I got lunch delivery and got a lunch special, which was their drunken noodles with a choice of appetizer (I got spring rolls). Spring rolls were solid, but the drunken noodles were very oily and lacked any flavor. I wonder if it wasn't mixed enough and the sauce was at the bottom, but really didn't have any spice. This place is a solid base hit. The gold standard of my thai reviews is the pad thai. This place's lacked the depth of flavor the egg, peanuts, scallions flavor in the noodles that you expect from a good pad thai. It was affordable so that is one thing in their favor. Then we had the calamari and these were again a solid base hit. Fried nice crispiness and decent flavor but not tender and not over the top flavor wise. Lastly we tried the seafood combo. Came out w nice come of rice so goo presentation their but again flavor was off and the seafood was clearly not the highest they had a white fish (tilapia I think) scallops shrimp green mussels scallops and onions green peppers etc. service was slow and inattentive. I stoppped by to order some takeout. The restaurant was small and cosy with a handful of tables. I ordered the pad Thai and it came with a free app of dumplings. The portion size was pretty good for a lunch special and it tasted pretty standard. Service was pretty quick and my order was ready in about ten mins. read more

Was craving some Thai food during my stay in the Midtown and was looking for a reasonably priced spot then I stumbled upon here. I visited during a weekday dinner time and was able to get a spot however, the restaurant is small so I would imagine it would be quite a wait during busy periods so I would recommend going during more off peak hours. I got the pad thai and pad see ew. Pad Thai: Tasted quite authentic and great flavour. The noodles weren't soggy and tasted amazing. Generous portions served which was a nice surprise. Was definitely a solid pad thai. Pad See Ew: The sauce was a bit too sweet compared to other pad see ews I've had in the past. I wasn't quite a big fan of this one unfortunately compared to the pad thai. They offer quite affordable lunch specials that would be a great spot for locals. A new favorite! The place we were planning to go was full and noisy, so instead we wandered around until, on a whim, we stepped into Sukhumvit 51. It was quiet, cool, and pleasant. Just what we needed in a busy city like NYC. But best of all was the food. I got Tofu Pad Thai (with extra peanuts) and it was a feast. We came back the next week to have it again, that's how good it was. We still talk about it! She offered salt to compensate but that did not interest us. They do give good-sized portions and reasonably priced. The only downside is that the staff can be a little nosey and watch you eat, which made us a little uncomfortable. It's small inside so seating is limited and there are outside tables. True authentic Thai food with amazing flavors. Presentation is beautiful. The grounded chicken kaphrao was a savory with a little spiciness. It's an authentic version of the typical basil stir fry Thai dish. We absolutely LOVE this place. From my time as a first year employee 7-8 years ago to now, this place has been a staple for me and other corporate lunchtime folks, and the great for dinner for nearby residents (me now). Their lunch special varies in price from $11-13 for 1 appetizer and 1 entree. I have tried most things on the menu and I would recommend staying with the noodle, rice, and curry dishes. Not that the other entrees aren't good, but I come here for solid Pad See Ew and fried rice. It has never disappointed (today included). Today I did order something new - the Bangkok Noodle. It reminds me of street cart style noodles that you would get on the streets of Bangkok or other Asian cities. It's a solid dish that is not dominated by sauce (like a Pad Thai or Pad See Ew). It's just a fried, wide noodle of which you can taste the eggs, all the veggies, and that fragrant hot flame taste. Loved it! In terms of seating availability, it's much better now that they have outdoor covered seating. Before, they only had their indoor seating which had 15-20 seats max and there was usually a wait. With their outdoor addition, you can eat comfortably without a wait and the food still comes out quite quickly. read more

There were so many options on the menu and the NYPD dish stood out to me. It's essentially pad Thai with half roasted duck -- the seasoning was great and savory/tangy, the noodles were chewy, and the portion was good to share between two. Sukhumvit has become the classic Thai spot for me in the city. When you walk in, the interior space looks small but can seat a fair number of people. The decor is pleasant on the eye, and the servers are all friendly as well. I always get either their pad see ew or the drunken man noodles, and they are both always top notch. Their pad see ew is so well made and has that savory char on it, while the drunken man noodle has that small bit of spice that carries the flavors forward. Some of the best Thai noodles in NYC in my opinion. If you're in the area, definitely check this spot out!
