We had a great dinner at Napkins with a party of six and were seated outside on the patio. I was a little disappointed by the limited selection of red wines available by the glass, especially since I really wanted a glass with dinner. They did have several nice bottles to choose from, though. Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and took great care of our table. We started with the pastry appetizer and the mushroom arancini balls. Both were good, but neither was anything that completely blew us away. My husband and I both ordered the halibut, and it was fantastic. The portions were generous, the fish was incredibly flavorful, and we both absolutely loved it. Everyone else at our table was also very pleased with their meals. The only unpleasant part of the evening was not really the restaurant's fault. The people seated next to us kept putting their small dogs on the table and allowing them to eat off their plates and lick the table. I have dogs and fully support bringing them along to dog-friendly restaurants, but that felt very unsanitary. I do think someone from the restaurant should have asked them to stop, although I'll give the staff the benefit of the doubt that they may not have seen it. He told us about the specials and I took him up on the special: shrimp ravioli in lobster sauce. Sadly, it was very bland and lacked the "lobster" flavor in the thick sauce. The drinks were awesome. Totally recommend the drinks: Midnight in Italy and Fume Midnight in Italy was basically a very well served Manhattan. But it was gloriously served. Giant cube ice cube, really lovely rye whiskey and the perfect orange garnish that added to the senses as you sipped Fume arrived in a light fixture like glass box that you open to retrieve your drink. It's filled with smoke to add to the drink's experience. My hands smelled like smoke hours after the dinner. The drink was tasty. The grilled pineapple was tasty. But it was more showy than tasty. Baker brie was insanely delish. It was the best baked Brie I had. Perfectly balanced with the honey and pistachio. The iceberg wedge salad was as you would've expected. Decent sized Maybe we didn't ordered the dishes that they were most popular for so I was disappointed. Will have to come back and try another round. Especially for the drinks. read more

The citrus habanero chicken is one of the best dishes I've ever had!!! The chicken was cooked absolutely perfectly, the skin had amazing texture, the portion size was generous, and both the potatoes and vegetables compliment the chicken really well. We are so glad to find this place at last minute on a Friday in Napa! I'm surprised it's not busy because the food is amazing!! I highly recommend the halibut I got. The fish is tender and fresh. It even came with a grilled prawn. What I even love more is the side dishes which is charred cauliflower, asparagus and potatoes. Thanks to the Napa happy hour website I was tuned into the fact that this place has a wonderful happy hour. It was within walking distance of my hotel. They have quite a large bar. When I first sat down I was only provided the dinner menu, but soon after asking about happy hour I was given the secret and special menu. I got the cucumber jalapeño margarita along with a Caesar salad and an order of calamari. I was delighted when it arrived in the calamari also included crispy green beans and a tasty Sriracha aïoli. The bartender was very friendly. The playlist of music was amazing; an eclectic and funky mix of 70s and 80s. If you are in Napa, this is worthy of a visit. Happy hour runs until 6 PM and I believe it starts at 3 PM. read more

I had a lovely time at Napkins Bar and Grill. We had planned to eat a different neighboring establishment but the wait was too long. Thankfully, Napkins could fit the 4 of us in at the bar. The bartender helping us was amazing. Just so personable and he answered all of our questions, all while training a new bartender. A real professional. I'm vegetarian (mostly) and the bartender suggested the vegetable wellington to me and that dish BLEW MY MIND. I wish I were in Napa right now so that I could eat it again. It was all veggies, artfully assembled, and surprisingly delicious! My 3 friend also loved their food. Unfortunately I was so focused on my food that I have no idea what they ate or drank. The ambiance is fancy-ish and casual. I would go here on a date or even a solo nice dinner. I can't wait to go back and try the wellington again. My only bed was that the wine list was pretty short. Underrated restaurant in downtown Napa that I'm so glad we tried! With a reservation, we had hoped to get seated indoors but we were seated outside. Thankfully, the weather wasn't too cold but when it got breezy, staff was quick to turn on the heating lamps at request. The ambiance was wonderful for us for a casual intimidate-ish dinner. Definitely not upscale but also not underwhelming. Really depends on what you're looking for but it was perfect for us. Limited menu but entrees were executed perfectly, in my opinion. The braised pork was extremely tender and my husband enjoyed his steak! The chocolate cake was extremely decadent and I was overstuffed after that. But definitely would order it again. I docked a star because I felt service could have been a bit better but I'm not sure if it was because we were seated outside. It's across the street from the river. It's a classy, well appointed bar and dining setup. Service was prompt and fast. I had the Brisket Sandwich with fries and Wifey had the special Pasta which consisted of beef, wide pasta noodles in a light sauce. My shredded brisket was tender but not very flavorful, the shoestring fries however were excellent. The pasta was okay. It was okay and value likewise. While in downtown Napa, we stumbled upon this delightful place last minute while searching for a light dinner. Without a reservation, we were able to get waitlisted for an hour. The front staff and servers were very kind. While waiting to be seated (one hour wait), we were given water and also allowed to sit at the bar. The ambience is cozy and inviting. Dimmed lighting, definitely good for a quick bite while catching up and also good for groups. Wonderful customer service! The food was very good. We had ordered a few items to share -- Crab cakes, side order of steak and side of fries, and Habañero Chicken. Fulfilling and also delicious. It's definitely something to try if you're in downtown Napa. I look forward to trying other items on the menu during my next visit. Though the menu itself I found to be generic overall. However this is a solid place and I had a good experience. I got the braised short ribs entree and calamari appetizer. A flawless 10/10 anniversary celebration at Napkins! We chose Napa for our 30th wedding anniversary looking for incredible food, patio seating, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. Napkins delivered on all fronts. Our server, Samantha, greeted us with a warm, caring attitude and provided superb service throughout the evening--even bringing water and a chicken breast for our pup! The food was spectacular. My grilled salmon with beurre blanc was absolute perfection. I really had low expectations but was blown away. The others tried the burger with fries, salad with steak, and the special was lobster ravioli. Holy cannoli, the lobster ravioli. They were huge and stuffed with lobster meat. The shrimp in the seafood plate was very far, but other than that the seafood plate was good. We ordered the New England Clam Chowder to start, which was ok. A lot of clams, but lacked flavor. Wasn't thick and hearty like classic clam chowder. However, the rest of the dishes were beyond amazing which made me forget about the clam chowder. The Braised Short Ribs stole the show. Ribs were extremely tender and full of flavor. Amazing experience at Napkins! We struggled to find a dining option that was open middle of the day and a friend recommended Napkins. Samantha took excellent care of us and shared her favorite entrees/recommendations. We decided on the halibut and the short rib. INcredible! The halibut had the perfect sear with a beautiful, tangy lemony finish and paired with cauliflower hash. We were seated promptly and shocked to see they had a prefixed menu for resturant month. i typically come the first week in December so seeing resturant month was new for me. We were super exited to see this because the items we were already going to order was on that menu so we both got the 2-course selection. For my cocktail I ordered the Fall old fashioned, the way they paired by two favorite things...Fall and an old fashioned cocktail was spectacular. For my first course I ordered the Creole shrimp as my appetizer and it was served with a nice portion of shrimp in a delectable creole sauce and some bread. On to the main attraction, the star of the show...a generous portion of braised short rib! When I'm in Napa I always find myself ordering short rib and it's always so good! We decided to have one more drink that was served smoked and presented in a cage...presentation and flavor 5/5! We were a bit early for our dinner reservation but was seated upon walking in which was great considering it was a Saturday night and was pretty busy.
