These guys are GREAT! I have an inherent skepticism with mechanics, and the place that I took my car to before Charlie's (who shall remain nameless) quoted me $3000 of repairs to the brakes, control arm, and transmission. For a 2001 Saturn, just a nonstarter. When I brought it to Charlie's, their mechanics found no immediate issues with the brakes, no issue at all with the control arm, and a slight issue with the transmission which they fixed. Furthermore, they did find a rather immediate issue with the engine mounts, which explained why my car sounded like a jalopy recently. Total cost: Under $300. I live in the Bay Area, but am originally from Fresno. In the future, I think I'll just wait on major repairs until I can get my car in with Charlie. read more

I found Charlie's Automotive here on Yelp a few months ago when I was looking for a second opinion on my car. Prior to coming to Charlie I would always bring my car to Future Ford for service however one time they steered me away when they gave me a quote of $1400 to replace hoses that they were suppose to replace in a prior service I already paid for. Brought my car to Charlie who not only cleared the code but informed me that the car is perfectly fine! And he let me know that if/when that type of service would need to be done it wouldn't be nearly 50% of the quotes price of Future Ford. Since then Charlie is the only person my husband and I trust to work on our cars. Was able to find a lower priced option at another trustworthy place. First off, let me say that I hate having to get my car fixed. It's always been a bad experience for me, but when my car died on me I was SO happy I found Charlie! He was straight forward about figuring out the problem, and there was no BS from this guy. He checked out my car, told me I needed a new alternator, fixed it, and had it back to me that same day! In the last two months I had noticed a suspicious noise and vibration from my vehicle. Since I'm always on the road, I stopped at a mechanic shop in San Francisco and the mechanic advised it was my front motor mount. $687.00 later, the vehicle had the same vibration. I took the vehicle back and the mechanic said I needed a complete tune up, $587.00 later the vibration became worse. I returned to Fresno and took my vehicle into the dealership on two occasions and they said the vehicle was missing because when I had a tune up they did not replace the parts with Original manufacturer equipment and they replaced the parts and yes... $543.00 later. Yeah, you figured it out... The vibration persisted and became worse. I finally called Sean Harrell and with my description of the vibration he immediately said it was my motor mounts. I told him I had one replaced and he said on my vehicle it has three. I took my vehicle into Charlies Automotive repair in Clovis. Charlie looked at it and said its the motor mounts. Keep in mind every other mechanic asked me for a code??? Apparently, mechanics only repair what the computer on the car tells them. However, a true mechanic like Charlie's had it pegged out just by me describing the problem... The moral of my story and review is if you ever get that sneaking suspicion when you take your car in for repair that you're overpaying or getting needless work done... I strongly suggest taking your car to Charlies Automotive Repair you'll get service you can trust with top notch mechanics who know what they are talking about. Oh yes.... I got my car towed there at 8am in the morning and got it back at 11am. I was really happy because I'm a college student, I and need my car to get to work + school. I took it back, and they said if it is the something they did, it will be free, but if it is something new it will cost more money. I fully expected to get a call saying it was something new and that I had to pay again, but that did not happen. Part of what they repaired was the problem so they did not charge me anything.
