In the hotel lobby of the Archer hotel in downtown Napa. Seating is ample, both regular tables as well as 'high benches'. If you go on Friday or Saturday evenings, they have live music in the lobby. The service was attentive, but not too much. Brought the food out in waves to ensure they were nice and hot. The drinks were good as was the food, if you're staying at the Archer this is a pretty solid option for drinks and appetizers. We didn't have the steaks as we were looking for lighter fare. I had yogurt, granola and fruit with a Chai and a two days later the ricotta pancakes with green smoothie. Those were some of the best pancakes I've had in a restaurant. I love orange zest and mint with fruit, so that hit well. Dinner featured lovely shrimp cocktail, with a well flavored cocktail sauce. The Hamachi Crudo was fun to eat, light and refreshing. A rooftop garden supplies wonderful herbs and heirloom tomatoes. The refined chicken had an interesting and delightful presentation. I am not sure who's giving Charlie Palmer a bad review but I love it here. I love the bartenders. I love my Aji tacos. My deviled eggs are always so delicious and a happy hour is always so good. It's nice and quiet sometimes and sometimes it's busy and sociable, but I like it and that's what it's supposed to be. It's a very popular bar and people love it here. Not sure why has bad reviews. Not sure if it's understaffed or they're just not aware of the tables they are serving. My boyfriend and I came in for Valentine's Day, it's our favorite restaurant. They make THE best steak and their sauces are all amazing. Not only is their food the best, but the whole experience: the staff, the manager, the atmosphere. They treated us so kind and warmly. The hotel staff accidentally made our reservation for the wrong day so when we showed up, the hostess didn't seem to want to help tbh, but the manager and servers were so accommodating and welcoming, despite being fully booked. The staff, especially Hannah and Sophie, and including restaurant manager Mark Sawyer, were warm and friendly and made us feel like we were personal friends. The prix fixed dinner was probably the best dinner I've had in a very long time! There were things on the menu, like a celery root puree, (which I'd never heard of before) that tasted like the best mashed potatoes ever. The steak filet was swoon worthy, and large enough that I had 2 dinners out of it. The appetizers were yummy, and the chocolate hazelnut dessert was sinfully delicious! My girlfriend and I enjoyed a dinner here for Thanksgiving. The price was $95 per adult. The atmosphere itself was fantastic, although the tables for two were pretty small for everything that crowded the table. The service was pretty average, nothing out of the ordinary. The meal began with the butternut squash soup and chicory salad. The soup was delicious, it was my second time trying butternut squash soup, the first being less enjoyable. The crème fraiche really added to the flavor. The chicory salad was okay. I'd associate that rating more-so to my taste preferences rather than it actually being bad. The Parker Rolls with the whipped butter were delicious (not pictured), as was the mashed potatoes (not pictured) and the sourdough stuffing (not pictured) was a first for me, but again very good. Charlie Palmer steak in Archer hotel in Napa is a great restaurant but I wouldn't call it a "steakhouse". As a local, I've been here several times over the last five years for both breakfast and dinner. The restaurant layout is comfortable, In fact pretty casual. The service here has always been top-notch, but there has been a few changes over the years and I understand the margins are narrow but the food quality has gone down. I particularly noticed that for the tomahawk steaks. We came for Christmas dinner where they also offered prime rib as part of the Christmas set menu ($85). What I found strange is the meat quality of the prime rib was the same as a tomahawk and ribeye. It was very lean with no flavor. It is unlike any other Tomahawks I've had here over the years. I can only conclude that the quality of the meat for the steaks has changed. There's no marbling , no flavor and I get seasoning is always to taste, but it was bland. Some other changes include a $45 corkage fee even for wines from Napa before it was no charge if the wine you brought was from Napa. There's also a fee for bread service. As far as ambience, if you're sitting to the right in the area of the lobby, the lights above are so bright that it just takes away from the ambience and the intimacy of dinner and makes it more like a cafeteria. The cream spinach was just too thick and soggy. Sadly, we cancelled our dinner plans for New Year's Eve dinner here because I don't trust the inconsistency of the food. I do hope they re-look their protein supply and bring back to greatness their steaks. I probably won't return. read more

Came here for a retirement dinner with a large party. We enjoyed warm, buttery bread while waiting for our food. I ordered the summer panzanella salad which was a delicious starter. It featured toasty croutons for a nice crunch and stone fruit (cherries and peaches) for some sweetness. The vinaigrette was was wonderfully mixed in; 10/10 recommended this starter dish. For my entree I had the scallops which were perfectly seared and paired nicely with a pea purée, asparagus spears, and snap peas. We decided to give Charlie Palmers Napa Neighbor menu a try (Mondays) and were greeted pleasantly on arrival. My friend had made reservations earlier but tonight didn't look too busy but better to be safe than wait. Our server was a delightful gentleman and explained the Neighborhood Menu to us. It's a 3 course meal consisting of salad, entree then dessert for $55. We both ordered the same except for dessert. The Napa Caesar Salad came out first and we both thought the dressing was underwhelming. We agreed if we came back to give whatever other salad a try. Then came out the Steak Frites and it was tasty and surprisingly a good amount of meat with yummy crispy fries. My friend got the Chocolate dessert and I got the Pistachio one. As we shared each other's dessert we both thought the Chocolate was good but very rich. The Pistachio dessert was flavorful and much lighter. Since I'm more partial to Pistachios I thought mine was a bit better. Our server suggested we take half a spoonful of each and that was a great call. I think Charlie Palmer has just stopped trying at this point his restaurant in healdsburg is also equally dated and just doesn't seem to have anything new or exciting going on, not only with the menu but also the decor and aesthetic of the establishment. The NY steak came out medium well - ordered med-rare. The potato gratin was raw in the middle. And the mashed potatoes were ok but mid for the price could have been hotter and creamer. There's literally only like 8 tables and then a bar area. So if your group exceeds 6 it may be hard to get in if they're booked. (Also, shoutout to our waitress, she was so kind/patient to our 18-month old who was a handful. We'd definitely order food in the lounge area so the kid can run around) So they market their sides as shareable- I don't think they are. Maybe if there's only 2 people but honestly you may have to order duplicates for a larger group. Of the appetizers I'd reorder the broccolini and keep it simple with the edge salad or lamb lollipops for appetizers. Skip the mac and cheese - it's bland Honestly I thought the steaks were okay. Suprise early V-day trip from hubby, had dinner here as part of our day. Limited dinner and cocktail menu, but we were able to pick a few things that we thought we would enjoy. We had the octopus for appertizer, and hubby didn't care for the texture. Ceasar salad, which our waiter kindly split for us before serving it. Nothing special here, tasted as if the dressing came out of a bottle, 1 small piece of Procuito which tasted old and greasy and a few croutons. For dinner hubby ordered the pork chop, which he really loved, said it was cooked to perfection. It came with roasted broccoli and apple cranberry chatney. I choose the 18oz rib eye w/ chimicuri sauce on the side and au gratin potatoes. The steak was absolutely delicious. It was like cutting into butter. It was season and cooked perfectly for my taste. We also liked the au gratin potatoes, very cheesy and full of flavor. I was very happy with the steak, sauce, and potatoes as well as hubby with the pork chop dinner plate. The rest was just kinda blah. I'm not sure we would return again due to limited options and only really liking the dinner plates vs. the balance of the meal as we prefer a full enjoyable experience, not just half.
