I was just in town for a college visit at Embry Riddle. We were driving down the road and just randomly picked this place. First off there is GREAT service! The waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and kept our drinks full. Food came out fast and HOT. Food had great flavor and fires were perfect. We went here twice in two days recently while staying in Ormond Beach. After a lousy couple of other places we tried we figured we'd play it safe and come back here. We felt comfortable right away in the high-backed booths even though the place was packed. The prices are very reasonable and the service excellent. We had the same waitress both times and she was great. The hostesses were also friendly and the staff all had smiles on their faces. I had the fish fry and my girlfriend had the bisque and fish sandwich. We finished it all and enjoyed our time there. General good vibe throughout the restaurant both times we went. There is a bar and a few TVs playing sports and a few toy vending machines for the kids. No matter how crowded it just didn't seem loud like most restaurants are. This is not fine dining but good food nonetheless. We felt very comfortable and will be back. It's right on the main drag a few miles north of Daytona. We'll be back again. read more

Went for an early dinner. Great attentive staff. No wait for waitress she was at our table as soon as we were seated and took our drink order. I got a strawberry margarita which was good but alittle too sweet. Cheese sticks were great. He got the fried fish which was tilapia ( i would have too but i widh it were flounder not tilapia). He said besides the dunlawton bridge it was the best fish and coleslaw. I got the chicken sandwich which had alot of cheese and bacon and it came with a pile of fries. Cant wait to go back. Where to start? The Crab Bisque was good and it goes down hill from there. Parking is atrocious. There is none. It was a zoo. I ordered a ribeye and got something else. I questioned the waiter and he came back and said it was a ribeye. It was not. He then proceeded to be distant the rest of the time. I wasn't a jerk about it at all. This restaurant is one of our "go to's". They make the best wings! We get the Garlic/teryiaki. Its the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Also, I'm not a huge red meat eater but their burgers are great. Very traditional, nothing fancy. They are never greasy and they use super fresh ingredients. There is usually a wait, so i order take out. When I call they tell me 15mins. By the time i get in my car and drive the 1.5mi my food is always ready. There is a small parking lot up front that is usally full, but you can park around back. Worth the wait if you are dining in. The wait staff are always really friendly. Love them!! read more

It's been years since I've come to this restaurant but boy I should come back each time I'm FLA. I walked in around 7:15pm this Sunday night well after the dinner rush. That in itself was a good decision. I was greeted and seated quickly. My Coke arrived promptly and I took a long time pouring over what I wanted to eat. I started with a cup of lovely She Crab Soup. It was very flavorful but I added a few shakes of salt and pepper to taste. Just wished it was served just below hot but it was delicious. For my dinner I opted for Captain Brian's Seafood Sampler. It was the best decision! The crab was cooked to perfection. I relished as I broke open each segment and pulled out the soft sweet meat. The shrimps were plentiful and seasoned with a touch of Old Bay as requested. The accompanying cocktail sauce was kicking with horseradish. The garlic mashed potatoes were yummy and 100% homemade. Again I added just a touch more salt. I highly recommend this restaurant when you want to gorge and splurge on some great seafood. read more

We just came across this place. It was an unexpected jewel! We loved it, the food was so home cooked, fresh, and fast. They had everything to choose from including seafood, steaks, sandwiches, pastas, and more. The prices were the best we had found on our entire road trip. We would have eaten there more often but were not staying in the area long enough. You could tell it was good when all of the locals were eating there on their lunch breaks. read more

Went to Charlie Horse on recommendation from Lisa at Ormond Beach Brewing. We weren't disappointed with the meal or service. Knew going in there might be a wait since it was 6:00 on a Friday night. We were seated in less than 30 min. We each ordered shrimp and crab legs with a side of hush puppies. Plenty of food for us. Crab was very good and the shrimp were large. Service was friendly and attentive. Things that would have made Charlie's even better - more parking, and local beer on the menu. Our experience was great. Our server Shaira was very friendly and helpful with the menu since we were from out of town and it was our first experience there. Their seafood was reasonably priced for the quality, quantity, and flavor. My husband and I shared the mahi-mahi and grilled shrimp dinner. I have been eating their all you can eat crab legs for over 30 years. I moved away 5 years ago and visit every year and always go there for the crab legs. They raise the price every year. This year they are $65. We paid thinking that they are always good so we'll just pay it. These were the worst crab legs I've ever had in my life. They were old and shriveled up meat inside. When we went to Charlie Horse there was a wait, which it was Friday night during the dinner rush so it was to be expected. I went to the bar to get a drink & they had great deals going on for margaritas. I received my drinks quickly and the bar staff was very friendly. When we were seated the waitress was nice and we got to order quickly. I got a small cup of gumbo and then my boyfriend and I shared the Snow Crab & Shrimp dinner. I went here Sunday,16th, with my family who were visiting from Ohio. We had 10 people and two little ones. I don't feel we waited too long for our table. Our server was awesome. Sadly, I can't remember his name. I want to say Steve or Donnie. Food was great with great prices. I got the fried fish platter with fries and there was a lot of fish. Me and my husband found this place tonight for dinner and decided to give it a try. We both ordered the all you can eat crab legs. For the price 37.99 a person (no sharing) its a great value if you can actually eat that much. I liked that you can try a new side item everytime you get a refill on your crablegs. The atmosphere was nothing great and grand you couldn't see the beach and it was very small and tight inside. The service was quick as soon as we placed our order it appeared on our table piping hot. The crab bisque soup was delicious, the servers were friendly, and the place was very busy! I waited with my party (of 11 people) for only twenty minutes. For 11 people that isn't bad at all. The soup was creamy and served with a side of saltiness crackers. My friends ordered the all you can est crab and loved it! The cheesy bacon fries were also very good, and I'll definitely order those again. I had the ocean breeze drink, and it was a little sweet for my tastes. I must admit I was a bit skeptical when we first walked in it kinda looked like an old office building renovated to be a 90s style beach restaurant. I was a fool. I had the wings and ribs and couldn't be more pleased. Nice smokey flavor to the ribs and the wings tasted fresh. My garden salad was also the freshest I've had in Daytona. Our waitress Kylee was excellent; tentative but not intrusive and very knowledgeable about the menu. The prices are very fair. Great overall experience. My only regret is that I'm not a regular. P.s. This place is across from our place in Ormond beach. It stays busy. It is rare i look out of my window and there isnt a line waiting ti get in. Yesterday we went about 5 pm and waited about 20 minutes. The food and service is quick and good. We had the fish fry and the fish and shrimp. Both was about as much as we could eat. Out grandkids got shrimp and fish also and had a hefty portion. This seems to be a popular place for tourist and locals alike. I recommend. read more
