One of my worst experiences ever at a "fine dining" establishment. I had a reservation for four here on a night where the restaurant was not busy. We were seated past a line of empty, set tables to one in the very corner of the restaurant. We were not assigned a waiter. We sat for 30 minutes until one of our party went back up to the front and asked what was going on. A guy came who explained that he had no idea why he had our table, he only had tables on the opposite side of the restaurant. Getting the food took forever. Once we had the food, we never saw him, or anyone else, again...except for the water girl. The food wasn't actually bad...too bad that the exceptionally bad service so drastically detracted from the overall experience. We even had to chase down the waiter for the check but he never came back to get payment. When we finally went to the front desk to complain and pay, we got to meet the manager who offered no consolation for our bad experience and continued to whisper to the man standing beside him while I was talking to him. Please go somewhere else...expensive dining experiences shouldn't be this painful. read more

We had the most wonderful anniversary dinner at the Chart House! Service was excellent - attentive and friendly without being overwhelming. Our menus even said Happy Anniversary on them! Ambiance is great, too - even though we didn't have a table against the windows, our view was great, and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. And the best part - the food was all absolutely delicious! Highly recommend everything we ordered - lobster bisque, caesar salad, filet mignon with king crab claws, side of sizzling mushrooms, and CH classic cocunut crunchy shrimp. Disappointing meal with great service. Went here with a family of four hoping for a nice dinner to round off our vacation. Entrees for dinner were a rack of lamb, NY strip with Alaskan king crab legs, some kind of whole fish, and a filet. After a pretty long wait for our food, everything but the whole fish came out severely over done (including the crab legs). Our waitress was an absolute professional and quickly took the items back, but the kitchen was slow to bring anything back out, to the point where one of us was offered some soup due to the delay. The manager did come over and apologize, offering a free dessert, and took some of the worst items off of the bill. Overall, Chart House handled the situation well, but we would be hesitant coming back again after the problems. read more

Reservations best. I am very impressed. Excellent place. Great views. Friendly staff, casual atmosphere. Bread, multiple choices brought to the table. Delicious. I could easily fill up on the bread alone. The New England clam chowder, fresh and oh so good. I had the Chilean Sea bass. It was great. My husband said the "prime rib was some of the best he has ever had " "Melt in your mouth flavor." Price equal to the experience. I would recommend this place. read more

Went for Easter yesterday. We had very good food and decent service. Miso salmon was the only thing we didn't like. My mom ended up returning it. I had the seasonal tuna poke, we also had the lobster bisque and clam chowder. Appetizers were delicious! I had the seafood grille which was food-crab cake was slightly over seasoned but super moist. My dad had the shrimp and scallops-cauliflower mash OUT OF THIS WORLD! Finished the beautiful views and restaurant with the 30 minute lava cake which was awesome. Great service, good food. The crab, avocado, mango tower appetizer was delicious, albeit the mango wasn't ripe. Still the crab had great flavor, and the portion size was decent. A little unfortunate to see so many seafood options served with pasta---would rather have just had those options with vegetables or something lighter. However, the swordfish with spaetzle was delicious!! Same for the scampi. Unfortunately, the parmesan crusted snapper was good, but bland, and the coconut rice was underwhelming. More underwhelming was the key lime pie, which wasn't tart and had a chewy, stale crust. read more

I can't begin to explain how much I loved this place! The view is beautiful, the set up of the Restaurant is just amazing. The staff was beyond friendly and understanding. It felt like such a personal dinner, food was "finger licking" good. My favorite appetizer was the coconut shrimp. The pan seared salmon was the best I have had anywhere. I wish I could give this place 10 stars! We were celebrating a birthday & one year anniversary, they personalized the menus for us and they read "happy one year anniversary & happy birthday" with our names on it. We got to keep the menus at the end as a souvenir which they beautifully wrapped up with a bow/ribbon. Next trip to Atlantic City, I will def. be going back. read more

How nice for them! We bought our dessert- all they had to do was sing! Thanks dead beat waiter. 3. As for the aforementioned deadbeat waiter -he was as indifferent to us as a down trodden worn out waiter in a dive bar! Great views. Food was excellent. I felt like they were thoughtful in arranging the seating. Younger couples and groups of friends were seated in a separate section than the older crowd. After a delicious dinner we headed down to The Deck and watched live music with the AC skyline in the background. People were dancing and having a good time. The Casino floor at the Golden Nugget itself it a little dated and doesn't have great ventilation, but they say they are redoing the property. Hope they don't hold back because it needs a major renovation. But I can't say I didn't enjoy dinner at the Chart House, which was new and fresh and had a relaxing modern atmosphere. read more

Been here several times. It's a nice restaurant with a great view and amazing food. The staff here is phenomenal and amazing service. During the daytime though, the restaurant seems outdated. It's a high class fancy restaurant, but whoever decorated and chose the color scheme of this place probably was from another generation and the restaurant could use a facelift. My friends and I went for happy hour on Sunday. The seats at the bar and lounge were filled, but luckily a couple was leaving a table as we stepped into the lounge. The food was a bit lackluster. From their sampler, I enjoyed the tuna tartar but could pass on the spring roll. There was not much alcohol in my mango mojito (and I am a very light drinker). I preferred the taste of the pomegranate mojito that my friend chose. If you want a proper mojito, I recommend going to Cuba Libre at the Tropicana. Connected to the golden nugget. Difficult to find parking, we valeted our car and then got the restaurant to stamp the ticket ( awesome!). Overpriced for what you get, and service was just ok. I ordered a 7 oz filet mignon ($38) medium rare. It was served with mash potatoes. Although I ate everything and didn't get sick, the meat smelled old. It tasted ok - cut of meat not the best, but it was cooked as ordered, and overall I just wasn't happy with it. My wife ordered the shrimp platter - 9 medium shrimp for $27. Her dish was something that you might see and taste at TGI Fridays. You get the classy atmosphere while overlooking the marina, but this meal was no match. We had 10 pm reservation, seated immediately, but our server was pushy and appeared to be annoyed we were there. Not going back. read more

I really wish I could have rated the Chart House 5-stars. I ate here Saturday night with a group of friends for the first time. The food was exceptional. We split the Coconut Shrimp and Lobster & Shrimp Spring Rolls for appetizers. They were both good. I ordered the Mixed Seafood Grill (Bronzed Mahi, Shrimp Scampi & a Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and Asparagus) for my dinner. It was incredible one of the best crab cakes I've ever had! I also had several of the Pomegranate Mojitos... BEST MOJITO ever!! So good that my entire party ordered one after me. We sat by the window and had a gorgeous view of the marina. I loved the atmosphere at the Chart House. We had made a 8:30 reservation that afternoon, and were not seated until shortly after 9:00pm. We were immediately introduced to our two waiters one male and one female. Both were very friendly and attentive. Bread came out quick and drinks were always refilled. The kitchen must have been slow. The food took awhile (but was worth it). The major issue was we had plans at 11:00. After being seated so late and the food coming out slow it was really pushing it. Then for some unknown reason our waitress took around 25 minutes to give us our bill and the receipts from our credit cards. Service was great up until that point. In the end we did not exit the restaurant until around 11:15pm. Like I said I really wish I could have rated the Chart House 5-stars. To me a reservation means if I'm on time I will be seated right away. It appeared that the hostesses were confused or had lost track of who was to be seated first. Overall I would return to this restaurant and recommend it. But be prepared to spend a long time there. read more

HAPPY HOUR & YACHTS!!! What a beautiful setting --- cushy chairs overlooking the Yachts docked @ the Golden Nugget and overlooking the Atlantic City Skyline. The Happy Hour Menu is varied and plentiful. The Kimchi dishes are spicy, tasty and blend so well with the Martinis. The Hummus is a variety of 3 flavors, each exploding into your mouth paired nicely with the plantains. This is one of our top choices for Happy Hours in the entire Atlantic City area. Took my girlfriend here for her bday last Friday night. The Good.....nice East meets West Tuna appetizer. Decent choco lava cake desert. Great view. The Bad.....she ordered the Chilean sea bass with a crab concoction on top. Over salted to the point that it was just about inedible. I had the prime rib, and while the cut was ok, you would think they would be able to figure out how to deliver it to the table "medium rare" as ordered and not medium-well bordering on well done. The food was great and I liked the fact the manager was on the floor going from table to table asking if everything was ok. We went with another couple because they raved about the view...and they were right. We faced the Atlantic City skyline and at night all that's bad about that casino town vanishes into blackness. My wife and I had great seafood dishes served perfectly (we did order the Lava Cake when we ordered the entrees) and our friends had veal and prime rib dinners. Came here on a Sunday night, the casino was oddly crowded and the restaurant was fairly full. We started at the bar for happy hour, I order a mango mojio for $6, it was super syrupy and sweet, I couldn't even finish it. Other offerings included a malibu and pineapple drink, and a pomegrante martini. If you aren't into sweet drinks I would avoid thier cocktails and drink wine or beer. During happy hour they offer $4 wine and beer, and $5-$6 mixed drinks as well as a $5 bites menu. I tried the $39 three course special, the waiter brought out a basket of bread to start that had delicious parmesan crackers in it and herb foccacia. I started with the clam chowder which was very good, but a little too rich for me. I had shrimp three ways as a entree, crab stuffed shrimp, coconut shrimp, and shrimp scampi, all three types were good, I think I liked the crab stuffed the most. I finished with a chocolate lava cake which was pretty good. Bottles of wine are fairly affordable, you can definitely find a bottle in the $30 range to pair with your dinner. I would come here if you were spending some time at the Golden Nugget but I wouldn't make a special trip to visit. read more

Grilled halibut was overcooked (rubbery) and flavorless, vegetables tasted like they were just out of the freezer and the "coconut ginger" rice didn't taste like either coconut or ginger and tasted instead like instant rice. If you're looking for a good meal at reasonable steakhouse prices than Chart House is a great place. We had a relaxing dinner, at no time did we feel rushed. There is a great view of the marina from most tables. Be prepared for it to be very loud until the evening show crowd thins out. Our dinners were excellent but the service haphazard. We arrived a bit early for our reservation so checked in before going to the bar. The bar service was quick and pleasant, our tab was offered to be transferred to our table before we could even ask. The host arrived to bring us to our dinner table right at the time of our reservation. Once at the table though, the service was lack-luster, our order was taken promptly and our dishes came at reasonable intervals but only once did someone check to see if we were happy or in need of anything else. They certainly could have sold us on another bottle of wine just by asking but no one did. A chap I can only assume was the manager stopped by while making the rounds, asked if everything was ok but was off before we could respond. Our party had a mix of steak and seafood plates as well as appetizers and dessert, all were delicious. read more
