Always good. This time I did not go with crab legs, Karen did and was not disappointed. I ordered peeling each shrimp and chicken wings. The old bay seasoning on the peal & eat shrimp was spot on and the chicken wings were fantastic! I paid little extra just to have the drumsticks because I prefer them over the middle joint but large tasty properly cooked juicy well seasoned. They're very good. read more

I ordered three appetizers, two dinners, and a round of drinks for me and my two kids to share: 1/2 pound of peel and eat steamed shrimp (they were huge!), Crab cake bites, Loaded tater tots, 2 pound snow crab dinner (five clusters), with a side of fries, the Fish dinner, fried, with a side of steamed veggies. We arrived on a Tuesday night at 6 pm and waited about 45 min for our table, and then about 15 min for our order to arrive. The food came out all at once, and was all super fresh and tasty! If I were to return, I'd order exactly the same, but maybe one different side to replace the veggies (which were rather boring) to go with the fish dinner. The feast was $105 (before tip). I like to come here for Crabby Tuesday for the all-you-can-eat crab deal. The food is normally good, but lately the quality of crab became very inconsistent: twice I got chewy crab with very flaky meat - definitely not the quality I am used to. Otherwise, the wings are pretty good, but need to have a spicier option. Some of us lived in South-East Asia for a few years and might not find the American definition of "spicy" - spicy enough! Anyways, one more bad crab meal and I'm done with this place. read more

Came here on an early Sunday afternoon with my family for lunch. We were a group of 8, so I was a little nervous that we would have to wait for a table. Fortunately, we were seated right away, at a table in the back! Our waiter was awesome, and had a great sense of humor to deal with my family. This was my first time here, but some of my family members had been here before, so they knew exactly what they wanted to order. We started off with the loaded french fries and the buffalo style shrimp as appetizers for the table. I, of course, had to get the chili, while others got the crab bisque and the New England clam chowder. They were all delicious!! My aunt and boyfriend both ordered the 1 pound of crab legs as their meal ($26.99.) They each LOVED it and were able to eat the whole thing!! It was so fresh, not fishy smelling at all, and was the perfect amount. Some of the other meals ordered were the Philly Cheesesteak, steak sandwich, mozzarella sticks, fried haddock dinner, and the fajita sandwich. Everything came out quickly and yummy! I especially loved their mashed potatoes. It's located right across the street from the public beach, so it's got a pretty great view! Everyone was super friendly and the service was great. We were excited to try this place based on all the awesome reviews. Wasn't busy when we first arrived, but picked up. We were seated within 5 minutes. Food on the tables as we went by looked yummy. Cheap eats. The Mahi-mahi special and Monterey Chicken specials with salads cost less than $40. My fish was a bit over cooked, slaw isn't very good, but everything else tasted good. Side salad is worth the up-charge. Sports on TV kept freezing up during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Sorry the Canes still lost. Service was really good, great local feel and ample parking. Restaurant was a little busy when we went but we were able to get seated quickly. Our waiter was very friendly and quick as well with coming to greet us and take our drink order. Even with every table being full he brought out our drinks asap. He was very helpful when we asked questions about the menu items and was overall very respectful and friendly. The food came out quick as well and was really good. The portion to price ratio was well worth as the sandwich came with 4 large pieces of fish and a decent amount of fries. I'm not a fan of pickles but the ones there were really good and the tartar sauce was delicious. I believe it was house made bc no store bought tastes that good and it tasted like the one I've made. The restaurant itself although busy was very clean and a great family spot. 10/10 would recommend read more

This review breaks my heart. For over twenty years we've eaten at charley horse. Everyone knew us because we went that often and never had a problem. Last few times prices were high their crab that their known for was overcooked and the waitstaff wasn't real interested in your experience. The last time was jaw dropping...charley horse is busy with a line so you know to expect a wait. You give your name to the hostess, get a drink and wait. We gave our name and was told 15 min. We were unable to get the bartender to take a drink order. He would be in front of us and just ignore us. We noticed people who came in after us was being seated ans customers were taking seats at the bar when they opened. The bar is also on the hostess list. We asked the hostess how mich longer and she said "oh i didnt know you wanted me to pit your name down." We never let the hostess area. We stood about 5 ft away and its in front of the bar where we were trying to get a dink. We asked for th manager who offered to pit our name on the list. This was now at 45 min or more since we had arrived. I asked if he meant next table or bar and he said no. The manager was aware we had been there quite some time. All the people we dealt with that night were new to us. We made no complaints and left hungry. Again we waited because thats what you do. We live a mile away and have always recommended charley horse. Every out of town guest was always taken to charley horse. We are quite stung by our last experience and dont know if we'll ever go back. A few years ago this review would have been glowing. Now it's just a really bad memory. I just saw their rated 2 dollar signs. It should be 3+ they have raised prices frequently and deceased size. For over twenty years we recommended this place to hundreds as having the best crab legs and that best part you could start with 1lb and work your way up to all you can eat that ised to be more than reasonably priced. Chose to give this place a 2nd chance as we were there last year. People say good things about it. I had steak and shrimp last time. It was ok. This time I had crab bisque. It was good. Went here in order to go to a place which I hadn't been previously. I think we should have stuck with places we had visited previously. Though not new, it appears new. It's a clean looking place with very good parking, excellent friendly service and reasonable prices serving up extra-large portions of food. However, its claim to fame seems to be on the order of being "hog troth" type of place with the "all you can eat" special dinners of Alaskan crab which is more than evident by the size not only of some of their portions but more by the huge size of their overly nourished (you can read obese but just plain old "fat" will do) patrons. As for food, blah! The sandwich buns appear oversized, way too much bread for the average person to consume, commercial and flavorless. I had the fish sandwich. The fish was good, but with a cheap presentation and truck stop flavor. My overindulgent dining companion went for the Philly Cheese Steak which, if you'd show it to any of the patrons of Gino's in Philly, would have resulted in uproarious laughter since it wasn't even a reasonable facsimile of what would be acceptable as the real thing. If you want lots of food regardless of quality, full plates or are desirous of putting on extra pounds and can't find a nearby truck stop diner, this is the place for you. I'll just get right to it. The best thing about this place is definitely the crab legs. They tasted like they were steamed and most of the claws I had were nice and sweet. Everything else was very lacking. Along with the all-you-can-eat crabs, you can have all-you-can-eat sides, too. But you probably won't want it; they looked way better than they tasted. The cole slaw tasted like cabbage in water and the green beans tasted like they were straight from the can. The red potatoes, however, those were pretty tastey and covered in garlic. I hate to admit it but for the amount of money we paid, I would rather just make the drive out to Boston Lobster in Orlando where the entire meal is excellent. I have to mention that although our dinner wasn't too impressive, our server was amazing. He refilled drinks and crab legs without us having to lift a fishy finger. Loved him! read more

The food was average. I had the chicken Alfredo because the waitress told me it was good. It's was okay 6/10. The main issue was the service. They were super nice, but it's like they kept forgetting about us. It took us forever to get our food (and they weren't very busy) then when we were done we waited and waited for a check that never came. We tried to go up to the counter and no one was assisting up. Eventually someone came and we were able to check out. Overall not a bad place to go, but there is definitely better. read more

Sorry it didn't live up to other reviews. We had mixed platters of seafood. Husband had Brian's seafood platter with crab legs, filet of cajungish, and steamed shrimp. Crab legs were very hard to eat. Meat stuck in shell, barely could get them out. Fish was no name fish. Okay. Not great. Boiled shrimp was seasoned with old bay. That was good. The cocktail sauce was congealed telling me it was put in tiny containers yesterday, no spice or horseradish. Disappointing. My fried fish was okay, again just a no name type of bland ehitefish with tinge of iodine taste. Mini Crab cakes dry, claims were run of the mill frozen then fried, not fresh. Fried shrimp okay.
