My dad, who rarely ever eats breakfast, woke up this morning with a hankerin for Charlie's. Its one of his favorite places. Good home cookin, great service. Seriously great service. We're not regulars, but they do have them, and the know them all by name. The Monte Cristo was really good. Came with a choice of fruit or hash browns or country potatoes. Not too thrilled with the freshness of the fruit cup tho, the apples were a little dried out and the skins were left on everything-even the pineapple. My dad had the country fried steak and hash browns. He was either really hungry or just really excited to eat out because he finished his entire plate! That rarely ever happens. Their coffee was some of the best I've had at a diner in a really long time. Bold, but not bitter. Two thumbs up there. Minus one star for the skins on the fruit and the massive lack of handicapped parking out front, even tho it would be filled 100% of the time with this crowd, it would still be nice to have. read more

We had take out because we were in a hurry. The take out boxes were the cheapest quality, and the Benedict sauce soaked into the bottom, almost having the entree fall through. Charlie has good breakfasts but needs to spend an extra penny to get the plastic boxes. read more

First time here. My step father comes here almost daily and has always raved about it. I was in the area and decided to pop in on a Sunday about 11:30 am. We were warmly greeted immediately. I got a mocha and then they kept it warm by topping off with coffee often! I had the French toast combo and hubby had the sausage patty w 3 eggs combo cake with potatoes and he opted for the biscuit and gravy. First off, I think the sausage and bacon was about the best of any breakfast place around! And the French toast was on point too! Eggs were cooked well (medium). We learned that they make their sausage patty in house. It had a good char on it and great flavor. We loved how they make their potatoes slicing them the long way, it made for the perfect potatoey taste along with crisp on outside. Had grilled onion and bell pepper on top too. Over all, we were very pleased with everything from the warm service to the great home style cookin! We will Definitely be back! On the way out we noticed these GIANT cinnamon rolls too, we will try one next time. read more

Drove out from Rancho to try this place, and it was worth the drive. It's obviously a popular spot, because even at 9 AM on a Sunday morning, it was very busy. I Walked in, and I was seated immediately. The place is like a little country café, with checkerboard tablecloths. Everything was clean, and everybody was friendly. They took my coffee order right away. The coffee was good, and they kept my cup full. I decided to go with the roast beef omelette. Roast, beef, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, spinach, and cheese. I asked my server if she could replace the bell peppers with mushrooms, and she said no. How hard is it to swap one veggie for another? I know it's not because it's pre-mixed, because she did have them take off the bell pepper.. And yet, she let me substitute my potatoes for fruit. One small glitch, not worth taking off a star over. The omelette came, and it was big! The roast beef was tender and seasoned very well. It had just the right amount of cheese, and the veggies were very good. I got a very nice bowl of fruit, and I could've had biscuits and gravy, but I just chose the biscuit. Light and fluffy. A fantastic meal at a decent price. If you get a chance, check out the flag in the back of the restaurant near the restrooms. It's in honor of a marine who served in Afghanistan. Very special, indeed. A great breakfast. I tried this place recently but I didn't like that they interrupted my convo w family every 10 seconds. The waiters march around spying on you to see if you steal anything but plz don't interrupt my table n my convo. That is disrespectful n I won't come back. I don't see my family often. read more

The food was horrible! Egg shells in my omelette and no white bread? Sent my hash browns back to be crisped a little, still came out soggy. And the server literally threw our food on the table and said "enjoy" as she was walking away. When she finally came back I mentioned that she was a bit abrupt and she argued with me. First timers! Great experience. We arrived right before 10am and there was a little bit of a wait (as expected). We were seated as quickly as a booth opened up and the staff was extremely quick and friendly (and let me tell you, the place was busy)! The food was yummy and definitely homemade. My mom kept commenting on the country potatoes (pictured on both plates) because they were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I had the Battlefield Benedict and it was was flavorful. It was packed with bacon, avocado and spinach. Very filling. My mom had the Kitchen Sink Omelette and she enjoyed it a lot. It was huge (she took some to go). Was going to go here for the first tine. Saw it while drive by. Parked walked up. Open sign was on, opened the door and was net by a lady that was very rude and u friendly. Lady said we're CLOSED!!! We closed at 1:00!. Very rudely and with attitude. I said we'll the open light is on. And she just replied with well it hasn't been turned off yet. So we turned around and went back to the car. Get in the car pull my phone out and its exactly 1:00. We will NEVER go there now. I can understand not wanting customers a coupke minute before closing. After being a customer and someone who has going here for 20 years - We were there this week and The owner was the warmest she has ever Been. She was helpful and kind not her normal gruff self. I payed the bill at the counter and left to have my guest info me of a Maga sign at the counter. Something home made looking. After a few days.MY guest decided to call and talked with the owner. This is what was said on the phone. She said make America great again is a cult and I said yes it is and I'm never coming back there again. I've been coming there for 30 years and she said oh that's fine and I hung up. Well, she seems proud of the fact that she's MAGA, so maybe that just needs to be said. Let me start by first acknowledging how attentive our waitress was as well as the rest of the staff. We almost had everything without even having to speak. They were on top of it. Bravo for that. The location is very unsuspecting and kind of hidden... I almost didn't think this restaurant was in this plaza because how could it be? Well it is. It's clean and very cozy. The retro game at the front you can play while you wait is a fun touch!! And last but definitely not least... THE FOOD! So delicious. Just thinking about my plate is making my mouth water. The homestyle potatoes were like the traditional homestyle version and a potato wedge had a baby. Been in 3x in the last 6 months. The food was consistent with flavor, appearance and overall quality. May be the best tasting bacon on the planet. The burgers are always great, but I wish they'd cook the fries just a bit longer/hotter. The service is what's not consistent. Some staff are just amazing at their job while others seem lost in the sauce. Why does the young guy have to touch my coffee cup to refill it? He'll pick it up 3 inches off the table completely touching the rim just to refill it from the pot. Why not just leave it alone, not touch it and fill it as it sits on the table. I noticed he does this at every table. Great way to spread germs because he's not sanitizing between touching coffee cups. Just gross. Haven't tried any breakfast beside the biscuits n' gravy and that was pretty good. All Bfast orders I've seen look great. We will be back. read more

This western cowboy country small diner is great!! All from the staff greeting you, to the quick service, to even the prices! The moment you walk in it's "how's it going sweetheart?" And "what can I get for you hun?" They are super sweet! Before you even sit down it's "so what do u wanna drink honey?" The food was delicious! I ended up getting the Ham Eggs Benedict (which is the "regular") but they have so many different kinds like Veggie or with extra meats. It also came with your choice of potatoes or hash browns! Before I could take a picture I had already eaten half of the plate! I also ended up getting coffee which even by itself was delicious! I usually love black coffee but in other diners it comes out burnt, so I've gotten used to the bitter taste. But this coffee had that slight hint of cocoa that all coffee should have! I did feel bad though because I was the last customer. A lot of the service is quick and out, so with being a slow eater, I would suggest early morning and not 12pm breakfast! They close earlier than 2pm like it says on their website so it really is a diner for the early riser! I ended up paying $17ish dollars for the Eggs Benedict and coffee without tip included! Hosted my team Christmas party and would definitely use this restaurant again. I arrived early and the staff had our tables set and all condiments ready for use. We sat next to the Christmas tree and all the stockings which was a pleasant surprise. We had over 10 people and our orders all came hot timely and delicious. Where to start?! We've lived 1 stoplight down the road for 6 years now and can't believe we've never stepped foot in the place until this morning! It's located in an unappealing strip mall. We imagined the place would be old and run down w a dreary atmosphere and smell which is why we always passed it by but this morning we ventured inside. Straight away we were shocked. We were greeted immediately by upbeat staff who took our drink before we even sat! They are very friendly and fast! You could smell the cleanliness and the dining room was immaculate. With so many delicious items on the menu, it took some time to order. We were very satisfied with our meals and kept talking about how we couldn't believe we haven't been here before! I give this place a solid 6.5 out of 10. I'll start with the good first. Portions are huge, prices are great. The potatoes are 10/10. The service was ok but the lady had no idea what gluten free was and made it seem like cleaning a part of the grill to cook the food on was out of the question. This place is old school so don't expect any modern kind of service. The eggs on my benny were cooked perfectly. The sauce was lacking salt and lemon. The onion rings were good but the ranch was terrible. The biscuit was 3/10 I'm not sure how you can go wrong on a biscuit but it happened. No flavor, weird texture. The chicken fried steak was decent. I thought the atmosphere fit the restaurant. It's a little old school whole in the wall. For the prices and portions alone I'll be back. read more

I came across this place by accident, lucky me. I've been here four times. I've never been disappointed with the food and I have to say most impressively is the service in the atmosphere. I'm a little old-school I get when the crowd is busy and it's crowded, but always courteous. I guess it's nice to find a place That has a very good vibe. I believe I'm a customer for a very long time. Haven't had a chance to try the cinnamon rolls but believe me that day is definitely coming. My wife and I went here for the first time today and We loved it!! I think everyone working came by our table to ask if we needed anything,fill up our water etc. The food was great!! I don't know if the biscuits are baked from scratch but they were so good.We got a cinnamon roll to go and omg it was great warmed up with some butter. I would suggest bring your own vanilla creamers for your coffee as they don't have any and we are fine with that. This review is for a breakfast visit. The overall atmosphere, service and food is like walking into a small town cafe but in a big city. It's a fixture in the community where a lot of locals come in with their neighbors or friends and have meal. Charlie makes an effort to get to know her costumer welcoming you when you return. The food portions is a value compared to what you pay. I have not had a bad meal here after several visits.
