This was our last night in New York after 6 glorious days! We wanted something close to our hotel, something a bit different than what we had been eating and I needed some spice! Charoen Krung did not disappoint, I got the Drunken noodle with chicken and it was delicious!!! Just the right amount of spice not over powering but you know it's there. My mom was going to get the Pad Thai but decided to venture out and get the Pad-Se-Ew with chicken the portions were huge! We also ordered Spring rolls to start, they were piping hot and crunchy. Our server was so sweet and helpful when we ordered she made sure that we didn't have any allergies and that our tolerance for spice was good for what we ordered. She was very attentive with filling up waters and checking in on how we were doing throughout the meal. The vibe inside the restaurant was immaculate, they had good music, it wasn't too loud but you could hear it and still talk at a normal level and hear your dining companion. The restaurant was super clean and fresh looking, we really loved all the accents and lighting, tables and seating. If we weren't just visiting, this would absolutely be a regular spot for me!

Great upscale Thai place. I recommend getting a bunch of apps and sharing. One of their n/a drinks has gold flakes, so fancy.

A quaint, restaurant that makes you feel youre sitting in a small family restaurant in Chang Mai! The smells of the authentic thai food being cooked took me to Thailand. The staff os excellent friendly and humorous! Their crispy pork belly is a gem , mango sticky rice 10/10 and their crispy duck with the tamari sauce is simply divine. Rice rolls are made fresh and they are perfectly tender and slightly chewy.

Came here on a saturday around 12:30 PM and it was relatively empty throughout our meal, so I wouldn't say you need a reservation. It was well-lit and very quiet. I ordered the crispy duck over rice. I didn't really like the flavors in the sauce served on the side, but I did like the brown sauce that was poured over the rice. The duck skin was very crispy, but the meat itself was a bit on the dry side. Overall, solid option for quick thai food, but nothing to write to home about.

They just revamped their menu and I'm all here for it! My favorites were the rice noodle rolls wrapped with tofu, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, carrots and preserved radish, Thai beef stew and the Panang short ribs. The beef stew was SO tender and collagen rich, literally every bite was melt in your mouth. Short ribs, also as expected, tender and flavorful. The Thai ice cream was a perfect finish - sweet toppings, cold coconut ice cream, warm pandan sticky rice - all different flavors and textures but all work together in harmony.

A hidden gem in Midtown with great Thai food and service! We came on a Sunday night which was surprisingly quiet. We came before 6pm and were able to snag a happy hour priced drink for our meal. Both the pad-char branzino and pad see ew were delicious! Service and the atmosphere was great - we felt welcomed and well served throughout our meal.

I've had this place saved on my list for a while, and I'm so glad that I finally got to make a reservation and go for dinner on a Wednesday night! I'm really glad that I made the reservation, because the restaurant was packed even at 8pm. It's not a huge restaurant, but they managed to fit a lot of tables. I love that the menu has a combination of authentic Thai dishes, and more typical dishes you would find like Pad Thai. There are so many things from the menu that looked good, so it was really hard trying to narrow it down. In the end, I ordered: - Chive dumplings (5/5) - Massaman tofu curry (5/5) - Mango sticky rice (4/5) The sticky rice was good but I wish the mango was a bit more ripe. The employees were also all super friendly and never made us feel rushed, even when we ended up being the second to last table at the end of the night. I would totally recommend this place!

Charoen Krung Thai doesn't look like anything special on the outside, but gosh it's fantastic on the inside. We loved the vibe, service, and especially the food, with dishes you don't find at just any Thai place you walk into. We weren't extremely hungry, so we went with a relatively small order of spring rolls, corn fritters, and widely-praised Panang short ribs. The spring rolls were the sleeper hit of the meal, so fresh and flavorful but better than your standard version, accompanied by a sauce I didn't recognize but that gave a great acidic punch. The short ribs were enormous, definitely a dish for sharing. In addition to the delicious curry and well-braised meat, it had more vegetables than I expected (eggplants and long beans), which was a welcome surprise. I was thrilled to see a bigger N/A cocktail menu than usual. I ordered a Da-Ra Thong, and it was complex and refreshing. I took my first sip as the bartender was walking by, and he paused to check my reaction with a thumbs up and questioning expression - I returned the thumbs up with a smile! It was representative of the great service here, where people were friendly and really cared that you were enjoying your dinner. Downright excellent - go to this place!

The restaurant is beautiful with its mural and Thai decor. Good for a date night or all group. Stopped by for lunch one day and it wasn't busy. The staff was nice. They are known for cocktails that come in a cool Thai inspired design. I tried one that was made non alcoholic for me. Decent. They also have a drink happy hour 12-4. As for food, it was just okay. Tried a vegetarian dish called Tofu Kua Krob which is basically fried tofu cubes with chili garlic on it. I found it to be too salty and a little pricey at $24 for what it was. A Thai friend who joined lunch tried Kra Pow Moo Sup and said it was ok. Overall cute spot but the food flavor felt a bit lacking. Maybe I'd go back to try another item or for drinks.

Loved the story and the ambiance. Went for lunch on a beautiful and surprisingly unbusy day. Lots of good options, including some pretty unique dishes. Also some overselling by waitstaff on the flavors so take recommendations with a grain of salt. I'd suggest visiting and trying dishes here you can't find elsewhere, but pass on the standard menu items that sound elevated but at the cost of flavor, especially from (missing) aromatics. Pricy but I'd do again. Especially on a date night or light celebration.

Unfortunately I think the quality went down.. I used to love this place and recommended to a lot of my friends but this time, but food wasn't as good! The crispy bork belly is usually what I love but it was not crispy at all.. Just a lot of meat and had to chew a lot! The thai iced tea also didn't really hit the spot this time.. It wasn't as flavorful which was a bit disappointing. I think that the appetizer that we got (Summer Rolls) was the best!

Charoen Krung Thai is a popular Thai spot in midtown. They are definitely bringing traditional flavors with a modern twist to its customers. The night we came here, we tried some standout dishes: The crispy corn fritters and curry puffs, both perfect as appetizers. The ribs were succulent, flavorful, and literally fall-off-the-bone--definitely a highlight. The fried red snapper was delicious and perfectly fried, and the mango salad on the side, I couldn't stop eating it. We mainly ate the fish without the sauce it came with. As for the drinks, we had soju-based cocktails, which were great, but with the full liquor license coming soon, it'll be interesting to see what new drink options they'll offer. The vybe overall is fun and I squealed when our shaved ice dessert came out! It was thai iced tea flavor (which I love) with 2 different kinds of jelly inside. We noticed a lot of locals were dining in and ordering out, which says a lot about how well-loved the place is and how great the service is. It's Definitely worth a visit for date night or a hang out.

I come here often for the lunch special but went for dinner for the first time. Ordered the more expensive specialty entree, pad char branzino and found it amazingly crispy and rich. Perfectly deboned and full of other unique garnishes, like green peppercorns and bamboo shoots, soaked in the spicy sauce. The staff was very friendly explaining the menu and treating us to complementary tea afterwards. The interior is nicely lit and not too loud, good for dates.

The service was friendly, attentive, and the food arrived quickly even they were a full house and rush lunch hour. Very quick and our server was amazing! We started with mango salad and chicken satay as these were the most popular. Their salad was purely mango with cashews and cherry tomatoes. Their chicken satay was also to die for! It was very flavorful and was perfect and went well with the salad. Their pad thai was so perfect it brought me back to when we visited Thailand few years ago. The crispy pork belly was a standout for me perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, with just the right amount of richness. (Reminds me of Filipino Lechon Kawali) The fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and squeeze of lime balanced everything out beautifully. The soft shell crab in creamy curry egg sauce was also a must try! And lastly, we tried their mango sticky rice!! Absolutely no words... IT WAS DIVINE!!! If you're looking for authentic Thai food with elevated presentation, generous portions, and excellent service, Mitr Thai is definitely worth the visit. I'll absolutely be coming back to try more dishes!

I'm surprised people queued and surprised they actually lock people out. They have a policy of only seating whole parties. My friends were literally stuck amongst the world cup crowds in Times Square such that they struggled to get through and had to detour when they did. They have a 10 minute grace period, but my friends wouldn't make it in time, so I asked if they'll let us sit first as long as we start ordering immediately. They said ok as long as we returned the table by 6:30pm. I thought the 1.5 hour seating time was based on when we actually get seated which considers the grace period. Anyways the timing ended up being sufficient. I think this spot is good for pre-theatre dining due to the large storefront and quick service, but I wouldn't necessarily choose to come here for the sake of coming. Their menu is extensive and slightly confusing given the way they organize by regions in Thailand. I'm uncultured so I won't know what's the difference between each region. It's easier for me to comprehend if the menu was categorized by the ingredients used or size of the dish. Most dishes do not have a photo/drawing included so it was hard to skim through all the options. Their online ordering was way more helpful since it had photos. It was so hard to look for the corresponding line item in the printed version. We ordered: green curry, kao soy kua neur, khao mok neua, curry puff, kaeng hung lay, gai gor lae, and mango sticky rice. Most of the stuff tasted alright without much standout. We requested mild/little spicy for everything and it was true to request. The spiciest dish was probably the green curry, but I think it's tolerable if you eat it with rice. Crowd favorite was the kao soy kua neur which is braised beef with egg noodles. I like how tender the beef is and how chewy the noodles were. My friends didn't like the khao mok neua biryani because of its dryness, but I think it's meant to be like that. I appreciate the spices in it, not too strong but still sufficient. I don't like how they don't have a printed menu for desserts and relied on the servers to recite out what's available. We couldn't hear everything properly and resorted to referencing the online ordering menu for the dessert options. Glad they're the same. Mango sticky rice was the highlight of the night for me. The mango size could be slightly bigger, because right now it's much smaller than the rice. However, I enjoyed the rice a lot. It was hot, fragrant, and not too soft. It definitely felt comforting. The coconut milk on the side had rice puffs (?) in it which gave additional texture.

I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.
