chatty. He even took a selfie with us and displayed it on the monitor in the restaurant, which was a fun and personal touch that really made the experience memorable. The restaurant has a cozy, homey feel with rustic tables and chairs. It feels like you're visiting a neighborhood spot. The only downside is that the service is slow. Kenny is running the shop himself, and every burrito is made fresh to order. Sure your food is fresh and made with care, but it's definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry. If you have time to spare, Kenny's is well worth the visit. The food is satisfying and Kenny's hospitality is what makes this spot unique.

It's almost like walking into a thrift shop that has random things going on from hundreds of photos of Kenny with customers, US flags, a table full of military business cards, Mercedes Benz trinkets, etc etc. Please be informed that Kenny is THE only person in here which means, he's the greeter, the cook, the cashier, and entertainer lol. The food can take long for a reason and there's no music or TV anywhere so it's quiet. The furniture is random as well; some from an office space, elementary school, and an all wooden table with chairs from someone's grandma's house. Me and my co workers ordered 2 burritos: Regular steak and eggs and a steak bulgogi. We waited maybe 15 mins for our which wasn't too long. The burritos had this soft white cheese melted on top which gave the tortilla this vanilla sweetness. I didn't really like that. The steak meat was sweet but didn't have that bulgogi marinade taste. Both of our burritos tasted like a plain egg, potato, and blank steak breakfast burrito. It was nothing special but the size is huge and one can be shared by two people. The burritos came with this sweet chipotle sauce with some sweet peppers in which it did add some flavor. Kenny is the man though! He's super nice and proud. He's very entertaining and enjoys talking to his guests. His son is in the army so it's one of the reasons why he's very patriotic. Is it a bit much?! Sure, but this cafe wouldn't be what it is without all of this randomness. It's a neighborhood gem and a historic landmark in this side of town. Kenny is well known to the area and is beloved. We enjoyed his company. Thank you so much Kenny!!

I had the double bacon burger with Swiss cheese and it was delicious. Did not feel heavy, going down and sitting in the stomach like some other burgers do. Obviously as a burger it's not gonna be completely light either, but it had a very nice weight about it. Also, they do not cook an oil, and smash it, so it doesn't have that greasy feel to it. It was not overly spiced, but just the right amount to give it really good flavor. Also got the onion rings, which were very lightweight but thick and very tasty. Probably one of the best onion rings. I've tried. And the best part is that they're not oily like other places. The chocolate brownie shake was really good, and strangely refreshing for a chocolate milkshake that normally would feel heavy. Really nice flavor, not overly sweet, with a really good amount of whipped cream added to it. My girlfriend had the regular burger, which she enjoyed and the cheesy fries, which they gave us a little extra to share. Some reviews think that they taste like "standard fare" fries from other fast food places, whereas we found them to be very tasty. The common denominator is that they make very good food, for an affordable price, not too cheap not too expensive, and they cook it in front of you so it's not instant like you're used to at McDonald's or some other place. But as well worth the wait. Definitely a place to come visit. This was in their Milpitas, CA location.

The place turned out great with the old fashioned retro red color style interior and the experience was wonderful. Good vibes and positive feelings when walking into it. My lady server provided excellent service and the Hispanic male worker was quick and efficient. Place is clean and menu had good variety of selections. Breakfast is served all day while lunch items start at 11am. My breakfast was very fulfilling and total was $25.30 with everything included. I paid in cash and tipped them $5. Loved my sweet lady server. There was another older woman at the cash register. She's a local as well. I really enjoyed the stop. I had the Fajitas Omelette breakfast and the steak meats in it were very generous. Delicious breakfast exactly as I had expected. My onions green peppers potatoes were perfect with a side of salsa. Sourdough toast was delicious with the garlic butter taste. I really came for my favorite hot chocolate with whipped cream in the morning. I do miss big American breakfasts, especially in these old fashioned and traditional retro spots. Love it. Why didn't I visit this place much earlier? We moved to Milpitas about a year ago and my son started going to Mil's and is a current 'Regular'. They have good food. So after a while, my husband and I started going there and we too started going there pretty regularly for breakfast, at least once or twice a week. All in all, between the family we drop a few hundred a week. And we do tip well. Most of the wait staff knows us. Today, my husband had to stop on his way home to use the restroom. He doesn't look homeless or unkempt in anyway. When he asked, they told him he couldn't unless he's a 'paying customer'. This was to a newer employee he hadnt seen before. He proceeded to explain that we eat here regularly and she still said no. He asked to speak to the manager, who does know him. He too said no. I find it ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that for a supposed family atmosphere restaurant, they couldn't extend a small courtesy. What exactly was it going to take away from them? As mentioned, we drop a good chunk of change there, and they didnt want to help out a patron that frequents the restaurant? Well, have no fear, we will NEVER darken your doorstep EVER again.

I ordered a burger, my wife had the chicken tenders, and we shared an order of cheese fries. The burger arrived completely undercooked. The pictures don't even do it justice--it wasn't just rare, it was raw. After a few bites I realized the meat wasn't even warm in the center. Since they use pre-formed patties, I'd think cooking them consistently would be one of the easier things to get right. By the time I realized how raw it was, I'd already eaten a few bites, and the meal was ruined. We ended up spending about $50 on a lunch that was essentially inedible. We got 4 Garlic Shrimp orders and 1 Curry Tonkatsu and 4 ice cream tacos to try. The Curry Tonkatsu was bomb. The Japanese influence Curry was good with the rice and a perfect pairing to the crispy tonkatsu cutlet. I wished I had ordered more servings of this over the Garlic shrimp. The Garlic Shrimp was good but a tad too dry. We needed a garlic sauce to compliment the garlic rice. There was a bit too much raw chopped garlic mixed vs sautéed chopped garlic. Hopefully they make the adjustment. Kids loved the roscoes ice cream tacos for $5 each. We wanted more of the Youngsters (cookies and cream) but it only allowed us to order 1 as it was probably the last one in stock.
