My first year as a Charmed Lashe customer was a little hit-or-miss trying to find a technician that was a good fit, but since they're close to home I kept trying. I've now been a Charmed Lashe customer for over 3 years, all because of Chani...she is absolutely THE BEST! Despite the language barrier, Chani helped me to determine my preferred lash "formula": a classic/hybrid combo using 4 different lengths. She is fast and VERY skilled, her applications sometimes lasting up to a whole month! I wanted to forget about the traumatic experience I had at this location but cannot. I feel it necessary to share my truth. I have never felt more degraded and humiliated by anyone let alone a business in my life. The salon assumed I wouldn't show when they were unable to confirm my appointment. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment to find a locked door. I called salon to confirm my arrival and they sent an employee over about half hour later. The lash technician was obviously not thrilled and started our interaction in a huff. Long story short she refused to do my lashes and called the manager. After a heated exchange I decided it was best to forgo the appointment. I kindly asked to use the restroom prior to my departure (I had driven almost an hour to attend the appointment). She refused and started screaming at me, asking me why I was so fat and blocked the door to the restroom. I attempted to use the restroom one last time when she slammed the door in my face and called the police. I decided it was best to risk peeing my pants to get away from this lunatic. I'm not sure if she is still employed there. I sure hope not. They originally refused to refund my money, however the salon has a camera system and the interaction was well documented. The owner did call me back and was apologetic. I understand this is a small business and I don't take posting a negative review lightly. I've kept this to myself for two years. Arrived early for my Saturday appointment and wasn't greeted by anyone so I sat myself. 10 minutes after my appointment time I received a call from a man asking if I was going to show for my appointment. When I let him know that I had been sitting in their lobby for 20 minutes he apologized and let me know someone would be right out. Soon a girl came and led me to her table, showed me some pictures of lashes and we began. When she was done they looked beautiful and I tipped her $45. By that evening several had fallen out and in the morning even more came out. By Tuesday morning my left eye had only about 20 lashes left on it, you could individually see them. It looked silly. I would give this studio 0 stars if possible. I showed the lash artist Sofia a picture of a set of lashes that I had a few weeks ago that I absolutely loved. She said she could do it with a bit more volume which sounded perfect. The set of lashes I ended up with were hideous and looked like caterpillars. I called the studio back and asked for them to fix it. The female manager on the phone was extremely rude saying that it was my fault because I didn't know what a hybrid set of lashes were and I messed up not Sofia. The female manager then proceeded to tell me that is the type of work you get when you have an awkward eye shape. This is confusing because the picture I showed her of the lashes I wanted was previous work done on me. The female manager set up an appointment for me to get them fixed. After unnecessary back and forth, I arrived at the studio for this follow-up appointment I was upset because of the previous work and asked Sofia if this was something she would wear and why she thought this is what I wanted based on my inspiration pictures. She said she could thin them out but it was the entire shape and texture of the lashes that I was unhappy with. I kindly asked her to call her manager and she proceeded to say "no you can call my manager if you want." That was one of the most unprofessional statements I have ever heard in a place of business. I will admit that I was aggravated by this unprofessionalism and switched to a more stern tone. Sofia said this tone was unnecessary, even though her manager had verbally attacked me earlier that day. Without me being able to get another word in, Sofia proceeded to hide in the back room for the next hour while I tried and tried to contact a manager. After about 10 calls I was finally connected to the male manager who told me that I would receive $90 back for my service and they would keep $40 to be able to remove them. I agreed to this as it seemed fair. A few minutes later Sofia came out of the back room on the phone with the male manage I had just spoken to. The male manager was on speaker so I could hear everything they were saying about me on the phone. They were saying things along the lines that I was a scammer trying to take advantage of their services mixed in with a variety of other slurs directed towards me. After some more time, the manager called me back and said that Sofia felt as though her life was at risk...mind you "HER LIFE". I am a 5'3 120 pound female who only had a phone and a pair of headphones with me. I was confused about how being stern with someone was a way of threatening someone's life. The manager said all they could do was to have me travel to the Oak Park location to get a removal and therefore my $90. Because I don't have a car, I would have had to travel to the oak park location on public transportation which could take upwards of an hour which I explained to the male manager on the phone. I kindly and patiently asked if there were any other options and I was told that I had to leave the premises immediately or law enforcement would have to get involved and there was nothing else they could do for me. This is the most unprofessional business that I have ever been to. Save your money and go somewhere else (trust me you'll thank me later.) This is hands-down, without a doubt, the best set of lash extensions I have ever gotten. I am a long-time veteran of extensions, having had probably upwards of 30 sets, and I have not found a vendor outside of Charmed Lashe that can do an application quite like this. I went in this past week and was set up to have my set done with Dina, who is the sweetest girl ever. She is from Khazakstan, near Russia, where nearly every girl has lash extensions done, and she REALLY knows what she is doing. I came after having another set done at another location that LOOKED good but didn't FEEL good. Dina took the time to explain why that was. The previous set had been applied too far out from the lash line, causing it to pull and itch when I would comb through them daily with the spooly. Additionally, the lashes had been applied one lash on top of several of my natural lashes, causing them to clump together and itch tremendously as they grew out. Ladies, it is so important for you to go to an experienced professional who will take their time and who knows what they are doing. For me, this location is my new OG. I arrived to my appointment and had a minute to talk with the owner of the place, I believe Frank, who is so incredibly sweet. Then Dina and I discussed what it was that I wanted. I had some C-curl lashes on formerly, but I was really hoping to get a D-curl set (I love the look, even though I know it is more dramatic.) She was so careful and took her time making sure the lash application was close to the lash line and applied one-to-one with my real lashes. The result was flawless. She even took the time to painlessly remove (not easy) many of the improperly applied C-curl lashes, leaving a few that were well-applied and blending them flawlessly with the D-curl. She took my vision based on my explanation and photos I showed her and made it truly come to life. After the appointment, I was literally complimented so many times that day. Someone even stopped me in the street just to say hi and tell me how beautiful I looked. These are a HUGE confidence booster and it feels so much better when they are applied correctly! They wear better, look better, and most importantly, FEEL better! I love Dina's work and I cannot wait to come back and experience another set. Asking too much for lashes supplies even tho my eyelashes fell out quickly don't recommend

At this point I have been debating on posting a review just because the girl who does my eyelashes has done a pretty good job but recently who ever has taking over their receptionist area has been extremely rude over the phone not only to me but my roommate who was recommended to go there. I have not been able to catch her name but she has lied and has been misinforming customers about certain information and catches an attitude. I have always booked an appointment without my card on file and my friend who had her appointment today was cancelled because they never asked for her card to be on file when she booked two weeks ago but the receptionist stated they require one now and decided to explain this reasoning the day of the cancelled appointment and not the day the appointment was booked. In regards to me I have had to reschedule my appointment two weeks ago due to family emergency and wanted to reschedule but she decided to hang up the phone instead before I can even finish letting her know that I wanted to reschedule. Twice I have had my appointment canceled moments before I was to arrive. Today. I was sent a text to reschedule my appointment. This sucks because I have an event to attend today. I purchased from Groupon and wanted to just check it out. Although my nail tech (Connie) was great, it was a horrible experience at this place. 1. Parking sucks. 2. Customer service sucks, I waited 10 minutes before being acknowledge. (There were only 3 clients there & about 6 employees). 3. The only male present & I believe who's also the owner was rude & unprofessional not only to his employees, but to clients. - He got into a verbal argument with 1 of the clients who was dissatisfied with the outcome of her visit & told her how much she owed & stated "don't ever come back here again". I was in the middle of my mani that my nail tech had to stop & intervene their argument & calm the client down. -After client left, he openly continued to discussed what happened to his other employees in front of other clients left in the salon. It was not something I needed to hear. -Lastly, middle of my pedi, the owner told my nail tech to clean up. Ummm, how is she suppose to do that when she's rudely interrupted doing my pedi? I first went because I got a Groupon, I loved the look, loved the decoration, loved the ambiance. The first person I initially went for my eyelash extensions to be put on for the first time is no longer there, so now I go with Olga. The owner Frank is very friendly and in general the service is friendly and accommodating. I have never had any issues with my refill appointments, the opposite, they usually try to squeeze me in or find the best time to schedule me. Olga has been my go to girl for eyelash extension and I absolutely love her, she takes her time and she is very honest and careful. I have been going there for 6 months and I highly recommend it, also for mani and pedi. Prices are fair for the area, but nothing beats the customer service. read more

I purchased a Groupon for my friend, and we planned on getting our nails done before vacation. I called in advance to book an appointment, and the man that I spoke with informed me that they were only accepting walk-ins... umm, okay. I asked if there would be nail techs available for both of us today, because when I was here previously there was only one girl working, and I was told yes. So we went today, excited to enjoy our mani-pedi. But when we walked in, one of the employees was training another employee. Why is your business open if you are administering training? She told me that no nail techs were in today, but we could come back tomorrow. How about no! How embarrassing for me... after all, I did invite my friend for a Spring Break treat (we're teachers)... Because I've been here before, I know that the man having his eyebrows waxed is the owner, and I would be willing to bet that he is also the employee that I spoke to when I called. Horrible experience! I should have known it would be a bad experience, when I explained to them that I was looking for a new lash tech because my current lash tech moved out of town. I called before purchasing a Groupon to see if there was any availability soon and I was asked not to purchase on Groupon to come in and pay the price Groupon is offering and preferably cash!I have been wearing lashes for a number of years, so I definitely know the process and I know how to take care of them. After getting a new set of classic lashes, 2 days later the lashes started to fall off. I called the establishment and spoke with Adelia, the lady who performed the service and she asked could I come back the following day at an unfavorable time and I said the time didn't work for me, Adelia stated she needed to check a couple of things and would call me right back but I never heard back from her! Walked in for my 3-week lash refill and found out that Mellany, the co-owner, was no longer a part of the business. The owner Frank is very kind, professional, and accommodating, that alone will keep as a customer next time I get my lashes done. I was not happy with my lash extensions from another place and called here last minute to have them removed, my lash tech Jessica was gentle and took her time, I could tell she was careful with removing the lashes the best she could without harming my natural lashes. So I probably shouldn't have taken a gamble with this place seeing as the only reviews are for eyelash extensions. I learned the hard way that waxing...namely Brazilian waxing is not their specialty. The only reason I'm not as annoyed as I generally would be is because I had a Groupon. I should've known the extra 40 min wait past my apt time because she was doing eyelash extensions on another lady would be a precursor for what was to come. I was patient and gave the benefit of the doubt...wishing I hadn't. The young lady was nice enough and tried to appear knowledgeable but was amateur at best with the waxing. She wasn't thorough. And of all the places I've been to whether they were decent or not I've never had to wipe myself down and get the excess wax off myself after the hair was remove. It was the oddest thing. I also had to have her come back and go over a couple of areas she still didn't get all the hair from. Upon getting home and being in better lighting I saw other areas that were half done as well as there still being a piece of hard wax down there. I got a groupon for a medium application of false lashes. I'm giving this three stars because of my overall experience.. If this review was based on how I like my lashes only I would give it a five because they look wonderful! So when I arrived I was helped right away .. During the application of my lashes the woman doing my lashes did get up for about five minutes to attend to something else...which is totally fine however she did not make up those five minutes of lash application at the end of my hour. I feel like lashes are pretty pricey anyways so I would have just appreciated if she would have given me that extra five minutes since I did pay for a whole hour lash application. Also during my application my eyes were stinging a lot.. It was my first time going so I have heard from some people that it does sting and have others told me that it's not supposed to sting.. So I'm not really sure which is correct but I will say it was painful to have my eyes stinging. I also got a brow wax and I love how they came out however I was interrupted during my wax by another employee there for a few minutes . I was very nervous to try a new studio since I've worked in lash extension studios before and know a lot about extensions. I made an appointment online and ended up getting recommended to a new lash tech named Dina. Dina was very sweet and did a great job! She is new to the salon but definitely not new to lash extensions. She removed my outgrown lashes and took her time during my whole refill. My refill did take a lot longer than usual but it was totally worth it for the outcome. She always made sure I was comfortable and that I liked my lashes after the service. Called to inquire about prices, lashes, etc. price was too expensive for my taste. Rep told me she would put me down for an appointment and a $30 booking fee was due. I advised her to give me some time to figure out what I wanted to do. I started receiving phone calls from them asking to confirm my appointment and for a booking fee or a $50 cancellation fee. I tried calling twice, and left a text message to cancel an appointment that shouldn't have been booked in the first place. The rep called me back with an attitude! Said next time she won't put me down for an appointment without the booking fee...why are you putting me on your schedule in the first place when I told you I wasn't sure what I wanted to do? I first got my lashes done here a few weeks ago and everything turned out great. Three days ago I went in to get them filled. My eyes became so irritated afterwards, completely bloodshot, which they said would go away within the night. However, my eyes did not become any less irritated and I was forced to go to my high school graduation with bloodshot eyes. When I called this morning asking for a refund they were not at all accommodating, and all they offered to do was take them off for free. Wanted to try getting eyelash extensions for the first time and found a deal on Groupon for this post. Called and made an appt and the owner was friendly enough to fit me in the day off with an eyelash tech, I believe her name was Melanie or Melissa. I arrived early was asked what kind of lashes I wanted and I told her a classic set/ natural look since it was my first time. After the session I headed to pay and was over charged by $40 even though I paid half cash and my Groupon was for $70. Being that I was already upset about that what topped off my anger was that after one week the extensions were completely off even though I followed the instructions. Large clumps of 3 to 5 pieces in one "lash" kept falling off. Save your money and go to people who actually take their time to put INDIVIDUAL lashes instead of rushing. The manager refused to correct the issue free of charge, they said I would have to pay for them to fix it after I had already paid them $110. VERY unprofessional. I have 2 comments: First: I had an 11am appointment. It is now noon and I am still waiting without anyone giving me any feedback as to when I can expect my service. Horrible experience! I don't usually write bad reviews but this one has me really upset. I came in without an appointment, as they only do walk in for nail services. They told me it will be 45 mins to hour. I told them I will come back and was back 15 mins later. After waiting another 30 mins upon my return I checked in and asked how much longer it will be. At that point the same lady told me it will be 45 mins at least. Why didn't she anything to me as I was sitting right there in her eye sight. I am furious with this business. I don't usually write reviews much longer than a few lines, but I am such a fan of this place and I think it's so important to support local businesses. Charmed Lashe has an unassuming store front, but once you walk-in you get the sense that a lot of thought was put into the details of the décor. Everything is quite..."charming"! It's a cozy space, but every square foot is used effectively. I especially love the lash / brow area. You really feel like you're getting pampered. You expect this from a big name salon, but I'm really impressed that they pull it off in a low key way. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, both staff and clientele. The prices are competitive, and Frank, the owner, takes customer loyalty seriously. I know this because I've seen the operational changes he's made because he wanted to make sure his staff members are happy and get along with each other, and that customers' feedback is taken seriously. I can say from my own experience that when I wasn't satisfied with a service, I felt comfortable telling Frank, and he was not only receptive to the feedback, but he also went above and beyond in making sure I knew I was heard through his follow-up communication and offering a complimentary service. I went here for the first time in January partly because I was dissatisfied with my original lash lady at a place close to where I live, but more so because it was convenient to where I was going to be the rest of that day. Even though I live quite a bit away, I continue to come back because Olga is nothing short of gifted with lashes. She is precise with application, and really puts thought into the artistry of making the extensions look so natural. Also, recently I finally gave into letting my eyebrows be done by sometime besides myself. I thought I had really sparse brows so I've always been too hesitant to let anyone touch them for fear of over-waxing. All of you out there who know what I'm talking about, you know you just nodded your head when you read that last sentence Anyway, Deshon is to brows as Olga is to lashes. Thorough and precise, she understands how to really frame your face. From what I've seen on other customers of the other services they offer, the staff aren't just technicians. IMO they're really artisans, reading what they do as a fine craft. It sounds hooky, but it's true. The proof is in the product! Last thing I think is 100% important to mention is that initially I thought someone else, not Frank, was the owner, and I think a lot of other customers thought the same thing. I know that several had a negative experience because of that person (who is no longer there), and I hope they eventually give this place another chance like I did. Full disclosure, I booked that person for lashes the second time I came in, and immediately knew it was as mistake. The quality and care wasn't in it, and I didn't feel like anything said would actually be heard so I decided the next time I would just book with Olga (again she is amazing!!!) and put up with the other person being around. I have no regrets about giving them a second chance. I am definitely a loyal customer because it's apparent that Frank is committed to ensuring a top notch customer experience through his decision to be present and run the business full time. He was even thoughtful enough to not disparage / trash talk that former employee when I tried to dig for style dirt. That's not something you see very often these days. I'm also impressed to see that he wants to make sure his staff all get along because he knows his their satisfaction is equally important and key to the customer experience. Don't do it. I bought a Groupon thinking this would be a great place for regular waxes in my neighborhood. The website is cute, inside looks charming, as the name states. I got excited when I saw all of the services offered. This place is anything but charming. I called to make an appointment and they said they only book waxes on the weekend. I work weekends, so there's no way I could come in to do this. There's nothing written about this in the fine print of the Groupon. The person on the phone said he could take me Wednesday at 9am, which I appreciated. I show up at 9am and no one is there. They open salon a few minutes after 9am (not a big deal), but then ask me to sit and wait. I sit for 20 minutes and ask the eyelash technician, who is doing someone's eyelashes at the time, when I'll be seen. She says she isn't sure but she called the owner to find out if someone would be coming to do my wax and that he should be here soon. Meanwhile, there's a nail technician just hanging out in the back....is there only one person who does waxing at this salon? I sit for 10 more minutes. It's 9:30am and I have another 10am commitment so I'll need to leave the salon by 9:50am. There's no way they can do my wax in 20 minutes even if they show up now, so I tell the eyelash technician that I'm leaving. No wax is worth me wasting an additional 30 minutes of my day, especially since I had to book a babysitter to be able to come in for it, only to be disappointed in the service or late for something else. No apology, no communication throughout the entire time I was sitting there about when to expect service....awful customer service. Making customers wait this long is incredibly rude. Not everyone has time to be sitting around waiting for someone to provide a service that they have paid for. I requested a refund from Groupon. There's no way I'll be back to this place. It's a shame because they could have had a regular client if they had treated me like any other salon and just provided basic service. read more

So this is my first time here. I bought the groupon thinking it was perfect since it was in my neighborhood. When I walked in, it was pretty empty... not much workers or customers. Actually just one nails technician and one client. So the worker at the desk told me the earliest they had was 2:30 and when I told her I was actually hoping for something sooner she okay let's do 2. Okay perfect. I arrived 10 minutes early... I waited 10 minutes past my appointment, then it became 20 minutes. No one came by to update me or anything. It's almost 25 minutes past my appointment and I finally spoke with the nail technician. She didn't acknowledge how late we're starting. I just picked my color and I got to the seat. Then I waited almost 10 minutes in the seat with my feet soaked. The lady from the desk notices I'm irritated and I just told her you know I wish you told me you couldn't do it sooner so I wouldn't have waited and wasted my time. And that also no one made an attempt to apologize or communicate with me that it would be late. That was my biggest problem. I understand you're short staffed and the timing wasn't there with the previous client but that should be communicated beforehand. She finally told me the situation of what happened but because I called them out on the problem. So yeah I'm going to hope to get a refund on that groupon. I know this place is new and maybe they don't know how to handle these kind of situations. But the lady from the desk just looked me like I was crazy and overreacting. That's not cool. She did at the end make an attempt to apologize. But anyways lesson learned. I'll make an appointment beforehand, rather than walk in and hoping for the best. read more
