Passing through the area and was looking for a place that wasn't a chain restaurant. Greek food sounded good so we walked into Charlie's. A large restaurant with a diner feel to it. Our waitress was very nice and the menu was huge, so we took some time to look it over. She brought over waters and we went with Greek food. Got some delicious wraps. I ordered fries and expected it on the side, they came inside and when I saw the size of the wrap I knew why! Wow!! Huge portions and very tasty gyros. Prices were very affordable, felt like I was dining out 20 years ago! We left happy and full without breaking the bank and left a very nice tip. Great place to stop by that isn't a boring chain restaurant!

The only thing I can say about this restaurant is that everyone was very kind. Would not eat here again simply because the food was no good. Soggy spinach pie and canned green beans was not what I was expecting.

I really can not write a fair review for Charlie's from our recent visit since we were never waited on. We stopped for an early dinner this Thursday. When we arrived and walked in we sat in one of the front booths. There were two different waitresses that looked our way but never greeted us or acknowledged us. We continued waiting until other customers came in and sat down. They were handed menus almost as soon as they sat down. At this point I told my husband I was not going to stay any longer. I really doubt I will be stopping back any time soon.

Charlie Mac is spaghetti soup with hotdog meat. Barf

Since when is chili Mac, "Charlie mac", swimming in dirty looking water? I didn't eat it! You assholes put all that liquid in there, and now it's on my front seat. Why???? I wasn't rude even though I waited for a damn order that I called in an hour prior. You weren't busy. The food looked nasty when I opened the soaked bag and now I need to get my seat shampood. There is no reason except terrible customer service standards and laziness.

Terrible food. Wilted veggies, slimey tomatoes on sandwiches. No flavor in any of the food we ordered. Will not go back.

Attempted to order two items from the menu and was told neither was available. Asked if a salad could be made without dairy, was told no.

Charlie's has great Greek diner fare - and great chili dogs. The only thing this place needs is friendlier, more attentive staff.

Manos is a Toledo institution…read more There are certain items on Mano's menu that I cannot find anywhere else, and frankly I don't want to. The baked feta... a 1/3 brick of feta broiled with red pepper flakes and olive oil is hands down my favorite way to eat this flavorful cheese. The fact that they use GOOD feta goes a long way to making this a delicious way to start a meal. Spread on bread or pita, it's divine. For me, the go-to entree is the patio platter. I get mine without rice, which means the plate is piled high with green beans, fresh tomatoes, green peppers and Manos' consistently absurdly strong white onions. The sliced sausage is strongly flavored and goes great with the veggies. I've had it more times than practically any other food item in the city of Toledo. All of Manos' vegetarian dishes are sure to please. I love his Spanakopita. Mushier than you may find elsewhere, but it's still delicious. To that point, most dishes feel homemade. Presentation changes based on the day of the week, as does preparation. Same as you'd find at home. The service is always friendly, and if you're lucky enough to get one of the old school waitresses, you're in for some stories if you engage them right. Super friendly even on busy nights, they aim to please. I've been eating at Manos for basically my entire food conscious life and while yes, I've had better greek food elsewhere, there are certain items on Mano's menu that I think are perfect. Combine them with a classic atmosphere, and a lovely patio in the summertime and you have one of my favorite, constant "go to" restaurants in the city of toledo. Not looking for a sit-down meal, and thirsty for some drinks? Head upstairs to the "Attic" bar. They offer the full Manos menu, plus a full bar and friendly service.

Walking into the Beirut was like being transported to a unique world that was both regional and international. Inviting, yet unfamiliar. We walked by the bread oven and our eyes lit up. We walked by the bar and main dining room and felt like we'd discovered a lost gem from another time. Somehow well preserved and still sparkling. The food was absolutely outstanding. So real, fresh, simple and complex. One could taste everything in a dish, and yet there's still something you can't put your finger on. Our two young kids also loved it. They ate plenty and so did we. We were there for lunch, which is truly a treasure. To be in a windowless and low-lit dining room, during the middle of a hot summer day...honestly it was just as good as being in a movie theatre. While we won't be moving back to the midwest anytime soon, we are trying to figure out how to get ourselves to Toledo for a lunch date. This place is not to be missed. And the pricing, along with the service staff, make it the kind of place you'd want to eat lunch at a few times a week on the regular. Thank you, Beirut!

While I did not experience the ambiance at Grape Leaf Diner today, I can say from a past visit that the atmosphere is clean, bright with lots of windows, and with comfortable chairs and booths. The restaurant is located near or within a small strip mall at the Holland, OH location. (The Grape Leaf Express location in Toledo, OH located on Monroe St near Franklin Park Mall is also in a strip mall.) The food ordered today included chicken shawarma, yellow rice with vegetables (green beans, corn and peas), hummus, pita bread, and a Greek salad. There was also a dish of grilled vegetables that included squash and zucchini. While I didn't want to be rude and photograph food in the middle of the party, I took some screenshots posted by the restaurant to give you an idea of the food presentation. The salad ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Hummus was perfectly flavored. I always wish that Mediterranean rice had more vegetables, though it was delicious. I found the chicken shawarma a bit salty, but I'm salt-sensitive, so most people probably would love it; the meat was lean. As for the zucchini and squash vegetables, they looked delicious but we didn't have plastic knives, and I couldn't manage to cut them or eat them with the plastic forks. It was a beautiful presentation and I recommend that you give this restaurant a try! A tip for summer weather: the A/C was cranked up high when I was last there... maybe bring a jacket or sweater if you tend to run cold.
