We've been coming to Charm Thai every month since we moved into the area, and it's become one of our go-to spots! The prices are very reasonable, the customer service is always top tier, and the food comes out surprisingly fast. Everything we've tried has been delicious, and the staff is always friendly. The ambiance is relaxing and neat. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're craving Thai food! The best Thai tea in Sacramento!

Food, service, and Ambiance were excellent. Felt like going to a friend's home and Lily our service was exceptional, she even gave us a free green tea to take home. Hands down best Thai restaurant in Sac! Try them you won't regret.

There's a lot of good thai restaurants in Sac but I wanted to try out Charm Thai to see how it measures up. Panang curry (chicken): A- Very legitimate curry! The flavor is amazing as it is very creamy and nutty. Only thing I think would be better is if they included some veggie or potato in it as it's basically just the protein. Their sticky rice is very good, perfect texture as it clings together well and you can feel the individual grains. Fried shrimp rolls: B Wrapped in a wonton and deep fried. Tastes good with the sauce they serve. Service is very friendly.

What a quaint little place! Came here with some friends have a nice lunch. The place is small, but well lit, had a good amount of seating, and the bathroom was easily located. The thing that grabbed my attention, though, was the ceiling! I loved the way it was decorated. So cute and vibrant. We were the only ones there for a while, so it was quiet. The staff were super attentive the moment we walked in. They greeted us warmly, asked how many would be dining, and they brought over waters and menus. My other friend was still parking. Plenty of parking, btw. The menu laid out each dish wonderfully, so we didn't have to guess anything. We ended up ordering an array of foods including green Thai curry, which came with rice, some steamed buns, dumplings, and noodles. Everything was delicious! When I'm in the area, I'll definitely visit again.

I'm not going to trash this place, because their heart is in the right place. The Hostess/Waitress was nice and it's obvious they put care into the preparations. That said, the dishes are expensive. The service was slow and the food was very average. I really enjoyed my Larb salad. The Beef Noodle soup was an extremely small portion and the flavor had a medicinal herb taste. Ceiling Decor is cute and the curved front window is a nice feature. Not a bad meal, but i would not return.

TLDR: Really good Thai food, properly seasoned, fast, enthusiastic service from the staff and good value. For the Readers: Located in a small open shopping center with a few other businesses and bars, the parking was a little tricky as the parking lot is not very large. I had to drive around the block to ultimately find a spot in the same parking lot after someone left. Not sure where the drivers were visiting becuase the restaurant was almost empty. The restaurant decor is simple, with wide, flat baskets adorning the ceiling and just a few Asian touches on the walls. The statue surrounded by plants was the main decorative focal point in the corner. It also provides good camouflage for the speaker where top 40 music from the 70s through the 90s plays. We were greeted quickly by our very enthusiastic server who got us seated and brought menus and water. He made a few suggestions on the menu and left us to consider our choices. After placing our order, the food arrived quickly, with a nice presentation. In search of spicy dishes, I ordered the green curry with chicken, Thai spicy. My wife wanted to try something different from her normal Penang so she tried the Praram curry. We also tried their spring rolls with avocado and peanut sauce. The curry dishes had lots of vegetables with a good serving of meat. They even got the heat level of my dish correct. Nice heat that blended well and did not seem to be an after thought. My wife mentioned that she was trying something different and the server brought her small dish of Panang sauce so she could compare the two flavors. That was a very thoughtful touch. Overall, I will definitely return to this place. Well done!

I had a dinner in this place for a few times now and I definitely can recommend it . Thai iced tea , pad thai , pad sew and ton kha are very delicious here . They are open when other places in on their lunch time so it is very convenient for me as I am always hungry exactly at that time . Atmosphere here is reminding me about Thailand . Very welcoming place and service was good

We had been looking for a new Thai restaurant because... let me tell you. WOW! The authentic flavors, the generous portion, the amazing friendly fast service (Tyler), the clean/elegant yet inviting ambiance, ample parking. They use ingredients that we see lacking in many modern Thai restaurants. Not pictured bc we devoured it immediately- pad see ew + papaya salad. Both 5/5. We highly recommwill + plan to definitely return!

Charm Thai is really close to my new house in Sacramento, and we were starving after a day of moving and unpacking, so we decided to try it out. It's a tiny place, and most people seem to do takeout as there was a constant flux of people stopping by to pick up food. Besides us, there were only two other small parties dining in. However, the staff were super friendly and attentive to all customers. Let's start with the good. The eggplant dish is amazing! I've never had anything like it before, and I've had a lot of Thai food in my life. I think what makes it a little extra special is the drizzle of coconut cream, maybe, to finish the dish (see photo). So, it's not quite like a full-on curry but it offers some yummy creaminess to the dish. My partner and I were raving over this dish and fighting for the last spoonfuls of sauce. The pad see ew was also good, and I loved the use of Chinese broccoli in it instead of regular broccoli. My kids did not like the Thai iced tea, saying that it wasn't sweet enough. I had a sip and agreed with them. Ironically, though, I thought the rest of the dishes were maybe a little too sweet, so it seemed odd that the drink was not sweet enough. Overall, I think the dishes here may be too sweet for some folks, with not enough balance between sweet and sour. However, for sure we will be coming back for the eggplant dish!

Found this spot on Instagram and had to stop by! I loved the food. One of the best Thai spots in town. We had lunch here on a Sunday. Liu, our hostess, was kind and very welcoming. Decor was trendy. For appetizers we had the curry puff pastries with chicken. AMAZING. The crust was moist and buttery! For entrees, we ordered the ginger stir fry with chicken and the eggplant delight with pork. The sauces were delicious with the right amount of spice. I requested fresh chili fish sauce on the side. I appreciated the fresh lime and Thai chili in it! We ate everything with white rice. Soooo yummy. Highly recommend!

The food here was great! It's a small restaurant but it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, and my husband and I were seated right away. The server brought us a bottle of water and the table was already set with water glass, plates, and cutlery. It's a casual atmosphere, and we caught them mid undecorating from Christmas still. They took our order quickly, and the food didn't take very long either. The flavors were delicious, and you could tell the food was fresh and high quality. We had the Yellow Curry with a side of white rice, and the chicken Pad Thai. We will definitely be coming back here. It's probably our new go to Thai spot!

Thai time Owner and…read moreRecipe Wizard Thammasorn Lau has created something that feels less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home -- assuming that someone's home happens to have amazing Thai chefs, incredible spices, and food that makes you immediately start planning your next visit before you're even done eating. We did our best "research project" and ordered everything our table could justify: Thai iced coffee, coconut canopy salad, pad see ew and pad Thai with pork belly, sunset curry with tilapia, and mango sticky rice with ice cream. For science, obviously. Thai Time should put a warning label on their Thai iced coffee. One sip through each layer and the conversation stopped. We woke up. The taste buds clocked in for work. The brain sent out the announcement: "Cancel all distractions -- apparently dinner has plans for us." Good thing we listened. Thammasorn then proceeded to take us on a full Thai flavor adventure. This wasn't just dinner. This was a carefully organized attack on our ability to say, "No thanks, I'm full." The coconut canopy salad started fresh and bright, the noodles brought the comfort, the pork belly brought the celebration, the sunset curry with tilapia brought the "wait, everyone try this" moment. And the mango sticky rice with ice cream showed up at the end like a victory parade. I always read the bad reviews because I'm fascinated by the rare human ability to find sadness while surrounded by curry, noodles, and people being nice to you. They are to be safely ignored. Our experience? Five stars out of 10. Beautiful flavors, warm service, and that special energy you only get when the people behind a place actually care. Thank you, Thammasorn and Thai Time. Sacramento is lucky to have you.

That it is customary in Sacramento. Ok then, what about to those that are elders or disabled who can't bring the plates? I was lucky I had few of my fam to help but there's no warmth to this owner. No one even checked on us at all! We would have left but we had to pay upfront before we found out we had to be the waitress. Food wasn't even worth it (papaya was bland, pad Thai was average). Update: owner replied to this post. Everything that she stated wasn't true at all. I asked why we have to bring all the stuff in and she insisted that it's customary in Sacramento-- she did NOT asked us at all or did we asked, the owner said it immediately when we got seated that we HAD to bring it in. Yes I was upset AFTER we were told to bring the plates and everything in; we just came back from a vacation so we were in a good mood). Please don't make it seem that you were innocent as you also keep mentioning that is how things are in Sacramento and asked where I was even from. Also, we would've been more understanding if we didn't give us an attitude from the start and told us to get our own plate and bring it back in. A word of advice: please hire more staff since that would give some politeness to ALL customers. If you were so busy, how would you even have the time to explain why you wanted us to do waitress work. Please, you straight up and said we have to pick up our our plate of foods WITHOUT any of the understaff part. Again, owner keep trying to make a costumer experience in the wrong since honest review will hurt her business. Never in my Yelp reviews owner is so against a bad review --this just verifies how the owner is very defensive and keeps justifying without taking accountability of what actually happened (like how we even know she was working alone since we're outside). Also, please don't make any assumptions, they're not my husband or daughter (we never mentioned this and how inaccurate the owner perspective is). Further customers, please be aware when you leave bad reviews, expect the owner to persist that you're in the wrong (like she did with other previous bad reviews).

I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

But the papaya salad is an interesting choice. With a unique flavor profile. But with some bland cabbage that detracts from the overall enjoyment of the dish.

Hiso had been on my list for a long time and I'm only sorry I didn't visit sooner. I met up with a…read morecolleague right when they opened and we were both able to find parking right out front. This had been a big reason I hadn't stopped in before... parking can be hard downtown but I've learned it's worth a walk even if you have to park a few street over. I was told the green Thai tea ($6) here is delicious so we both eagerly ordered one to enjoy during the meal. They were served in larger carafes and it's so satisfying to stir before taking your first sip. Definitely a great portion for the price. We wanted to explore the menu so we ordered a variety of items to share, knowing we'd be taking home leftovers. We ordered the Green Curry ($17), Lao Pho ($18), Pas See Ew ($17), and pineapple fried rice ($19). It was truly a feast. All the dishes had a generous portion size and our server made sure we had extra bowls and plates to share the pho and other dishes. My personal favorites were the pad see ew and Lao pho, the noodles in the pad see ew were delicious and I always like eating this as fresh as possible so the noodles are steaming hot. The pho broth had great flavor and I loved that this Lao version had tomatoes in it. The meat in the pho was also delicious. The pineapple fried rice is a customer favorite, but didn't blow me away. I tend to like savory and spicy more than sweet and savory, so this could by why. The Green Curry was a bit too thin for my preferences, I like a thick curry. It was tasty though and I'm glad I gave it a try. I would definitely stop in again to try more of the menu, and when we stopped in the Lao sausage was sold out, so I'd definitely order it next time if they have it.
