    Patio

This is a fantastic coffee shop on the north side of the city. I stopped here during a bike ride and they have a big patio that was great to relax on. I had a simple drip coffee that was flavorful with a lot of bite. The service was extremely friendly - the baristas offered to bring my coffee out to the patio as he could see that I didn't want to leave my bike alone while ordering. Do stop-in!

Latte With Sesame Milk And The Veg Head

Guess what the atmosphere is like at this cafe. It's charming so they're being truthful. Charmers Cafe is located in Rogers Park close to the Jarvis CTA station and a few other bars and restaurants around. Looks pretty quiet and it is. This makes a good place for a relaxing breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Came here from off the train and we got some breakfast. It was actually also serving lunch. That means we got both, so we could see the full range. It's about $4 for a latte. They have several non dairy milks including sesame. Good shit and it's healthier. The lunch menu has more choices for vegetarians. I got the Veg Head. It's about $10 for a pretty big sandwich. This came with carrots, cucumbers, hummus, onions, spinach, and tomatoes. Also has a choice of a side, and I got it with chips. The sandwich was a good size for lunch but we ended up not being so full for once. Healthy options for the morning or afternoon. It's not open for later. There's breakfast stuff including eggs plus options for vegans and vegetarians.

Yay! Fav local cafe :)) yummy lattes, chill vibes, indie playlist. Their chai has a decent spice. Super cute inside! They sell plants & there's a swing you can sit on. Large windows, sunlight pours in around noon

Got time to kill in Rogers Park? Stop by Charmers, sit back in their deep chairs and take it easy. Or sit by the window and people-watch. They have a wide selection of coffees, teas, and other drinks and lite breakfast fare to help you while the time away. I got the egg sandwich, which was pretty simple - fried egg, white cheddar, english muffin. Small, but tasty. Just enough to fill my belly but not make me sleep as I watched out the window as the denizens of North Chicago got to where they were going. Friendly staff in a subdued atmosphere, Charmers is a great stop, especially if you have nowhere to go.

    Lavender lemonade and dirty chai

This place is on an adorable corner with lots of flowers and cute patio seating. The lavender lemonade and 24oz dirty chai were super refreshing. Bummed they were out of the potatoes for the breakfast bowls. Sammy's we're good but not super filling. Service was nice and they brought our food and drinks out to us. Great place to meet up for coffees or grab a quick nosh.

Nice addition to this neighborhood. Could use more seating on an inside weather Sunday but otherwise lovely!

We went there on a summer weekday morning. The place was bustling, but we were able to find a table outside. I was so impressed with all of their amazing vegan options, but finally decided on the sesame bagel with vegan cream cheese, and the spinach & cheese Danish. The bagel was literally the best bagel I've ever had, close to one I had in New York City. The Danish was buttery and delicious; I've never tasted anything like it. I feel like you can't go wrong with a latte with oat milk, and this one was sure to please! The staff were all hard-working and friendly. The ambience is quite unique and I appreciate the diversity of customers here. The bathrooms are gender neutral, which is an outstanding choice! With two sections of outdoor seating, there were enough tables for everyone. I'd love to return here to eat their yummy food, drink their delicious drinks, and stay for an event.

I really love it here and when I'm back in town will definitely come back.

Because seriously, they're a hot dog stand on a beach. But seriously...they've become a staple of the neighborhood. And they've always been so gracious, understanding, patient, and all-around amazing people to order from. And chat with. And sit by their stand and listen to live music with. They didn't have to be any of those things, either. Because again, they're a hot dog stand on a beach, with a relatively captive audience. But they've continually gone above and beyond to be better than the stereotypical hot dog stand. Including two fryers - one for gluten-based foods, and a dedicated fryer for gluten-free foods. Regardless of what I've ordered from them, or the orders from people I've introduced to them? No one has complained about a single meal they've had from Blue Jay Cafe. If anything, everyone has sung their praises. I hope Blue Jay Cafe remains in Rogers Park for many years to come. Going forward, I'll continue to enjoy my hot dogs on gluten-free buns, and salads topped with gluten-free chicken tenders, while they're open for the summer season.

Once I added almond milk, it became so watery that there was very little coffee flavor left. The bigger issue was the chocolate croissant. It came straight out of a plastic bag, and unfortunately it tasted like it had been sitting in one for quite a while. The texture and flavor were off-putting enough that it was close to inedible. I genuinely don't understand serving a pastry in that condition. I love exploring neighborhood cafés and want local businesses to succeed. Hopefully this was just an off day, because Rogers Park deserves great coffee spots.

My kids enjoyed their pastries (a chocolate frosted donut and a pumpkin muffin) and they were entertained with the selection of board games. They also have a retro pacman game at the back of the cafe. I'll definitely go back!

Please bring back the old version of COCO BREW. I'm begging…read more I've been a regular since they first opened a few years ago, I think around 2019? Their Coco Brew used to be one of my absolute favorite coffee drinks for years, up until recently. I'm not exactly sure when the recipe changed, because as far as I remember it still tasted the same through 2025. I've been busy this year and haven't come as often, but the last three times I ordered it, it was completely different. And since it was made by different baristas, I'm assuming this is a recipe change rather than just inconsistency. (Check the photos to see the differences!) The old version was much lighter, mildly sweet, and had that lovely coconut milk aroma. It tasted fresh, smooth, and really balanced. The new version is totally different. The first thing I noticed was the color. It's way darker now. And the taste matches: darker, more sour, and with a strange almost medicinal aftertaste (reminded of some cough medicine..) The gentle sweetness and mildness are completely gone. Now it somehow tastes strong, sour, and watery at the same time. What happened?? Please don't change something that was already so good. Even the ice seems different now. It used to have smaller ice pieces that filled the cup more evenly and let the liquid move through, so you got that really pretty layered look with the coconut milk and cold brew. Now it's large chunks of ice just floating on top. Anyway, this is just my little heartbreak over a drink that used to be so beautiful and delightful. Other than that, the vibe is still nice as usual, maybe a bit more crowded than before. The decor is still cute, and I've always liked the woody interior. It's also one of the brighter coffee shops in Evanston, with really nice natural light.
